This special encore episode of Call to Freedom revisits a powerful teaching from 2015, as Barbara Carmack and Darren explore the spiritual significance of communion and living clean in a challenging world.
The conversation centers on the idea that believers don’t have to carry the weight of what they encounter in everyday life. Whether it’s exposure to negativity, stress, or difficult circumstances, listeners are encouraged to actively “cleanse” their minds and hearts—turning to the power of Christ through prayer and communion.
Real-life testimonies highlight how practicing faith consistently can lead to tangible results, including healing and breakthrough. From physical recovery to

on this encore show darren and i talk about the privilege of taking communion that brings healing and restoration to your body and soul when you surround yourself by defilement you can say father god i cover my spirit soul and body with the blood of jesus and separate myself from all the worldly filth and sin on a daily basis you can know that you’re free from the world’s entanglements and lust hebrews 4 1 and 2 tells us to fear lest while a promise remains of entering his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it. For even though they had the good news preached to them, the word they heard did not profit them because it was not united by faith in those who heard. Now let’s join the program.
SPEAKER 06 :

You can call in, and the lines are clear, and we’ll be glad to take your phone call and pray for you and share in the joy if you have a wonderful praise report. Barb, what’s going on for you?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I wasn’t here Thursday and Friday, and I heard you had a really good interview anyway, but I’ll tell you what, I was in jury. I’ve never done that in my life, and I just got caught. I usually have an excuse, but they were low on jurors.
SPEAKER 06 :
What was the subject on your jury duty?
SPEAKER 05 :
It was an assault and battery charge, domestic violence. and it was very graphic, and it was in the bedroom, and so it was very interesting.
SPEAKER 06 :
Basically, it was an old-fashioned husband-wife argument.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, it was.
SPEAKER 06 :
Do you want to give us any details?
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I want to say how much I am blessed, and I know the sea silver commercial was right before our program, how much I am blessed by taking sea silver. We were in the courthouse for 11 1⁄2 hours on Thursday, and, Darren, I was not tired. My head was full of… You know, when you’re in the world, you have to separate so many things and sift through so many things in the world. But I’ll tell you what, my body was not tired, and I’m so grateful for these natural supplements that help us. But then we didn’t reach a verdict on Thursday night at 7 o’clock, so we had to come back on Friday morning, and they served Krispy Kreme donuts.
SPEAKER 06 :
So disappointed in the city and county of Arapahoe and Aurora, Colorado. That’s just not right.
SPEAKER 05 :
Anyway, but we did reach a verdict, and we found the defendant not guilty.
SPEAKER 06 :
Not guilty?
SPEAKER 05 :
Not guilty, yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, from what little you’ve told me, it was a pretty X-rated day for you, and I say, did you cleanse yourself with the blood of Jesus?
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, yes, I did. I’ve done everything that we teach the listeners, and even this morning after the weekend, I We found ourselves kind of sluggish in the spirit, and we took communion before we came to the studio. I really recommend those things, and I know some of you. A dear friend just called us last night, called me. You were gone, of course. What do you mean, of course? Well, you’re gone a lot. Well, Barbara, I’m going to go pray. So I took this phone call, and she said that you had recommend communion.
SPEAKER 06 :
You sound like we don’t spend the weekends together.
SPEAKER 05 :
We do, we do. 24-7. That’s why sometimes, Barbara, I just need to go away and pray.
SPEAKER 06 :
Our engineer’s over there laughing. He’s flat on his back.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, that’s because he’s got a cup of chicory. You brought him chicory. Chicory coffee. Yeah, he says, I have to now comb.
SPEAKER 06 :
Let’s straighten him right up.
SPEAKER 05 :
I have to comb my tongue after that cup of chicory. But a friend called last night and said, Darren, when we met you for dinner, Darren recommended, because she had had some reports from the doctor, serious reports on her throat, and you said, I want you to take communion.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, it was polyps in her throat.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, all over her throat, yes. And I want you to take communion, and I want you to drink the blood of Jesus, that communion cup, seven times.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hold on just a minute. Let’s back up. It wasn’t Darren’s idea. It was God’s idea.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, that’s true.
SPEAKER 06 :
We were sitting there talking to them and she was saying, what can I do? And the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, tell her to take communion every day for a week.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, and then seven times when you take communion individually, then seven times you drink that cup. And she got her test back. And guess what? There was no sign. Praise the Lord. And so she was rejoicing and I was rejoicing. We’ve gotten several reports from the listeners that, you know, this really works. And that’s a joy for us to know that you are actually practicing this. In Hebrews it says, practice, practice, practice. And so as we practice with faith added to that, Darren, it works. It really, truly does.
SPEAKER 06 :
But, you know, we kind of skipped over this. Going back to your jury trial thing where you were on the jury, it was very graphic and it was bedroom scenes and on and on. But, you know, folks, I’ll tell you, when we get thrown into something, and, of course, that’s an unusual situation where you have to go to a jury trial on something like this. But when you run into something in the world today where you come out feeling icky and slimy and all that kind of stuff, here’s what you do. I’m going to tell you how to do this so you don’t have to just wallow in the junk and feel defiled and everything. And, basically, you are defiled. I have to tell you that. You’ve got those defiled thoughts in your mind and, you know, in this case, you were because you were a juror. You know, you were forced to think through and discuss these things. But, you know, maybe what you saw was a video or maybe you heard somebody talk and they were very perverse and they were very crass. Here’s what you do. You say, Father God, and I take my hand, my right hand since I’m right-handed. And I say, Father God, I cover my spirit and I put it on my midsection and I cover my my mind and put it on my forehead. And then I put my hand on top of my head and I say, Father God, by the power of Jesus blood, I am cleansing myself specifically of all that junk. I want to cut it off. I don’t want to think about it. I want to wake up in the night dreaming about it or thinking about it. I don’t want it to affect me. I want to be cleansed of the junk that has come against my life. Now, I want to tell you, folks, that really works. We have a dear friend here in Denver that works in a unit where, matter of fact, he calls himself the gas man. But he’s in and out of this hospital where there’s a lot of blood, a lot of fluids, a lot of defilement, a lot of death. And he covers himself with the blood of Jesus just exactly like I described. He covers his midsection, his forehead, and the top of his head. Before he goes to work, he works 12-hour shifts. It’s just, well, it’s just horrible. When he gets off work and comes outside the hospital, he does the same thing. He covers his spirit, mind, and body with the blood of Jesus and cleanses himself. So you can do it for protection and you can do it for cleansing. You say, well, boy, that sounds weird. Well, let me tell you, Jesus left us his blood and his communion, that wonderful ceremony, so that we could be cleansed of the defilement of the world. And there’s so much perversion out there, Barbara. It’s all over. You don’t have to be on jury duty to have that slap you right in the face.
SPEAKER 07 :
That’s right. That’s absolutely true.
SPEAKER 06 :
In fact, we have a little newspaper right here in front of us in the studio.
SPEAKER 05 :
The Denver Daily News.
SPEAKER 06 :
Was that Friday or Thursday or Friday of last week? And this little paper, it’s a freebie that comes out every day.
SPEAKER 05 :
And usually it’s very good. It’s just really, really very informative. I’d say it’s fair.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s just fair newspaper. Anyway.
SPEAKER 05 :
For free, yes. It’s free, but it’s fair.
SPEAKER 06 :
But anyway, it’s usually in black and white. But on this day last week, they had the Dipsy. Dipsy Chicks. Is it Dipsy Chicks?
SPEAKER 05 :
Dipsy Chicks. Dipsy, not Dipsy anymore.
SPEAKER 06 :
Dipsy Chicks picture. And they were all in a nude on the front page.
SPEAKER 05 :
In color.
SPEAKER 06 :
In color. And… Then we read the newspaper today. They said they only got one comment on that. But, see, this stuff is thrown at us. Now, the respondent was saying, why do you do this? After all, this is out open on all the newsstands. And it was really pornographic, actually. Let’s call it like it was.
SPEAKER 05 :
And on a specific day, he reported that this was the take your child to work day where they would see this more than if they are in school all day. So what a day to do it. And he said, you know, clean up your act, which I think is a very good idea.
SPEAKER 06 :
The people who were complaining to the newspaper had those comments. But folks were telling you that you can live clean in a dirty world. But you have to be proactive. You have to do something. You have to put a stop on those things. Or, you know, your mind’s drifting back to that. And what if you’re in church and you’re sitting there thinking, oh, my goodness, I remember that picture of the Dixie Chicks. Now, is that going to help you meditate on the sermon and material presented? No. And Satan uses those things to get us off the track, to get us to take a detour here in the slime mentally. Mm-hmm. And then, of course, you’re going to bring along a spirit of lust. And then you’re meditating on things you shouldn’t be meditating on. We’re telling you how to live clean and free of that. And a lot of ministries won’t just get down and just say, here’s the way it is, folks. And they pretend that we’re all living in a wonderful, you know, drop the hanky world. You know, it’s like a Bible school. You know, when we were kids, I mean, three or four-year-olds, they played silly little games like drop the hanky. Folks, we’re not there anymore. So we have to face it and say, what are we going to do? Can we do? Yeah, we must do something there so that we live a cleansed life, at least in our minds.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s right. The writers of Hebrew, Darren, in Hebrews 4, 1 and 2 said, let us therefore get serious. I’m putting it in my words. Let us get serious. Lest while a promise remains of entering his rest, God’s rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it. For indeed, we have had good news preached to us just as they also, but the word they heard did not profit them because it was not united by faith in those that heard. And I believe this faith thing involves like our friend who took your advice and took communion for six days and then drank of the cup. And I believe these things are very serious and they should be taken advisedly. I really, I really… I sense when I do this, Darren, that it blesses me. Not only spiritually revives me, but revives my physical being as well. And that’s tremendous in this day and age.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, if we really believe that when we take communion that the power of Jesus is in his blood. And if you think about peristalsis, which really means that this is going to go into your system, go to all parts of your body. Now, I take that on a spiritual plane. Now, I personally don’t care whether your tradition is wine or your tradition is Welch’s grape juice or some other brand of grape juice. I don’t care. But when we pray over this, I believe that there’s a spiritual transaction that takes place over the communion elements. Quite often we do this on the air, and we have people that can’t get out, and they take communion with us, and it’s a blessed time for us here and for our listeners that participate. But I believe that if we really understand the power that’s in the blood of Jesus, that’s the power of eternal life. That is a power greater than sickness. It’s a power greater than financial problems. So when you have a problem, why don’t you take communion at your house? There’s nothing in the Word that says you can’t do it. Oh, say, well, I’m just a lay person. I’ve never been to Bible school, seminary. I’m not a pastor. I’m not a priest. Now, wait a minute. If you read the book of Acts, these people weren’t either. They were… ordinary quote-unquote lay people going from house to house taking communion it said they break bread well they were taking communion and if you read the book of acts you can’t do anything else read the first three four five six chapters of book of acts and you’ll see awesome miracles there through these extraordinary they became extraordinary people because i believe they were entertaining and taking in the power of the blood of the resurrection
SPEAKER 05 :
I believe that’s one reason why Paul could withstand such a trial of his life. This man was beaten and bruised and stoned and went through so many things. And as we’re reading through the book of Philippians now, we realize Paul is writing this book possibly with a scribe. conveying his thoughts to a scribe. He is standing in a dungeon in stocks in Philippi. And Darren, he’s writing this beautiful book, which I call Book of Joy. I know you call Revelation your Book of Joy, but I call Philippians a Book of Joy because he uses the word joy and rejoice so many times. And this is a time when he is in prison. He’s seeing rats in the dungeon. These dungeons are not like our prisons now. They were dark holes down deep inside the city where men didn’t get bathed regularly. They didn’t get exercise. They didn’t eat food.
SPEAKER 06 :
Probably sometimes they were standing in sewage.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes. And so here is Paul and he’s. In the first chapter here, Darren, this is so wonderful that we can say, Father God, I thank you for an example like Paul who was able to withstand all of the enemy and his opponents to the end. And in verse 27 of chapter 1 of Philippians, only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit with one mind and striving together for the faith of the gospel in no way alarmed by your opponents. Darren, in no way alarmed by your opponents, not caring what the enemy does to you because you’re insulated. You’re insulated from him. You are on a spiritual journey and you’re clothed with spiritual clothes and spiritual armor that the enemy can’t touch. Oh, I want to be there. I’ll tell you what, that’s amazing to me.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, along with what you’re saying, we need to look at these trials as temporary. But here in, I’ve just found, I am just feasting on this scripture. In 1 Peter 1, verse 6. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you’ve been distressed by various trials. We’ve had a few of those, right? Last week was a week of distractibility in our lives. We had distractions up the kazoo, as we might say. But then verse 7. And this is 1 Peter 1, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold, which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Now, the stronger we stand, the longer we stand as we become very persistent. Say, I’m not giving in. I’m going to keep running back to the word. And then it goes on to say, and though you have not seen him, meaning Jesus, you love him. And though you do not see him now, but believe in him, you greatly rejoice with joy, inexpressible and full of glory. Now, that’s why I want to read that. You see, I want to I just I use this in our last teaching, but it says, though you have not seen him, you love him, though you do not see him now, but believe in him. You greatly rejoice with joy, inexpressible and full of glory. I believe, Barbara, the more we dive into scripture, the more we get to know Jesus and And there’s always a barrier there when you’re ready to go to another level. There’s always a, well, it’s just there. And you have to fight your way through that as you’re persistent. And yesterday I was sharing with you, I just said, you know, there’s just a barrier there. We’re fighting through a barrier, but the Lord tells me there’s a great breakthrough there. We just really need to hang in there. In the middle of the night last night at my Holy Ghost University meeting, The Lord was really speaking to me about that. He said, there’s the breakthroughs. You’re going to have the breakthrough. You hang in there. It’s just on the other side of the veil. And it’s not what you think it is on this side. Keep pressing in. Keep pressing in. That’s what he told me yesterday afternoon when I was out praying. He said, just press in, press in. You know, the payoff came about four o’clock this morning is a joyous time.
SPEAKER 05 :
We were with, I’m so glad, you know, we all need that kind of edifying in the spirit. We were with a wonderful couple on Saturday, and they’ve been standing firm against the trials and the tests of life and everything that’s come against them the last 20 years. They have a dream. And they have been, you know, the enemy has been coming against them. They’ve had opponents. They’ve had detours. And they have stood firm. I love the scripture in Philippians. Stand firm. Stand firm and don’t be alarmed by your opponents. And they have been faithful, Darren. They have, no matter what has happened, they’ve even had to dig into the savings that they had accumulated. And They had to live off that and her salary. And they have withstood it. They have been regular tithers. No matter what the economic situation, they have tithed. And Darren, we rejoiced with them and we celebrated with them Saturday because they’re seeing their breakthrough. And they’re not only, they’ve seen it in the spirit for a long time, but they’re seeing it in the physical now. And I call that financial money. They’re seeing it.
SPEAKER 06 :
It’s redefined long time. We’re talking about years.
SPEAKER 05 :
20, 20 years.
SPEAKER 06 :
And they’ve stood and they’ve been faithful and they’ve stood faithful to the Lord.
SPEAKER 05 :
Praise God.
SPEAKER 06 :
Even though there were days when I certainly wanted to give up. And in fact, the husband said… You know, I asked a neighbor, he was rather close to a neighbor, said, if you tell me I ought to give up, I’ll just give up. You know, he was that distressed at the moment. But no, the encouragement came, hang in there, hang in there, hang in there. And you know, God has just, I saw a strength in them because they have done that. And it reminds me of Hebrews 10, 36. For you have need of endurance, so when you’ve done the will of God, and the will of God is not to give up and run away.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s right.
SPEAKER 06 :
For you have need of endurance, so when you’ve done the will of God, you will receive what was promised. They are currently receiving the promise.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes.
SPEAKER 06 :
They’re watching it come true.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, I haven’t spent such an enjoyable time for a long time talking about reaching their dream and reaching their goals here in this life. What a joy to be with. And I’m asking you listeners today, wouldn’t you rather be associated with people like that that are reaching their goals and their dreams than stuck in a rut in the pits? And I believe that God is raising us up as a body to experience those breakthroughs, Darren, and get out of the pits. Absolutely. I believe, you know, Paul was in a pit here in Philippians, but he wasn’t. He might have been standing in sewage up to his armpits in reality, but he was not in the pits in the spirit.
SPEAKER 06 :
Well, in reality, in one of the dungeons he was in, I think it was in Rome, he was almost up to his hips in sewage in this horrible, horrible thing. Yeah. But I want to tell you, folks, when we came away from that time Saturday night with our friends, we, we were edified. It was a joyous time. Let’s take this phone call. I think I know this lady. Hello, Peg.
SPEAKER 03 :
Good morning. Good morning.
SPEAKER 06 :
I do know this lady.
SPEAKER 03 :
How are you? I’m great. I’m great. How are you, too? Good. Doing well. Good. You know, I wanted to call for a couple weeks and haven’t, one thing after another. But, you know, my, what it is, just getting straight to the point, is I lost my job and… Last time I went to the meeting, I did ask you to pray for favor for unemployment. Well, I didn’t get the state unemployment, but I got the federal unemployment. So 13 weeks, that will help me for a little bit. My problem is that I’m just burdened, if you will, that I was let go. It just hung over me for a long time.
SPEAKER 06 :
Did it make you feel like a loser?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I think I’m in shock and still in denial and realizing that, you know, I’ve never been let go ever, and I’ve only been promoted and You know, it’s really difficult, you know, and I keep thinking I’m going to overcome it, and I pray about it and seek the Lord and praise His name. Was it a job that you enjoyed, Peg? I did. I was learning something new, which was good, because I’m always wanting to learn a different, you know, more skills, something to better myself. And just one day they came to me and gave me a really bad review. And then I felt like they were trying to fire me or force me to quit. So I thought, I’m not quitting. The Lord, the thing is, what it is, is the Lord, I know, I know, I know, because I had like two or three job options at that time, three months ago or four months now. And I sought the Lord more than I had ever, which job I was to take. And I know that I know that I know God told me to take that job. And so, you know, I said, I’m not quitting. I’m not quitting here. I’m not quitting. And then two weeks later they came. I was really sick, and I had called in on Friday. Well, Friday night they called me and said, you know, I have some news to tell you. And I said, yeah. And they said, well, you know, we have to let you go. And so I felt like when I was really down, you know, physically, they knocked me down more. But, you know, I wrote to the occasion in the sense that I’m like, No, because if I know that I know that I know that God gave me that job, I also know that… He knew that they were going to let me go.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yes, I realize that. And you know he’s got something better for you. And what is the test here, Peg, is your reaction to this. Now, are we going to get down in the dumps? Are we going to go into the pit? Or are we going to rejoice in God our Savior? And, you know, I know that he, I’m confident of this, that he that began a good work in you, Peg, is going to perfect it and complete it. Right. I really believe that. So I would say this is just a little glitch. And although you enjoy the job, God’s going to give you a job maybe similar to that one that you can really enjoy.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I guess I just get stuck.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, we’re going to pray. Yeah, let’s pray.
SPEAKER 06 :
Because you’re ready for a promotion.
SPEAKER 05 :
That affects our attitudes sometimes, our personal attitudes.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s right. And anyone I have spoke to, no one really knows how down I am about it. It’s just more… I continue to give the glory to God, saying, I know he put me there, so I know that he knew that they were going to let me go.
SPEAKER 06 :
You know, sometimes God takes us on little mini detours, and there’s a reason. Only he knows what that is, but if we keep glorifying him, he’ll show us what the reason is.
SPEAKER 03 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Are you ready to pray?
SPEAKER 03 :
Thank you, Father. I’m ready.
SPEAKER 06 :
Lord God, you know how much we love this lady. She’s so special. She is very talented. She’s got that right. And Lord, bless that there’s an anointing on her life. And we know Satan always comes against those who are anointed. And now today I ask you to take away the hurt on the emotional level and also on the spiritual level. And Lord, just clear the windshield of her life so she can see ahead. Because that isn’t the only job. As good as that job was, you’ve got much better ones. And, Father God, we won’t look back now. We’re going to look forward because the future holds great things for Peg. And I thank you, Jesus, and I just ask you to hug her real tight today and let her have hope and not sorrow. In Jesus’ name, amen.
SPEAKER 03 :
Amen. Amen. So good. Thank you so much. And two quick praise reports I want to tell you.
SPEAKER 07 :
Good.
SPEAKER 03 :
You know, we had been praying for Madeline to stop having nightmares.
SPEAKER 07 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
And we had been praying, and I pray every night with her, like for… six months or nine months. Well, they have finally stopped. I finally got really firm with her and told her that we weren’t going to pray that she no longer has nightmares. We’re going to thank God that he’s giving her sweet, sweet slumber and that the Lord speaks to her at night. We just turned it around, and it took a while. I was getting frustrated. I was getting upset that it wasn’t happening. But now she doesn’t even ask for it. We just thank God every night. And she had sweet, sweet slumber. That’s good. So praise God for that. And the last thing is I want everybody to be encouraged about their angels. And, you know, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost things. I can’t even tell you. But I can tell you 100% of the time, and I mean it 100% of the time, when I have called those angels who are my servants, who we will judge, to help me, to show me. You know where they’re at. You know where it is. that 100% of the time I have found what I’m looking for.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, that’s great. That’s wonderful. Could you do me a favor and send me what you would really like as a perfect job and some of the good things in this last job that you really enjoyed. Send me what you want in a vocation, in a life job. Okay? Okay. We’ll agree with you on that. Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Hey, Peg, one more thing. Yes? We love you and you’re a winner.
SPEAKER 02 :
I know.
SPEAKER 06 :
Thank you so much. Love you guys. Bye. Bye-bye. Well, let’s go to Nebraska here and take a phone call real quickly. We’ve only got two minutes left. Bernice, how are you?
SPEAKER 02 :
I’m just pretty good. Good. Praise the Lord. I’m the one that would have lupus.
SPEAKER 06 :
Right.
SPEAKER 02 :
Do I have to accept that?
SPEAKER 06 :
No.
SPEAKER 05 :
Oh, you don’t want to accept that.
SPEAKER 02 :
No.
SPEAKER 06 :
Do you have pain right now from lupus?
SPEAKER 02 :
In my back.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. And you’re hurting right now?
SPEAKER 02 :
No, not right now.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 02 :
It’s when I, you know, get up and walk. It hurts so bad.
SPEAKER 06 :
Okay. I’m going to pray for you, and I want you to call me back tomorrow.
SPEAKER 02 :
Okay.
SPEAKER 06 :
Father God, I ask right there in Sidney, Nebraska, that you would reach down and that you would touch Bernice. I believe she has enough faith to receive this miracle. So, Father God, right now I ask you to just put a belt of faith and protection and healing around her. And, Lord, I say you’re doing that. And, Lord, I thank you. I really thank you that she has the faith today. She calls you back tomorrow. There’s going to be a distinct difference in how she feels. In Jesus’ name, amen.
SPEAKER 02 :
