On this encore program, Darin and I discuss the Christian character, especially having strong confidence in God and resilience to make it in this life. I read Psalm 1 and Jeremiah 17, “Pastages which give descriptions and blessings for the people who trust in God and keep themselves pure. When you put your trust in Jesus Christ and make him the center of everything, your day will go well. And we reassure you on this program that when you speak scripture in the devil’s hearing, he can be convinced he will flee. Now let’s join the program. One thing I learned from you when I married you is that you’re a man that is bent on discovering God’s ways. You want to know what God loves. You want to know where God is leading you. You want to learn His ways. And that is so important as believers. We are accountable for certain things, Darin, as believers. We don’t just accept Jesus as our Savior and there it’s done. And now I’m ready to go to heaven. There are certain things that we need to do on this earth as Christians. And one of them is learning God’s ways. You use the word there, you say I’m bent on doing that. Are there any other words you could use? I’m serious. Let’s see, you are not driven. Sometimes. Yes, you are always excited about learning new ways of God. Is that all you can think of? You are straight. Straight. Well, you know, I believe down inside of all of us. In fact, I was talking to a wonderful Christian man last night and I said, “Have you thanked God that you’re highly motivated?” And you know, that’s a wonderful thing to have that motivation, that desire to get up and go. Now, tell you all of us are going to be knocked down at some point. And I think about a sign I saw in front of a gas station. I think it was up in Wyoming or out in Utah or someplace where there’s a lot of wind. And this sign had the gas prices on it, but it was mounted on springs. And I watched that thing, it was almost flattened to the ground and the wind had let up and bang it. It popped right back up. And it would stand up straight and the wind came from the other direction. It would, you know, it would have the same reaction. I believe that we have to have a resiliency to make it in life. And you can be knocked down, grilled, tattooed, everything else that we say that can spindle some people would say. But I believe we have to keep going back to the book. We’ll go back to the Bible and say, “Okay, how can I suck it up here? How can I get my stuff together, get up, and have some kind of identity and some kind of purpose in life?” And I pray God for that drive. And my dad used to say to me, “And most of the time this works,” but he’d say, “Now listen, if you’re on the ship, and you know the law of the sea, the captain’s going to be the last one to abandon the ship, you and the captain get off together.” In other words, you got to hang in there. You don’t just give up when some little thing comes along. You’ve got to have some drive. You’ve got to have a reason, a purpose. And I pray God that, you know, my dad, he put some things into me. I didn’t like it. And some things on me on my backside, I didn’t like it. But that desire to say nothing and make a determination. Nothing will ever get me down. And wipe me out and make me give up. And I’ve said to people when things are really going crazy, I said, “I want to tell you something. I promise you something. I will never stop dreaming. You can never take my dream.” That’s right. And some of you’ve lost your dream. Some of you, your dream has died and it needs to be resurrected. And it can be. And we’re going to be talking about that tonight. Yes. Do you talk about a Christian or a believer that is willing to, that is able? I shouldn’t say willing, because I think we all have that desire. But is able to bounce right back when something happens. Exactly. And in Psalm 1, it says, it begins with, “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the council of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners.” That means he doesn’t dissociate with them. We’ve got to be in this world. And we’re going to have acquaintances in this world that are worldly. But we don’t spend our time, all of our time with these people, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. And these people that are always dragging down other people. We can’t stand being with them. We have to clear out. But his delight, this man, this man who walks after the ways of God, his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that yields its fruit in its season. Its leaf does not wither. And whatsoever he does shall prosper. And I’ve, when we used to go to these seminars here in Denver in the 70s, he talked about palm trees and how palm trees are made to bend in the hurricane type of winds. We’re talking about basic youth contact. Yes, yes. And that’s a great seminar. Yes. And how we, as believers, need to bend with those times that come. That’s what, that’s what the wonderful man named Bill Gothard. That’s right. Then in Jeremiah 17, we read also, “Bless it is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is in the Lord, for he will be like a tree planted by the water that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes, but its leaves will be green, and it will not worry when the year of drought comes.” Isn’t that something, Darren? When this why-to-cake comes, the man who trusts in God won’t worry about it because his roots are extended deep and he’s going to be taken care of. Praise God. That’s what it means. You know, there’s two voices in the marketplace, even though I mean totally non-Christian, just purely secular. Summer’s still concerned. Summer’s saying, “Hey, it’s going to come and go and be a little hiccup in a road and we’ll keep going.” But it’s, “Hey, if you know Jesus, you’re going to be able to withstand anything there.” Really? I’m not saying that you shouldn’t just prepare. I am saying you shouldn’t go overboard. You know, I don’t believe in that. I think we’ve got to stick to God and kind of act like maybe he means what he says in the Word. Some people are acting like, you know, God knows what he’s doing. But this last week I, in fact, I met a man who has been a long time teacher, seminary type and I want to say now, you know, his Jesus, my Jesus is different. See, my Jesus is supernatural. I don’t think his Jesus is. And in fact, I talked to him, I’m sure that we have a difficult time communicating. We read out of the same Bible. We supposedly worshiped the same God. But I, I mean, I wouldn’t want to depend on his Jesus because I don’t think his Jesus could heal me. And from listening to him for a little while, I don’t think his Jesus would bless me. If I had a financial problem, I probably wouldn’t go to his Jesus because I wouldn’t get an answer there. I wouldn’t get divine supernatural help. Now, what we’re trying to tell you here is we do believe in miracles, folks. And some of you are not going to make it unless you get hooked into God’s miracle lifestyle. And it doesn’t mean you can be lazy and be a flake and you can sit down and say, “Oh, I’m not worried about anything. God’s going to rescue me. He’s going to rescue you if you know the word.” Because he only operates on his word. Now, let me say that one more time. God only operates through his word. He never operates outside of it. He won’t cut you a special deal. He’s told you in the Bible how it works. And you need to get in there and find out how it works. Because when you know his ways, he will respond to you in marvelous, miraculous ways. That’s right. I believe some of us forget that Jesus is called the Word, Darren. And why is he called the Word? And why is he called the Word? It’s important to know that he carried the Word. He was the Word from the beginning. It says in John 1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Now, I know some of these people that come to our doors and knock on our doors and want us to invite them in and talk about God. Their God isn’t the same God as my God. Why don’t you just tell who is to you? Who are you talking about? Well, when Jehovah’s Witnesses come to my door, I take my Bible. And when I find out it’s them, I go in and get my Bible. And I say, “Now you read John 1,1, and I’ll read John 1,1, and let’s see if it’s the same Bible.” If we believe in the same God, and their Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a little G God.” That’s what their Word says. I actually, let me see your verse there. And it’s a little G. If their Word is not God. Our Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” See, they believe Jesus was created just like we are, and we can attain that status that Jesus has because He was a created being. Jesus is not a created being. You know what I do when they come to the door? Yes, I know it’s you. I know it’s you. There’s usually the trainee, and there’s the one that doesn’t know who’s going to be deceived and sucked into this cult. And I usually go and excuse myself at this point. Grab them by the clothes. I mean, I grab them so they can’t get away, and I start praying for them. And you know why I do that? I pray that God will rip the veil off their eyes because these dear people need to know Jesus Christ in a salvation way. They really do. And I’m really aggressive about that. I mean, you don’t want to come on my porch and invite it because I’m liable to leap on you and start, and grab you and start praying for you not let you go. That’s right. I believe that I have prayed sufficiently, and you just say, “Oh, Darn, you wouldn’t do that. Yes, I have done that, and I will do it again.” Because these dear people are deceived. They’re wonderful people, but they’re deceived. And when I drive by that Jehovah witness hall, whatever it’s called, what it was, Kingdom Hall. I pray, “Oh, God set those dear people free of their deception.” Because this deception is taken them down. It’s not leading them to the salvation of a living Christ. That’s why that verse that you’re reading is so important. That’s when I memorized in junior high, praise God. In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. That’s right. And the Word is Jesus. And so we know that Jesus has been from the beginning. He and God and Holy Spirit have always been together. They’ve always been companions. And all things came into being by Jesus, and apart from Jesus, nothing came into being that has come into being. So he was in cooperation with Father God and with Holy Spirit from the very beginning. Then in John 114 it says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory.” That means he chooses to dwell in us, Darn. He says, “I’m going to go away.” After three years of teaching His disciples in John, He says, “I’m going to go away, but I’m going to send a helper to live inside of you.” So you can have someone to always call on, and that helper is… Jesus. Holy Spirit. That’s right. Yes. I love that Scripture right there with you that goes along with Colossians 116. That says, “All things were created by Him, for Him, and through Him.” And without Him, nothing was created. Nothing was made that was made. We’re talking about the Word here that became flesh, the incarnate one. And some of you say, “Incarnate, that Word’s always thrown me a curve.” That means God, man. He had the bloodline of God in the end of the flesh of a human. He was born of Virgin Mary, but he was born of divine sperm. Very important thing to know. Read that verse again, would you? And the Word became flesh and dwelt or tabernacled or lived among us. And we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. This Jesus walked on the earth full. I’m telling you, Darren, He was brimming over with truth and grace. And He left that grace with us. We were talking about grace last night, out on the patio, and talking about, without God’s grace, we would all be in hell. But God chose to have mercy on us in grace, even in times when we sin against Him. His grace covers those times. Oh, hallelujah, I’m so thankful for that. You know, we’ve had questions about when, basically, they’re saying, “When will the devil stop harassing me?” Well, the answer to that is never. I mean, you’re going to be picked on from now until Jesus comes back to get us. Well, one of the things that I do along with this thinking here is I go over to the book of Revelation and I say, “Worthy art thou art Lord and our God to receive glory, honor, and power, for thou didst create all things.” And because of thy will, they all existed and were created. Another way of saying this about Jesus is He is surrounding everything, and He is in the center of everything. And if you want to really get the devil a bad time, you take the Word of God and you start throwing it in His face. And let me tell you folks, you know, a lot of you don’t believe this, but He can be convinced that every time He messes with you, He’s going to hear a ton of the Word of God coming out of your heart that believes the Word, and you set your heart, and you set your faith, you set your will with your mouth. You say, “As an act of my will, I choose to be a Bible-inspired believer.” And every time the devil harasses me, I’m going to speak the Word of God. So when He gives me a bad time, He says, “Well, this is impossible. I love that scripture, Mark 1027,” that says, “With men it’s impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.” Now take that devil, and I just keep speaking Scripture. Well, Jesus persuaded Him, didn’t He? In the wilderness. I mean, He did. He persuaded the devil, and He was therefor a time, and He tempted Jesus. But He left Jesus, and what happened next, Darren? Angels came and ministered. As you stand against the devil, as you stand against the devil with the Word of God, when the, “Hey, and the devil’s going to leave.” He really is, as you stand against Him, and angels are going to come and minister to you just as they did with Jesus. And I know it only says the devil left for a season. And He’ll be back, but I’ll tell you the times that you speak the Word, He’s going to get the hint. And it’s going to be less and less and less trauma in your life, and less problems in your life. We guarantee it. We really do. The Word speaks of that. Now you’re talking about one of my favorite subjects. And if you’re going to walk in the Word, sooner or later you’re going to have some contact with angels. Now you may not be aware of it because it says, “You know, they’re all ministering servant sent out to perform service for us at Inherit Salvation.” So they are around. But I’ve just thought of this, Barba, at some of the deepest times of my life. I have a, “It angels come in human form. I could see them with my physical eyes.” I not only knew that they were there in the Spirit. I knew they were there. But I’ve had them come and bring me messages, give me direction, give me comfort. Like what you’re talking about. Absolutely. They minister to Jesus. And it says in the Bible that God is no respecter of persons. That means He didn’t love the people that lived 5,000 years ago or 4,000 or 2,000. More than He loves you and He loves me. That’s right. So now if God is fair and He sent angels all through Scripture to minister to people, give them direction, give them comfort, give them protection, why wouldn’t He still be doing that today? Because in Hebrews 13-8 it says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Well Jesus has always been. He is like the Father God. He had no beginning. He has no end. He has always been. It’s like that complete circle. And you really can’t. We can struggle to try to explain that in human terms and human ways. But I’ll tell you, He’s always been. He’s always existed. Well here the Lord God sends He’s divine supernatural servants to talk to us and to help us. I mean what more can I say? I think it’s wonderful. Well and there’s another time that angels minister to Jesus, Darren. And that was the night before He was crucified. And Jesus knew that He was to go and be crucified and die for our sins. And I know He asked Father God, “Father God, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Yet not your will but mine, not my will, but yours be done.” And a lot of people believe that because of that phrase, they have to say, “Not my will, but you’re be done concerning healing, concerning prosperity, all of these things in their lives.” Jesus was a rare example here for a moment of saying, “Father God, I would desire to not have to go through this, but I’m going to go through this because this was in the plan from the beginning.” And as like in Luke 22, He goes and He is in agony here. He is in agony so much that His sweat becomes like drops of blood falling down upon the ground. And an angel of the Lord, Darren, appears to Him at this very moment. When He goes back to His disciples, they’re all asleep. They’re exhausted, they’re asleep. It’s been a long day. He’s given them last supper, He’s washed their feet, Judas left the room in a hurry to go and be tray Him. And so His disciples have had a long day. They’re all asleep, probably like we would be. And here He’s in tears, He’s in grief, and He’s in sorrow. And who comes to minister to Him? An angel of God. An angel of God comes to comfort minister and strength in Him for this time. So we’re not looking for strength in Him. Yes. You know, I think we can also be like Daniel and the Old Testament, Barband. And we can talk about Jesus and some people would say, “Well, yeah, but He’s in a different class than we are.” Well, let’s take a man that was like us, Daniel. And go to Daniel chapter 10, verse 12. And now Daniel has been praying and he’s been fasting. And here’s what happened. And the angel appeared to him. And he said to me, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart up understanding this,” he’s talking about a mystery here. And on humbling yourself before your God, your words in this part of want you to get, your words were heard and I have come and responds to your words. I believe that if we are really sincere with God, we can cry out to God. Say, first of all, Father God, I just humble myself like Daniel did here. I humble myself. And God, if there’s any sin, if there’s anything between me and you, show me and I will repent. And your word says, “You will forgive me.” Now, but Lord, I just need, I just need extraordinary help here. I need supernatural help. I mean, I can’t figure this out with my mind. I’ve tried. Dan ought to have tried. But I need you to come. I need you to send an angel. I need you to make something here. Let me know. Let me know here that there’s deliverance possible. I need answers. I need comfort. I need strength. Like Jesus in the garden. I need strength. I need to be strengthened. I’m out of strength. I can hardly get enough breath here to pray this prayer. Because sometimes we are so involved with the situation. I mean, so close to the situation. We can’t see in the spirit what God may be wanting to do or how He may be wanting to move. And we can almost separate ourselves from that situation when an angel comes to strengthen it, to comfort and to speak wonderful words of love to us. You know, and I’ve had one angel come many times to me and I know who he is because of the way he’s dressed. And, you know, I almost share this with concern that some people think, “Yeah, I knew you were not so.” You know, well, that’s okay. I’ve decided to let it all hang out. I’m not going to worry about what you think of me. It’s none of my business. One guy said, “It’s none of my business what you think of me.” Well, I’m not going to hopefully be that abrasive here, but this angel would come and there would be communication, there would be direction, there would be instruction, there would be strengthening. And when I go back to some of the toughest decisions of my life that I’ve made, the angel has been there. In fact, one came to me one time and totally uninvited. He looked like a businessman in his 50s. All of a sudden he was there giving me instruction. And he had a cup of coffee and I had a cup of coffee all of a sudden he gave me this direction and he was gone. Yes. And I turned around and there was no way he could escape my vision. It was outside. But in the meantime, he had spoken to me things that nobody knew except me. Nobody knew. That’s right. We can be entertaining angels on a way. I know you say. So, I mentioned that and some of you are saying, “Wow, I’d like to know more about this.” Well, if you’re sincere, this was not intended to build up to this, to tell you, but we do have a four tape series called Angels Among Us. In the Old Testament, these angels co-mingled. In other words, they walked around among the people and the people saw them, people talked to them and so on. You know, that’s still happening today, but this four tape series is called Angels Among Us. If you wanted this $24. And we took angel stories from the Old Testament. We shared some angel stories of our own all the way into the New Testament. It might be a real blessing to you. I challenge you to get it. The anointing is there. Now, why can’t we know about the Spirit World, Barbara? Because that’s what we’re talking about here. That’s right. Even in Hebrews 13, verse 2, I was inferring to this verse, “But do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.” And some of you say, “Do you really believe in that? Do you really believe they come down and they minister to us here on earth? Do you believe these heavenly beings?” And listen, if you don’t believe that, you probably won’t see an angel until you begin getting into the Word or get this tape series. It’s one, it’s not because Darren and Barbara did it because the Word of God were showing you in the Word that angels were not only around in the Old Testament with like people like Daniel and Elijah and them. But they are around here and they are going to be around when revelation, the book of Revelation is manifested in its total fullness. And angels are here for us. They’re not here for God or Jesus. They’re here to minister to God’s people. That’s why they’re here. And if you don’t believe that, then you’re not going to see angels. We encourage you to get into the Word to read about them. Then as you begin to trust God that, “Yes, I believe you do have ministering servants like angels around.” Lord, show me these. Then that faith is going to grow up and you’re going to see them. I’ve seen angels because I’ve believed you, Darren. And I didn’t see angels before I met you. Are you saying I’m an angel? Well, we’re hiding. No, but I challenge you to open your eyes. That’s right. That’s right. That’s God to open your eyes and to see angels. I have seen angels. Praise God. Jill, how you doing? Well, I’m sitting home. I’ve been having a stress test for a heart attack and I just need you and Darren. Darren and Barbara’s prayers. Well, we can do that. Has he had a heart attack? They’re treating it like one until they know all of the results. They won’t know. When did he go in? He’s having a test right now. Okay, but when was he first attacked? Yes, the afternoon. Okay. How old your husband? 63. 63? Yeah. Okay. Well, it’s pray for him. Do you believe in miracles? Oh, yes, I do. I’ve had him myself. Well, you’re going to have another one. Have you come to our meeting, Jill? Yes, I am. Okay. Then I know who you are. All right. Okay. Was your husband come? Oh, yes. Her husband is very deep in the room. Okay. Thank you, Jesus. Well, God, I just thank you that you you never run out of miracles. I ask right now that you would guide the doctors and there would be an accurate diagnosis of what’s going on. But Father God, the accurate diagnosis is how the word is that you do heal, that you come against stress, you come against trauma. Father God, I come against trauma, I come against stress, I come against the spirit of death, the spirit of fear. Yes. Father God, we bind that package. This spirit of infirmity that’s come to take this man down. Lord, he has many years left. Yes. Many years. So spirit of death, your bound, your bound and you will not operate against this man. Now Lord, in the place of all this stuff that we’ve ripped away from him and away from Jill. Lord, we bless their home. We bless their marriage. We bless them with life. We bless them with the miraculous touch of Jesus. We want to thank you. Yes. Peace and joy and confidence. Amen. Amen. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. God bless you guys. Praise the Lord. God bless you. Amen. Amen. You know, if something I can see the hand of Jesus on his chest right over his heart. So you will allow me to do that. That’s a promise from that’s a word of knowledge from the Lord. That’s right. And if you need to take some communion, you know, while you’re, is he with you or is he? No, I’m a home. Then you take some communion and that’ll that’ll cause that’ll focus your thoughts into the spiritual realm. Jill, I commend you. I hear real confidence in your voice. Oh, I trust the Lord. That’s why people, some of the people from churches, why aren’t you with the I. I’m, I’m trusting God. But we need prayers from our brothers and sisters. That’s right. That’s right. Well, God bless you. Thank you. Bye. Bye. Well, you know, God can do that. But I’ll tell you folks, you need to walk close to him. So when these things come, you know how to pray and the phone’s not off the hook. You know, you can get through to God through through Jesus and Holy Spirit. And that when we do that, he responds to us. That’s what it’s set up in the word. We don’t know when things are going to come crashing in on us. Things that are unexpected. But when the sweat starts rolling down our back or you know, we get clammy hands. We know it’s time now to focus on God and to trust in him.
