About being successful in this life, Harley came into this world under a curse born to an alcoholic.

Institute and then adopted by a Good Mennonite family. His early life, though, found him in and out of trouble with the law and dependent on alcohol. But he married a godly woman who continued to pray for her husband no matter what he did. He and Margaret started a business of providing enclosures on trucks for transporting glass.

Well, praise gone on our last broadcast we had Harley and Margaret Schmidt with us and I asked them to stay over today. And so we’re going to be talking about business again. But yesterday, when we finished the broadcast, we were talking about getting out of debt. We were talking about becoming givers. And let’s just recapitulate that for our, for our audience, you made a decision to give $10,000.

But you didn’t have $10,000. You had $1200, right?

Yeah, the, the the decision was.

Made as we were praying.

The business wasn’t doing well, so he’s praying, he said. No father, God, we need to know what to do to make the business successful.

And one of the things that he showed us to do was to plant a seed of $10,000.

So that we could get out of debt, but we didn’t have $10,000. So we put together the most we had, which I said was about 1200 and some dollars. We sent that in and made agreement with the people to pay the rest their monthly payments, which was approximately 7 years.

The Lord turned things around and blessed us, and as in the six or seven months we had the $10,000 paid off in about 6 months further down the road, the business had picked up and was doing well. As a matter of fact. From that day forward, the business never really had any bad slumps. Now we had some downs.

But not real bad slumps. Now, are you saying, Harley, that once you decided to be a giver, you said I I want to do a couple of things here. I certainly want to get out of that. I want to become a.

Liver. Are you saying that supernatural laws kicked down putting words in your mouth? Here, supernatural laws kicked into operation here to bring that business up where it needed to be. Yes, it definitely did. So before that you were running on the devil’s program? Yes.

Would you say that you at that point were a thief stealing God’s money? Yes, definitely. The Bible says that you steal from me, you know. You know, when you really think about this.

He has all he’s in control of all the money where the people like to believe or not, anything that we have our homes or businesses. We’re just borrowing this for a short.

Hold it. Wait a minute. You’re saying God is control of the money. Whether you realize or not, you really believe that? Yes, I believe that he created this earth. He created us. He created all the animals. Why wouldn’t he be in control of everything? He set this Earth in motion. Put the sun up in all the stars and nothing has ever went wacky yet Jesus is in control.

It says in the Bible that you’ll rob me of blessings if you don’t tithe.

So he wants to bless you. That’s God loves to bless his people. He’s our father. He’s just like it. Gives you a great joy to go buy your first bicycle for your son that he can ride. Jesus is our father. He loves to bless us as a son just like we like to bless our children. So what you’re saying is when you’re out from under the covering of blessings.

Everything. Everything changes. Yes, once we started the ties, we played first and God showed us what to do. And we started time. From that day forward, we didn’t make any major business decisions without first hearing from the Holy.

I want to be debt free, and I’m on the way. I’m not there yet, but I’m on the way. I’m there in my spirit, not there in the natural. But the natural is.

That’s exactly right. See, Jesus does not force. Excuse me. Jesus does not force anybody to be saved. He makes it available. His death on the cross made it available. So we can have salvation.

He will bless you in business, but you can take it out of his control whenever you want to and run the thing on the ground again and bless the good Lord when you come and holler and help, he’ll come back and bail you out again.

Then the camel go through and I have a needle. OK let me talk to you just a little bit about that. We finally get enough money. We get self-sufficient. We can have all the nice cars. We can have. All the nice things in life. We get independent. We don’t need Jesus.

The Lord will show us a need in an area I can think of a of a situation that happened a few years ago. We was driving down the road. My wife and I.

And the Lord showed me to take X amount of dollars over to this one church, who’s a pastor was a friend of ours. We did not go to that church, but he’s a he’s a friend of ours.

And so I.

Like he told us to turn right there on the road. He was. I mean to go there right now. And so I just went over there and and went into the church or the office and and give him a check. I said the Lord just told me to give you this check. And when he broke down start ball.

It was just a few dollars, like two or three dollars more than they had been, fasting and praying for in that church. So the Lord will show you where needs are.

And these are these are actually offerings. This is above your ties that you give that the Lord talks about in the Bible and above the 10%, but the Lord will guide and direct your life.

To who needs something? We had a situation last week where a good pastor friend of mine, when the eastern part of the United States a A guy had given him some money and said the Lord had told him to give it to him. Well, when this guy got greedy, he was a businessman.

He said, well, I’m going to have to have payments on this in interest.

Soap instead of a gift, he turned around and made.

Two checks to tell you the whole story, and then he later got greedy. See the devil will move in any area that he possibly can and screw up your life. I promise you he.

So you’re saying that you’re saying that businessman started out right? He started out, right? He give it to him because the Lord told him. Then he decides. I’m going to get this back. So he said you got to make payments to me and interest. Well, it strapped the poor pastor so much be coming. And he said, would you pay for me? And so we did. We prayed.

I told my wife I said one or two things is going to happen. This man is either going to repent and turn around.

Or it’s going to get worse. Well, guess what? It got worse. The devil still stayed in control. So he. So he’s been trying to call me this pastor head. So, anyway, I called him back after about a week. And I visit with him a little bit. And he said, boy, he said pray for me again. He said this thing’s getting worse. The Lord moved on me just to pay this money to send him the money.

You know that he would repent, you know, and the and the pastor was so bogged down. He’s a wonderful man of God. He was so bogged down he couldn’t know how to preach anymore. And and it was just a bad situation. So he just started bawling on the phone. But I’m tell you something, folks, the Lord moves in a way that I could receive the blessing.

See, he really intended for the original blessing to be for the other pastor or for the other business for the other businessman.

But when you really stay close to the Lord, he will move in certain areas like this. Now we’ll get the blessing out of this. Matter of fact, the next day after we sent off this money, we sent it overnight to this gentleman. So he had it.

Like more than in excess of that would be like a 10% tie that we paid come in the next Monday, the next morning. Now we knew this money was going to come folks, but we didn’t know when it would come. We didn’t expect it like that. Federal Express brought in from the from a large company. So God knew and brought money back and we weren’t even expecting.

And we did large vehicles that we would purchase from my GM and Ford and and Freightliner and all the rest of the the truck people, we would take the actual cost of the vehicle out where we didn’t make no money on it. We didn’t do nothing. We just turned the actual vehicle and then we did our part of it. The bodies and the trailers and that and we paid the tire.

So you pay tide? Yeah, on on the part of what you did. OK. So what, what are you saying that to people that are in sales or people that have their own business, where would you tell them to begin?

I’m telling you, this is a big question. That’s why I’m spending some time on it. Let’s say that they’re out there and they got a small business and it’s primarily a service industry. They’re not buying like you did. You’re not buying a lot of product from somebody else but, well, let’s say it’s a service business.

Well, what I would do and what I believe the Bible says is, for instance, they when their funds come in their checks come in from the customers or whoever and and they get to the end of the month and they’ve and they’ve they’ve had the let’s say for instance they’ve.

$45,000 worth of income. And they’re sitting down here. So that’s that’s gross. So gross income is $45,000. They owe the good Lord 4500 bucks. So you’re saying that if they’ve had 45,000 sales or 45,000 in business, if that was your business, you’d pay, you’d pay tithe on that 10%?

Are they not? I’ve seen the day that you would have $1500 worth of bills to pay. I mean, you know that you owe people $1500 and you only had 1200 bucks, but you write out the checks and somehow God multiplies and don’t ask me how this happens. This is a real miracle. He will multiply it. That your $1200 will take care of the $1500 worth of bills.

Cannot be explained. These are just outright miracles. See, a guy can come around the corner and hand you $100 bill.

And says here that’s a miracle. I mean, he’s giving you $100 bill, and we all understand that. But then the Lord takes it and goes further. Like I said, he will take $1000 and make it pay $1500 worth of bills. And you’ll never understand how this happens. OK, let’s take this. This scenario we had a while ago. You down to the end of the month, you’ve done $45,000 worth of business. You’re saying you pay $4500.

That’s 10%. That’s first route. First route. OK. Now let’s take your example here. Now you sit down. You say I got $1500 worth of bills, but I’ve only got $1000 in the check.

And then you’re saying that God’s going to help you pay that $1500 worth of bills. The Lord will move some things and somehow to where your money will stretch and your bills will be paid now. But see, that’s that doesn’t make sense.

Doesn’t to me, but you know, right here is the crux where so many people get defeated that are in.

Now, how you know they’re trying to say? Now, look, I got $1500 worth. So. So let’s just say here they’ve got 65 or they’ve got $5500 in the bank at the end of the month, they’ve done $45,000 worth of business.

So they’re saying now, let’s see if I pay 10% here.

I won’t be able to pay my bills. I got $1500 worth of bills if I pay 4500, I’ve only got 5500. I’m already short $500. You follow me and they’re saying well.

The Lord’s just going to have to wait. He’s gotta understand I’ve got to pay these bills.

Oh, and the majority.

And the majority of people do this, see what makes a person think that Jesus is smaller on money than he is healing. So the person that has cancer, the doctor has diagnosed in this cancer, he’s completely full of cancer, somebody prays the prayer of faith.

Over him and he’s healed and he goes back to the doctor Doctor. So I can’t be yesterday or two days ago he was for cancer. That’s the same Jesus that can take your money and stretch it.

So you’re saying the same Jesus can heal your finances if he can heal your body, heal your finance. If he forgives your sins, he can get you out of debt. That that’s what.

You know, the mindset on the flesh is death, the mindset on the spirit is life and peace. What you’re telling me is back there when you decided to give that $10,000. You said I’m going to commit to do this. I’m going to commit to tithe.

I found out now since this has all happened that he has had a number of businesses and some of them have already failed.

Well, what we’re sharing with you here today, I mean, we’re just targeting this thing blowing and going here, you might say. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Folks, listen, listen to what Harley and Margaret tell.

You God has done exactly what he said. He doing the word. He doesn’t have any favorites. He doesn’t love these people because they’re flatlanders from Kansas more than he loves the people in Colorado or Oklahoma or Texas or wherever you’re listening today.

He goes by scriptural laws and principles and they work every time. And So what Holly is saying here and Margaret saying is, first of all, you need to make a commitment from your heart. Is is that right? Yes. It’s a heart matter. It’s not a head man.

And yes, Jesus said in Mark 14, he said keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation. Like this businessman. He started out right with good intention.

But he he yielded to temptation. And Jesus says here the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, and that’s the mindset on reason, you know. Well, this doesn’t figure. And we’ve got to let our hearts rule in this situation. Oh, that’s wonderful.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Well, OK. Let’s suppose we’re sitting down here with a business. Men and women of all ages, all different kinds of businesses. And now they got things pretty well screwed up. They got their credit cards mixed up. And, I mean, that’s pretty typical. They say the bank won’t extend us any more. Credit the line of credit is, you know, we can’t do anything more.
