The Victory of Living by the Word

Good morning. Praise the Lord. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning I’m going to continue sharing with you message number seven, the last message in a series of messages that I preached in our Victorious Faith services called, What is the Word? And this message number seven is called, What is the Word? Wisdom. a sword and our standard. So join me now in our live service for the continuation of this message. Number seven, what is the word? Wisdom, a sword and our standard. I’m thinking again of Brother Vic Victory and Brother Terry Trouble. Brother Terry Trouble had an old broken down car just hitting on one cylinder, just chugging along, just a chugging, barely making it. going about 10 miles an hour and he gets to the hill and he starts going up but then not very far he can’t make it anymore and he has to get other people to come along behind him and push and push and push and finally he gets to the top wasn’t that the biggest hill in the world And then comes along Brother Victory in his, what, Corvette? All polished and hitting on all cylinders and easily cruising at 110 miles an hour. You know, out in Arizona when there’s no speed limit or something on the Autobahn. And, you know, cruising down the road. And he gets to that hill. Oh, lookie here, a hill. Vroom. and he gets to the top and stops at the filling station at the top, and he meets Brother Terry Trouble, and Terry Trouble, wasn’t that just the worst hill you ever faced in your life? What? That little thing? Oh, it’s cinch. It was so easy. I came over just like that. What’s the difference? Vic Victor, brother Vic Victor had built his life on the word, doing the word, speaking it, believing it, meditating it in his heart, keeping it in his mind, speaking it and doing it, living by it, making it his lifestyle and his practice so that he had already been in the in the gym. You know, battling a little sickness here and battling a cold here and a flu there so that if he ever came across a cancer, boom, he could hit it with the same weapon he killed the cold and the flu with. And Brother Terry Trouble had never bothered to read his Bible. That’s the difference between two Christians. Those who live by the word, they study it, they think on it, meditate it, memorize it, and do it. They’re like Brother Vic Victory. And those who don’t read it, study it, meditate, memorize, do it, they’re like Terry Trouble. And that’s the way they face situations in life. And so… We need to make the habit and practice of meditating in the word, studying it, making it our firm, solid foundation of our lives. That way we are able to make it through disastrous situations without even being swayed because we already have the victory before we start or when we start. We are already standing strong on God’s word. Hallelujah. Psalm 112, verses 1 and 6 through 8. Praise, you know, you might think that what I just said, I made it up. No, first of all, Jesus told the parable in Luke 6 that those were the two kinds of Christians. That the Christian who does the word is building his house on the rock. And when the storm comes, he’s unscathed. Jesus said that. Now we see it in Psalm 112. Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who what? Finds great delight in his God. commands. Delighting in his commands is studying them, meditating on them, memorizing them, doing them. Jumping down to verse six, there’s a whole bunch of good stuff in between there about wealth and riches in your house. But verse six, surely it’s just like what Jesus said in the parable. He will never be shaken. A righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news. So the doctor gives bad news. The banker gives bad news. The economist gives bad news. A family member gives bad news. He will have no fear. His heart is steadfast. Why? Trusting in the Lord. How can he trust in the Lord? Because he’s already grounded on the word. His heart is secure. He will have no fear. In the end, he will look and triumph on his foes. He’ll look and triumph on cancer. He’ll look and triumph on financial hardship. He’ll look and triumph on family problems because he’s standing on the word and he knows he’s like victory. This is going to be a cinch. The word says, the word says, the word says, the word says, and he’s speaking the word, speaking the word into that situation. Remember the sword. Drive it like a sword into the devil. Drive it, piercing that situation into every situation. Speak the word. Believe it in your heart and speak it, and it will bring you the victory every time. He will have no fear. In the end, he will look in triumph on his foes. This is the man who does the word. He is not shaken. He has no fear. He is steadfast. He is secure, strong. Because he knows in the end he wins. And it’s not just winning, dying and go to heaven. Well, we all win. Even if you die of sickness, you win in heaven. No, we’re talking about on this side of heaven, on earth, winning over sickness and every other problem. Over every weapon, over any problem that could come up. Winning over every problem. There are only two reasons why Christians are destroyed or hurt. by the storms of life. God said in Hosea 4, 6, my people are destroyed. Why? Because of lack of knowledge. So the number one reason why Christians are destroyed or hurt in storms of life is they don’t know the word. They are destroyed because of lack of knowledge. They are destroyed because they don’t know the word of God. But we see the other reason in the parable, Luke six, they’re destroyed because they didn’t build their house on the rock being a doer of the word. So then the next second thing is they don’t do what they know. So two reasons why Christians are destroyed or hurt seriously, you know, and set back in life by the storms of life. They don’t, number one, they don’t know the word. God said, my people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge. Or number two, they don’t do what they know. Like Jesus said in the parable, they did not build their house on doing the word. So when the storm came, it destroyed their house. They don’t do. Not knowing and not doing. These are the only two reasons for Christians to be destroyed, defeated, or stay in any bad situation of sickness, poor, bondage, any trouble, continuing on and on and on. It doesn’t mean trouble doesn’t come. The parable never said the storm didn’t come. The storm did come, even to the man whose house was built on the rock. Satan will try to bring storms. The world has storms. Storms come, but the one who does the word will live and survive, not only survive, but thrive and be an overcomer through the storm, come out in victory on the other side. So this is the answer. Why do bad things happen to good people? Summed up in two things, not knowing God’s word or not doing. And God said it himself and Jesus said it. How do you receive the word? I’m going to need to go to the word here and read this. But I wanted to close with this. Mark four, because this is the end of the series as well. I do want to finish this point. Mark four. And Jesus is talking about the sower sows the word. The sower sows the word. Actually, in verse 3, he’s teaching in parables. And he said, a farmer went out to sow his seed. And then after that parable, the disciples asked him to explain the parable. So let’s go down to verse 13. And he explains the parable of the sower. Then Jesus said to them, Don’t you understand this parable? How will you understand any parable? The farmer or the sower sows the word. So the seed is the word. And that was in our last message we talked about. The word is seed. It’s a seed for everything you need. Anything you need, start with the promise. It’s the seed to receive what you need. You need a car? The word of God is the seed for a car. You need a house? The word of God is the seed for a house. You need healing in your body? The word of God is seed for healing. If you will study and meditate the promises for anything you need, they will be the seed that will grow up and produce what you need. and want. The word is seed. The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path. And so actually this is the ground, four kinds of ground. seed sown on the path where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. So this is people that the word just kind of goes right over their head. They heard a message and it didn’t even get in them. They didn’t take it to heart. They ignored it. They might’ve scoffed at it. I don’t want to hear that. And it just goes right by them. It didn’t even get in the heart. Because the heart is the ground. But what kind of heart do you have? So the heart is the ground. The ground is the heart. What kind of heart do you have? Now, these people on the path, it didn’t even get in the heart. It just went right past them. Now, the next one. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Verse 16. Others are like seeds sown on rocky places. So their heart is like rocky ground. The heart is rocky ground. They hear the word and at once receive with joy. So they did get the word in their heart. They were glad and joyful. But since they have no root, they didn’t stay in it very long. They were shallow. They lasted only a short time. They didn’t dig in. They didn’t dig in and get grounded in the word. They heard a few verses that they liked. But trouble, persecution comes because of the word. Why does trouble come? Why does persecution come? Why does Satan come? Because of the word. It says trouble or persecution comes because of the word. Satan wants to get that word before it roots deeply. I mean, if you were to have a young, brand-new sapling just planted, and it’s just a few blades above a couple inches, and you had to uproot a plant, a tree, is it easier to uproot that one that’s two inches tall or an oak tree that’s been there for 60 years? the new one. And so Satan knows, get the word out before it takes root, before you dig in and get solid and grounded in the word. He’ll bring across trouble. problems. Your refrigerator breaks, your car dies, you stub your toe and broke your toe, and then your wife comes home angry and the dog vomits on the carpet and everything goes wrong. Like, oh, forget that word. I’m not going to listen to it anymore. I mean, just everything. He’ll try to make everything go wrong all at once. And why? To steal the word. What you just heard was the continuation of message number seven, the last message in a series of messages that I preached in our victorious faith services called, What is the Word?
