SPEAKER 03 :
Isaiah said something really powerful. I’m going to read a couple of those to you, and then I’m going to get into my message. Isaiah 4, verse 14 says, Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and you will call his name Emmanuel. You know, a really quick story about that. My little nephew, he’s about this little, and I remember when I first got saved about the third, fourth month, I started taking him to church. And he was standing beside me. He was just a little guy, so cute, just loving Jesus. And of course, he really didn’t know much about worship and praise. And everybody was standing up and everybody was, you know, praising God. And he’s beside me and he’s going, Aunt Luauna, Aunt Luauna. And he’s pulling on my shirt. I said, what? What? He goes, Aunt Luauna. They’re singing about me. Everybody’s singing about me because we were singing, Emmanuel, Emmanuel, God Almighty, Emmanuel. Guess what his name was? Emmanuel. So he thought everybody was singing about him, and he was so excited that everybody would realize who he is. Well, Isaiah the prophet prophesied over 700 years before even Jesus was born. A virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. Isaiah chapter 9, reading in verse 6. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. The government will be upon his shoulders, and his name will be called Wonderful. Counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Let me stop there for a moment. That is such a powerful verse to understand. Jesus, got to remember, here is Isaiah. 700 years before the birth of Jesus is telling you and I that he is going to be wonderful, that our Jesus is going to be our counselor. How many times do you need a counsel? You need a counsel not from man. You need a counselor from God. It’s exactly what Ms. Lee said. I cannot believe the reports of the natural doctors because their reports were evil. All they see with the natural eye. But God, his counsel is yes and amen. He’s the God who hears no matter what we’re going through. How many times have you been into a state where you feel like you are isolated? You’re all alone. You’re in a crowd that is so massive, and yet you feel like you’re all alone. That’s when you need the counselor. You need the comforter. You need the prince of peace. You need the mighty God. You need the almighty God. And Isaiah prophesied, wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father. What a blessing to have you in these baby boys’ life. You have no idea what it’s like. How many here were not raised with a good father? Lift your hands. Lift your hands. How many? I want you to look around. You see, not everybody had good fathers. Not everybody had their fathers around. But to have a father that loves their babies and loves their wife, what a miracle. You know, it’s a miracle. For those of you that didn’t have good fathers, he’s the everlasting father. You see, my father left when I was born. He never stuck around. My mom came home from the hospital with me in her arms, walked into the door, caught him with another woman. She dropped me right there and turned around and walked out. A little bit later, I ended up in an orphanage. You see, you don’t know what it’s like when you don’t understand what it is to be without a father. I remember searching and searching for my identity. I just needed to know who am I? Where did I come from? Why did my father leave me? Why did all these things happen to me? You have no idea. But God is an everlasting father. He said, I will never leave you. I will never forsake you. Our everlasting father will be right there. Somebody shout hallelujah. He’s the prince of peace. How many of you have been tormented in your heart? You ever need peace? You know, things change. Torment comes around you. You lose your job. The bills are piling up. The phone bill is due. The gas is empty. You need new tires. It seems like everything is insane. Everything is crazy. What am I going to do? What’s going to happen here? But God is in charge. He’s the Prince of Peace. He calms the sea. Somebody shout amen. Amen. Can you imagine the disciples in the boat? In that boat, a storm comes. The storm is raging. The waves… There he gets my sound effects. The waves are billowing. The boat is moving. The boat is rocking. It’s not a small boat. It’s a big boat, but they’re scared. Jesus is down at the bottom of the boat on a pillow sleeping. Do you ever feel like God is sleeping in your situation? He’s not sleeping. I promise you, he knows what you need. He’s going to be right on time, Danny. He’s going to be right on time, Vicki. He knows everything that you need. He knows everything that’s happening. All things work together. For the good to those that love God and are called according to his purpose. You may not see the end right now. I didn’t see the end in an orphanage. I didn’t see the end without a father. I didn’t see what was happening. I didn’t see the end when my mother took me to that orphanage. I will never forget it. I was little as these little guys here. My mom took me in her beautiful red 64 Chevy red candy apple red white car. interior convertible with white leather seats. I was in the back seat. I had little patent leather black shoes. I had ankle socks. I had a pleated, those green kind of Irish skirts, and I had a white shirt tucked in. I was sitting in the back seat, and I asked my mom, where are we going, mom? And she said, you’ll see. I said, where are we going, mom? You’ll see. So we’re driving from Colorado Springs all the way to Pueblo, Colorado. I have no idea where we’re going. I just know we’re going somewhere. And we get to this place that’s all brick. And there’s a wrought iron gate. That opens up. That big gate of wrought iron opens up. My mom walks me by the hand, and there are nuns in there. I didn’t know what they were. To me, they looked like ghosts. You remember the nuns from the old days? The nuns from the old days used to wear the white things on their forehead and those long robes, and then they had a belt around them. There were two different types, one that wore the black and one that wore the white, in case you didn’t know that. So my mom walks me in there and the lady comes up to me and my mom hands her my hand and says, go with the lady. I said, I don’t want to go with you. And she goes, would you like a banana? I said, I don’t want a banana. I don’t want a banana. I don’t want a banana. And my mom says, go with her, Luauna. So of course, I take the lady’s hand and we walk over to a small swing set, but my eye is on my mother. My mother turns around, talks to the lady, and just like that, she turns around. She walks out. When I see her walk out of those gates, I remember running as a little one, just small, running 90 miles an hour, and I ran to that gate, and I couldn’t open it. It was locked. I remember the wrought iron gate. I tried to open it, and I remember my mom turned around for one minute, and I said, don’t Leave me here. Don’t leave me here, Mommy. Don’t leave me here. And all of a sudden, my mom’s car took off. See, God knows when we need the counselor. God knows when we need peace. God knows everything that’s happening in our lives. You know, God has a plan and he has a purpose. He’s the mighty God. He’s the everlasting father. He’s the prince of peace. God is our counselor. Somebody say amen. He’s the mighty God. There’s no fear. You ever had fear? You ever been so scared that you just can’t even breathe? You wonder what’s going to happen? What are you going to do? What are you going to say? You ever get so nervous around somebody you almost don’t even know what to do or say? But God has it all under control. Somebody say amen. He’s the everlasting Father. He’s humble. He’s humble. Do you know what the prophet Zechariah said? Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem. Behold, your king is coming to you. He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey. a colt and a fowl of a donkey. You see, Jesus was humble. He was very humble. Do you understand how humble he was? He was the king of kings. He was the Lord of lords. He was the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last, the everlasting God. Almighty stepped out of his heavenly glory to come down here to walk on this earth, to lower himself, born in a manger, a cradle, and not only born in a cradle, but walked for 30 and three years amongst the people that hated him. He healed them. He fed them. He took care of them. But they didn’t love him. They followed him but didn’t care. They could care less who Jesus was. They wanted bread. They wanted to see the miracles. Jesus said, you follow me because you want bread. You see, they weren’t following him because he was Lord. They didn’t know that yet. But here is the prophet Zechariah who says, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout. Do you understand what he was telling to the children of Israel? He was saying, I’m going to send you a deliverer. I’m going to send you the Messiah. I’m going to send you the Savior, the Rock of Ages. And he’s going to make himself real to you. And you’re going to know who he is. You see, long before Jesus was born, the prophetic word was told about Jesus. I like the psalmist David in Psalms chapter 41, verse 9. He says, even my own family friend in whom I trusted, whom ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. Who was the psalmist David talking about? He was talking about Judas Iscariot. How would the Psalmist David know that Judas Iscariot would betray Jesus at the very part of the Last Supper? He walked with Jesus. You know, the Psalmist told us that because you and I have to know, betrayal were gonna come to you at times. You ever been betrayed? You ever been betrayed by somebody you love? That’s the deepest pain of all. to be betrayed by the one that you loved. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus with what? With a kiss. He comes up to him and kisses him. Don’t kiss me, tell me you love me, and then betray me. Jesus says to Judas in that garden, he said, Judas, friend, You see, he was his friend. You betray me with a kiss? You see, Jesus knew that you and I at different times would have betrayal. He knew that. He knew that. Jesus knew there would be times where your heart would be so broken, your life would feel like it’s falling apart. Right? You would look for answers and you couldn’t find them from human beings. He knew. He knew that you were going to go through that. He knew your husband would walk out on you. He knew your wife would hurt you. He knew your wife would betray you. He knew that your sister or your brother or your uncle or your nephew. He knew when you were sexually molested. He knew all of that. Nothing is hidden from God. The prophet Zechariah says these words. He said, I will pour on the house of David, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and supplication. When they look upon me, whom they pierced, Yes, they will mourn for him as one who mourns for his only son. And they will grieve for him as the grievers for the firstborn. You see, the prophet Zechariah knew. He knew. He said, they’re going to mourn. They’re going to pierce Jesus. Why did Jesus do all that? God’s love for you and I was so deep and so amazing. We had no idea how deep his love is for us. Why does he want to heal Ms. Lee? Because he loves Ms. Lee. Why does he want to restore your life? Because he loves you. Why is he there when your father’s not there? Because he loves you. He’s your everlasting father. Why is he there in the chaos? Because he’s the Prince of Peace. Why is he there in the middle of the storm? He calms the storm. God is almighty. He knows our future. That’s why he went to the cross. Why did he go to that cruel cross? He didn’t have to. When we think about the cross, when we think about what he did, you have to understand This death that Jesus, the sacrifice, why? Why? Why did he do that? Jesus faced hours, hours, hours of brutal suffering at the hands of trained soldiers. These soldiers were trained to do the best. They were trained to They knew how to torment. They knew how to torture. They knew when they beat Jesus 39 lashes. Do you understand the cat? I wanted to put together a cat a nine tail so you could a whip so you could understand it has nine strands on it where they beat Jesus in your mind. You may think it was one whip. No, no, no, no. No, that whip had nine strands. And on each of those strands had pieces of metal and rock and different things. So when they go to hit Jesus and they tie him to that post and they go to beat him, those nine strands wrap around him and rip his skin to shreds. Isaiah 53 tells us, and 52, he was marred beyond any man. Do you understand the word marred? You couldn’t even recognize him. He was beaten to a pulp. We had a black eye before. You ever had a black eye? We think, oh my gosh, this black eye is terrible. What about beaten so bad you can’t even be recognized? That’s what they did to Jesus. Suffering at the hands of trained soldiers. Why? He could have stopped them. He was the king of kings. He could have said, this is enough. We’re not doing this anymore. Call down legions of angels. Kill them all, Lord. Why could he have done that? Because when Elijah cried out on the mountain, Lord, these soldiers are coming after me. And God said, you know what? Call fire down. And Elijah said, let fire come down. If I be a man of God, then let fire come down and consume you. And just like that, fire came down and consumed 50 of his top soldiers. Another 50 come. And you know what Elijah says? If I be a man of God, then let fire come down and consume you just like that. Another 50 soldiers were killed. The next 50 comes and Elijah goes to say, if I, they close, wait, wait, Elijah, have mercy. Oh, wait, let’s talk about this, Elijah. You can read it. Elijah, don’t, don’t, don’t call fire down. they realize that Elijah is truly a man of God. And God speaks to Elijah and says, go down with them. You see, the God that we serve is powerful. We have to know who God is. Sometimes we are so busy looking at the natural that we cannot see who our God is. We don’t realize our God is a God that loves us so much that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever would believe in him would have everlasting life. You see, when we understand who he is and why did he do it, I’ll tell you why. Hebrews. Oh, don’t you just love God’s word? You wonder if God likes coffee? Hebrews. Just kidding. Hebrews. Okay. Hebrews coffee? That’s bad. Okay. All right. Hebrews. Let’s read. Why did God do it? Why did Jesus do it? Why, why, why? I’m glad you asked that question. Hebrews chapter 1. Oh, my goodness. Hebrews chapter 12. Therefore, oops, just lost it. Hold on. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight that sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith. Here it is. Who for the joy that was set before him. Let me stop there. For the joy that was set before him. What joy was set before him? What joy? You and I. For the joy that was set before him, looking to Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Let me stop there for a moment. Why did he do it? Because he was looking through time and he saw you and I. He saw what we were going through. He saw that we were living in a fallen world. He said, I’m going to open up the door of salvation. I’m going to bring them into the promised land of my kingdom. I’m going to bring them the joy that they need, the peace that they need. I’m going to be their counselor. I’m going to be their healer. I’m going to be their prince of peace. I’m going to be their Jehovah Jireh, their supplier. I’m going to be their God. I’m going to be the redeemer. I’m going to be the rock of ages. And I’m going to have them spend eternity with me in heaven. Somebody shout hallelujah. That’s the God that we serve. for the joy that was set before him. Do you understand that while he was on the cross, he was looking at you and me? Do you know, you may end up being the president one day. God knows our future. I would have never dreamed that I would be a preacher. My husband was murdered. I was a single mother raising two children. My husband went out to party with his friends one night and guess what? He went home with some girl and guess what? Her husband came home, caught him and killed him. My life was a mess. I was hurt. I was angry. I was betrayed. I was broken. I had two little ones. Now what am I going to do? I am not a Christian. I’m not born again. I don’t know Jesus. What am I going to do with my life? But you see God in his mercy for the joy that was set before him. Do you understand? For the joy that was set before him. God saw me. God looked at me. I was rejected. I was rejected by my mom, rejected by my dad, now rejected by my husband. But God in his mercy, he did not reject me. Hallelujah. God loved me and had a plan for me.
