So Kerry, a lot has happened in the last week or two with Evergreen High School and the shooting there, Charlie Kirk and his assassination, what we observed in North Carolina with that stabbing and Some of our listeners are saying, where’s the hope? And I thought it’d be a good question to ask you.
SPEAKER 02 :
Amen. Well, and even to couple with that, 24 years of reflection of 9-11 and where we’ve come as a country, as a nation. And, you know, how do people make it with no hope? And I think that’s where we begin is saying, hey, if we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, if the Holy Spirit has come to take up residence in our life, then… That’s the abundant joy, right? Jesus said, the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly. And that means even in the valley times, even in the times of trials and tribulations, we can have hope or we can have joy. And that’s the ministry of love worth finding. That’s also the life and ministry and the mission of the one, uh, Dr. Adrian Rogers. You know, he was the, um, uh, dissemination of hope. And he preached hope every single week and was really trying to point people to the cross and then to mature them in their faith. And that’s the essence of who we are. It’s the ministry. It’s why we do what we do. It’s great partnerships with Crawford and you guys. And I don’t say that as a platitude. I say that because you You’re invested in what we do, not only as a partner, but as a supporter. And I thank you for that. And I want to say it publicly that we love you guys, and I really, truly appreciate that. But, yes, it’s been a week where we have to reach back and say our hope comes from above, right? Worry looks around. Depression looks down. Hope looks up, right? And we want to challenge and encourage everybody to look up in these days.
SPEAKER 01 :
Kerry, as I watched some of the older news footage of Charlie Kirk, it was brought up over and over that Charlie was a man of faith in Jesus Christ, and he would bring that up time and time again. And even after a tough exchange with a student, he might say, you know, we’re going to have to disagree, and I’m going to pray for you and your family. And he meant it sincerely. I just hope people take that out of his life and example, just one little piece of this thing.
SPEAKER 02 :
I do, too. And, you know, he even said a couple of times that I want to be known by my face. Not so much politics, not so much that I’ve been an entrepreneur or that I’ve packed a ton of success in 31 years. I want to be known by my face. And I think that that describes the type of man that he was. And something else I noticed about Charlie, he never took credit for anything. Dr. Rogers used to say when people give you compliments, you pass that on to the Lord. When people give you criticism, you pass that on to the Lord. That way it’s never about you. You’re just a conduit from where the Holy Spirit works. And I think about that Adrianism, and I think about the life of Charlie Kirk, and I’m thinking to myself, that’s exactly how he lived, right? It’s not about me. It’s about the Lord. And so I’m just going to forge on. And what a great example to all of us.
SPEAKER 01 :
Dr. Rogers was so positive in the way he presented the gospel and even some of the challenges that come with our lives. What tools do you have at Loveworth Finding that our listeners should be reminded of so they can present hope, have hope themselves, just minister to others as well as themselves?
SPEAKER 02 :
Absolutely. Years ago, this is probably 25, 30 years ago, Dr. Rogers drafted a mission statement. And that mission statement said we want to magnify Jesus through worship and the word. I love that, by the way. Number two, we want to move believers towards maturity and ministry. Number three, we want to make Jesus known to our neighbors. That’s home and to the nations. That’s abroad. But that second piece, to move believers or to mobilize believers in ministry, but also maturity. And so when you look at the ministry of love worth finding, yes, we want to introduce people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. But also we want to come alongside them and we want to play this role of discipleship. mentorship, and we want to help them grow in their faith, right? Reading God’s Word, prayer, finding a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church, service, you know, witnessing, evangelism, missions, all those marks of maturity, I think we do real well at Love Worth Finding. And that, to me, is one of the nuggets of the ministry is that we are discipling people right where they are to say we never reach the summit. We never reach the pinnacle. We are growing in Christ.

Right. We have good intentions, but we get busy. Maybe we forget. But how about right now? That’s exactly right. And many times that’s through volunteers and staff and even our board members receive a list of people to pray for. And so we understand that’s the key. We want to be a shot in the arm. For those who reach out and say that, you know, we need to go one step higher or we need a word from the word, we want to be that shot in the arm during that time.

So, Kerry, my last question is Evergreen School shootings, the news is starting to come out where they believe that young man was radicalized by some kind of group. And I don’t think they know enough yet. By the time this interview is heard, perhaps we’ll know a little bit more. We want people to be radical for Jesus. So please kind of speak to that. And then also, if you would just pray for the Evergreen High School shooting, Charlie Kirk, and what’s happened and what a lot of our kids and siblings and other people in our life saw with the news coverage of that. They saw so many horrific things. Please.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, I will say this and then I’ll pray. I would say, and I’ve asked myself this same question the last few days. It’s almost been like a self-evaluation. And here’s been the question. What is my ownership in all of this going forward? Now, obviously, I’m going to pray and we’re going to seek God’s face. But what is my personal ownership in all of this? What can I do? Is it time for me and others to stand in the gap? Is it time for us to go one step higher to what God has called us to do? Is it time for us to quit remaining silent? and to be ambassadors for Christ. And that means we need to be equipped. We need to know what to say and what to do. And so we need to let people know, right? Even this weekend, wherever we are this weekend in our circle of influence and throughout our network, we need to tell people that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through him. We need to open our mouths. And I’ve heard the little cliche, you know, always preach the gospel and when necessary use words. Well, I don’t disagree with that. But what I’m saying is it’s time for us to use words. It’s time for us to speak up and use words and be the difference maker for the kingdom. That’s what I would say. And it’s time not only for ministries and churches to do that. It’s time for the body of Christ to do that. And so, Father, I just come to you and I pray for Evergreen School. I pray for the Charlie Kirk family. I pray for Turning Point USA. I pray for the USA. Lord, help us to reflect and to mourn. We know that’s biblical. We need to mourn. But we also need to be reassured that Charlie is perfectly healed. He is finally at home and he is 100% at peace. Our job going forward is to carry on the message. And the message is Jesus Christ. The answer is Jesus Christ. The remedy is the solution is Jesus Christ. But, Father, if we sit on our hands, what good is it? Help us to go one step higher. Help us to break free and get out of the bondage of fear and laziness and busyness and be a slice of Christ to the world. In Jesus’ holy name, amen.
