Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning, I’m going to continue sharing with you the message that I began sharing with you yesterday that I preached in a series of messages in our Victorious Faith services called the God of Miracles. And in this series, we are studying miracles in the Bible. And this first message is called Miracles of Provision. So join me now in our live service for part two of message one called Miracles of Provision. The widow of Zarephath’s meal and oil multiplied for many days. First Kings 17, 13 through 16. Elijah said to the widow, don’t be afraid, go home. And he had already said, please bring me a meal. And she said, surely Lord, I don’t have any, but a little meal and a little bit of oil for me and my son, and we will eat it and die. She had already said that. Then Elijah said to her, don’t be afraid, go home and do as you have said, but first make a small cake of bread for me. Now that there is a lesson that when you have only a little bit, give your first portion to God and if you only have a little bit left, plant some of it as a seed so it will multiply. Because if you eat it all, you’ll have nothing left. If she had eaten it, she and her son would have died. But because she planted some as a seed, the seed was able to multiply. So don’t eat all your seed, especially don’t eat the last that you have. because then you’ll have no more. If you only have a little bit left, turn it into a seed. And so God can bless it and multiply it. And then there can be more and more and more. So that’s the principle of first bringing some to God and then God will multiply it. And then there will be plenty for you as well. First, make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me because he represented the minister, the man of God. He was the man of God. And then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says, the jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land. She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah. So there’s multiplication of what you have is another method. God can meet your need. God can multiply what you have. God can multiply the money. He can multiply the food. He can multiply things. I’ve got a testimony later to share with you of a modern day testimony of a multiplication. All right, then let’s look at another one. Elijah was fed by angels food in first Kings 19, three through eight. Elijah was afraid. This is after he had given the word to King Ahab about no rain. Elijah was afraid and ran for his life when he came to Beersheba in Judah. Or this might have been after he challenged him on something else. Anyway, when he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there while he himself went a day’s journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. I have had enough, Lord, he said. Take my life. I am no better than my ancestors. Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once, an angel touched him and said, get up and eat. He looked around and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals and a jar of water. Where did that come from? He ate and drank and then lay down again. The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, get up and eat for the journey is too much for you. So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled 40 days and 40 nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. And so an angel brought supernatural food that strengthened him for 40 days and 40 nights. That was miraculous. People sometimes talk about doing a 40-day fast. And let me just share what I see in scriptures. about a 40-day fast. A 40-day fast is, in the natural, too long for a person to fast. And I only recall three occasions in the Bible where there was a 40-day fast and all of them were supernatural, not using natural human strength. First one, we see Moses on the top of Mount Sinai. He was caught up in the glory and… The Jewish scribes believe he was caught up into heaven. I believe that too, because he saw the heavenly tabernacle. So he had a visual image as well as the instructions on how to build the earthly tabernacle. How would he have known? Of course he had the dimensions, but somebody can give you a dimensions without a picture. It can be hard to imagine how it’s supposed to look. And God took him to heaven, showed him the heavenly tabernacle, because the earthly tabernacle was made after the pattern of the heavenly tabernacle. That’s written in the book of Hebrews, that the earthly tabernacle was made after the likeness of the heavenly tabernacle. So he had to see the original in order to build the earthly. And so he was actually caught up in the glory for 40 days and 40 nights. You can suspend your natural body functions when you’re caught up in the glory. And so I believe that’s why he was able to go without eating for 40 days and 40 nights. He was in the glory. He was in God’s presence. He was getting supernatural life, glory flowing through him continually. Now, the second occasion of a 40 day and 40 night fast is Elijah. He was fed angel food before he went. It had to have been supernatural because it sustained him for 40 days and 40 nights, unlike any natural food can. Natural bread won’t sustain you that long. Natural meat won’t sustain you that long. Natural water won’t. It had to have been supernatural empowerment. And then the third we see when Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights being tempted by the devil. Well, again, it had to be supernatural. He was facing the ultimate test. He was facing the test that Adam failed in the Garden of Eden. When Adam was tempted by Satan, confronted by Satan, and he sinned, Jesus is the second and the last Adam. He had to go back and retake the same test. And so he had to be confronted by Satan and be tested for 40 days and 40 nights. And through his faith and everything he did, I mean, he was the son of God, but operating in the flesh, he did it by faith as you and I do. And he sustained 40 days and 40 nights. But then at the end of that period, the Bible says angels came and attended him. Why? He would have been extremely weak and angels ministered to him at the end of the 40 days. So if you’re counting on angels to come minister to you and you’re going to live on angel food or you’re going to live in the glory, go ahead and go 40 days. But I don’t see it as an example for every Christian to practice 40-day fasts. I mean, the Lord can give you fasting for a week, two weeks, three weeks. But the practice of a 40-day fast in the Bible was only under supernatural conditions. And your body wasn’t created to do 40-day fasts. And I think it can possibly, I’m not sure medically on that, but that it can do some physical harm to you, of course. So anyway, I would not encourage anybody to do the 40-day fast. Anything under 30 days would probably be safe enough. But don’t try to follow the 40-day example because those were supernatural situations. The people had supernatural help to do it. And if you’re just doing it in the flesh, you’re not going to have that ability to sustain you like they did. So then another miracle, water provided in the desert of Edom. Here’s another miracle of water. Water provided for Jehoshaphat and his allied army. 2 Kings 3 verses 8 and 9, 14 through 17 and verse 20 says, I just kind of picked some of the scriptures to narrow the story down. By what route shall we attack? He asked. Through the desert of Edom, he answered. So the king of Israel set out with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. After a roundabout march of seven days through the desert, seven days to the desert, the army had no more water for themselves or for the animals with them. Then they called for the prophet. The prophet came and verse 14, Elisha said, as surely as the Lord almighty lives, whom I serve. If I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, I would not look at you or even notice you. He did not have any respect for the king of Israel or the king of Edom. But now bring me a harpist. While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came upon Elisha. And he said, this is what the Lord says. Make this valley full of ditches. For this is what the Lord says. You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. Verse 20, the next morning about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was, water flowing from the direction of Edom and the land was filled with water. Praise the Lord. So God brought water again. And then the widow’s oil was multiplied. She was in debt and she came to the man of God with her need. Second Kings four, one through seven. The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, your servant, my husband is dead. And you know that he revered the Lord, but now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves. Elisha replied to her. How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house? Your servant has nothing there at all, she said, except a little oil. Let me give a little lesson there. She said, we have nothing except a little oil. Don’t count a little bit as nothing. Never count a little bit as nothing because the little bit can become the miracle. Don’t count a little bit as nothing because the little bit can become the miracle. The little bit can become the miracle. So it’s interesting. She said, we have nothing at all except a little oil, but her oil was the key to the miracle. So she had something count everything you have, no matter how small it is, it can be used for a miracle except a little oil. She said, verse three, Elisha said, go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars. And as each is filled, put it to one side. What you just heard was part two of message one of a series of messages that I preached in our victorious faith services called The God of Miracles. And this first message is called Miracles of Provision. We are studying miracles in the Bible where God supernaturally provided for the physical needs of people. And I encourage you to believe God today for your miracle. God is still able and still willing to do miracles today, and he’ll do a miracle for you.
