SPEAKER 13 :
It’s the Kim Monson Show, analyzing the most important stories.
SPEAKER 10 :
An early childhood taxing district? What on earth is that?
SPEAKER 13 :
The latest in politics and world affairs.
SPEAKER 10 :
I don’t think that we should be passing legislation that is so complicated that people kind of throw up their hands and say, I can’t understand that.
SPEAKER 13 :
Today’s Current Opinions and Ideas.
SPEAKER 10 :
And it’s not fair just because you’re a big business that you get a break on this and the little guy doesn’t.
SPEAKER 13 :
Is it freedom or is it force? Let’s have a conversation.
SPEAKER 10 :
Indeed, let’s have a conversation. And welcome to The Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You each are treasured, you’re valued, you have purpose. Today, strive for excellence. Take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s Producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Amanda. and all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting. Happy Friday.
SPEAKER 21 :
Happy Friday, Kim.
SPEAKER 10 :
And we’ve got another great show planned for you today, so fasten your seatbelts. Check out our website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. And we have revamped the website, and we have added in our two new presses. So we now have our three presses, which is our broadcast, our community, which is a membership community where we are conversing, communicating, communicating, connecting, contemplating about these ideas, these issues that we are facing. And so love to have you join us. We’ve created our newsroom with writing important stories with great journalistic intent or integrity, excuse me. And so be sure and join us. You can do that by going to KimMonson.com. You can email me at Kim at KimMonson.com and text me at 720-605-0647. And as you know, we search for truth and clarity on the show by looking at these issues through the lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And it’s not compassionate, and it’s not altruistic to take other people’s stuff, whether or not it’s their rights, their property, freedom, livelihood, opportunity, childhood, or lives via force. And force can be a weapon, but it’s policy, unpredictable and excessive taxation, and Fees, fear, coercion, government-induced inflation, legislation that we see down at the Statehouse, the agenda of the World Economic Forum, which is basically control. It will be the haves and the have-nots. It gets rid of the middle class. And we see that playing out not only at the United Nations, but all the way to local governments and school districts. So that’s why it is so important. that we understand these issues. And remember, if something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to do it. And on the show, we focus on the issues. We will mention the people behind these issues, but we really work to stay out of all the personality stuff that can happen out there. Next thing, I wanted to say thank you to Laramie Energy for their gold sponsorship of the show. They are also gold sponsors of the Kim Monson community as well as the newsroom. But my friends, it’s reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant power from naturally occurring hydrocarbons such as oil, natural gas, and coal. that powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. And if you’re having any challenges with your own personal climate, reach out to Ben’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling. That number is 303-995-1636. Our word of the day is one that I came across, and it is dungeon. And it’s D-U-D-G-E-O-N. And it’s typically used in the phrase in high dungeon to describe someone who is angry and offended by something they perceive to be unfair or wrong. And the… Example from the dictionary is this. And this is spelled D-U-D-G-E-O-N. And our quote of the day is, is from William K. Carpenter. He is United States Marine Medal of Honor recipient, born in 1989. And this is a citation, and this is from the Center for American Values, their quote book of Medal of Honor recipients. And I’d highly recommend that you go to the website, AmericanValuesCenter.org, and purchase that so that you have that at home for your Freedom Library. But this is his citation. is for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as an automatic rifleman with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division, Ford, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Ford, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on 21 November 2010. Lance Corporal Carpenter was a member of a platoon-sized coalition force comprised of two reinforced Marine squads partnered with an Afghan National Army squad. The platoon had established patrol base Dakota two days earlier in a small village in the Magja district in order to disrupt enemy activity and provide security for the local Afghan population. Lance Corporal Carpenter and a fellow Marine were manning a rooftop security position on the perimeter of Patrol Base Dakota when the enemy initiated a daylight attack with hand grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Corporal Carpenter moved toward the grenade and in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine. By his undaunted courage, bold fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of almost certain death, Lance Corporal Carpenter reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service. And this is his quote. He said this, he said, Don’t waste it. Live a life worth living, full of meaning and purpose, and one that will make the fallen who are looking down on us proud. And that is William K. Carpenter, United States Marine, Medal of Honor recipient. And so be sure and check out their website for the Center for American Values, which is located in Pueblo. That website is AmericanValueCenter.org. That is AmericanValueCenter.org. And as the Avalanche are making their run towards the, or I’d say their march toward the Stanley Cup, the place to watch all the sports is Hooters Restaurants. And they have locations in Loveland, in Westminster, and in Aurora. And great specials Monday through Friday for lunch and for happy hour. But a great place to watch. get together with friends to watch the Avalanche, which is pretty darn exciting to watch them as they’re a very exciting team. I really haven’t been watching the games. I’m hearing play-by-plays from people in my sphere of influence. But be sure and check out Hooters Restaurants. And then the other thing, we talk about education on the show on a regular basis. And I’m very pleased to welcome Excalibur Classical Academy to the show. And there’s a new private school that’s opening this fall. It’s built with your family in mind. Excalibur Classical Academy serves kindergarten through third grade and offers 100% scholarship tuition for all students. The classical Christian education blends strong academics with joyful learning through phonics, math, music, art, and meaningful stories. They’re creating a community where children are known, supported, and challenged to grow in mind and character and where parents are respected. Enrollment is now open, so learn more by going to ExcaliburClassicalAcademy.org. This is an opportunity to get your family in on the ground level here. because I think as they move forward, eventually they’ll probably be to a waiting list. So again, that website is ExcaliburClassicalAcademy.org. And another great sponsor of the show is the Roger Mangan State Farm Insurance Team. And Roger and his team want you to feel safe and well-served and to understand your insurance coverage. You can call their office or text their office 24 hours a day, and they will respond. So give them a call, 303-795-8855, for that 24-hour peace of mind.
SPEAKER 14 :

And if you’d like to join them for lunch, you can make a contribution of $50 and just put lunch on there. On the line with me is Molly Lamar. She has been keeping us up to date with what has happened over at Cherry Creek School District. Cherry Creek School District used to be the school district people wanted to try to get their children into. But because of elections, school boards, and then the decisions that the school boards make regarding hiring the superintendent who is supposed to be the kind of the chief executive to run everything, what’s happened is that over the years, there’s become a very toxic environment there and people hiring family members and Molly and her team have been shedding a lot of light on this. Molly, I saw you yesterday at an event which I thought was really great, and I learned a lot. We’ll have to talk about that. But what’s happening? I said, do we have anything to talk about tomorrow? And you said, oh, yes, we do.
SPEAKER 06 :
So what is that? Well, good morning, Kim. I have to start with this email that I received on Tuesday. It’s just the ultimate proof of how arrogant The school board, thank you for mentioning the school board because truly I think all of this falls in their lap. But just how arrogant the school board has become. They scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday and I follow closely as to when meetings are gonna happen. So I saw that we were gonna have the opportunity to speak. So I signed up, I always have something to say. And when the online form asked for my speech topic, I put education, you know, simple, right? It’s a school board meeting. I’ll talk about education. We really need to focus on that. Tuesday afternoon, the district emails me back. They told me I was barred from speaking at this meeting because education was not on their meeting agenda. Okay.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, let’s connect that dot. The school board is saying that education is not on their agenda. Interesting.
SPEAKER 06 :
Yes, we’ve reached a point where education is considered off topic at a Cherry Creek school board meeting. What do you think they’re talking about over there? Maybe this is why we’re doing so poorly academically.
SPEAKER 10 :
I don’t know. So you were barred from speaking. Were you able to go to the meeting? No.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, you know, I think mother nature is on our side. God is on our side. And we had this major snowstorm and so school was canceled. The board meeting was canceled. And so lucky for me and lucky for them, um, it was rescheduled. So it will be this morning. So I have signed up to speak again. Um, and this time I was not barred because I chose the superintendent interim superintendent extension. They are extending the interim superintendent’s contract. You know, I’d like to point out that there has been no discussion, no transparency about this situation and why we would be moving to extend this interim superintendent’s contract without the parents weighing in, no surveys, you know, really just no outreach to the community to see how it’s going. We’ve got declining enrollment. We’ve got declining achievements in our schools. So I, we just continue to go down the same path. But this is their playbook. I mean, they hide behind these special meetings and these executive sessions to keep the public in the dark. We just saw that with Terry Bates, that school board member who was elected in November, who just had to step down. He resigned after a closed board meeting and the board tried to bury the reason. But I, you know me, I filed the open records request. And what we found was that he didn’t just make inappropriate comments. He made racist remarks targeting the Mexican community. And his apology was a private letter written just to the board. So here, you know, he insults the community, but he only says sorry to his friends. Because this is an insider’s club where they’re just working to protect the cabal and silence the parents.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, so Molly Lamar, we have talked about this, and that is, and we’re seeing it, in fact, I would say this is very similar, that regarding this, I think it’s COCO, what they’re trying to do with this rail line. They’re giving it a name and trying to romance it, but they’re taking $3 million of taxpayer money to work on the public relations of that. And so there’s something really wrong about, I call them PBIs, politicians, bureaucrats, and interested parties taking our money to then try to, um, almost trick us into voting for what they want us to do. I see the same thing, though, with school districts. I’ve seen it with the counties, with municipalities, where you will get a beautiful, glossy little magazine touting how wonderful everything is. School districts can do it by sending home letters to families, or I guess that was in the old days. They probably do it via email now. To really send out, I would say, almost propaganda. Is that still occurring over there at Cherry Creek School District?
SPEAKER 06 :
Oh, sure. I mean, every week the interim superintendent, Dr. Jen Perry, sends home a, look at all we’re doing, you know, rainbows and unicorns newsletter that’s truly fluff. Meanwhile, we’ve got this leadership upheaval campaign. I mean, we’re three weeks from the end of the school year. It’s been four months since Denver 7 exposed the rot in this district. And, you know, thank you so much for the exposure that you have continued to shed light on. We’ve got the toxic culture, nepotism, declining enrollment, failing student achievement. You would think that this board would want to fix this, to go into the summer on a high note. Instead, it’s like, I mean, it’s like watching the Titanic. They keep rearranging all the deck chairs, but the ship is still going down. We have a massive budget deficit. We’re cutting frontline jobs, and yet the same corrupt administrators are still on payroll. Some are under investigation and aren’t even working, yet they’re collecting our taxpayer checks. And have we seen changes? Yes. but we haven’t solved a single problem. We’ve just replaced one name with another while the culture stays toxic. And my question to the board is when are they going to take a different approach? When are they going to stop following the same failed script? Just like you mentioned, stop sending home propaganda, trying to trick us into thinking that everything is smelling like roses. For me, this is where hope and faith plays a real part. A couple of weeks ago, you had a guest on that inspired everyone to stay engaged and feel empowered. I mean, as parents and community members, we have a duty to ensure that every child has the opportunity to an excellent education and we owe it to our children to show up and speak up for them. I mean, as things stand now, we’re failing at our basic charge, which is educating them. And they deserve so much better. I mean, just all you have to do is look into the face of a child. And we all want the best for them. And they’re worth fighting for. Their education is the one thing that guarantees a better life.
SPEAKER 10 :
So, Molly, I really appreciate you stepping forward. And the reason that we’re doing these weekly updates on this is is because you can’t get third grade back. And you can’t get second grade back. And if kids are not learning in each of these grades where they’re supposed to be, they fall behind. And And we are paying a lot of money. We’re paying a lot in property taxes for something that is letting our kids down. And so that is why I appreciate what you’re doing. And that is why we are talking about this every week because we, as you say, we owe this to our children and our children’s children.
SPEAKER 06 :
We do. I just want to give a quick plug and say that our next board meeting is Monday the 11th. It’s at Horizon Middle School at 7 p.m. I would encourage anyone who, you know, has kids in the Cherry Creek School District, grandkids, nieces, nephews, whomever, to show up. And your presence matters. Your voice matters. Our kids deserve to… deserve advocates and people who are pulling for them. So thank you so much, Kim, for having me on.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, absolutely. And I just wanted to mention, we’ve got to have just a couple of minutes left. You and I were both at a luncheon yesterday, and a young podcaster spoke. Her podcast is… Culture. Culture. Yes, I can.
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah. Apothecary.
SPEAKER 10 :
And and she said that this really resonated with me, that there are those on both the left, obviously, but there are those on the right that are really. Trying to take away hope. She mentioned Candace Owens is suggesting people not vote. And she called it something I hadn’t heard, which was black pill. And that is this narrative out there that things are hopeless. And her name’s Alex Clark. Yeah. Yeah, Alex Clark. And she really, I thought, she said, we must not give up. And mamas, mama bears, and that doesn’t just have to be mamas. These are people that care about our kids. We need to step up, be involved, vote, know what’s going on. I thought it was just really inspirational yesterday, Molly.
SPEAKER 06 :
It was, and she was so young. You know, I do think that I… I personally have three kids in college right now. But just even feeling the turning of the tide among the young people, they’re tired of this. Our children want to be educated. They want to be taught how to be free thinkers. They love our country. Unfortunately, well, not unfortunately for us, Unfortunately for the left, I think they went too far. The DEI that they pushed on our children, all of this anti-American rhetoric that they pushed in classrooms, it went too far. And our children are smarter. They want an education. They want freedom. Just among my own children and their peers and their friends, there has been a real culture shift. So I thought she did amazing. And I just loved hearing this young voice really shout in favor of freedom.
SPEAKER 10 :
I as well. So Molly Lamar, we will talk next week. Have a great day. Keep up the great work. And again, when is that meeting? It’s Monday night at 7 p.m. at Horizon Middle School. Okay. We got it. So very good. Thank you. And we have these important discussions because of our sponsors. And we’ll have Teddy Collins on in the next hour. He’s very busy. He not only has the family business, Spartan Defense, but also he is running for Colorado State Senate. And really appreciate these everyday people, which is how our country was founded, standing up. and running for office and representing us, we the people.

Thank God it’s…
SPEAKER 10 :
Indeed, it is Friday and welcome back to the Kim Monson Show. Be sure and check out our website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N dot com. And pleased to have on the line with me General Joe Arbuckle. He’s retired Army. And when I want to talk with him about organization that he’s on the board, STARS, which is eliminating CRT, DEI and woke ideology in the military. And then also about the Iran war. General Arbuckle, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 19 :
Thanks a lot, Ken. It’s always a pleasure to be on your show and speak with you again. And also thank you for your continued great work in restoring our country back to our fundamental values and specifically the state of Colorado.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, we’ve got our work cut out for us here in Colorado, General Arbuckle, but I really think something positive. There’s something, there’s an undercurrent of positive there. And it’s because so many people have had an uneasy feeling. Something’s not quite right. And you and others at STARS, S-T-A-R-R-S, that’s stars.us, have been sounding the alarm on what’s happening in the military for a while. So bring us up to date with what is happening at STARS.
SPEAKER 19 :
Sure. Yeah, I’m still on the board. And one of our main missions is to educate the public, Kim, on what’s happening to our country. And what I’m talking about here is the movement of indoctrination of socialism and Marxism in our country, which really goes back to the 1930s with some Marxists that came over from Germany and set up shop in the Teachers College at Columbia University. And that’s been expanding ever since and exploded in the 1960s, of course, with the Cultural Revolution. But to get that point across, we’ve created a really powerful presentation called The American Creed Threatened by Marxism. radical indoctrination. And here we’re starting with our American creed, which is, of course, found in our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights. And we talk about how that is so fundamental to our country. That’s where we came from. And then how that is threatened by socialism and Marxism. We’re giving this briefing to any groups that are interested in hearing it. Most recently, we were down in Pueblo at the Center for American Values. You know that very well. I do. Major Drew Dix. Yeah. Medal of Honor Research. our great advisors. And if anybody wants to take a look at it, it’s on our STARS website. That’s S-T-A-R-R-S dot U-S. And you just have to scroll down. There’s a lot of information there, but you’ll see a picture of myself and Colonel Ron Scott giving it down at the CAF. So that’ll give you a glimpse. And if anybody’s interested, again, we give it to church groups and various veterans organizations, anybody that really wants to get spun up on what’s happening in our country.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and so the best way to request that is to go to the website, correct? And I see you can sign up for the newsletter, and I’m sure it’s an extensive website, so there’s a lot of things going on there. So, General Arbuckle, I’m the president of CUT, Colorado’s Union of Taxpayers. And it’s an all-volunteer group. We’re celebrating our 50th birthday this year. And we look at legislation down at the statehouse through this lens of how does it affect the taxpayers, Tabor, Colorado’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights, property rights, and parental rights. And then I’ve got two young producers. Well, my producer, Producer Joe, and there’s another producer here. They’re both 27 years old. And we started something. where we are doing book reviews. So the first book I chose, which was Henry Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson. So we got through that. Then producer Luke chose Machiavelli’s The Prince, and we just finished that. So producer Joe has chosen The Communist Manifesto, and we just started that, and we just didn’t even get through the preface. But the bottom line with socialism, with communism, is the abolition of property rights. And yet inherent in the American idea is property rights. And so when we see legislation that starts to put people into different groups and taxing them differently, people may think that they’re helping one group. But when it’s inherent in socialism and communism to put people into groups, treat them differently, and And then try to divide them. Do you agree, I guess?
SPEAKER 19 :
Oh, yes, absolutely. You’re exactly right. Two points are real quick. I would encourage your listeners to get on the web and do a search for the 45 communist goals that were read into the congressional record. in 1963, 45 goals. And then ask yourself, as you read those, how much, how well have they accomplished their goals? And it’s shocking when you look at that, uh, number two, coming back to what you just said. Yeah. That’s the basis of, um, of communism. That is to divide people into groups, set up an oppressor and oppressed mentality. And, uh, and with that, of course, uh, the oppressed, uh, Want to have special privileges that can be found in many ways, such as taxes, like you said. More taxes for some and less for others. But the whole idea is to put people into groups and pit them against each other. Now, bring that forward to diversity, equity, and inclusion. That’s exactly what’s at the heart of that. People are divided into groups based upon their identity characteristics. And that would be their skin color, their gender, their sexual orientation, ethnicity, and then set up this victimhood stuff where one group is being oppressed and the other is not. And that creates conflict. And the end result out of communism that they want from all that is revolution. Back in 1848, when Marx and Engels published the manifesto, Of course, it was based upon economic disparities, but today they were using that based upon social disparities, as I said, based upon identity groups, skin color, etc. But the fundamentals of Marxism never change. It’s all about dividing people, pitting them against each other, creating unrest, and hopefully at the end of that revolution, today, it’s a cultural revolution.
SPEAKER 10 :
It’s interesting you would say that on those groups because I went online for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. They were taking comments regarding this group. It’s probably from Jared Polis’s partner. regarding animal rights, but they want to get rid of the commercial fur business here in Colorado. And they are trying to do that via the bureaucratic state. People could make comments, and the last day to do that was on Sunday the 3rd. So I went online to make my comments. All I wanted to do was just make comments. But you had to go through and answer a variety of questions. And the questions were the division questions. What’s your ethnicity? What’s your gender identity? All those things. I thought that is so crazy to me that they would ask those questions when I just want to make some comments at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. So to your point on stars and the military, this DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or SEL, social emotional learning, this is so permeated throughout our society right now that we have to A, recognize it, and B, stand up against it. So I scroll down, and all my answers were prefer not to answer, prefer not to answer, which is what I think we really should probably answer.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yes, exactly. Right. Yeah. You’re right. We’ve been indoctrinated since the sixties with this sort of thing. And it’s really accelerated in 2008 with Obama. And of course, then we had a Trump came in for four years and slowed it down. Then Biden comes in and really puts it on steroids, pushing this DEI critical race theory, all that’s tied together directly. And yes, it has permeated our, our society and unfortunately our military. And that’s frankly why STARS was born about six years ago with CRT being injected into the military at the Air Force Academy. That’s how this all started. That’s how we came together as a bunch of volunteers and looked around and said, wow, this is dangerous. We’ve got to do something. And that’s really it. our roots. And we have had two strategic goals in STARS since. As I mentioned, one, that is get rid of PEI in the military. The other is to get rid of the illegal COVID vaccination policy. And we played a key role in getting that done. But if people want to dive into this, as I said, and look at that briefing, I highly encourage it on the website. And coming back to your question, if there is a group that wants us to present it, they can let you know, you can let me know, or get on our STARS website and we’ll go from
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. And one other thing over at the STARS website is you have highlighting this movie, Duty to Disobey. And Pam Long, who is a great contributor here at the Kim Monson Show, she’s an author and a guest regularly, had brought this to my attention. And we had Brad Miller on yesterday, who he had actually… And denied or disobeyed, he would not take the COVID vaccine and he would not order his soldiers to do that as well. So that’s how this movie came about. And it’s important that people buy tickets by May 15th. The showing is June 30th. But to buy your ticket early because then that shows support for the documentary that it can be shown here. There’s four locations here in Colorado. So I thought, as I looked at your website, I thought, huh, that’s just so interesting. We had Brad on yesterday and we have you on today.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, very coincidental. Also on that is Lieutenant Colonel Teresa Long, Dr. Long. And she’s quite famous, as you know. We were talking to her. I’ve been in communication with her very regularly. I was in communication with her last week and And she’s got a wealth of information about the extreme harms done to members of our military because of the medical conditions that the vaccination had created.
SPEAKER 10 :
And it’s interesting. Last night I was at an event, and it seems like everybody’s younger than me now, General Arbuckle, but a young guy who I had interviewed him a few years ago. He’s a neighbor, and he’s a reservist. But he came up with his wife, and I didn’t recognize him initially because he had a beard. And I said, oh. And he said, I just got back from a 10-month visit. deployment with special forces in the Middle East. And I said, I think I need to interview you again for America’s Veterans Stories. But we were talking about the vaccine. And I said, I’d had Brad Miller on yesterday morning. And he said that he ended up because the military required him to do that to take the vaccine. And so it was a really, it was not only a weird time in America, but a really weird time in the military with that whole COVID thing.
SPEAKER 19 :
Yeah, but let me explain something on the vaccine real quick because people may be wondering why we are against that particular vaccine. Lord knows I’ve had every vaccination in the world over 32 years in the military. We’re not against vaccinations, obviously. They’re important. What we’re against was this particular one because it was issued under emergency use only authorizations, which means that before a service member was required to take it, they had to have informed consent about the dangers associated with the vaccination. That did not happen. People were just forced to have it. And that’s where it became illegal. On top of that, for those who objected based upon religious grounds, they were ignored, basically. And that violated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. And so there’s a couple of things that are very seriously wrong with this particular vaccination. And that’s the root cause of it.
SPEAKER 10 :
OK, thank you for that clarification. General Arbuckle. And we’re going to continue with General Arbuckle. I’d like to get his thoughts about this Iran war. These important discussions happen because of our sponsors for everything mortgages. Talk to Lorne Levy.

And again, Mint Financial Strategies is a great sponsor of the show, and they’re also helping me with my own financial freedoms. And so that, again, is Jody at mentfs.com. We are talking with General Joe Arbuckle, retired Army, and he is a board member of STARS, and that website is starrs.us. So, General Arbuckle, the Iran War, what’s your perspective on this?
SPEAKER 19 :
Well, first, let me recognize our great military. I am extremely proud. at the way our military has been performing here in that operation and two previous to that. I mean, their professionalism and dedication is unmatched, and hats off to them. So that’s number one. Number two, let me come back to the war itself, because in order to understand it, there’s some other things that need to be put into perspective here. And that is Trump has a grand, President Trump has a grand strategy here. He’s doing a lot of things at once. And you combine them all together, the end result is, and here’s the bottom line, China is the big loser in all these things that he’s doing. For example, he basically got China kicked out of the Panama Canal recently. He’s declared the Gulf of Mexico now the Gulf of America. He’s talked about Canada and our relationships there. The need to have Greenland as a strategic asset in the world And it certainly is. And in the Western Hemisphere, of course, he’s basically reinstating the Monroe Doctrine, which says the United States has to control what’s going on in the backyard. And with Operation Absolute Resolve, he got Maduro out, of course, of Venezuela. That had a positive spinoff effect in Peru and Brazil, who were also involved in drugs and stuff in the United States and Cuba. All this is in the Western Hemisphere. And those actions he took, again, hurt China because of their involvement. China was putting deep inroads in our Western Hemisphere, our backyard, in other words, turned to Southwest Asia. Now, first Midnight Hammer, of course, that happened. We tried to knock out the nukes in Iran and their ballistic missile capability. We got most of it, but not all of it. And so now Epic Resolve has been launched in February. And most recently, as you know, he’s blocked the streets of Hormuz, which is a brilliant move because that strangles Iran economically. And that’s a key point. and out of that also is a loser that’s china because 80 90 of china’s oil comes through the straits out of iran and out of that we also learned that we cannot rely upon our nato allies they fail to support our operations in that so a lot of strategic things are happening there are positives surrounding this particular operation tied to that you don’t hear much out of ukraine in europe And Trump is saying, hey, NATO, that’s in your backyard. You’ve got to take charge of that. And so there’s another major geopolitical strategic move that’s tied with his grand strategy. And so my point is, all this, the big loser is China. And that’s great because he’s going there next week, as you know, to talk to Xi. And that’s going to be a very interesting conversation. Where is the war going in Iran? I think the next week or two are going to be key in this because the country, as I said earlier, is economically strangling. They’ve got a lot of internal turmoil right now. And here’s our problem from the United States. We don’t know exactly who’s in charge. At least I don’t. Maybe our personal, our intelligence people do. But there are multiple fractions there. They’ve got the most community junior who’s now been called the great leader. They’ve got the parliament, some spokesmen out of their parliament. They’ve got a president coming out of Iran speaking. And the real problem is the IRGC, the military, the radical parts of their military. And I think personally that they’re probably calling the shots. I don’t know that for certain. Then they have their regular army as another faction. Then you’ve got the normal people within Iran. So who’s in charge? That’s the big issue. And you can’t trust the negotiators because they can’t make decisions. They’re just mouthpieces. So it’s a very complex situation. Again, I think it’s going to come to head in the next week or two.
SPEAKER 10 :
What’s your thoughts about there are those that say that Trump is being controlled by Netanyahu. What would you say to that?
SPEAKER 19 :
Oh, absolutely not. There’s nobody that controls President Trump, for sure. And yeah, certainly he’s talking to Netanyahu on a very regular basis. In fact, I heard Netanyahu say yesterday, almost on a daily basis, they’ve been in conversations because they have to be. We’re both working the same issue here, and that is to get the nukes out of Iran. get rid of their ballistic missiles, get rid of their ability to control terrorism. And here’s where Israel comes in with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi rebels. So all that’s tied together, and it’s right in Israel’s backyard, so to speak.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. And to your point regarding our military, they really are performing at an amazing level. And every one of our military is loved and cherished by someone, as you know, your retired general in the Army. And so anytime we are putting our military at risk, I think the American people, they don’t like the idea of war. And so I think it’s important that Trump communicate. The way you connected this whole grand strategy, I hadn’t ever really heard that, General Arbuckle. And this makes a lot of sense. And one thing on the Straits of Hormuz, I was talking to a young millennial. recently and he said he thought this was brilliant iran says we’re going to you know blockade the straits and trump’s like okay then i’ll blockade your blockade and this is this young guy said this is one of the most brilliant military moves that he’d ever really seen yes absolutely and here’s the thing uh there are four instruments of power every nation has it’s uh it’s number one the political or diplomatic number two economic is another power
SPEAKER 19 :
Three is the psychological operations, basically, and four is military. And, of course, you want to use the military as a last resort in our country for obvious reasons. The point is the art of statesmanship, and I’m talking about President Trump right now, is to combine those four elements of power at any given time to get maximum benefit out of those. And it’s not a fixed principle. Ratio, it changes almost daily. Do you have more economic power used today or more diplomatic power? Do you have more military power? What’s appropriate for the situation? He is doing a masterful job at combining those four elements of our power to impose our will on the Iranians and China in the bigger picture. He’s a masterful statesman.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. And when you say our will, we’ve got a couple of minutes left. How would you define our will?
SPEAKER 19 :
Our will is to make America first again and stay out of foreign engagements as best we can. President Trump doesn’t like going to war. I mean, he’s made that very clear. He’s been that way forever. And getting back to our roots in our country, which comes back to our presentation in Starz, get rid of socialism and Marxism, take us back to our constitutional republic and what that means to our country, in particular, our Bill of Rights.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, Colonel, I was thinking Colonel Rutledge, sorry. General Arbuckle, I think that we, you and I have talked about this. I think that we are at a 1775 moment here in an ideological battle in our country. And it’s very exciting. I think, I don’t think, I know the divine provider had his hand on America 250 years ago. And I believe that he has his hand on us now, General Arbuckle.
SPEAKER 19 :
Indeed, go back to our motto, Kim, in God we trust. That’s in our county documents. It’s in our coins, our currency. Yeah, it’s got to be in God we trust, and we need to buy the intervention to bail us out of this.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, and that’s why yesterday’s National Day of Prayer is so important, and it shouldn’t be just one day. Every day we pray for our country, for our leaders. General Arbuckle, thank you to all that you are doing to your team at STARS. It’s been much too long since we’ve talked, so we’ll have to have you on again very, very soon, and thank you.
SPEAKER 19 :
Always a pleasure, and thank you, Kim, and God bless America.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, indeed. And our quote for the end of the show is from Teddy Roosevelt. He said this, Believe you can, and you’re halfway there. So, my friends, today be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you. God bless America. Stay tuned for hour number two.
SPEAKER 04 :
And fast on a rough road, riding high through the mountains, climbing, twisting, turning further from my home. Young like a new moon, rising fierce through the rain and lightning, wandering out into this great unknown. And I don’t want no one to cry But tell them if I don’t survive

It’s the Kim Monson Show. Analyzing the most important stories.
Welcome to our number two of the Kim Monson Show. Thank you so much for joining us. You each are treasured, you’re valued, you have purpose. Today’s drive for excellence, take care of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your body. My friends, we were made for this moment in history. Thank you to the team. That’s producer Joe, Luke, Rachel, Zach, Echo, Charlie, Mike, Amanda. And all the people here at Crawford Broadcasting, happy Friday, Producer Joe.
SPEAKER 21 :
Happy Friday, Kim.
SPEAKER 10 :
You and I were talking. If you missed the first hour, General Joe Arbuckle, retired Army and board member of STARS, went through and connected the dots on Donald Trump’s, President Donald Trump’s strategy on this international geopolitical level. And it was so interesting, Joe.
SPEAKER 21 :
I thought it was fascinating too and I really like like nobody’s ever said all of it together together before and hearing all of it together it really was like an aha moment it was
SPEAKER 10 :
It really was. And he said, ultimately, the goal is China. And of course, China is, you know, would like to get rid of America. They’d like to rule the world. And so that was really interesting how he connected all those dots. And you had you made an interesting comment to me during in between. And that is, is that the media. has been basically trying to piece each thing out and then kind of go at it many times in a negative way. And I thought that was a great observation by you, Joe.
SPEAKER 21 :
Yeah, it just kind of feels like a magic trick. It’s like they just keep pulling along what our attention is on. And like I said, nobody’s ever put all of them together. And I think that was totally on purpose.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yeah, and so again, if you missed that, we will have our recap of the show with the podcast up by noon, or you can also listen to it in the one to two hour on all KLZ 560 platforms. And so go to our website, join our community. It is growing and very excited about it. There’s three different membership levels, and you can do that at kimMonson.com. Alan Thomas taught his third class last night on the Federalist Papers. And if you miss it, and I know everybody’s busy, it is archived and you can watch it at your leisure. And you can do all that at the website. The text line is 720-605-0647. We search for truth and clarity by looking at these issues through this lens of freedom versus force, force versus freedom. If something’s a good idea, you should not have to force people to implement it. And on the show, we focus on the issues. We will mention the people behind those issues, but we work diligently to stay out of personality, fighting, name-calling, all those things, unless Kane’s on the show. When Kane’s on the show, he does a little name-calling. That’s his personality, but we really try to stay out of that as much as possible. I want to say thank you to our goal sponsors. And today, I’ll mention Laramie Energy. They are a goal sponsor of both the show and of the Kim Monson community and newsroom. And it is reliable, efficient, affordable, and abundant power from naturally occurring hydrocarbons, such as oil, natural gas, and coal, that powers our lives, fuels our hopes and dreams, and empowers us to change our own personal climate. And if you are having any challenges with your own personal climate, reach out to Ben’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling. That number is 303-995-4255. And our word of the day is dungeon. And it’s typically, it’s spelled D-U-D-G-E-O-N. And it’s typically used in the phrase in high dungeon to describe someone who is angry and offended by something they perceive to be unfair or wrong. And we could probably use that. I’m going to use that word, I think, regarding our next sponsor and who’s on the line with us is Teddy Collins with Spartan Defense. Teddy, I would say that you are dungeon regarding all of these attacks upon our Second Amendment rights down at the Statehouse. Teddy Collins, Spartan Defense, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER 18 :
Hey, Kim, thanks for having me on this morning.
SPEAKER 10 :
And what is happening regarding our Second Amendment rights?
SPEAKER 18 :
Well, luckily, this last week, we had the Department of Justice finally step up and file a letter of demand to Denver, in which they basically said, bring it. And now we have a lawsuit coming out of the Department of Justice against what they call the assault weapons ban in Denver, whatever that means, as well as the magazine capacity limitations.
SPEAKER 10 :
This is a really big deal. And you and many that you work with were pretty instrumental in making this happen, I think, yes? Yes.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, around two weeks before, we were up at the NRA convention and meeting in Houston, Texas, and we ran into Acting Attorney General Bob Blanche and had a pretty good discussion with him and essentially pleaded with him to look into Colorado and look into ways that the DOJ could basically help us here because our civil rights are being violated and our Second Amendment rights. And he said that he was forming a new task force essentially to do so, and we would hear something within a couple weeks. And right on par, about two weeks, we did. A lawsuit was filed. It’s great.
SPEAKER 10 :
And what has been Mayor Mike Johnston’s response to this, Teddy Collins?
SPEAKER 18 :
His response was essentially bringing it that these laws are constitutional and they’ve been on the books for 20 or 30 years, in some cases, especially with the AWB ban in Denver. And, yeah, they’re going to fight it tooth and nail, but I wish them the best of luck. Not really, because the federal government has a pretty good track record of winning their lawsuits.
SPEAKER 10 :
Don’t you find it interesting that Mike Johnston, Mayor Mike Johnston, has said that we will not follow the Constitution, basically. And the fact that these laws have been on the books for many years is, and this has been very subtle, and I remember when I was on City Council 2012 to 2016, this is not an issue that I really took on, but I should have. And that is the posting that in all of the city buildings is, that there would be no individuals carrying firearms. And at the time I thought, huh, that’s interesting. But that had predated me and that was in 2012. So this assault upon our Second Amendment rights has been going on for a good, 30 years, I think. Well, yes, because that’s what Johnston’s just said, that it’s been on the books for about 30 years. So they’ve been at this for a long time to try to disarm the people. And that’s what tyrants do, is they disarm the everyday people. And you can see that throughout history.
SPEAKER 18 :
Absolutely. And I mean, it’s the boiling frog method. They just keep increasing the temperature every year, adding these little things, adding piece by piece. And you know, In debate, the slippery slope argument is technically a fallacy, but that’s exactly what they’re doing. It’s little piece by little piece. They’re taking away our rights, and we have to stand our ground. We can’t budge an inch. We can’t give an inch, and we have to fight back.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and just think about Johnston. He has welcomed in people across the border, which we don’t know anything about them. And, uh, they could be criminals. They may be coming here to hurt us. Um, they may be coming to just live off of, uh, everyday hardworking people. And then we may have people that have come here through like the asylee programs that are defrauding us.
SPEAKER 18 :
And so, but absolutely. I mean, the, the amount of, the amount of crime we’re seeing, I mean, look what happened in Aurora. Look at the, uh, trend day Aragua there. I mean, do you think they’re obeying gun laws when they’re armed with fully automatic AK 47s? And, uh, and things of that nature? No, they’re not. The Second Amendment is for law-abiding citizens, not for criminals. And unfortunately, when there’s laws placed against the Second Amendment, outlaws are the only ones that are going to be in possession.
SPEAKER 10 :
And that’s why people stepping forward, everyday people, just like our founding, everyday people, merchants, businessmen, farmers, stepping forward to run for office, to be representative of the people is so important. And that is what you are doing, Teddy. And it’s a family event. It’s family commitment to do this. And I’ve seen you and your family. You’ve got a new baby that you are out there. So tell us a little bit about your campaign.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, so running for state Senate District 4, that’s Mark Baisley’s former seat. I don’t have a primary anymore. I cleared my primary out of assembly, just focusing on the general election and making sure to keep the seat red because the Democrats only need to pick up one seat to take a supermajority and pass whatever pipe dreams they want. So it’s very important that we support our state senator candidates for the Republican Party. as well as our state representative candidates for the Republican Party across the state of Colorado, whether they’re in your district or not, they need your support. You’ve got to support them. Otherwise, we could lose the legislator to a supermajority of Democrats, and then they will do whatever they want. I mean, U5003 was banned on the semi-automatic ban. Imagine if they had an assault weapons ban on top of that, banning certain features on firearms. It’s a mess, and they’re already talking about it. They’re talking about requiring background checks for ammunition. I mean, this is scary stuff.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and that’s how our country was founded was the battles of, I think, Lexington and Concord. The British were going to try to take the ammunition. And so this is nothing new when tyrants are trying to disarm the people. Now, Mother’s Day is this Sunday. If people have not done their shopping yet, they could probably get a gift certificate at Spartan Defense for the mother in their life that they want to protect, right?
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, over at Spartan, we do have gift cards available. Also, we can make something custom. If you don’t just want something that you can buy off the rack and you want us to do something custom on it, we can Cerakote, we can laser engrave, we can make it a truly special gift for that individual.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and give us the websites both for Spartan Defense and for your campaign.
SPEAKER 18 :
Yeah, it’s going to be SpartanDefense.com. We will be having a sale this weekend as well for Mother’s Day, so definitely stop by, but that’s SpartanDefense.com. And for my campaign, it’s Collins4Colorado.com. It’s C-O-L-L-I-N-S-F-O-R-Colorado.com. It’s spelled out. And, yeah, I hope to earn your support, folks, and I hope to see you over at Spartan Defense this weekend.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. Teddy, thanks so much. We’ll talk with you next week.
SPEAKER 18 :
Hey, thanks, Kim. God bless, and God bless Colorado. Thank you.
SPEAKER 10 :

Thank you so much for having me. Well, and you are the spokesperson for this exhibition regarding Van Gogh. Yes. I’m familiar and I love his painting Starry Night, but I don’t know. I know that he had mental health issues. That’s all I know. So what what about him? Tell us more.
SPEAKER 07 :
OK, you know, to be honest, Kim, I was I was just like you. I pretty much all I knew about Van Gogh was that he cut off his own ear or gotten an ear cut off. I feel like that’s kind of what people know a lot about him. But I think especially after seeing this exhibition, I think it’s so unfair to reduce him to that. You know, he was such a prolific artist. And sadly, he did suffer. And like you just said, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. And in those days, a lot of artists suffered. A lot of artists still suffer today. You know, sometimes it’s a blessing and a curse of being a creative person. But… I think the takeaway here is that he was able to take that turmoil, take that pain that he was feeling inside and turn it into something beautiful and creative that is still impacting the world today.
SPEAKER 10 :
So what is his story? And mental illness, what’s the background on it? Because it seems that we’re having some real challenges with mental health in the United States today. So what was his background? How did he get to where he was?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, to be honest, in his time, he was suffering, but we didn’t really have the words for it at that time. So it was really hard, you know, during those times, during the 1800s, you know, anyone that was weird or different or deemed, you know, crazy was likely just thrown into an asylum. But for him, the asylum is when he was able to do a lot of his best work. While he was in the asylum, that’s when he painted one of his most famous works, Starry Night, as you mentioned. And he was able to paint. the stars in the sky from memory. And astrologists still look at it today and say it’s accurate. Really? Yes. So, yeah, he did a lot of his best, most memorable work there from the mental institution, you know, the asylum, as it was called back then. But also while he was in the asylum, and this is something special about this exhibition here in Denver. It’s got a couple of new rooms. It’s got the sunflower room, which Van Gogh was known for painting in many floral pieces he loves to paint sunflowers that’s another one of his most famous works um and there is a room dedicated to the letters that he wrote to his brother while he was in the asylum the letters room is actually it’s very emotional to see these letters we know of course we’ve reproduced them they’re all over the wall they’re broadcasted on a screen and then we have um a voice, an actor who is reading them as Van Gogh. And it’s really powerful to hear some of the words, to hear his words and to hear what he was going through. You know, he expressed a lot of his emotional instability and turmoil in those letters to his brothers. So it’s a really great, what I also love about this exhibition, in addition to the art, you know, we’re getting a closer look inside the art. We’re also getting a closer look inside of his mind, inside of his world. You know, there’s a lot of, There’s a lot of visuals. There’s a lot of beautiful art, beautiful technology. Mary’s really beautifully with the art. There’s music. There’s also, that’s why we recommend people to give themselves at least 60 to 90 minutes to experience the exhibition. Because there is, in addition to all the beautiful art, all the beautiful installation, there’s also a lot of information there. on the walls about Van Gogh, about his family, about his best friend. It’s really interesting to take a look back at that. And I hope it really inspires people because I know it definitely inspires me.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and I am going to view the exhibit this afternoon, so I’m excited about that. Oh, good.
SPEAKER 07 :
You’re going to love it.
SPEAKER 10 :
And look, Kendra, this is so interesting. I’m from a little town in western Kansas, and all these little towns always try to do something unique, like they have a big buffalo or whatever. My little town, they actually have a huge Van Gogh painting that And of course, sunflowers are the state flower of Kansas as something that tourists come off of I-70 and they look at. It’s in a little town called Goodland, Kansas. I think that’s just such a coincidence that that’s the case. And we’re talking about Van Gogh today.
SPEAKER 07 :
Yeah, I mean, but again, I think that really speaks to his impact. Yeah. that a little town in Kansas is still, you know, kind of honoring him or paying tribute to him or being impacted by him. And I, you know, I’ve been saying this. He only lived to be 37. It seemed like he had a lot of emotional turmoil in his life. But I hope wherever he is right now, I hope he is smiling. Even though maybe he didn’t get to enjoy his life while he was on this earth, I do hope that he sees you know, what his pain, how he was able to harness that into beautiful creativity that is impactful, even in your small town in Kansas, which is fantastic. I mean, I’m from a small town in Georgia, so I get it.
SPEAKER 10 :
I’m a small town girl myself. The great thing about small towns, LaKindra, is that you know everybody. And the negative thing about small towns is that you know everybody. They know everything about you and you know everything about them, which is positive and negative. how did he ever get a claim for his work during his life?
SPEAKER 07 :
You know what? It doesn’t seem like, I don’t think he got enough acclaim during his life, to be honest. Um, I’m not really sure about how people were, you know, impact or how people were viewing him during his lifetime. Um, but it does seem like really he had to, he had one close friend. I can’t, his name is escaping me right now. And he had his brother. Those were, they seem like those are the two people that were closest to him. Um, I’m not really, I’m not really sure. You know, if he was appreciated in his lifetime, again, in those short 37 years, And that could be possibly what caused him all of that emotional pain. Because I mean, I live in L.A. being in the entertainment industry. I get it. You know, we have these big dreams. And being in the entertainment industry, being a creative person, it’s one of the hardest gigs out there. You can be talented, but people might not get it. It can be really, really stressful. And that’s why for me, even as somebody who, you know, I’m like you, I’m a small town girl. I’m certainly not an art expert. I am not an art aficionado at all. But I still was. able to i went and felt very impacted by all of not only the beautiful art but also just the message of you know what hang in there because it’s hard we’re all we all have our big dreams we all have our things that we’re good at sometimes it stinks when you’re not being recognized for something when you know you’re really really good at it um but i think the lesson for all of us in 2026 is Hang in there, because eventually the right people will see you. The right people will appreciate you. You will find I would say you’ll find your tribe. So I don’t know if he had his tribe while he was alive on Earth. And if not, that’s that makes me sad for him. And I’m sure that caused a lot of, you know, the turmoil in his life.
SPEAKER 10 :
You know, I was talking with someone – I have this other show, America’s Veteran Stories, and we were talking about PTSD. And that is a message for – and we all go through struggles. But take that next step. Walk through it. And there’s a quote, now I can’t remember who said it. It says, tough times don’t last, but tough people do. And so keep taking that step. We’re going to continue the discussion with LaKendra Tooks. This is opening today, May 8th. Here in Denver, Van Gogh, The Immersive Experience, and it’s more than just an art exhibit. It’s an emotional and sensory journey into the life and mind of one of history’s most brilliant yet troubled artists. And I know I’ve got, there’s a lot of information here. And do you have it at your fingertips there, LaKindra, where people can get tickets? I’ll get it during the break if not.
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, yeah. It’s just sort of Van Gogh Expo dot com slash Denver to get more information. It’s for all ages. Kids under four or three. But you can book because I do recommend, like I said, giving yourself some time to be there. And you can kind of like book a time, you know, a slot of time, which I highly recommend. It does get. clouded and then for any other ticketing needs or questions um fever is the company that handles all of the ticketing for exhibition hub who is uh the company that puts on all these incredible immersive experiences i know in denver you guys also had titanic and you guys also had uh the dinos alive exhibition And so now, for anyone who saw those exhibitions, I didn’t get to see those and I’ve heard people raving about them. But for anyone who saw those exhibitions, I think they would, they’ll really, really, they know what they’re in for, for the Van Gogh exhibition. And for anyone else, it really is just, it’s beautiful and honestly prepared to walk away feeling inspired.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and again, that’s Fever, where you can get the tickets. We’re going to continue the discussions with Lekindra Tooks. I want to hear more of her story. This is fascinating, from a kid in a small town in Georgia to being in L.A., and also we want to talk about how important mental health is here in America. These important discussions happen because of our sponsors, and to have any help with your own personal climate, talk to Ben’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling.

SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, I have Friday on my mind as well. Check out the website. That is Kim Monson, M-O-N-S-O-N.com. A couple of things I wanted to mention. Centennial Families, there’s a new private school opening this fall built with your family in mind. Excalibur Classical Academy serves kindergarten through third grade and offers 100% scholarship tuition for all students. They’re a classical Christian education which blends strong academics with joyful learning through phonics, math, music, art, and meaningful stories. They’re creating a community where children are known, supported, and challenged to grow in mind and character and where parents are respected. Enrollment is open now. So don’t delay. Learn more at ExcaliburClassicalAcademy.org. That’s ExcaliburClassicalAcademy.org. And we are coming in on the weekends, which that means that tomorrow is Calzone Day at Little Richie’s in Parker and Golden. And Little Richie’s is your local neighborhood spot where you can get authentic New York-style pizza and pasta. They’ve been serving Parker and Golden for over 20 years. And if you’ve never tried Little Richie’s Calzones, Saturday’s the day to do that because you buy one calzone You get the second Calzone half off. And we are talking with LaKindra Tooks and just a really interesting career. And we’re talking, she is the spokesperson for Van Gogh, the immersive experience. It is at the Lighthouse Art Space in Denver, 3900 Elati, which that is basically I-25 and 38th. And it’s right over if you, that high rise that’s there, that’s, I think that that’s now dorms for, uh, one of the colleges, this is attached to that. And so it’s very central. So Lekindra Tooks, I’m so intrigued about your journey from a little town in Georgia to L.A. Tell us about that. Okay. Maybe we lost her. Okay. So I’ll give you some more details on this. And then while Joe is getting LaKendra on, she might have thought that we were just jumping off. I should have made sure that she knew that she had another segment. So let me mention Mint Financial Strategies. And that is your financial freedom is shaped by more than numbers. It’s shaped by planning for the realities of your life. At Mint Financial Strategies, Jody Henze and her team help you assess your current reality while planning for your future. Additionally, Mint Financial Strategies helps you navigate through your emotions regarding the economy, your career, and the market while encouraging you to evaluate success. family dynamics that could influence your financial well-being. These insights help Mint Financial Strategies to design a plan that fits your life. So take that step towards financial freedom, I have, and call Mint Financial Strategies. That number is 303-285-3080 today. 303-285-3080. And then I think it’s probably very appropriate that our bill of the day is House Bill 26-1425. It’s called Applied Behavior Analysis Services. And this is sponsored by Representative Lindsay Gilchrist. and Representative Kyle Brown, both Democrats, Senator Lindsey Doherty and Senator Scott Brown, Democrats as well. CUT, our all-volunteer Colorado Union of Taxpayers, and I want to give a shout-out to these folks. That’s Steve Dorman, Greg Golianski, Russ Haas, Bill Hamill, Rob Knuth, John Nelson, Wendy Warner, Marty Nielsen, Ramey Johnson, Mary Jansen, Dave Evans, Corey Onozorg, Paula Beard and Ray Beard join us. It’s only $25 a year. But we have taken a no position on this House Bill 26-1425. It says the bill creates the Colorado Behavior and Analyst Licensing Board under DORA, which is the Department of Regulatory Affairs. It would prohibit engaging or offering the practice of applied behavior analysis unless the individual is licensed by the board. CUT unanimously opposes this bill because it would mandate reimbursement for services to Medicaid clients, would reduce the initial fees to practitioners, and would increase the size of government by up to 20 full-time employees at a time where we are having budget shortfalls. And then we also object because of the use of the safety clause. LaKindra Tooks, we lost you. How are you? How You’re back?
SPEAKER 07 :
No, sorry. I’m back.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, great. And I had set this up that, well, first of all, the location for Van Gogh, the immersive experience is at the Lighthouse Artspace here in Denver. And tickets, again, how can people buy tickets, LaKendra?
SPEAKER 07 :
Vango.com, excuse me, VangoExpo.com slash Denver, or tickets are also available on the Fever app. You know, Fever is the ticket distribution company for Exhibition Hub, who is known for putting on all these incredible immersive exhibitions. And I’m so sorry that we got cut off, Kim. I know you were asking me questions about how I went from a small town in Georgia to L.A.
SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, I’m intrigued.
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, I’m a military kid. So when I was a child, we moved around a lot. I’ve always had a big personality. I always wanted to live in California every time I saw it on TV. And so after I graduated from University of Florida, I told my dad, Daddy, I want to move to L.A. And I moved there and I did a lot of improv. I started doing improv when I was in college. Actually, at University of Florida, I studied news broadcasting, and I did lots of improv and comedy, and those are basically two things that I use the most in my career today. My first cool job in the business was writing for Saturday Night Live, which was always a dream of mine to work at Saturday Night Live. I had Gilda Radner paper dolls when I was like 10 years old. So I think maybe in some ways my mother knew that one day her daughter was going to grow up to be a ham. So, yeah, so that really opened a lot of doors for me. And fast forward to today, I have my podcast, Touch Takes, where I talk a lot about Real Housewives and I talk about myself. And I always want to, you know, inspire and empower. That’s always important to me. And I do a lot of guest hosting on SiriusXM with Jeff Lewis Live, which I love.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, that and so again, how can people get more information about you, LaKendra?
SPEAKER 07 :
Oh, follow me on socials at LaKendra Hook. L-A-K-E-N-D-R-A-T-O-O-K-E-S. And then my podcast is called The Take.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. How did you get connected? And I did see Dinos Alive, which was really a lot of fun. And I’m going to see Van Gogh this afternoon. How did you get connected to become the spokesperson for Van Gogh, the immersive experience, and also this focus on mental health?
SPEAKER 07 :
Well, they found me. I know some people that work at Exhibition Hub, and they found me because they just wanted to have somebody like me to help talk about some of the exhibitions, somebody like me who loves to talk. You and I both, Kim, we love to talk. Put a microphone in our face. We got it. We’ll take it from there. So yeah, so they asked me to just help them with doing their media, and it’s really great for me. I love to get to I love to get to work with them. And I also, it’s really easy to talk about, um, some of these exhibition, exhibition and experiences because they, they really are so good. You know, as the Van Gogh experience, I just got to see it quickly for the first time yesterday morning. And it’s like I said, it’s just so easy to talk about it because I, I love it. I’m so excited for more people to get to experience, um, the Van Gogh exhibition here in Denver. I’m really excited.
SPEAKER 10 :
And mental health, LaKindra, it breaks my heart. We have a significant homeless population here in Colorado. And I think a lot of it is because of addiction, which can lead to mental health issues or mental health issues. I do not find it compassionate to have… people that are struggling with mental health on the streets of our cities. I think there’s got to be a more compassionate way to address this. What’s your thoughts on that?
SPEAKER 07 :
I agree. I mean, I live in L.A., and L.A., it’s really bad. The homeless situation is bad, and it’s gotten exponentially worse. in the last 10 years in a way where I don’t even recognize Los Angeles anymore. I don’t know what to do with these people because it is unfortunate. They are mentally ill. And I mean, a lot of them are so far gone that they don’t necessarily want help. You know, like you could help them, but they don’t even have the wherewithal to want the help. So I hate that they’re on the street, but I think some of them maybe want to be on the street. And I don’t know. It’s just, it’s really, really hard. And it’s unfortunate because they’re likely mentally ill because of drug use, or they started using the drug due to their mental illness that they weren’t quite sure how to deal with, you know, because it’s hard to get the proper diagnosis and get on the proper meds. It’s also very expensive. So, I mean, it’s really hard. And I feel so incompassionate because in my mind, selfishly, I just want everything to be nice and clean. And it’s like, No, that’s just not the reality for some people who are struggling. And, you know, all I know to do is pray for them. And my heart goes out to them because I know it’s not their fault. You know, they probably have gone through a lot of terrible things in their lives where their only answer was to turn to drugs or turn to the streets. And, I mean, again, just to tie that in to Van Gogh, you know, would that have happened to him if he hadn’t found a better way to channel that? And that’s really a takeaway that I want more people to get from this experience. We all go through things in life. The real question is, how do you want to handle it? What are you going to do with it? You’ve gone through this turmoil. Can we harness it into something good? And unfortunately, a lot of people aren’t able to figure that out.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and Van Gogh was in an asylum, and asylums have really – kind of gone away. I know that we used to have a mental hospital here. I think we still do here in Colorado, but I just, the streets are not safe for people. I know that there has been abuses. We’ve seen those regarding asylums as well, but gosh, we… It seems like Van Gogh was in a safe spot. And in doing so, then he was able to unleash this creativity. At least that’s a dot. You know what? I’m going to know a lot more after I go through this exhibit this afternoon, LaKindra. Yeah.
SPEAKER 07 :
Absolutely. I can’t wait for you to see it, Kim. You’re really going to love it. And Kim, you have to do the VR room. I don’t know if you’re familiar with VR, the virtual reality, because I’m not. I’m not, no. I don’t play video games, and I don’t have children, so I don’t know what the kids are up to. But this VR experience room, it allows you to put on this little mask, and it really takes you kind of through Van Gogh’s life. And there are throughout the exhibition, there are little areas, there’s like a little documentary where you can have a seat and get a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of background on Vincent Van Gogh. And that’s what the VR experience is as well. You’re there and you’re kind of like, you know, going through his life story through the VR experience. It’s actually, it’s, It’s really cool.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay. So, look, LaKindra Tooks, this has been so interesting. Again, all the details for Van Gogh. And again, it’s basically I-25 and 38. The address is 3900 Elati. So, again, all the details on how people can get their tickets.
SPEAKER 07 :
VanGoghExpo.com slash Denver. Or Fever is the company that helps with ticket distribution. And Exhibition Hub is who is responsible for all these incredible immersive experiences in Denver and around the world.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, Kendra, thank you so much. And I love your story from a little town in Georgia. And I still love little towns, but that you have made it in L.A., that’s a pretty big deal. Congratulations.
SPEAKER 07 :
I’m very grateful. Thank you so much, Kim. And I mean, I applaud you, a small town girl just like me. And look at you, a big star in Denver.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, I don’t think of myself as a big star, but we’ve got a we’ve got a big voice. I guess we’ll say that.
SPEAKER 07 :
So, yes. And you know what? We’re using it to hopefully hopefully make a positive impact in the world and in our country.
SPEAKER 10 :
So. So, yeah, absolutely. Like Kendra Tooks. Thank you so much. This has been absolutely fascinating. All right. Thank you so much, Kim. Have a good rest of the day. You as well. And we get to have all these great discussions because of our sponsors. And one of those is John Bozen and Bozen Law.

SPEAKER 10 :
Yes, it is Friday, and welcome back to the Kim Monson Show. We’ve been talking about it, and it’s right around the corner. And that is the USMC Memorial Foundation’s golf tournament, which is next Thursday. And on the line with me is the president of the foundation, Paula Sarles. Paula, welcome. For having me, Kim. Good to have you. And first of all, I’ve looked at your weather committee. It looks like I think it’s doing a pretty good job. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day next Thursday. Yes.
SPEAKER 08 :
Yes, ma’am. They’re doing really good. And we’re really happy because our sign-up is about 20% ahead of last year, so that was a good increase.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 08 :
But we still have a few foursomes. I think there’s four left or so, four or five left, so I encourage people to sign up.
SPEAKER 10 :
Okay, and they can do that by going to usmcmemorialfoundation.org. And it’s a beautiful golf course, the Ridge and Castle Pines. And so it’s really, go ahead.
SPEAKER 08 :
The lunch afterwards is absolutely delicious. And we’re hoping to have our Iwo Jima friend, Al Jennings, there, who just turned 100 years old. So if he’s up to it, he’ll be there.
SPEAKER 10 :
He is pretty amazing. He is. And Paula, I met you through the work I was doing, or I am doing with America’s Veterans Stories. And at the time, Cooper’s Troopers, four Iwo Jima veterans were living. Let’s see, two passed on, correct?
SPEAKER 08 :
Well, yeah, we had, I think back then we had six or eight of them. I think we did. We only have… three living right now that are in our group, and that’s Tom Ram and Al Jennings and Jim Blaine.
SPEAKER 10 :
And I’ve interviewed all three of those because you helped arrange those. But Al Jennings was the most difficult to get to agree to do the interview. But once we did the interview, every time I see him now, he gives me a big hug. And I think he wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it was a great interview. But it took a while to get that particular interview.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right. And part of our mission is saving the story. So we really appreciate everything you do with that and try to get everybody we know to get interviewed. It’s a great service because people need to know these stories. They’re so interesting and educational. I mean, you learn so much from them.
SPEAKER 10 :
Well, and yeah, from a historical standpoint, it’s history from people that actually lived it. And that’s why the work that you’re doing at the USMC Memorial Foundation is so important as well. And that’s why this is a great opportunity to support the foundation and have a great round of golf. And so it seems like a double benefit for people. And you said you have just a few foursomes left. So again, the details, when, where, what time, all those kinds of things.
SPEAKER 08 :
Right. May 14th is coming Thursday, and our kickoff is at 8, but you can come to sign in at 7, get checked in, and then you can practice until we start at 8. And we have everybody that registers gets a card. I mean, it’s just a full thing. It’s a great tournament. And people can come out for lunch. And it’s at the Ridge at Castle Pines, which is the most beautiful golf course there is. I mean, it’s just spectacular.
SPEAKER 10 :
It is spectacular. And, again, what’s that website, Paula Sarles?
SPEAKER 08 :
USMCMemorialFoundation.org.
SPEAKER 10 :
That is USMCMemorialFoundation.org. Paula, I so appreciate what you and your team do. You’re tireless in making sure that you support our veterans and the memorial. I thank you for that. Okay, thank you. Again, that is usmcmemorialfoundation.org. And you can text me 720-605-0647. But this is a headline that I’ve been carrying over all week. This is from CBS News. And it is Supreme Court Justice Alito temporarily restored the FDA rule allowing the abortion pill… the fest per stone, to be sent by mail. And I mentioned that Molly Lamar and I were at a lunch yesterday, and there was a woman that asked a question about abortion. Abortion is such a hot topic. It’s a topic that Democrats use all the time. And the answer by this young podcaster was, I think that we can talk about this topic abortion drug by mail because this is a very dangerous drug from at least all the reports that I’ve heard of and women can get this and probably women that are have requested this they may feel very alone they’re by themselves there’s no medical professional there at all and They get this drug in the mail, they take it, and then there can be some significant complications with this. And there’s nobody there, or maybe there’s nobody there to hold their hand, to be with them if there’s something that is not right to get them to proper medical care. But this is from CBS News, and I just thought this was important because The idea that we are sending this to abort children through the mail is really cruel, and this is very dangerous for women. But this is the report. It says, Alito granted temporary relief to the maker, Danco Laboratories, and the manufacturer of a generic version of the drug, GenBioPro. His administrative stay will remain in place until 5 p.m. on May 11th. The move gives the Supreme Court more time to consider the drug company’s request to set aside the appellate court’s order while litigation proceeds. The piece goes on to say that Danko and Gin Biopro also asked the high court to take up the case and decide the legal merits. Alito set a Thursday deadline for Louisiana officials to respond to the drug makers emergency appeals. The appeals put the issue of Mephepristone’s availability before the Supreme Court for a second time. Instead of using the word anti-abortion, I’m going to say pro-life rights groups have sought to restrict. And again, the left uses the word anti-abortion. It’s really pro-life, those that are for life. These groups have sought to restrict access to the widely used abortion pill since the high court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. And they’re claiming that the FDA failed to adequately consider the drug safety and effectiveness when it was first approved in 2000 and relaxed the rules for its use over the past decade. In 2024, the high court unanimously rejected a challenge from a group of pro-life rights doctors and medical groups that targeted this availability, ruling that the plaintiffs did not have the legal right to sue the FDA. Technically, probably legally, that’s probably right. Probably really need to have somebody that had used the drug. But anyway, the bottom line here is that this is a drug that can be very dangerous for women, particularly when they’re at a very vulnerable time. They may be alone. They get this. It’s prescribed online. They get it in the mail. They might be alone. And then there can be dangerous medical complications. So we here in our society need to understand that and communicate that. And so I think that that is one of the things that we can talk about regarding this whole abortion issue. When they say that they care about women, to have a woman by herself, get something, order it online and get it in the mail, be by themselves. If there’s a medical complication, there’s nothing that is compassionate whatsoever about that. So we’ve had a big week. We’ve got another great week planned for you for next week. Our quote for the end of the show is from Teddy Roosevelt. He says, believe you can, and you’re halfway there. So today, be grateful, read great books, think good thoughts, listen to beautiful music, communicate and listen well, live honestly and authentically, strive for high ideals, and like Superman, stand for truth, justice, and the American way. My friends, you are not alone. God bless you, and God bless America.
