Here's the lowdown on Colorado It's not like Iowa, We'll try to make this make sense.

The Caucus is the vehicle by which Colorado chooses either its Primary ballot, or Convention Nominee.

At Caucus, a limited number of Delegates are elected (how many depends on your precinct). The Delegates then go to Assembly (within 30 days of Caucus) and vote for their Candidate. To appear on the Colorado Primary Ballot, a candidate must have received no less than 30% of the Assembly vote. Only Delegates may vote at Assembly.

If only one candidate breaks the 30% threshold, then he/she wins Colorado and the scheduled Primary MAY BE CANCELLED. If more than one candidate gets 30%, both shall appear on the Primary Ballot and the general public will vote. Colorado is a winner-take-all state. The 30% threshold means that mathematically, no more than 3 candidates can be on the Primary Ballot.

Voters DO NOT NEED to pre-register for the Republican Caucus, however, only REGISTERED REPUBLICANS may caucus. It is now too late to change voter registration in order to attend the caucus. Again, any Colorado voter who is ALREADY a Registered Republican can caucus.

Attending the Caucus is important because it can quite possibly determine Colorado's Nominee for the General Election. A participant can either vote for a Delegate who will, in turn, vote for his candidate at Assembly or become a Delegate themselves and represent other caucus-goers at Assembly and vote for their preferred Candidate.
