SPEAKER 01 :
Welcome to the Corner Cafe.
SPEAKER 02 :
And welcome to the Corner Cafe. I’m Rachel Maines. And on today’s show is a businesswoman and influencer in the business world, Jen Boyle. And her company is Moore Lifestyle Management. Welcome to the Corner Cafe studio. Hi, so happy to be here. Well, it’s great to have you want to give a shout out to Elise. She’s amazing. And she introduced us and she’s a great singer songwriter as well. And she’s very, very gifted. And right now she’s your executive assistant. Yes. So thank you so much to her. She knows some great peeps. Am I correct that we all have we have a similar friend also in common, Rachel Amadei? yes yes love her yes such good people yes good peace we need to have like a a time where we all get together at a coffee shop yes but you have a very unique business gen so you know this show now features influencers and we think here and i know you would agree everybody has an influence no matter if you’re an entrepreneur if you’re a radio host if you’re a teacher if you’re a mom We all have an influence. And the point being is we should all be a positive influence in whatever sphere that we have. But God gave you a very unique business. Explain what you do.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, so about 13 years ago, I kind of fell into my role of serving people. I saw the need and then I met a lot of CEOs, athletes, agents, you name it, just people that were so busy and they couldn’t take care of their day-to-day life. So I went in and I said, we need to take this house and treat it like a business. So set up the systems that makes a business successful on the home front and And so we add value by hiring all of their vendors, making a home calendar so all of that runs smoothly, going in, organizing their house, running their errands, doing their laundry, helping with their pets, their kids, everything. So all we care about is giving time back to our clients that really need it.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right. That is beautiful. And I know in my own life story, I have seen how God’s connected me and pointed me towards something that I wouldn’t even dream of. But as I live my life, something kind of appears. I’m like, wow, this is what I’m supposed to do. So it sounds like the same with you. God was connecting you with all these people. And you’re like, hey, you guys, all my friends, all these people I’m meeting need help. And he gave you this idea for this business.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. And I think a lot of people, you know, there’s half and half. Some people know exactly what they want to do when they grow up and then others have no clue. I was definitely the one that just knew I didn’t want to work for anybody besides myself. So I had to figure it out. But, yeah, so I think it took bringing the right people around me. And then I know the foundation of what I grew up with, with my dad owning his own financial advising firm there. And then my mom quitting her job to take care of one, my dad, but also the kids and running the household. I got to see both sides of of systemizing a business and the household. So it was a pretty big blessing in my life that I didn’t know I was going to use later on, but I did.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s beautiful.
SPEAKER 02 :
And I like how your business more lifestyle management. You also do like put together trips and stuff, just anything that they would say, hey, I need help with this. You’re going to do it. Absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
Absolutely. I mean, the thing is about it’s adding value. So go in. We make a foundational list because everyone has their bigger, biggest stressors like stress. jen i don’t have time to eat with my kids i don’t have time to do the laundry or go on vacation or have a date night so it’s like okay let’s figure out why or where you’re spending your time let’s make a list but then we got to grow the relationship it’s about a long-term relationship trust so then once we’re in their house on a weekly basis doing the functional things then they come to us can you can you plan um valentine’s day surprise can you plan this trip can you do this baby shower and that’s where it becomes so rewarding because yeah we’re going to be doing the mundane weekly tasks that are going to better your life but then we get to do the one-offs where it’s like wow we really did make that memory of of a trip for them or that baby shower so I know it’s rewarding to my team and to the clients.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, you must have a very organizational mind. You have that gift for that because a lot of people do struggle with that. I mean, the business aspect, but to be able to take the pieces of somebody’s life and be able to make it cohesive, I think that would be a bit of a challenge.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, but when it comes down to it, we’re all people. We’re all very similar in what we need. It just shifts a little bit. If you’re a single person, if you’re in a relationship, if you have kids, if you’re an athlete, if you’re a CEO, like all of those things shift, but we are a lot of the same needs.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, I like that perspective. How do you pick your clients? Is there a vetting process? Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, man, I’ve been so blessed in business. It’s, you know, been 13 years of referrals. Yes. Do we have a website? Do we have the Instagram? We do. But I get so, so many great clients just based off of a happy client. Right. And that is honestly how I always want to live. My life and my business is is referral based. But yeah, it’s mostly agents like sports agents hearing about us real estate agents like using us to unpack organize their house and then take care of them. And yeah, I don’t know a lot of a lot of different vendors, but mostly our clientele growing us.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
That’s really what I could ask for.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Word of mouth is gold.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah. And you’ll always be in business with word of mouth and doing your job excellently and providing that service. Then, yeah, no problem there. You don’t need to spend on advertisement at all.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yes, absolutely. And then I think it’s also, you know, feeding into your team, believing in your team and showing them love because they love. They will so talk about us if they believe in what they’re doing and feel the value of of the love inside that house. Then they have no problem when they’re out and they’re like, oh, you don’t have time for this. Oh, we do this like we’ll wrap all of your Christmas presents. We’ll set up the tree.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah. Well, I was just going to ask you, how do you pick your team? What are some of the characteristics that you’re looking for?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, well, I’m very grateful for that. A lot of those have been referrals and word of mouth. And even, yeah, from my team members saying, oh, my friend used to be an executive or a home manager. They’re moving here. So that’s been a blessing. Sometimes we have to look outside because honestly, we’re in eight different cities now. So we definitely have to use resources in other cities. But the characteristics, like I care about, One thing and one thing only, I care about your heart because then I know I can trust you in the house. I know that you’re gonna work so hard for our clients, for me, for your team members around you. I can teach everything. I have systems, I have learning processes set up. Yes, is it nice if someone comes with a home management or assistant background or some executive experience Yeah, that’s huge. We can grow so faster with that person. But honestly, I don’t want someone with just those skill sets, but then they don’t match up with my heart. I can’t have that. I’ve got to have the heart first and everything else can be taught.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, I agree with that. Someone quoted this. I’m not sure who. Maybe you know, but hire for character and everything else can be taught. So I really agree. I saw that on LinkedIn, too, not too long ago. And I liked it. I’m like, yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I totally agree. I totally agree.
SPEAKER 02 :
You explained how your business is serving people, which is similar to ministry. Ministry should be serving people. We all should be serving people in whatever influence that we have. How do you see yourself as a ministry?
SPEAKER 03 :
I mean, I think… I think it is my heart. I think it is my value. What we’re doing as a company is just giving people time or helping them be happy with the life that they have. You can never make someone happy, but you can put in pieces. to make it easier for them, which is going to be overall happiness. But for me, yeah, I honestly don’t care where God my business takes me. I just want to be a good person. That’s all I’ve cared about. And I think if you just focus on being a good person and giving and serving that you get that tenfold back.
SPEAKER 02 :
Amen to that. Absolutely. Yeah, if we could always focus on that, no matter if we have our own company or we’re in a company, we should need to be there to be a good person and do a good job. Do you have any traditions, for lack of a better word, within your company that kind of spark your employees’ morale or things that you guys do? Maybe you guys have a night out or anything else that you do to kind of just make sure that everybody’s openly communicating and that the business is running smoothly. Yeah.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, I think we do a lot of things right in that area. But I could say if I didn’t have an executive team that was in between me and all of my home managers, that those are some of the things that I would forget about. Because I… I get so focused on growing the company and taking care of my team that, yes, I know my team loves me. Like I have employees say, I love you. I’m so happy here. And I honestly love them, too. I’m so grateful. I don’t ever want to be so big that I can’t have that type of relationship with my employees. But I do know my executives are the ones that always bring me back because I’m running on a million miles per hour. They always bring me back and be like, oh, yeah. your team kind of misses you or we need a happy hour or whatever it is. So, yeah, we do team meetings because we’re spread out across the country, but we try to do team meetings, team Zooms. We do happy hours quarterly. And I do know that when they get together, that adds so much value to their life, their happiness. And I think that’s been a huge… positive of this company and why my employees stay longer is what we do is very one off in the rest of the world. So there’s one off personal assistants or there’s one off estate managers where they just get hired by a CEO or by a company or household and they’re all alone. So they don’t have anybody to bounce ideas off of, questions that they have. They don’t have the growth systems, the training. So when I get somebody that’s been an estate manager or a personal assistant and they come in and they’re like, wow, I… never had somebody that I could talk to when I had a bad day. I never had somebody that I could reach out to as a teammate and ask questions and and grow with. Like, I love this job. I love that I have this support. So I think what we’ve set up is pretty unique in our industry. And yes, thank God for my executives that really make sure we’re doing the team building things.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right. Sounds beautiful because, you know, people oftentimes, well, maybe I shouldn’t say oftentimes, but you do hear people who are very unhappy in their work life, right? A lot of that stems from the top. And so to have a good owner who your core value is to be a good person, to spread that down, be a positive influence to your team. So that they can be a positive influence to your clients. If there’s fear-based employment, then they’re not going to be a positive influence to your clientele. You have to have a love-based environment. And it seems you would agree. Oh, absolutely.
SPEAKER 03 :
And I think so much of life is mental. It’s so much in your brain. So I think… I have to set every day with those intentions. I have to change any of my executives’ emotions. If they’re coming in stressed, I have to switch it to positive or switch it to A plus B equals C. Let’s figure out the problem and let’s fix it right now. and if i do it there then they know how to coach they know how to train better the home managers but also they know that they always have access to me they can call me when they’re down but i think if i woke up and i allowed myself to be tired you know then i would change the whole energy of my whole team and my clients for that day and i there’s not one day that i can let that slide I have to come in, I have to get my workout in, and I have to come in with positive energy because that only uplifts every single person that we touch that day.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right. Yeah, and we’re all human, you know? We just spoke, you and I are both tired today, right? I wish I had my matcha tea that I couldn’t have at lunch. But I’m curious to know, as a business owner and as a leader, how do you, with those skills, do that? You wake up, you’re in a bad mood, right? You may be sad. You’re tired. What do you do internally to get yourself going?
SPEAKER 03 :
I mean, one, I was built up, played sports my whole life. So I’m very, again, I’m very like a mental aspect of my life. Like if that is not perfect, we’re going to have problems. So I know that if I wake up and I kill myself in a workout… The day is going to be great. I can handle any stressful situation, any bad thing that happens. But I just need my workout in. So people just need to let me work out in the morning. And then it’s going to be a great day. But I just know that I have… less patience if I don’t burn that out. So it’s like you have to figure out those things about yourself as you evolve, what things have to be set in place, just like what things have to be set in place for a household to run smoothly. Like you have to figure that out on your own self to make you happy. So yes, I need to wake up. I need to work out. I need to not eat. until the evening because if i try to eat during the day then i’m not gonna be this energized so like there’s just things that i have to do like sauna and steam unless then i go to the cool down period i know i won’t go to bed because i’m so hyped up on how awesome life is So I think you just have to plan out your day and set those intentions exactly how you run the rest of your life. Right.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yes. I could tell you’re very disciplined, which you need to be owning a business. And that does take some discipline. You know, for someone who’s listening, it may just be walking the dog in the morning, making sure you’re getting, you know, some people need only eight hours. Some people need more. You know, I’m a nine hour gal myself. I don’t have nine hours just exhausted the next day. So you just have to know yourself, your own unique self. But give that self-care, if you will, working out is self-care.
SPEAKER 03 :
Mm hmm. Yeah, and I think we are all so different. So I would never tell somebody to live on the energy that I live. No, please don’t try to be me. Please be you. I promise that you are the best at being you. And there’s nothing wrong with a calmer demeanor or, you know, someone that needs to have a little bit more strength. structure or breaks in their life. There’s nothing wrong with any of it. It’s just we’re all built differently and we have to figure those things out and then utilize them.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right. And it is so beautiful that the Lord made us so unique. I mean, you look at so many unique individuals and gifts and how they look and all that. He definitely… made a beautiful world with a lot of uniqueness. Are there times, and I’m sure there are, where maybe you’re stumped or you’re needing wisdom and you ask the Lord, hey, I need help in this decision for this particular client or this decision overall for my company?
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, absolutely. I think, yeah, you have to pray every day if you want to be hearing the things that are being thrown out there for you or to see the signs. I think that’s beyond important. But I see a lot of that. I hear a lot of that. But I think a lot of that comes in other people as well. So if you’re asking, I think God has provided a lot of other way smarter business people than me in my life. And I think they have blessed me with the wisdom to grow differently, to look at a situation differently, to hire differently. And I think that has guided me a lot. And I know that that is why I am the leader that I am in my business. And I know that’s why one of my biggest things is, yes, I want to grow my company. But if I can… Help any other woman along the way because a lot of women did not help me when I started off and that’s okay. But I think for me, a lot of men have been in my world helping and guiding me. But I want to be very intentional about the women that I empower and grow and evolve and can help with because it’s needed.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah. Yeah. We all need mentorship and… You’re humble enough to receive mentorship and also to give mentorship. And I think you got to once you’ve given so much, you need the release of giving once you have been given. So that circle, if you will, I think are living your best life if you’re in that mentality.
SPEAKER 04 :
Mm hmm.
SPEAKER 02 :
yeah one being open to receive it but yeah to to give as well right so those who are listening who want you know you feel like oh god’s calling me to to have a business or maybe you’re just scared you want to have a business but you’re scared you don’t know you don’t know the first steps one of those first steps will pray of course but then also see the people that god’s putting in your life to help you with this particular vision. It sounds like that was another thing that kind of confirmed that you are meant to do this.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah, and I want to hit on you saying fear. I do think that is a big deal for a lot of people, and that is one thing that I have never accepted in my life. I don’t use the term. I don’t believe in it. I won’t let myself go there. But I think that’s one of those mentality things like, yes, once that’s kind of been programmed in or you’ve accepted that, then yes, that can be problematic on a daily basis. So I think you have to go inside and you do have to pray and seek and whatever. But you have the power. You are so powerful. You have the power to say no. I don’t need to have fear. Right. What’s the worst that can happen? I fail? Big deal. Right. Step up and go do something else or try, try again. Like they always say what it takes like 10 years to be an overnight success. Yeah. So what are you afraid of? Right. Like I can’t tell you how many times there was ebbs and flows to get to where I’m at right now. And I’m not even to where I’m at, where I want to be, you know, like I’ll get there, but I don’t know why there’s so much fear when all you have to do is know that you have God. Right. And to keep going. Right. You can’t fail if you have God.
SPEAKER 02 :
Right. Totally agree. I think, too, just that, you know, fear. People think maybe they’re not good enough. But the thing is, I don’t think we’re ever really good enough in general. And especially for the thing that God’s called us to. If we felt like, oh, I could do this. I got it. Well, we’d never need him. So that’s great that if you don’t think you’re good enough or smart enough, but God can put people who can help you and mentor you and who are smart and can kind of pave the way. So I love hearing about your testimony with your business. Yeah. Yeah. It’s all it all comes back to you.
SPEAKER 03 :
You and God.
SPEAKER 02 :
So I love that. Anything you want to highlight? I know, you know, we’ve already learned how unique your business is, which is more lifestyle management. But what else are some unique aspects of what you do that’s different than the other folks out there, other companies that do similar things?
SPEAKER 03 :
I would say. There’s not really a lot of companies like mine out there, and I know I’m blessed in that way, but there’s a lot of just organizational companies. So they’ll go organize your house, and then they’ll leave. But the problem with that is the consistency. You can organize a house and spend a lot of money to organize a house, and then a month later that household is a mess again. So we take that aspect and we say, no, we’ll organize your house, but unless we’re the ones upkeeping and meeting the vendors, the house is gonna fail. It’s gonna go back to square one. So there’s organizational companies, there’s relocation companies, but again, they move you, unpack, and they’re out. So they can’t tell you where they put your favorite pair of socks, you know, or where the iPad is. Like, they’re not going to remember those things. But again, if you use us, we do that. Our clients develop a relationship with us, and then they allow us to move them because they know they have that consistent piece. We are going to remember where the favorite socks are. We are going to set up their electronics and iPad system in in the next house how we set it up in the last house so they’re not going to have a problem finding that or it being charged so we take a lot of aspects a lot of other companies and we just blended them into one to be full service because when it comes down to it the trust in the long-term relationship then you can do anything you could do anything for a household then you bring uh All of our training, all of our systems, all of our team aspect. It is a one stop of family. Right. Forever.
SPEAKER 02 :
So, yeah, because I was hearing that it’s very personal. It’s it’s a more personal business in that. Your clients are allowing them, your employees, into their home. But it’s a personal thing because it’s long-term. And you mentioned the favorite socks. That’s a personal thing. You can go into somebody’s home and clean it, but never know where the favorite socks are, for example. So I like that blending of the professional and the personal. which would establish trust and it is needed for long term as well.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. I mean, it’s a career, it’s a business, but we’re in their safe space. Like the home is private, private, private. So, yeah, we need to come in with that. business mentality of here’s our checklist here’s what we’re going to do but oh we’re going to fill the energy of our clients today is it a good day do can i ask them things you know is this one i should bring up did you forget an anniversary gift again this year should we go get that for you you know so it’s like we get to develop like that’s an honor that we get to have to take care of our clients
SPEAKER 02 :
Beautiful. Well, listeners, if you maybe you know somebody who needs their help, who’s high profile, just go to morelm.com. That’s morelm.com. Also, for those of you who’d like to maybe, you know, be hired, what is the hiring process? The hiring process is…
SPEAKER 03 :
you know, intense. Um, cause again, we’re going into their safe space, so we have to bring on the right, the right people. Um, but it’s usually a couple interviews with me, with an executive. We take them in, we do a couple hours of showing them really what it would be about. There’s background checks, there’s NDAs signed. Um, But really, it’s an energy. It’s a feeling. It’s a heart. It’s an effort. So you can see that pretty right away with people. And then it’s a three month training period with us before you actually get your first client.
SPEAKER 02 :
Wow. Wow. I love that. Well, thanks for all you do and your unique business and who you are is very unique. And I’m just thankful to have met you. Thank you for coming on Corner Cafe.
