SPEAKER 01 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherry Campbell. This morning we are going to continue and conclude the message I’ve been sharing with you in the last several broadcasts that I preached in a three-message series in our Victorious Faith services called Who is the Holy Spirit? And this is the third and final message in that series. So join me now in our live service for the conclusion of this message, Who is the Holy Spirit? Part 3. Let me say that again. Whenever you see the power of God in manifestation, it’s actually the working of the Holy Spirit. And so the Holy Spirit was the power and breath of God in creation in the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1-2 says, Now the earth was formless and empty or void. Darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over and moving over the waters. What was he doing? He was creating energy. to do the work of actually recreation and restoration over the waters. Job 26, 13 says, By his Spirit he has garnished the heavens. It was the Spirit of God that garnished the heavens or decorated the heavens. Isaiah 40, verses 12 and 13, Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and meted out or measured… The heavens with a span. The span is the distance between the tip of the thumb to the tip of the pinky when they are extended as far as they can spread. The tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger, the pinky, when you spread that as far as they will spread, that is a span. Now, actually, in the Hebrew, I think it says a nine-inch span. And when I was in different Bible colleges, I brought a ruler and I set it out. And many a man’s hand had a nine-inch span. It was the average size man’s hand had a nine-inch span. And so he measured out the heavens with a span. That’s how he measured the heavens. And he comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, the NIV says, in a scale and balance. He comprehended the dust of the earth in measures and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance. Who has directed the spirit of the Lord? So basically it’s saying all of those works were the work of of the Spirit of the Lord, measuring the waters in his hand, measuring the heavens with the span, comprehending the dust of the earth, weighing the mountains and the hills and scales and balances. That was all the work of the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit, who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, meaning he was the one who did that, or being his counselor has taught him. He is also the power of breath in the creation of animal life. Psalm 104, 24. How many are your works, O Lord? In wisdom you made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. And then verse 30. It all runs together in one passage. How many are your works? The earth is full of your creatures. When you send your spirit, they are created. So that was all in one passage, verse 24 and verse 30. When you send your spirit, they are created. And then in the creation of human life, Job 33, for the spirit of God has made me the breath of the almighty gives me life. So he is the power of God in creation. He’s also the power of God seen in the Old Testament. The wind that parted the Red Sea. Exodus 14, 21. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. And all that night, the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east what? Wind. Wind. With the strong east wind. That was after the Holy Spirit that moved and parted the waters and turned the ground into dry land and the waters were divided. That was the Holy Spirit doing that work. And then… The Holy Spirit was the force behind David’s small stone, which he slung with a slingshot into Goliath’s forehead. It sunk right into Goliath’s forehead and killed him instantly. It had so much power. The stone went deep through the skull bone. See, it didn’t just knock him out cold. It killed him. just like a bullet in the head. A bullet shot in the head, it penetrated the skull and embedded in the head and killed him instantly, just like a bullet. But what 17-year-old boy or 18-year-old boy throwing a stone by a sling has enough power to make that have bullet force? It’s commonly believed among Bible scholars that there was a supernatural force behind the stone that gave it a bullet power so that it broke through the skull and embedded in the brain and instantly killed him. So here in 1 Samuel 17… And I’m going to start in verse 45. It says here, and I’m not reading the whole thing. I just have a couple of verses I’m just highlighting for you. David said to the Philistine, you come against me with the sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. And then he went and he selected five stones and put them in a sling. And then he slung the stone. And in verse 50, so David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone. Without a sword in his hand, he struck down the Philistine and killed him. The stone killed him. And then the power of God was also the Holy Spirit seen in the fire of God that consumed Elijah’s sacrifice. When Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal. 1 Kings 18.38. And you’ll have to go back and read the whole story if you don’t remember it. But he taunted the prophets of Baal saying, ha, ha, ha, where is your God? And if your God is real, let him come down and burn up the sacrifice. And the prophets of Baal called on their God and they jumped up and down and spun around and did everything they could do to try to make their gods and their idols bring down fire. And nothing worked. And then Elijah said, OK, pour water over the sacrifice. All right. Don’t just pour one. Pour another. Pour another. Pour another bucket. Another bucket of water. Another bucket. Until there was actually a trough of water. The whole sacrifice was drenched and soaked in water and water filled up. a trench around the sacrifice, and Elijah prayed, said, God, you are God, and come down and burn up the sacrifice. And when he prayed, 1 Kings 18, 38, then the fire of the Lord fell down and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench. It consumed the soaking, drenched sacrifice and the wood and the stones and the soil and licked up all the water. And that was the fire of God that came down when Elijah prayed, and that was the Holy Spirit. Then we see the Holy Spirit is the power of God in the miracles of Jesus. The Holy Spirit was the miracle working power in the ministry of Jesus. Luke 4, 18 and 19, Jesus said, the spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners. So that’s all kinds of captivity and recovery of sight for the blind. That’s all kinds of healing. He didn’t just heal the blind. He healed the lame and the deaf and the dumb and the demon possessed and the paralyzed and every disease. He healed them all. And to release the oppressed, all oppression, and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. And what did it? The spirit of the Lord is upon me. That’s how he did the miracles. That’s how he healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons, made the lame walk, the blind see, the deaf hear, and et cetera. He said, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me. And then by the Spirit of the Lord, he did all the miracles. Acts 10.38 confirms that again, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth Anointed. Notice that word again. We’ve been talking about the anointing. It was also there in Luke 4, 18. The spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach and to heal, to proclaim freedom and release. So the Holy Spirit has anointed me. And now Acts 10, 38, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit anointed. and power. So the Holy Spirit is the power of God and how he went around doing good and healing all who are under the power of the devil because God was with him. So God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power, and the Holy Spirit is the power of God. Now, the Holy Spirit is the power that comes on Christians and born again and spirit-filled Christians, Acts 1.8. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. So you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. So I encourage you again, receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. You receive the indwelling in the Holy Spirit when you’re born again. When you ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to be Lord of your life, God recreates your spirit, your inner man, and you become a new creation in Christ. And the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in you. But there is a big difference between being in you and being upon you. And the Holy Spirit comes upon you in power in the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
