Welcome to Seeds of Revelation, a short devotional presented by Rabbi Schneider, a Jewish believer in Jesus, the Messiah. Hey, most of us have heard about the Sermon on the Mount and Beatitudes, and when we look at the Beatitudes individually, many of us feel like it sounds almost like a Hallmark greeting card type of a slogan. Let’s begin. The first one, Yeshua said, blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God. Now, especially for a lot of you men out there, That’s a hard thing to get your head wrapped around, that somehow to be poor in spirit is a good thing. But Jesus, Yeshua himself said, blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven or the kingdom of God. How can that be? How can it be a good thing to be poor in spirit? But beloved, what Yeshua was referring to is that until we realize our need, we’re never going to be able to be filled with the Spirit of the Lord. We have to be hungry. We have to be thirsty. We have to ask God into our lives because we realize we have a need. That’s what it means to be poor in spirit. And Jesus said when we come to that place where we’re looking for God to become our source, the result’s going to be that we’re going to become divinely happy. Give all your heart to the Lord and He’s going to fill you up.
