SPEAKER 02 :
Hi, this is Jay Webb for International Gospel Hour. Welcome to our broadcast today. For over 90 years, Churches of Christ have proclaimed God’s Word through our broadcasts. Just ahead is another Bible-based lesson with Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour. Let’s begin.
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, thank you always to our J-Web. And greetings and hello, everyone. It is always a joy to have each and every listener of the International Gospel Hour. Thank you for tuning in and for studying the Word of God with us. I want to emphasize something with you, and you may have noticed this. We never ask for your money on this broadcast. That’s right, friends. Everything that we offer of a study, material, or things to read or share with you, it’s always absolutely free. And we want to help you in your study of the Word of God. Please rest assured as you listen to our broadcast that we’re not going to ask you for money to receive any type of cloth or any type of certain blessing or whatever or a book or whatever. We are blessed with so many that love our work, that share with us a lot of material to share with you. So again, what you hear from the International Gospel Hour, our study material, is always free. Always has been, always will be, from International Gospel Hour. on air and even online since 1934. Today, friends, this is from a series that I began here on the broadcast called A Sermon I Heard. And, you know, I’m blessed with our work at International Gospel Hour to present these programs on the radio and also weekly television. And, of course, in so doing, I’m always reading or listening. I’m on the lookout for good biblical material that I can share with you. Now, not only are there studies that I have developed that are presented here, but as long-time listeners know, I present outlines of the past that were preached by others, preachers that have passed on. And I present some good articles worthy of study, and it’s just always an honor to study with you, and I hope you find our time together profitable. I’m always honored that you have chosen to join us. Well, as I travel with International Gospel Hour, there are times that I speak at churches, and it may be just during the Bible class assembly, which means I get to hear their preacher, and I love those occasions. And so while making notes of a lesson, it occurred to me, why not add another series of broadcasts within International Gospel Hour and simply call it a sermon I heard and share it with you, and thus our occasion today. I’m grateful for my brother and friend Paul Sane of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Rogersville, Alabama, for the lesson we’re going to consider today. I would also add, please look at Paul’s website, sanepublications.com, and you can see some good work there on his website. The lesson that he delivered is titled, God’s Wonderful Rich Gifts. Now friends, it was so full of content, this is going to be part one of two. We’re going to begin in a moment, but first, as you are hearing us here, and I mentioned TV a little earlier, well, here’s some information about our YouTube channel.

Let us know your city and state and we will let you know where you can see International Gospel Hour TV as well as on our YouTube channel. Let’s talk about God’s wonderful rich gifts. Let’s introduce some thoughts here. In John 3, 16 and 17, the Bible says, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. God gave his Son. Friends, pause and think about that for a moment. Can one think of a better gift? And, you know, it is only through Christ that we have any opportunity of salvation, for there is salvation in none other, Acts 4 and verse 12. God gave His Son for us. Think about that for a moment. Written to Christians, those who are already saved, please hear 2 Peter 1, verses 1-4. Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to, listen, those who have obtained like precious faith, with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power, watch now, has given to us all things, has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us Friends, here’s another section of text, 1 Timothy 6, 17 and 19. Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. Friends, here’s another one, Titus 2, 11-14. For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously, ungodly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people zealous for good works. Friends, the grace of God expresses these gifts given. Again, salvation, how to live, what to avoid, and again, as we noted, giving Himself for us that we may be redeemed and to become His. We note again, verse 14, He gave Himself for us to redeem, to purify, that we may pursue the zeal and the good things therein. Now, friends, when we introduce these thoughts, just consider with me, God wants everyone to be saved because He has blessed us with some wonderful, rich gifts. He gave His only begotten Son. There’s no other way we can be saved other than through Jesus Christ. What a great gift! He gave His inspired Word that instructs, that warns us, and pleads with us. What a wonderful gift to open up the Bible and to see God’s will for our lives. There is nothing else needed. How about the gift of another day? You know, friends, we have no promise of tomorrow. As I record this, I think within this year, the taking of two very special friends suddenly, no idea that they would pass from this life so soon. Friends, there is no promise of tomorrow. You know, as you are listening to this broadcast, it’s a good possibility that I won’t be around to record anymore. What is that saying that has been brought forth by so many that goes kind of like this? Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present. Love that thought, friends. So, you know, as we talk about God’s wonderful rich gifts, He’s made them available to us. Just like in all gifts, we have to accept it. I want to pause here for our J-Web. We have an awesome study by some friends of ours titled, God and Man, How to Be Saved from Sin. It’s in booklet form. It’s easy to use, easy to study. The number of people that have been baptized into Christ through this study, just tremendous. You can have it free from International Gospel Hour. And here is our Jay Webb with the details.
