Today we get to get back to some of the journals I wrote about these chapters. So let’s go back to 1983 when I was 28 years old. I read 1 Chronicles 4 through 9 on the same day, and I wrote History of Israel. The Bible is no fairy tale. It is a true story of people and their God. The record keeping and detail is incredible. I’m sure it is traceable. Praise God. Is it important to keep an accurate record of God’s intervention, guidance, and influence in my family? And that ended my journal entry in 1983. Fourteen years later, in 1997, I read 1 Chronicles 1-7 in one day and chapters 8-13 on another day. So, concerning that, I wrote, Not much excitement here in Chronicles unless you’re into genealogies. And the next day I wrote, Most of this is a review of 1 and 2 Kings. Twelve years later, in 2009, at 54 years old, I read 1 Chronicles 6 and 7 one day and 1 Chronicles 8 through 10 on another day. So concerning these chapters, I wrote, Am I a mighty man of valor? And I was referring to chapter 7, verses 2, 5, and 11. What is my genealogy? What is my legacy? That ends my journal entry in 2009. In chapter 7, there was a famous person’s genealogy. Did you catch it? Yes, it’s Joshua. It started in verse 20 and ended in verse 27. Joshua was a son of Ephraim. And down the line was the son of Nun, N-U-N. Joshua was the most famous Ephraimite. In the genealogy of chapter 8, there’s also a famous person in the scriptures, Saul. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin. Down the line from Benjamin, Saul was the son of Kish. And Saul became the first king of Israel, you might remember. And he had a son named Jonathan. And Jonathan and David were really, really close friends.
