I believe he took away my sins, but I go to the priest to get my sins forgiven. I’m sorry. I’m sorry that Jesus doesn’t exist. He’s not in the Bible. You’ve got your own Jesus that you’ve made up. He’s not there. The Jesus of the Bible is the one who hung on a cross and suffered and died in order to take away your sins from the eyes of God. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever to see them again. That is the Jesus you put your faith in. And not only in him, you put your faith in what he accomplished. He didn’t accomplish partial forgiveness. He accomplished total forgiveness. Do you believe that? Bob, you teach people that people are going to take advantage of that. People do. That’s just a license to see it. In Texas, they see it. That’s a license to see it. No, really? Is that a license to sin to realize that this Jesus loved me so much that he would take away my sins from the eyes of God and never see him again? In order to come and live inside of me and to restore me to a newness of life? That makes me want to go see him? Where’s your head, man? I’ll tell you what makes you want to go see him. is you can go sin, but all you got to do is just 1 John 1, 9 it. Then I can go sin again. Or I can go sin, but all I got to do is go to my confession booth and I get forgiven and I can go sin again. It’s a good deal. Because if I can keep all my sins confessed and then in case I’ve missed some just at night, just say, Lord, in case I missed one, please forgive me. And then hope you don’t have a bad dream. you can at least stay forgiven for a few hours at night. Do you see how ridiculous, folks, this is? Do you see how ridiculous this religious form that we’ve adapted is in comparison to what Jesus came to do to take away the sins of the entire world? So he says, fix your eyes on Jesus. The sin that so easily entangles us has taken your eyes off him. Run with perseverance. He never will leave me nor forsake me. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. He’s the author of it and he’s the perfecter of it. Who for the joy set before him endured the cross. For the joy set before him. Folks, it’s like having a baby for you ladies, not us. There’s torture connected with it. There’s pain connected with it. But for the joy that is set forth before you, you endure that because of the joy that you’re going to have of having that little one in your arms someday. I always said, if we guys had to have babies, you’d only have one. That’d be it. You gals are something else. Consider him, Jesus, who endured such opposition from sinful men. What were they in opposition? What’s the opposition that he endured? The opposition of truth. The very thing he’s talking about. He came and said, no more sacrifice for sins. They said, huh, if there’s no more sacrifice for sins, there’s no need for me. What need is there going to be for me to be a priest if there’s no more sacrifice for sins? I don’t have anything to do. They were in total opposition to everything he said. Why? Because everything he said was in opposition to the religion, to the religious form. They endured opposition from these sinful men. He said, consider him who endured that opposition so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Don’t lose heart when you come up with opposition to these truths, folks. We’ve been fighting people for 20-some years now. I say fighting people, seeing the opposition, losing friends, kicked off of more radio stations than we’re on. Why? For teaching this truth. That’s why we’re kicked off. Teaching this truth. Nothing more, nothing less. Teaching that Jesus meant what he said when he said, it’s finished. That’s enough to boot him off of here. Boot him off. Off of Christian stations. I got fired from one of our largest Christian stations for saying that Muslim wasn’t Christian. I want to tell you something, folks. The Christian world is in very sad shape right now. There’s very little truth being taught out there. That can be proven out of the scriptures. So consider him who endured such opposition from sinful man so that you will not grow weary and lose heart in your struggle against sin. What’s the sin he’s talking about? Sin of unbelief, just forgetting to trust Jesus. Do you realize, guys, that every sin that you and I commit, that the root of it is we just not trust in Jesus? Say, well, I just went out and got hammered last week. How come? Well, because I wasn’t trusting Jesus. Jesus said, I’ll give you peace, and you were looking for Jack Daniels to do it. Every sin that we commit is that of not trusting Christ. Looking for somebody, sexual encounter, booze, drugs, to do something for me that only Christ can do. You see, people like Anna Nicole, Marilyn Monroe, jane mansfield i could go on and on of people who have gained the world and lost their soul that’s why jesus said what profits a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul what profits you and yet we get enticed by thinking oh this will do it this will make me happy this will bring meaning and purpose to life i was never loved by my father so i’ll go find some bunch of guys to love And Jesus says, I’ll love you. Yeah, but I can’t see you. I know. That’s what faith is. It’s a substance of things hoped for but not seen. But believe me, I’m here. In your struggle, you’ve not resisted to the point of shedding your blood. Or have you forgotten the word of encouragement that addresses you as sons? Now, once again, guys, in Luke… Turn back with me just a minute to Luke 22. Luke 22, beginning in verse 39. Jesus had just finished the last supper with his disciples. Judas had left to betray him. And now in verse 39, it says, Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives and his disciples followed him. And on reaching the place, the Mount of Olives, he said to them, pray so that you’ll not fall into temptation. He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them and he knelt down and prayed, Father, if you’re willing to take this cup from me, if you’re willing, take this cup from me. Yet it’s not my will, but yours be done. I believe what Jesus was saying there to his father, his father, if there is any way for me to save these people, apart from me having to become sin for them, of taking upon myself every lousy, dirty, sinful thought and word that humanity has ever conjured up, And take that upon myself and to the point where he who knew no sin became sin. Please, Father, if there’s any other way to do it, do it. And yet, it’s not my will, but it’s yours to be done. His desire was certainly expressed. I’m not just looking forward to becoming sinned. But if that’s the only way that I can save these people, I’m going to do it. Is that something? Is that something, guys? Think about what Christ was going through before he ever went through what he was going through. Was the idea that I am going to have to go to a cross and there take upon myself the sins of the entire world. He who knew no sin. Take upon himself the sins of the whole world. If I were to ask you today, if I put a cross up here on this stage, and I ask you that what I want you to do is just secretly take a piece of paper and write down just one sin that you committed this week and come and nail it on the cross. Or better than that, list all of them. Can you imagine how many pieces of paper there’d be on that cross? And that’s just one day. This is for the entire world that our Lord had to sacrifice himself for you and me. And so he said, if you’re willing, if you’re willing, Lord, to do this, take this cup from me. And yet it’s not my will, but yours be done. Now, an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him during that period of grief. And after being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. In so much agony over the fact of dying? No. There are many people who have gone to the electric chair and knew they were going to their death that certainly didn’t go through those kind of things. His agony wasn’t over the fact he was going to die. His agony was over the fact he was going to have to become sinned. i remember very early in my christian experience as a brand new christian i was teaching sunday school in the little church that we were in some bunch of kids and the question came up about i didn’t understand sweating great drops of blood and i remember saying to this one little teenage girl i said let me give you an illustration of that i said uh do you believe that uh Do you believe that if you went out and sinned and so forth and so on, that you would sweat great drops of blood over this type of thing? No, I don’t think so. I said, let me ask you this. If you had to go out into a field tomorrow, and I told you, you’re going to have to go out into a field and be molested by a hundred guys, what do you think you’d do? She said, I’d be sweating great drops of blood. I said, exactly. Exactly. And that’s exactly what happened to Jesus. He went out and was literally molested by all of us. All of our sins piled together upon him. And like I say, there he who knew no sin became sin for you and me. So that we could become the righteousness of God in him.

In your struggle against sin, you’ve not resisted to the point of shedding your blood, and have you forgotten the word of encouragement that addresses you as sons? Do not make light of the Lord’s discipline and don’t lose heart when he rebukes you because our Lord disciplines those he loves. I’m going to stop right there. There’s a difference between discipline and punishment. Punishment is retaliation for an act done. Discipline is preparation for the game ahead. If you’ve ever watched the television of the Cowboys or the Mavericks in preseason, what are they doing? What’s the coach doing? Well, he’s disciplining them. Now, it might feel like punishment. And I remember in my high school days of playing basketball and the coach running up and down those bleachers, and I thought he was nuts. But what was he doing? To me, he was punishing me. He said, no, I’m not punishing you, Bob. I’m preparing you for the game. Because you’re going to get in shape. In the army, when I threw basic training, I was never in such good shape in my life when I got out of there. What was it for? Preparing me in case I ever had to go into battle. It wasn’t punishing me. It was disciplining me. So discipline is a marvelous thing. We look at it as something to frown against. No, it’s phenomenal. Discipline. So don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline. In other words, don’t resist it. Encourage it. Discipline is discipleship. Every time I pick up this Bible, it disciples me. Every time I pick up this Bible, I get discipled by the Lord. Every time I pick up this Bible, the thoughts that have come into my head through the world begin to get diminished by truth. This book is a book to teach us truth and in so doing, push out the error. It’s wonderful. It’s a fantastic thing to be disciplined and taught by the Lord. So don’t make light of his discipline. Don’t lose heart when he rebukes you because the Lord disciplines the one he loves. And now here’s a good one. And punishes everyone he accepts as a son. How many of you believe that’s true? Is there any punishment for you and me? There’s no condemnation. Awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. Condemnation is what? Punishment. Well, what in the world is that doing there? Well, let’s go back to what’s a quote out of. Turn back to Proverbs. That’s in the Old Testament, guys. Proverbs 3. You all got it? Anyone still looking? I’ll wait for you. Anyone forget their Bible? Okay. Okay. Proverbs 3, beginning in verse 11. My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke because the Lord disciplines those he loves as a father, the son he delights in. Now, this is supposed to be a direct quote out of there. So they’re okay on the first verse. My son, don’t despise the Lord’s discipline. My son, don’t like light of the Lord’s discipline. That’s all sin. Don’t lose heart when he rebukes you. Don’t resent his rebuke. Because the Lord disciplined those he loves. Because the Lord disciplines those he loves. That’s word for word. Well, how did as a father, a son delights in? And how did you get up punishing everyone he accepts as a son? Sounds to me like it’s a misquote, doesn’t it? Well, I began to study that because, number one, when you know something and you read something that’s wrong, you know it’s wrong. And I know there’s no punishment for us in Christ Jesus. So this has got to be wrong. So I began to do a study in Hebrews in the original language. I don’t understand it, but you can do a study on it. And you found out in the Hebrew language back when Proverbs was written, That word that was used meant to deeply inquire within. It’s like a father deeply inquiring into his son’s problem. In other words, it’s not a surface treatment. I’m going to get to the root of it. What we were talking about. I go do this. What’s the root of it? Let’s get, let’s deeply inquire. What was the root of why you did that? Well, I wasn’t trusting Jesus, right? Are we together on that? That’s what the word means. Deeply inquire within. Well, in about 280 B.C., the Septuagint was written. Septuagint is the Greek translation of the Old Testament. Do we all know that? In 280 B.C., they translated the Old Testament from Hebrew into Greek. Those Old Testament Hebrew letters were still there, and copies of them were there by the 100s. But by then, the Greek language was the predominant language of the land. And not only that, but the Jews were scattered all over the place by then. And so if a Jew was scattered to Greece, he was speaking Greek. If he is scattered over here, he’s speaking someplace else. Still a Jew, but he’s speaking German or he’s speaking Hebrew or speaking French or whatever else it might be. Are we together on that? So in as much as the Greek language was the universal language of the day, it was translated from the Hebrew into Greek. Now by then, words start taking on different meaning. Let me give you an example of that. I will give you the word right now, trunk. What do you think of? What do you think of? Elephant trunk. What do you think of? Elephant trunk. What? Trunk on an automobile. Tree trunk. Yeah. See, it’s all over the place. Remember the songs that you used to sing about when I was happy and gay? I don’t believe I’d want to sing that song today. Our hearts were happy and gay. No, no, I don’t want to sing that. But that was popular. Now, that was the word, not a more. Words take on different meanings. And so this word of deeply inquire within began to be perceived, well, that’d be like a whip with a bone in it. And after a while, that’s exactly what that word became, was a scourging. Some people translate scourging like a father scourging. Why? That’s the meaning that the meaning would take on. That was not the original. So when it’s translated over here in the New Testament, it translated according to the Greek instead of the Hebrew. And it comes out punishes. Does that diminish translation? No. If you know what the Bible says, it doesn’t bother me at all. You just go correct it. You just realize something has happened there and go back and correct it. If you know what the Bible says. I know what the Bible says in regard to punishment. There are no punishments. So how is he going to say he punishes? It’s got to be a mistake. And so you check that out. Isn’t that great? And so the literal translation of that is, my son, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline. Don’t lose heart when he rebukes you because the Lord disciplines those he loves as a father, the son he delights in. Endure hardship, we’re told, as discipline. In other words, hardship that we go through will discipline us, won’t it? What does hardship, if you’re a born-again believer, normally do for you? does what drives you to jesus absolutely you’re going through trials and tribulation and there’s no place else to go and so you go to jesus and it builds character says that in the scripture i’ve told god many times i’m as big a character as i need to be i’ll just uh but it’s uh that’s exactly what it does And so we say, well, endure that. Don’t look at that as something that’s bad. Let it be a lesson to us. I mean, it forces us many times to turn our dependency back on Christ. You can’t depend on anything else, guys. I remember in the days when you used to be able to depend upon your retirement program. Do you remember those days? Or is that where all my retirement program is going to take care of me no no businesses get sold they go out of business go bankrupt can’t depend on that we realize the older you get and the more you experience life my friends that the only one that we can honestly say that i can depend upon every single moment of the day is christ jesus the author and perfecter of my faith christ jesus And so I can endure hardship as discipline. Again, repeating what we just said. God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If a father doesn’t discipline his son or his daughter and teach them truth, evidently doesn’t love them. You see a lot of people in this day and age. Oh, well, don’t discipline. Don’t do this. Just let them all do their thing. They don’t love your kids. Because if you love your kids, you’re going to teach them. Well, we’ll close on that and pick up next week in regard to these passages. I hope this has been helpful to you. Like I’ve said before, if I’m going to walk by faith, then I’m not going to walk by faith in me. I’m going to walk by faith in Him. And I’m not going to walk by faith in what I believe or thought that He possibly did. I’m going to walk by faith in what He did. Took away my sins. Did I deserve that? Did you deserve that? Did you earn it? What is the only thing that should be our response to this? Lord Jesus, thank you for your mercy. I don’t think there’s a day that goes by and I don’t wake up thanking him for his mercy. His goodness and kindness to me. Didn’t deserve an ounce of it. But he’s good to me. And he’s kind to me. And he’s patient with me. And he loves me totally. And I have to just say to that, thank you, Lord. Let’s pray together. Father, we thank you so much for what you came to do. You endured the cross. Your heart was hurt because of the fact you were going to have to become sin for us. And yet you were willing to do so. We don’t understand that. How could you love us so much that you were willing to give the most precious thing you have, your life, so that we could have life? And yet, that’s what you did. You went to a cross to take away the sins of the entire world so that raised from the dead, you could give life to us who were born dead. The consequence of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. So we come to you today thanking you For your forgiveness. And thanking you for your offer of life. And if we’ve never accepted that offer. Of your resurrected life today do so. Don’t hesitate. Just to talk to God out of your heart. To be able to say Lord Jesus thank you for. What you did for me at the cross. I’ll never insult you by asking you to do what you’ve already done. But I’ll spend the rest of my life thanking you. And I thank you that entering into my death with me that you were raised from the dead so that that life that raised you from the dead can raise me from the dead. Because the consequence of sin is death. But the gift of God is life. And I accept you not only as my Savior, but as my Lord right now. As my life, I accept you. And to as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become a child of God. To those of us who are already children of God, we praise you for that and thank you for it. There ain’t anything in the world that we’re able to rejoice about any more than that. And so, Father, we thank you from the bottom of our heart for the salvation that you’ve given to us and for the love that was expressed in so doing. In Jesus’ name we pray.
SPEAKER 03 :
Until next time, walk in faith, be good to one another, and praise the Lord. Amen.
