But let’s talk about one today that helps us as we deal with suffering. For he suffered for all of us. Our lesson text is John chapter 1 verses 29 through 36. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me. I did not know him, but that he should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water. And John the Lord witnessed, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and he remained upon him. I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, Upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God. And again the next day John stood with two of his disciples, and looking at Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold, the Lamb of God. Now, friends, do you suppose if John said this twice, that indeed this is the Lamb of God? As the word Christ was in the beginning with God, so was also God’s plan for man through the Christ that He would be the Lamb slain for all, the greatest sacrifice and gift ever given, and the only redemption and hope for mankind. Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the pure and the best that God would send for the redemption of man’s soul. No, friends, no longer would there be the offering of a number of lambs, but once for all, Hebrews 10 and verse 10. In a few moments, we’re going to study of the beauty of the Lamb of God. But first, a few words from our J-Web with an additional tool you can use from here at International Gospel Hour.
SPEAKER 03 :
Jesus, the Lamb of God. Let’s begin, number one, because the Bible said…
SPEAKER 01 :
In Isaiah 53 and verse 7, He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. You see, Jesus in prophecy was this sheep, this lamb that would come forth. In 1 Corinthians 5 and verse 7, Paul said, For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. You think about the Passover in the Old Testament, Exodus 12, of the lamb that would be taken and would be killed for the meal, and how the blood would be shed upon the doorpost and across the beams of the houses. Well, Jesus is our Passover. He is the one sacrificed. He is the lamb that was prophesied would come before his shearers would be silent as we note of his crucifixion and his death. the prophecy and the fulfillment in order that we be delivered, friends, the Lamb of God, for the Bible said. Number two, Jesus the Lamb of God, well, the baptizer, pled. John said once again that he is preferred before me. This we note first of all in John 1 and verse 15, and as we noted moments ago in verses 27 and 30. In other words, Jesus is the one that would be before John or anyone for that matter. You know, friends, no church was ever named after John the Baptist. John the Baptist never intended for there to be any church named after him. He was to lead people and be the forerunner of the Christ. For he said in John 1 and verse 20, I am not the Christ. And so it is clear that John was pointing unto the Messiah, the Christ. This is the Son of God, John said in John 1.34. How clear can that be? Or this is the Son of God. I’ve testified this is the Son of God. John said it. And if we can bank upon the other things that John taught, why not this? Christ is preferred before John, for John said so. Christ is the only Christ, John said so. He is the Lamb of God, John affirmed. He is the Son of God, John said so. And John is not speaking of himself, but of the Lamb, just like the prophets said that he would, Isaiah 40 and verse 3. How about Jesus is the Lamb of God, not only because the Bible said and the baptizer pled, but how about the blood that was shed? In 1 Peter 1 and verse 18, For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. How about the eunuch who was reading Isaiah 53 and verse 7 in the chariot, there in Acts chapter 8, and Philip took that same scripture and preached unto him Jesus, Acts 8, 32-35. We know there is salvation in none other but Jesus Christ, Acts 4 and verse 12. And it was the shedding of his blood for the remission of sins as affirmed in Hebrews 9, 22. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood and without shedding of blood is no remission. Friend, no other sacrifice could accomplish what Christ the Lamb would do for man. And the sin of the world is taken away, and the blood of the Lamb had to be shed, and only Christ could be that perfect Lamb. Okay, friends, Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Bible said, the baptized are pled, the blood shed. How about the book read? The book specifically called the book of life. There are those that will be in the Lamb’s Book of Life, Revelation 21, verse 27. And sadly, there are those that are not in the Lamb’s Book of Life, Revelation 13, verse 8. Both of these texts specifically mention the Lamb’s Book of Life. And it is stating of the Book of Life wherein we find the faithful, Philippians 4, verse 3, and those that overcome sin, Revelation 3, verse 5. Yet we realize, friends, whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire, Revelation 20 and verse 15. Friends, how important is it that we understand that Jesus is the Lamb sacrificed for us and we need to take advantage and to accept the salvation that He gives. The words that are said, the words of the Bible. Men will plead and men have pled to hear those very words. For the Lamb’s blood that was shed for you and for me to have forgiveness. And the book of life will be read and let our names be written there. That’s the beauty of believing in Jesus Christ as He commanded in John 8, 24. to repent of our sins as He commanded in Luke 13, 3, to confess Him before men as He commanded in Matthew 10, verse 32, and to be baptized based upon our faith to be saved as He commanded in Mark 16, 16. And friends, an individual can walk with Jesus from the time they become a Christian for that blood to continue to be in their lives. Friends, Jesus is the Lamb of God, and we need to be obedient unto Him. Now, I’m going to pause and defer to our J-Web, and with one of our Bible studies we offer from International Gospel Hour, and just like all things, it’s free. Here is our J-Web.

Friends, what a beautiful thought of the Lamb of God. The Bible says about the Lamb of God, the baptizer, that is, John the Baptist, pled for the Lamb of God, the blood that was shed from the only Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, and the book that is to be read, the book of life. Friends, it’s so important for us to accept the will of the Father, God Almighty, concerning the Lamb of God, Jesus, whom He sent into this world.
