SPEAKER 01 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning, I’m going to continue sharing with you the message I’ve been sharing with you in the last several broadcasts that I preached in one of our Victorious Faith services called How to be Led by the Holy Spirit. So join me now in our live service for the continuation of this message, How to be Led by the Holy Spirit. You know, we’ve all said things and done things like, I knew I shouldn’t have done that. Well, why did you know you shouldn’t have done it? Because on the inside, there was the witness that you shouldn’t have done it, but you did it anyway. And so what is that? That’s the Holy Spirit bearing witness on the inside. We need to learn to just listen to that and follow it all the time. We don’t get into these. I knew I shouldn’t have done that. If we always follow that, we’ll always be right. As I have said, if you always follow the Holy Spirit, you’ll never make a mistake. You’ll never get into trouble. You’ll never make a bad deal, a bad decision, a bad choice. If you always follow the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit will always guide you in the right path. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his namesake. And as we’ve talked about before, righteousness is the rightness of God or the right way of God. It’s always the best way. And now sometimes you can argue with God and say, no, God, I think this is better. God really knows what is best. And you have to trust him. God really does know what is best. Hallelujah. So we’re learning to be led by the witness. You’ve got to become sensitive. One time I used an example of a red light or a green light. We know green light means go. Red light means stop. Some person was so carnally minded about it. They said, oh, am I going to see green? No, you’re not going to see green. We’re not going to talk about seeing colors. We’re just talking about on the inside. There’s that go. There’s that. Yes. There’s that. There’s an unction. There’s a confirmation. There is a positive witness of the spirit on the inside. But if you feel that holding back, it’s like putting on the brakes, the Holy Spirit saying, uh, don’t go there. Don’t do that. Don’t say that. That’s the, we call it a check. It’s like the, the pulling the reins back on the horse, pulling the horse by the reins. No, stop, stop, stop. Don’t go that way. Don’t say that. If you feel that on the inside, uh, then obey it. And that’s the way the Holy Spirit leads by that witness. There’ll either be the unction, which is a positive confirmation, or there’ll be the negative denial. Don’t do it. There’s the check. Now, how do you do this? Number two is by building relationship with God, the father, the son, the Holy Spirit, build relationship with, with the Lord, because as you have a closer relationship, you get to know his voice just the way it is with your husband, your wife, your mother. When they call you on the phone and they say, hi, Mary, do you have to ask who this is? If it’s your mom? No, you know her voice. She doesn’t have to say anything more than hi, Mary. And you know, it’s mom. Cause those two words, you know, her voice it’s relationship because you know her. And that’s another thing about knowing God in his word. Let me take that. How do you build relationship? In the word. You get to know God by his word. You get to know the way he thinks. You get to know the way he talks. You get to know the way he feels about things, about his will in certain situations by his word. His word reveals him, his nature, his character. The more you’re around your mom, sometimes you don’t even have to ask. you know what she’s going to say. Or if she wants you to run to the store and get something, you don’t have to ask her what kind because you know the kind that she always buys. You know her, and therefore, there are things then that you don’t even have to ask. And there are a lot of Christians asking God about things that they should not be asking God about if they knew God. For example, Lord, if it’s your will, heal me. Lord, if it’s your will, heal me. Lord, will you heal me? Is it your will to heal me? They don’t even know God. Because in his word, he already said, by his stripes you were healed. He carried your sicknesses and diseases. You’re redeemed from the curse. He died for you. He is the Lord who heals you. I mean, the book is… full of promises for healing. So they don’t even know God or they wouldn’t even be asking that question. You shouldn’t even be asking that question because it’s already revealed. And so the more you know him, you know the way he thinks about things. Lord, should I be poor and broke and sick and disgusted and mad? No. If you knew his word, you’d know he wants you to be blessed, to be happy, to be healed, to be strong, to be victorious. That’s his will for your life. And so a They shouldn’t even be asking because they don’t even know him. So as you get to know him in the word and in prayer, prayer tunes you into the Holy Spirit. Prayer tunes you in to the Holy Spirit. You’re turning yourself in and that takes me to the next step. Number three, third step. Well, this is kind of two part also ask because a lot of people don’t ask. They just go on about their way. Lord, should I do this or should I do this? A lot of people don’t even ask. They just go do what they think is best. And they’re not being led because they’re not stopping to ask. Lord, should I get this one or should I get this one? They don’t even ask God. They just buy whatever one they want. If you’d stop and ask. then God can help you and save you from a lot of trouble. But a lot of people just go on and do their own thing without even thinking to ask God about it. And you can, as we’re going to get into this, you can ask God about everything. I mean, this is one of the first things I started learning as a youth was about how to be led by the spirit and start things like asking what you should wear that day. And the Lord will help you be appropriately dressed for the right occasion that you don’t know is going to happen that day. Maybe snow and you didn’t know there would be snow or maybe rain. You didn’t know there’d be rain or maybe you’re going to meet the vice president and you had to be better dressed that day. I mean, God can help you be appropriately dressed or where should you go for lunch? I used to, when I was working in a ministry and always thinking, should I bring my lunch? Should I go out to eat? Well, God would always have me in the right place at the right time. And I’d go out when I needed to go out and there would be a blessing happened there, an appointment with somebody, talk with somebody, a prayer with somebody, or the day that I needed to stay in my car and listen to my tapes and feed my spirit, I would be led by the spirit about where to go to lunch, about what you buy, this one or this one. Should I go here? Go there. Just ask God about everything that you do. Get God involved in everything you do. Get him involved in everything you do by asking and then listen closely for his voice. Listen closely. And there again, a lot of people are not listening that God showed me what to do. And then they run off, do this, do this, do this and this. And they’re so busy. They’re not hearing. You can be too busy to hear. Also, there can be too much television, too much noise, too many games. What does it say? What does the Bible say? Psalm 46, 10, be still and know that I am God. Not in your rush, rush, rush, rush, rush. Know that I’m God. There’s got to be time for you to get still and get quiet, especially when you really, really need to hear from God. You’re going to have to shut out noise, distraction. So you can tune in. It’s like tuning in a radio frequency. Tune in to God and listen. Listen, so you’ve got to listen. God is not going to jump out at you. God is not going to grab your attention when you’re running past him and say, hold on a minute. I got something to tell you. No, he’s not going to jump and grab you. You’ve got to sit down. That’s why it’s important to take time with the Lord every day. Sit down. Say, Lord, I’m here. Talk to me. That’s the time he can talk to you. He can sometimes grab you as you run out the door. Not to say he can’t, because he’ll say, don’t forget your keys. Oh, yeah. Thank you, Lord. Don’t forget that thing you’re supposed to bring to work today. Hallelujah. But one of the biggest things is to get quiet, be still and know that I am God. Remember again, in first Kings 19, the Lord was not in the fire. He was not in the wind. He was not in the earthquake. He was not in all the noise. He came in a still small voice in the quietness. He was heard. Hallelujah. Also something else that helps you to listen. What we’re talking about. Let me say this is sensitizing yourself. to sensitize yourself to the Holy Spirit. And another thing that helps you to sensitize yourself is one thing is fasting. Fasting can help sensitize your spirit to the Holy Spirit because in fasting, you are putting down, crucifying the flesh, the desires of the flesh. You’re saying, I’m not going to eat. I’m not going to drink. I’m And therefore you are subjugating, putting under the flesh and the flesh is usually the loudest voice. I need to do this. I got to go this. I’m hungry. I want this. And the flesh is usually that voice. It’s the loudest. So in fasting, you’re shutting it off so that you can listen and hear the spirit. Also, praying in tongues exercises your spirit. Praying in tongues exercises your spirit and helps you become more sensitive to hearing the Holy Spirit. Because when you’re praying in tongues, you’re actually obeying the promptings of the spirit to speak. You’re speaking by the Holy Spirit out of your spirit. You’re speaking words that God gives you. And if you haven’t received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, then we can talk about that at another time. Or you can just ask God to give it to you because you are practicing and exercising your spirit by speaking in tongues. And that is training your spirit to follow the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah. And then another part of listening is weight. wait patiently. Now there are things, depending on the situation, things, questions in your daily life, you can get an immediate answer. Lord, should I buy this one or this one? You’ll get the witness that one. Like if you have to do shopping and you got to find something specific and like a couple years ago, I was looking for a specific blouse, a white blouse. And I was in a hurry. I had to get ready to go overseas and I had to have a specific kind. And the Lord just dropped it in my heart. I’ll start at this store. I started there, walked in. In 15 minutes, I found exactly the perfect one. See, I didn’t have to shop around to four or five different stores, go to two different malls, three different malls to go shopping. And we probably all have done that where you look and look and look and look and look. But it’s so much nicer when God just directs you right there. And in 15 minutes, you got it. You’re done. It’s over. Now let’s go do something else. So you see, by asking the Lord on different things, he can guide you in those things. And another important thing is the Holy Spirit can save your life. And there are so many occasions when Christians have died, been killed in accidents or tragedies. And you ask, why God? Why? Why did that happen? Let me say this. God always, 100% of the time, always gives warning and gives direction to his children. Always. So those who got hurt in it did not hear. What you just heard was the continuation of a message that I preached in one of our victorious faith services called How to be Led by the Holy Spirit.
