SPEAKER 01 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning I’m going to continue sharing with you the message I’ve been sharing with you in the last few broadcasts, which is message number seven, the final message in a series of messages that I preached in our Victorious Faith services called, What is the Word? And this message number seven is called, What is the Word? Wisdom. a sword, and our standard. So join me now in our live service for the continuation of this message. Number seven, what is the word? Wisdom, a sword, and our standard. James 1.25, but the man who looks intently into the perfect law, and there we focused on those words, perfect law that gives freedom. King James says, liberty, just quickly again, I don’t need to go there, but people talk about, oh, you know, that Bible is just bondage. God’s word is just bondage. No, it says here it gives freedom. Because Romans 6, 7, and 8 talk about, particularly 6, sin brings death and bondage. So people want to sin. I want to sin. I want to be free. And they’re deceived because the sin puts them in bondage. Sin puts them in bondage to Satan and the curse. God’s perfect law of liberty brings freedom. From what? From the curse and from Satan. Obedience to God gives freedom. From what? The curse of sin and death, lack, poverty, sickness, disease, chaos, fear, death, and freedom from Satan. So that’s a lot to be free from by being a doer of the word. The perfect law that gives freedom. The man who looks intently. That means studying it. The perfect law, the word of God that gives freedom and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing, doing, doing, doing it. He will be blessed. So how does another way blessing comes being a doer of the word? Blessing comes of being a doer of the word. And then I want to, I need to summarize this. So I’m going to refer to this parable, you know, in Luke 6, 46 to 49. And it’s the parable of the one man who built his house on the sand and the storm came and it came crashing down. And another man built his house on the rock and a storm came and it stood because it was founded on the rock. Now you ask Christians, what is the rock? Many will say it’s Jesus, but that’s not what Jesus said. Jesus said, he who hears my words and puts them into practice, does them, is the man building his house on the rock. So, yes, you know, Jesus is the word. The word made flesh. The word became flesh and dwelt among us. But it’s not just hearing the word. It’s being a doer of the word that becomes the word becomes a rock in your life when you are a doer. When you do it and live by it. So he’s not saying just those who believe in me, because we know many Christians had a storm come and it destroyed them. Many Christians. But the ones who stand through a storm unscathed are the ones who did the word. And that’s what Jesus said. He who hears, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like the wise man who builds his house on the rock. And he said, he who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice, doesn’t do them, is like the foolish man building his house on the sand. So you can say that this parable is not comparing Christians with non-Christians, those who don’t hear the word. It is comparing two types of Christians because it’s comparing two types of people who both hear the word. They both have heard the word. One hears the word and does it. The other Christian hears the word and doesn’t do it. So this is comparing Christian with Christian. On Sunday morning in the service, everybody’s sitting there listening to the preacher, many saying amen. Some of them are foolish and some of them are wise because some of them will leave and do it. Some will leave and forget what they heard and they won’t do it. They’ll just go about their own business all week and they will forget what they heard and they won’t put it into practice. And they are the foolish man building his house on the sand. So this is describing two types of Christians. Those who hear the word and do it. Those who hear the word and don’t do it. So building on the rock means building your life on being a doer of the word. Don’t wait until the disaster hits, the storm comes, before you start trying to establish yourself on God’s word. It will be too late. You need to be building your house on the rock, being a doer of the word before the big storm comes. Yeah, some people have made it when they faced cancer. and death sentence terminal illness, and they never had lived by the word before. You know, they were a carnal, nominal Christian, but they got into the word when they got the terminal illness diagnosis, and they are working from the bottom up, and it takes years, years to finally overcome and get the victory. But how much better is it if you’ve already had been a doer of the word for years? And then you get a bad diagnosis or something and you hit it with the word and you can kill that thing fast. You’ll get a much quicker victory. I’m thinking again of Brother Vic Victory and Brother Terry Trouble. Brother Terry Trouble had an old, broken-down car just hitting on one cylinder, just chugging along, just a-chugging, barely making it, going about 10 miles an hour. And he gets to the hill and he starts going up, but then not very far. He can’t make it anymore. And he has to get other people to come along behind him and push and push and push. And finally he gets to the top. Wasn’t that the biggest hill in the world? And then comes along Brother Victory in his, what, Corvette? All polished and hitting on all cylinders and easily cruising at 110 miles an hour. You know, out in Arizona when there’s no speed limit or something on the Autobahn. And, you know, cruising down the road. And he gets to that hill. Oh, lookie here, a hill. Vroom. And he gets to the top and stops at the filling station at the top. And he meets Brother Terry Trouble. And Terry Trouble, wasn’t that just the worst hill you ever faced in your life? What? That little thing? Oh, it’s cinch. It was so easy. I came over just like that. What’s the difference? Vic Victor, brother Vic Victor, had built his life on the word, doing the word, speaking it, believing it, meditating it in his heart, keeping it in his mind, speaking it and doing it, living by it, making it his lifestyle and his practice so that he had already been in the gym and you know, battling a little sickness here and battling a cold here and a flu there so that if he ever came across a cancer, boom, he could hit it with the same weapon he killed the cold and the flu with. And Brother Terry Trouble had never bothered to read his Bible. That’s the difference between two Christians. Those who live by the word, they study it, they think on it, meditate it, memorize it, and do it. They’re like Brother Vic Victory. And those who don’t read it, study it, meditate, memorize, do it, they’re like Terry Trouble. And that’s the way they face situations in life. And so… We need to make the habit and practice of meditating in the word, studying it, making it our firm, solid foundation of our lives. That way we are able to make it through disastrous situations without even being swayed because we already have the victory before we start or when we start. We are already standing strong on God’s word. Hallelujah. Psalm 112, verses 1 and 6 through 8. Praise, you know, you might think that what I just said, I made it up. No, first of all, Jesus told the parable in Luke 6 that those were the two kinds of Christians. That the Christian who does the word is building his house on the rock. And when the storm comes, he’s unscathed. Jesus said that. Now we see it in Psalm 112. Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who what? Finds great delight in his God. commands. Delighting in his commands is studying them, meditating on them, memorizing them, doing them. Jumping down to verse six, there’s a whole bunch of good stuff in between there about wealth and riches in your house. But verse six, surely it’s just like what Jesus said in the parable. He will never be shaken. A righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news. So the doctor gives bad news. The banker says gives bad news. The economist gives bad news. A family member gives bad news. He will have no fear. His heart is steadfast. Why? Trusting in the Lord. How can he trust in the Lord? Because he’s already grounded on the word.
