SPEAKER 02 :
Here is a question. Do we realize we are closer to this world ending than we were yesterday? Let’s think about that, shall we? Today, from the International Gospel Hour, stay with us.
SPEAKER 01 :
It’s time for our broadcast from the International Gospel Hour. I’m Jay Webb, and welcome to our study today as we embrace God’s Word to help us meet the challenges of today. Let’s open our Bibles and open our heart for this time of Bible study with our speaker Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour, a broadcast of the Churches of Christ. Here’s Jeff.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, thank you to our J-Web, and greetings to everyone. It’s good to have you with us today for our broadcast from the International Gospel Hour. You know, in Hebrews 11, 6, the Bible says, But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. If I believe God, then I am going to come to God. I am going to diligently seek God. I want to know more about Him. When I take Romans 10 and verse 17 that says, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Well, may I seek God through the study today by using His word today. that I may grow in my faith, in my belief in God, and move where God would have me to move. The Word of God is clear when we consider texts such as 2 Thessalonians 1, 7-9, 1 Thessalonians 4, 13-18, and 2 Peter 3, among others. that will tell us this old world will end one day, and we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Paul reminded the Christians at Rome of this nearness in Romans 13, 11 and 12. And do this knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand, therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Notice Paul even reminds us that we are closer than when we first believed. Here is a reminder for the Christians at Rome to make certain their lives are right, because, as Paul penned, their salvation is nearer. And if you will, the Apostle Paul is issuing a wake-up call with his comments to the church. And if they needed it, it certainly is wise for everyone else. Yes, friends, time is now fleeting and the moments are passing, just like the old hymn. And as every day passes, we are nearer to this old world ending, and we know not whether this is the last day. Time is fleeting, friends. More in a moment. We’ll be right back.
SPEAKER 01 :
Friends, another day is past. Time is now fleeting. Once again,
SPEAKER 02 :
Another day is past. You know, all we have is today. It is said yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present. And you know, yesterday is history. The Apostle Paul reminds us of that. And a great attitude to have in Philippians 3, 13 and 14 says, When he talks about how that he counted not himself, rather, to have apprehended, he means there are things he needs to work on, but one thing that he did, he forgot the things which were behind and pressed toward the things which were before, the prize for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Again, Philippians 3, 13 and 14. Tomorrow is a mystery. Jesus reminds us that Matthew 6, 34 says that sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. We know not what may be on the morrow. Our lives are but vapors that are here for a little while and vanishes away. James chapter 4, 13 and following. we again remind ourselves of the wake-up call in Romans 13, 11. Now it is high time to awake out of our sleep. And we cannot ignore the fact that eternal salvation is nearer, or, when you think about it, eternal condemnation. Wherein do we stand? We must be focused with today, friends. Jesus said in John 9, 4, I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day, The night cometh where no man can work. Another day is past. Yes, friends, time is now fleeting. Don’t miss it. Another day is soon past. Here’s number two. Death is certain and is appointed. Time is now fleeting, friends. Death is now certain and appointed. Hebrews 9.27 says, For it is appointed unto man once to die. Now, one knows not when one will depart through death. This reminder alone tells us that if salvation is nearer, then condemnation is clearer for the one not a Christian and for the unfaithful to God. And friends, this old world might end while we’re still living. But we do know this. As long as this earth stands, man will die. That’s why, friends, it’s so important for us to know God’s will for our lives and to obey His blessed gospel. through simple faith, as we mentioned moments ago in Hebrews 11 and verse 6, to know that with faith that we must believe that He is, we come to God, we seek God, and if we believe in God and we believe in Christ, then we’re going to believe what they instruct us concerning salvation. Did not Jesus tell us, unless we repent, we shall all likewise perish, Luke 13, 3 and 5? Yes, he did. Such an important command that he said it would be preached in all nations beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24, 44-47, And sure enough, on the day of Pentecost, when they were pricked in their heart, stricken that they had crucified the Christ, men and brethren, what shall we do? We’ve got to change something. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And in verse 41, we find that they did that very thing. And they began a walk for Jesus Christ. Friends, our salvation is nearer. Let’s think about your salvation. Have you truly obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ? Would you like to study these things further? We are blessed to offer a number of Bible study tools here from International Gospel Hour. SPEAKER 02 :
Friends, Judgment Day is coming. Time is now fleeting. Judgment Day is coming. I take us back to Hebrews 9, 27. Let me conclude that text. For as it was pointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment. What can be more plainer than the servants of the Lord, according to Luke 12, 37-40? Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly I say to you that he will gird himself, and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.” But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready. For the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Brethren, we need to think on these things. Brethren, friends, listeners to our broadcast, whether you are a Christian or whether you are not, time is now fleeting, and judgment day is indeed coming. You know, 1 Peter 4 and verse 18 reminds us that if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Did you catch that? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, wow, that makes you think, doesn’t it? And the answer, we know where the ungodly and the sinner will appear. Friends, when we think about time is now fleeting, yes, the moments are passing just like the old hymn says. We must realize that the day of which we are listening to this broadcast is going to move right along. It’s going to be history before long. And then tomorrow will come. Death is certain. And it may be our last day on this earth. And Judgment Day is coming. And we need to be ready to meet the Lord. Friends, we hope we’ve given you some things to think about. And again, I want to encourage you to reach out for your free Bible course by mail, 855-444-6988. And leave us your name and address and just say, Home Study. That’s all you have to do. We have mailed these out, hoping and praying that individuals will study and will come to a knowledge of the truth. Because there is nothing more important in our lives than to make certain that we are ready when the Lord returns or if we pass from this life. Time is now fleeting and the moments are passing. And we need to think on these things. Here at International Gospel Hour, we want to study the Word together to seek out God’s will for our lives.
