In this episode of the International Gospel Hour, Jeff Archie explores the profound gratitude we owe to God, emphasizing the divine attributes that warrant our endless thanksgiving. The discussion delves into how recognizing God’s blessings in our lives, both spiritual and physical, can lead to a richer faith experience. We’ll reflect on biblical passages that underscore the abundance of God’s goodness and how this should inspire our constant gratitude and spiritual growth. Let’s take time today to meditate on the countless ways His grace manifests in our lives.
SPEAKER 01 :
Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen. Now, friends, that’s a verse. And our lesson to follow right here from the International Gospel Hour. Stay with us.
SPEAKER 03 :
Hi, this is Jay Webb for International Gospel Hour. Welcome to our broadcast today. For over 90 years, churches of Christ have proclaimed God’s Word through our broadcasts. Just ahead is another Bible-based lesson with Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour. Let’s begin.
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, thank you to our J-Web and greetings to everyone. It’s great having you with us for our broadcast today from the International Gospel Hour. Revelation 7 and verse 12 says, Amen. Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen. From the massive host worshiping and praising God, we see a great declaration. And look at the praising of God’s attributes. Blessings. Oh, the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1 and verse 3. Glory, glory be to God. Wisdom, thanksgiving, thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15, 57. Honor, power, and might. Oh, what wonderful words. Praising the attributes of God. Friends, let me ask, do we ever pause and truly realize how thankful we should be to God? Let’s talk thankfulness today, shall we? To our God forever. Oh, His blessings. Thanks be to our God forever. Let’s talk about His blessings. I mentioned this moments ago in Ephesians 1, verses 1 through 3. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, to the saints, which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus, Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Now, he’s writing to the saints in Ephesus. You see, sainthood is not bestowed upon what someone has done after they have died. A Christian is also known as a saint. And emphasizing the faithful in Christ Jesus. These saints who are set apart, they are faithful in Jesus Christ. And how they have blessings from the Father who has blessed us, Paul said. Blessings that they have, that they are growing, that they are maturing in the heavenly places in Christ. They are in Christ Jesus where salvation is found. Paul called for a blessing upon the Father in the sense of recognizing and praising His glory, His honor, and His goodness, because the Father has already blessed the Christian with every spiritual blessing. For physical and spiritual blessings, Christians should be thankful in three areas. One, to be thankful to be embraced in His will. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5.18 To be thankful for the encouragement of authority. Ephesians 5.20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And to be thankful through the expression of prayer. In Philippians 4 and verse 6, be careful or be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. Calling out with prayer, supplication, supply, thanksgiving, make the requests known unto God who richly gives all things. And to the Colossian brethren in Colossians 4 and verse 2. Continue in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving. All his blessings and thanks be to God forever. Have you ever stopped to think that nobody can out bless God? You can’t. Nobody can out bless God. Recognizing and praising his glory, his honor and his goodness forever. And friends, what a wonderful thought. We’ll continue this thought in a moment. But first, I want to pause for around 30 seconds or so and let our J-Web tell you about our website at internationalgospelhour.com.

SPEAKER 01 :
Oh, His goodness! Thanks be to our God forever. Listen to Romans 2 and verse 4. Do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? God’s goodness is intended to bring man unto repentance. But shall we not also be thankful for the other areas of His goodness as well? To go back to Romans 2 and verse 4 for a moment, His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering. That God’s goodness will lead one to repentance. Oh, the times of that ignorance God winked at but commands men everywhere to repent. Acts 17 and verse 30. Oh, the goodness, the forbearance, the longsuffering of God. Oh, to be thankful for His goodness. You know, to be thankful that one can accept and obey Him. From 2 Thessalonians 2.13, But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord. Because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. God has a plan. God had a plan from the beginning of time, even before, that one can accept and obey. And one can no longer be a slave to sin. But God bethanked that you were the servants of sin. But you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Romans 6, 17. That form, that pattern, that earlier in Romans 6, when he would speak of the death, burial, and the resurrection of Christ, and how one is dead in sin, buried with Christ in baptism, and then raised to walk in newness of life, not before baptism. Isn’t that amazing? Romans 6, 4-6. And how one can simply believe in Christ as He commanded in John 8, 24, repent of one’s sins, Luke 13 and verse 3, confess that faith in Christ, Matthew 10, 32, and then be baptized into Christ for the remission of sins, Acts 2 and verse 38, in order to be saved, Mark 16, 16? Oh, thanks be to God for His goodness. How about thanks be to God for His goodness that one can partake of a better life? Listen to Colossians 1.12. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. So one can accept and obey. One is no longer a slave of sin. One can partake of a better life. Thanks be to God for His goodness, His patience with us, that we can change our lives. And thanks for His goodness that one can abound in a better faith. Colossians 2 and verse 7, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith as you have been taught, abounding there with him with thanksgiving. People are rooted, they’re built up, they keep growing in the faith and the knowledge of God. 1 Thessalonians 2.13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of man, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believes. How God’s word can work in our lives can change us to where we can grow and mature. Is that not what 2 Thessalonians, I’m sorry, 2 Timothy says? 2 Timothy 3, verses 16 and 17? All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. God breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete or mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. how the power of God’s word can change all His goodness. Thanks be unto God, unto our God, forever. Oh, I just can’t help but to say that passage from Revelation 7 and verse 12 again. Amen. Blessing and glory and wisdom. Thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen. How thankful we are for a redeeming love. A number of blessings that await in His goodness for a better life.
