In this episode of Classic Christianity Radio, Bob George delivers a powerful message centered on the unshakable love of God and what it means to live free from fear and condemnation.
Bob walks through foundational truths from Scripture, emphasizing that God keeps no record of wrongs and that His love is not conditional. He challenges listeners to examine their own hearts—asking whether they are truly living in love, or still operating out of fear, guilt, and performance-based thinking.
A central theme of the teaching is this: nothing can separate a believer from the love of God. Not failure, not hardship, not

He says, I don’t get easily angered. Here’s another one. He keeps no records of wrongs. God keeps no records of your wrongs. God does not delight in evil. He always rejoices in truth. He always protects you, trusts you, hopes the best for you, perseveres, and love never fails. Now, guys, think about this. If God is saying to you and me back in that passage that it is my desire that you be controlled by the love of God, To be filled with the knowledge of the height, depth, breadth, and width of the love of God and to know this love that surpasses knowledge so that you could be filled to the measure with the fullness of God. Then how does he want us to be filled with? Well, instead of saying this is God, say I am always. And we’ll see how we’re doing. I am always patient. Now, I don’t want you to sit up here and listen to what I am always. You put it, you are always. You internalize this. I am always patient. I’m always kind. I’m never envious. I love it when my friend gets a promotion and I don’t. I just love it. I’m never boastful. I wouldn’t boast about myself. My life depended on it. It’s not proud. I’m never proud. I’m never rude to people. Do you know rudeness is a big thing, guys? You know how rude we can be to each other? You know, I go into stores sometimes and some of these clerks, in Jesus’ name, I’d like to hit them upside the head. They’re so rude. People are rude to each other. And we’re rude to them as well. It’s never self-seeking. I’m never self-seeking. I’m never easily angered. It takes a lot to get me mad, especially on the freeway. I never keep records of wrongs. I wouldn’t bring up something that Amy did a year ago or ten years ago if my life depended on it. How about you? Guys, we got filing cabinets full. And we justify bringing it up. That’s why people cannot get free of guilt. Somebody’s always there bringing up your guilt. Have you ever noticed that? God didn’t. Just we are. And we say how loving we are. Do you know the most loving thing you can do for a person is quit bringing up their mistakes? Am I right or wrong, guys? But we love to bring up your mistakes. Why? It makes us feel better because we didn’t do what you did. It makes me feel holier. Guys, this is all God’s looking for. If you think that you’re doing well in the sight of God and you’re paying no attention to this, we’re just kidding ourselves in our Christian life. Because God didn’t keep in track of your attendance record at people to people. And he didn’t keep in for sure records of your tithing. What he’s looking for is how we’re doing in the love department. And so he’s saying to us that we don’t delight in evil. We’re not for evil. We’re always trusting people. Is your first inclination towards somebody is to trust them or to accuse them? Take a look at that in your own heart, and it’s going to show you exactly where you’re walking. Is it to accuse or is it to think the best? Which is it? God says that the kind of love I’m looking for is the love that comes out of the heart that’s thinking the best before you’re thinking the worst. In other words, you’re innocent until proven guilty, which probably is where that came from. Instead of you’re guilty until you’re proven innocent, which is not God’s way of dealing with things. So we have to look at our hearts, don’t we? Are we always looking the best for people, hoping the best for people, always trusting, always hoping the best? I’m hoping that this is going to get better. I’m going to persevere with people. A lot of times we just write them off. But I’ll persevere. Now again, you have situations where people sitting there and they’re looking at marriages that have gone amok. There are some things that God recognizes in our human experience that we are sometimes incapable of dealing with on a spiritual basis. It talks about things like adultery. There are some people that cannot handle that with a mate. And as a result of that, God has said, if that’s the case, you can divorce. Does he want divorce? No, but he didn’t want sin either, did he? But when sin entered in the world, all these things happen. There are some things that you just plain can’t handle. If you can’t, God knows that and you know it. And so we have to understand the truth of that. And we have to understand the fact that we can make mistakes. But those mistakes have been put behind the back of God never to see them again. Do we understand that? God’s love never fails. Where there are prophecies, they’ll cease. Where there are tongues, they will be stilled. These are not important things. Where there’s knowledge, it will pass away. But God’s love remains forever. And that’s what God is looking for us above all things. In fact, Paul said the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. That’s all that matters. And guys, what we have done in Christianity is we’ve looked at this thing and said, I cannot do that. And so we come up with all kinds of things. Well, a loving Christian would give. I give, therefore I’m loving. A loving Christian would share Jesus. I share Jesus, therefore I’m loving. A loving person would go to church. I go to church, therefore I’m loving. And we’ve substituted all that kind of stuff for what it’s saying there. And the issue is that that is not the definition of what love is. We just heard the definition of love. Kindness, patience, not keeping records of wrongs, not accusing people. All of those things are all what love is about. And we have to understand the truth of that. And if I’m not doing those things, I can’t sit back and rationalize it. I have to say that is dead wrong from God’s vantage point. If I’m going to listen to God. So, what are we talking about here then? We’re talking about a motivation that is required for us to desire to do God’s will. Because in essence, what we really desire is to feed the flesh. We desire… to rationalize our actions and our attitudes do we not we will rationalize them all over the place i’m doing what i’m doing because you did what you did god says what they did i’m that i’m dealing with them on i’m dealing with them i’m now dealing with you and your reactions again we got actions and reactions we look at his actions and say oh you’re the reason i reacted he said no no no circumstances don’t cause your nature they just reveal your nature That’s pretty sickening, isn’t it? My wife cannot put mad in me. She can just draw it out of me. Now, we don’t like that. We don’t like that at all. You made, remember what we say, you made me mad. He said, no, no, you didn’t make me mad. You just drew mad out of me. If it didn’t have mad in me, you couldn’t get it out of me. How did Jesus respond at the cross? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness. Why? That’s all that was in him. You can’t stir up beans in a pot unless there’s beans in a pot. If it didn’t have anger in you, you couldn’t get it out of you. And so we look at circumstances cause me to react. He said, no, it just reveals where you are. That’s all just reveals where you are. Now, is it important for me, for God to reveal where I am, if where I am in where he wants me to be? Is that important? Should we resist that? Should we be shocked? Do you think God’s shocked at anything you do? Ooh, did you see what Bobby just did? No, he isn’t shocked. He isn’t shocked at all. He knows us. And so we shouldn’t be shocked when yucky stuff comes out of us. Why? Because yucky stuff is still in you. I don’t care how sweet you look on the outside. You’re full of yuck. And if you don’t believe that, I’ll reveal it for you. Is that unusual? No, it’s not unusual. It’s reality, isn’t it? We got it in us. And so what does he want us to do? We shouldn’t be saddened by these things. We should be glad that it’s being revealed if my desire is to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus. Because that’s going to help me to do that. And one of our board members, ex-board members, George Reaver, he’s in his probably 90s by now, but he’s one of the dearest brothers I’ve ever known. But he said to me one day, he said, you know, Bob, God gave me the absolute perfect wife for me. I mean, the absolute perfect wife. And I said, George, that’s a nice thing to say. Why’d you say that? He said, well, very simply, because everything God wants to reveal about my nature, she shows it to me. She reveals it. It’s perfect for me. She reveals his nature. So we have a conflict. The mind of the sinful man is death. The mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. The sinful mind is hostile to God. It doesn’t submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. And therefore, don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. And that’s the key, is don’t be foolish. Let’s understand what the will of the Lord is. But there’s a conflict between the flesh and the Spirit. This supernatural ability is required for us to do God’s will. It says that it is God who is at work within us to will and to act according to His good purpose. So we’re told that God is working in you and me to lead us to His good purpose. That job isn’t over, is it? We would like for it to be over, but if you really want it to be over, pray for death. Because that’s when it will be over. Not until… You and I will have this struggle between the flesh and the spirit until the day we die. We right or wrong? You’re going to be doing the things you don’t want to do and not doing the things that you want to do until the day you die. The beauty of it is that the more we renew our mind on truth and the more that we yield ourselves to the spirit of God that lives in us, the less the desires of the flesh are going to erupt their ugly heads. but you’re always gonna have them.

SPEAKER 02 :
And so Paul says, I can do everything through Christ that gives me strength. And then another place he says, I rejoice in my weakness. Why does he rejoice in his weakness? Because it shows him his need for Jesus. And when I’m weak, he is strong. What is God’s will for you and for your life? We’re told that it’s God’s will for every believer to be filled with the fullness of God’s love. We just talked about this passage. He’s praying. We say, I’d like to know what God’s will is for me. He’s just told us. It’s God’s will that you be rooted and established in this love that he’s talking about. And to be controlled by love. So that you can be filled to the measure with the fullness of God. People walking around, what’s God’s will for my life? This is God’s will for you. To be controlled by love. Let’s go on. To be filled means to be controlled by. It says to be controlled by the knowledge of the love of Christ. We’re told in 2 Corinthians 5.14 that Christ’s love compels us. Because we’re convinced that one died for all and therefore all died. So what is it that controlled the love of the Apostle Paul? The love of God. What controlled Jesus? The love of God. What is to control you and me? The love of God. Now how can we therefore be controlled by the love of God? What does it mean to be controlled by the love of God? Well, control is a result of your dependency upon who you’re depending upon to control you. As I said last week, if I’m depending upon the popularity of the in crowd, whoever named them the in crowd, if I’m depending upon them for my meaning and purpose to life, that in crowd will control me whether I want them to or not. Why? Because I’m depending on them to do so. So my dependency brings about the control of a substance or people. Why do they call it drug dependency, alcohol dependency? Because you’re depending upon it for everything you have in life. And your dependency upon it is what’s bringing the control of it on your life. Otherwise, everybody would be alcoholics. Everybody drinks. Well, not everybody. Everybody. But I’m saying if you’re a drinker, some are alcoholics and some aren’t. They say it’s a disease. No, it isn’t. It’s a control factor. You’re depending upon that alcohol to soften your pain. You’re depending upon it to give you boldness. You’re depending on that for something. And that’s why you’re drawn to it is because you’re depending on it to do something for you that somebody else doesn’t depend on it. So it means to live in total dependency upon who God wants us to depend upon. You and I were born into this world to be dependent people, not independent. No one’s independent. God alone. We’re dependent. And he created you to be dependent, not independent. We think if we get in our own business, I’ll be independent. Nothing could be farther from the truth, could it? And so he says, I created you to be dependent upon me. And I want you to live in dependency upon that. The illustration that he gave us is the best illustration I know of in the Bible, the vine and branch. Where he said, I’m the vine and you’re the branch. And if a man depends or lives in me and I in him, he will bear my fruit, but he cannot produce my fruit. Do we all know that? Are you a branch or are you a vine? We’re branches. What did he say? We cannot produce fruit. Now, what does, again, the Christian world say when you come to Jesus? Here’s your tithing envelopes. Go seek them for God. Go do something big for Jesus. And out we go. Where do I go do something big for Jesus? Well, you go over here, you go over here. And so we become doo-doo Christians. Do this, do this, do this, do this, do this, do this. Never grow in your knowledge of God’s love. Just go do. And we have this idea, oh, oh, if I could just get… if I could just get this well-known athlete saved, ooh, what he could do for Jesus. Or if the president could just be a Christian, ooh, what he could do for the United States. And if we could get all of our politicians, if we could get the whole Congress and the whole Senate, and all of them were born-again Christians, ooh, what that would be. I said, man, you haven’t been to a deacon meeting. God doesn’t need our abilities, just our availability. We need to get rid of this idea. If I could just get this highfalutin guy, ooh, what he would do. Listen, God doesn’t need highfalutin guys to get out the gospel. He said he would choose the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. So somebody told me, as my early Christian experience, Bob, I think you’re going to have a great ministry to the intellectual community. I said, really? How come you say that? Because he said the Bible says he’d take the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. I said, thank you, Howard, for that. I appreciate that. I’m a vine. He’s the vine. I’m a branch. I can’t produce fruit. All I can do is bear it. But when we’re abiding, we’ll come to a point, like the Apostle Paul, where he’s able to say, who can separate me from the love of God? How many of you have ever been through trouble? Did it separate you from God? If it did, you haven’t come to the point where you have come to understand the height and depth and breadth and width of the love of God. Paul says, no, trouble didn’t do it. Had a lot of trouble. It didn’t separate me from God. Hardship. You ever had hardship? He said, that didn’t separate me. Persecution. You ever had persecution? Yeah, that didn’t separate me. Famine. I have never been through a famine. Been through all the rest of those things. Nakedness. Haven’t been in that out in public. Danger. Danger. danger the sword there’s few of those now i haven’t been through them but the issue is if you went through them would it separate you from the love of god says no no in all these things he says we are more than conquerors through him who loved us for i’m convinced of something guys and there’s the word do you know that most people have difficulty in ever coming to a point in their life where they are convinced of something in other words i’ve got a conviction about something you know there’s some people never have convictions about anything you can ask them any question they don’t have any particular conviction never formed a conviction about anything well if you haven’t start with one i’m convinced of something nothing can separate me from the love of god I’m convinced that neither death, death isn’t going to separate me from God. It’s going to let me go into his presence. Death, life can’t. Angels, demons, neither the present nor the future or any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Guys, do you understand the meaning of that? Nothing can separate you from the love of God. It’s phenomenal, isn’t it? nothing can separate you from the love of God. Get separated from people, get separated from organizations, but nothing can separate you from the love of God. And guys, I want to tell you something. If God be for you, who can be against you? And you can get people who want to beat you to death and don’t like you and what you have to come back with. If God’s for me, who can be against me? Because in this world, we’re very conditional. We love God. To put people down, don’t we? If God’s for us, who can be against us? We’re in a partnership with Jesus. He is in me, I am in him. All that belongs to Christ belongs to you and to me. To live in total dependency that he is causing all things to work together for your good. Do you believe that? Do you believe that whatever you are going through or whatever you’ve gone through, that God will cause it to work together for your good? To those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Do you believe that? Someone said something I think very wise that a person’s rejection many times is God’s protection. Do we understand that? Many times a rejection that you get over here is only God’s way of protecting you from that person or whatever it is that is rejecting you. He says, God will take all things. I don’t care what it is. I don’t care what’s happened to you. You can have the worst things in the world happen to you. And some of us have had it. And God says, I’ll work it together for good if you let me. If you’ll just trust me, I’ll work it together for your good. He wants us to live in that kind of dependency. God, I’m going through some tough things, but I know one thing. You’ll cause it to work together for my good. Do you believe that? That’s a promise of God. Therefore, there’s no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Why? Because the law of the spirit of life has set me free from the law of death. You’re free from the bondage of fear. Guys, do you know that everything in this world has fear to it? We have some little turtle doves that our little patio outside of our window has become a maternity ward for turtle doves. And it seems like every two months or whatever it is, there’s a new maternity ward taking place. And I walk by that window sometimes. It’s a window, and I can look right out where it is. And that dumb thing doesn’t know that I’m not going to hurt it. So he flies away. And I say to it every time, hey, stupid, come on back. I’m not going to hurt you. Doesn’t hear me. Animals. Fearful. Snakes are fearful. Bears are… It doesn’t make care who they are. Fear isn’t all of us. Where did it come from? Satan. The day that Satan came to this earth, he has paralyzed God’s creation with fear. We fear we’re not going to be successful. We fear our kids aren’t going to be successful. We fear, we fear, fear, fear. All the animal. Do you realize it says that even all creation moans for its redemption? When Adam fell, the whole nature fell and created this spirit of fear. Do you know what the only solution to fear is? Love of God. Those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God. You didn’t receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship so that by him you cry out, Abba, Father. There is no fear in love. The only solution to fear is love. The love of God is the only solution to curing fear in your life. Perfect love drives out all fear. What does fear drive out? Perfect love. That is Satan’s tool. If I can get you fearful, I’ll get you away from the perfect love of God. And if I get you away from the perfect love of God, I’ll keep you fearful for the rest of my life. Perfect love drives out all fear because fear has to do with punishment. That’s why, folks, there is no punishment for you and me who are in Christ Jesus. Do we understand that? That God is not punishing you. We have people when bad things happen, well, I wonder what God’s doing to punish them. He isn’t punishing them. God’s punishment for sin was death. It is not a paddling. It’s not this, it’s not that, it’s death. And we have been freed from that so that we can walk in perfect love because fear is the opposite of perfect love and fear has to do with punishment and the one who fears cannot be made perfect in love. And it’s not that we loved, it’s that he loved us first. God didn’t give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. We’re to live in dependency that Christ maintains, totally maintains your relationship with himself. Being confident of this, that he who began the good work in you will carry it out to the completion until the day of Christ Jesus. He said, that’s why I’m suffering as I am. I’m not ashamed. I know whom I believed and I’m convinced that he is able to guard what I’ve entrusted to him for that day. It’s an attitude of dependency. We live in dependency on it totally, that he is totally responsible for completing the work that he began in us. It’s God who works in you to will and to act according to his good pleasure. That is his job, is to work it out. You don’t need to sin. There’s no temptation that has seized man except is common to man. But if you do, we have one, the advocate, Jesus Christ, the righteous one, who took away our sins from the eyes of God. If you sin, what do you do? My children, I write this to you so that you don’t sin, but if anyone does, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense, Jesus Christ, the righteous one. He’s the atoning sacrifice. That’s a bad translation in NIV. He’s the one who took away our sins, not atoned for sins, but took them away. And not only ours, but the sins of the whole world. Your sins have been taken away from the eyes of God. If we walk in the light as Jesus is in the light, we have fellowship with Jesus. And the blood of Jesus, his son, continually keeps on cleansing you of every sin imaginable. So, folks, all of these things are a part of living in dependency and realizing that God loves you. And he wants his best for you. Our attitude should never be, I want my prayers answered. Your attitude should always be, I want God’s will for my life. Don’t be anxious. Anxious is over in God’s country. But instead, in all things, with prayer and supplication and thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God that passes all understanding will quieten your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.
