Good morning. Welcome to Victoria’s Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. I hope your Thanksgiving yesterday was very blessed. And this morning I’m going to continue sharing with you the message I began sharing with you yesterday. That is a sequel to the message I’ve been sharing with you in the last few broadcasts called, Who Do You Say That I Am? My Abundant Provider. This sequel message is called, Who Do You Say That I Am? My God of Increase and Multiplication. So join me now in our live service for the continuation of this message. Who do you say that I am? My God of increase and multiplication. He’s talking about covenant. I’m going to make my covenant with you. And actually in chapter, this is 17. Chapter 15 is where Abram actually got the ram, the bull and the goat, cut them in half, open them and let the blood run to the middle. And God walked through the pieces, passed between the pieces. Chapter 15 is where that covenant was made in blood. But now he’s confirming this covenant and he’s extending the covenant to Abraham’s seed. And so it’s all based on covenant relationship. Now covenant relationship, as we mentioned it in the communion, it’s two-sided. When we take communion, so many times, a lot of times people, they’re searching their heart, as they should, But they’re thinking of what God has done for them. And the fullness of covenant is also giving back to God everything. So it’s receiving everything from God, but it’s also giving back everything to God. It’s your heart and Abraham and Jacob. When they received covenant, they tithed. Their tithe was their physical material giving back to God. God meets all of our needs, and he is our source and supply and life and breath. But their part of giving back to God in a covenant relationship was their tithe. And people who say that tithing is under the law, they do not understand tithing. It has nothing to do with law. It’s 100% covenant related. It is God, you gave everything to me, and I give back the tenth to you. Thankfully, God gives 100% to us, and our exchange is 10%. That’s not an equal exchange. That’s not an equal. And people who fuss about giving the 10%, they’re not even thinking, well, everything I have is God’s. Not if you’re not tithing. They’re talking out of two sides of their mouth and forked tongue. Because the tithe is the evidence of you giving back materially to God. God gives 100% to you. But both Abraham and Jacob, when they both entered into covenant with God, when Melchizedek came to Abraham and gave him the cup, the bread and wine, he received covenant and he gave back tithe. Jacob, when he slept with his head on the rock, God spoke to him in the night and he woke up and called the place Bethel. And in the night, God spoke to him and said, I am the God of your father, Abraham and Isaac. I will be your God too. And what a lot of people don’t understand in this story is that up to this point, God was not Jacob’s God. Jacob was the deceiver. He was a con man. He even was fleeing because of conning. He was fleeing for his life because his last con job put his life at risk. He conned his brother and his father. and his brother was out to kill him. He was running away, so he was a deceiver and a con man. He had been up to that point in his life. That’s who he was. And that’s what his name means, supplanter. And so he fled for his life after his last con job, knowing that his last con job just put his life at risk. And now God comes to him and says, you may not know much about me, This is Cherri’s paraphrase. I am the God of your fathers, Abraham and Isaac. Let me introduce myself to you. I will be your God and I will make my covenant with you. Let me just go ahead and read that part. Genesis 28, 10, Jacob left Beersheba set out for Haran because he had conned his brother and he was fleeing for his life. Verse 11, when he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, its top reaching to heaven, the angels of God ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord, Jehovah. Jehovah is standing on this. And he says, I am Jehovah, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. In other words, he’s introducing himself. Hey, this is who I am. You and I haven’t had any relationship up till now. This is where Jacob actually, what I would call in the Old Testament form of salvation. This is his encounter with God. This is where he, in the Old Testament, he doesn’t get saved because the blood of Jesus isn’t shed. But this is where he comes into relationship with God. And so God is introducing himself. I am Jehovah, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. Now I’m coming to you. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth. You will spread out to the west, to the east, to the north, and to the south, and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. It’s the same words he had promised to Abraham, to you and your offspring. Verse 15, I am with you. And we’ll watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you. He said, I’m making this covenant with you now that I gave to your fathers. When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, surely the Lord is in this place. And let me go down verse 18. Early the next morning, Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. A pillar. He actually made it as an altar and made it an altar to God and poured oil over it. He called that place Bethel. Verse 20, then Jacob made a vow saying, if God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s house, then the Lord will be my God. In other words, he’s saying, okay, God, I’m taking you. And if you will do this, this, this, and this, then you’ll be my God. But this is what you said. You said, you’ll be with me. You’ll bring me back. So I’m saying, okay, you’ll be with me. You’re going to take care of me. Give me food to eat, clothes to wear, and bring me back safely to my father’s house. You do that, you will be my God. I accept this deal. He’s saying, I accept. I accept this deal. And the stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house. And of all that you give me, I will give you a tenth, a tithe. Genesis 28, verse 22. So you see, Abraham received the covenant. He made covenant in chapter 15. He made covenant in chapter 17. When Melchizedek came and brought the cup and the bread, the bread and the cup, and the elements of the covenant… Abraham brought the tithe, said, you give me covenant, I give you tithe. You give me covenant, I give you tithe. Jacob then, God is saying, I’m presenting to you the covenant. Jacob says, okay, you give me covenant, I give you tithe. You see, tithe is 100% covenant relationship, nothing to do with law. It was entered into the law. Tithing preceded the law and was during the law. And what’s the word for after? Continues, endures after the law ends. And I believe it is eternal. Because this wasn’t my main subject tonight on tithing, but in Hebrews chapter 6 and 7, chapter 7, Jesus is receiving the tithes today as a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek gave covenant bread and wine, blessing, and received the tithe. Jesus is a high priest forever, forever, in the order of Melchizedek. So what does he do? Brings the cup and bread, gives the blessing, receives the tithe, forever. That’s why I think tithing is forever, eternal, because Melchizedek, Jesus is a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. And the order of Melchizedek means like Melchizedek, doing what Melchizedek did. So that would mean Jesus is forever receiving tithe and giving… the bread and wine, cup and bread, and the blessing. The covenant emblems of communion and the blessing he gives and he receives our tithe. Our tithe is our part of activating the covenant with God. and being in that covenant relationship of oneness. As I read those scriptures while we were receiving communion, he says, I will remain in you, you remain in me, this oneness and this sharing of everything. Nothing is kept from the other. So that’s what tithing is all about. And I don’t know what led me into that. But we were on Genesis 17 and Abraham tithed. I was talking about covenant. Oh, that’s right. Because in Genesis 17 too, I’ll make my covenant between me and thee. So there was a man side and there’s a God side. God side, I multiply you, I bless you, I increase you, I watch over you, I take care of you. Your part is live uprightly before me be wholehearted, perfect, holy devoted. And then also voluntarily, Abram and Jacob gave the tithe as their part. So that was man’s part to God. All right. So he says, I will multiply the exceedingly. The NIV says, greatly increase your numbers. And verse six, and I will make the exceedingly fruitful. And remember in the Hebrew, that’s exceeding, exceeding. It’s a double exceeding. And I will make nations of thee and kings shall come out of thee. So in the covenant, God is El Shaddai. He is the multiplier. He is the increaser. He is the one who makes us increase and fruitful.
