In this episode, we explore the servanthood journey of Jesus Christ, emphasizing His mission to serve and seek the lost. Reflect on the biblical teachings that illustrate how the Son of Man came to serve humanity and impart salvation. As we navigate these teachings, consider the lessons on repentance, confession, and baptism that lead to a fulfilling spiritual life, underlining the timeless relevance of Christ’s message.
SPEAKER 01 :
It is one thing for a human being to claim to be divine, but it is quite another for such an individual to prove it. Let’s talk about Jesus Christ, the proven Son of Man, today from the International Gospel Hour, back in a moment.
SPEAKER 02 :
It’s time for our broadcast from the International Gospel Hour. I’m Jay Webb, and welcome to our study today as we embrace God’s Word to help us meet the challenges of today. Let’s open our Bibles and open our heart for this time of Bible study with our speaker Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour, a broadcast of the Churches of Christ.
SPEAKER 01 :
Here’s Jeff. Well, thank you to our J-Web and greetings to all of you. As always, it is an honor to have you with us here for our broadcast from the International Gospel Hour. You know, the psalmist said in Psalm 119, 105, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. We hope that the light of God’s word will help lead you in your path today. So we thank you once again for joining us for this study. As we began our broadcast, I shared in part what a fellow laborer shared in an excellent article titled, Jesus’ Claims to Deity. Dave Miller observed, It is one thing for a human being to claim to be divine. Many in history have done so. But it is quite another for such an individual to prove it. Jesus Christ stands out from all other persons who have inhabited the planet in that His claim to divinity actually was proven to be true. I appreciate the words of Brother Miller The Son of Man, that seems to be the preferred title that Christ used Himself about eighty times in Scripture. The phrase, Son of Man, showed His humanity. For example, He was thirsty in John 4, verses 6 and 7, when He stopped there at the well. He is our mediator, but a man as well, 1 Timothy 2 and verse 5. And the phrase son of man shows the divinity. Not merely a son of man like all other descendants of Adam, but the son of man, the man in the highest sense, the ideal, the universal, the absolute man, the second Adam, descended from heaven, the head of a new and superior order of the race, the King of Israel. And that’s written by an individual with the last name of Shaph in the person of Christ, pages 79 and 80. Human and divine. I mean, think about the miracles that Jesus did that none other could do. He had the power over disease. He healed the blind, those taken with palsy. He had the power over death when he raised the daughter of Jairus and the widow of Nain’s son as well as Lazarus. What about the power over demons of whom he sent into swine? The power over material things, how he could change the water to wine, and the power over nature where he stilled the storm on Galilee. So today, friends, may we spend time looking at Jesus, the Son of Man. But first, I mentioned moments ago about Dave and his work at Apologetics Press. Well, here is our Jay Webb with more words about our friends at Apologetics Press.

Jesus Christ, the Son of Man. Consider how the Son of Man served others. For in Mark 10, 45, Jesus said, For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Of course, another word for minister is to serve. And as the Son of Man, the human side of Christ, stands forth, but as one made in the likeness of man, from Philippians 2, 5-11, the humility of Christ stands forth, and how He was able to touch people. From Philippians 2, 5-11, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. but made himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Let me ask you, friends, what appeals more to people, an attitude of servanthood, or an attitude of what will you do for me? Well, which pattern is the best to follow? Christ, obviously, bringing forth this example as the Son of Man who served others. Here’s a second one. The Son of Man sought the lost. Luke 19, 10, For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. How the Son of Man was lifted up for our sins, as Jesus said in John 12, 23, and in verse 32. How the Son of Man, as He walked upon this earth, had the power to forgive sins. Matthew 9, verse 6, and Mark 2, verse 10. And no other man had or has that power. The Son of Man is the head of the church, for He promised it and He built it, Matthew 16, 13-19, and He has all authority as we see in Revelation 1, 13. The Son of Man laid the path for you and I to be saved, friends, for He sought the lost. While upon this earth He taught of the importance of belief, did He not, in John 8, 24? Did He not teach the importance of repentance in Luke 13 and verse 5, and for that to be preached to all nations in Luke 24, 44-47? Did He not teach the power of confessing Him before men in Matthew 10, 32 and 33? Did Jesus also not teach the importance and the necessity of baptism based upon one’s faith in Mark 16 and verse 16, based on the command to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature? Friends, when we think about this, the Son of Man has laid the path for you and I to be saved. Those that are obedient unto God, unto Christ, have been added to His church. And that is where the saved reside in Acts 2.47 as well as Ephesians 5.23-27. So the Son of Man came from heaven, divine yet in humanity, to serve, to seek the lost, and what He said He will do. You see, Jesus has ascended into heaven and is on the right hand of the Father. We saw His ascension in Acts chapter 1, and we note that He is on the right hand of the Father, making intercession for us, Hebrews 1, 1-3, and Hebrews 7, 24-26. And the Son of Man said He would return. He was buried, and He is resurrected, again on the right hand of the Father, Matthew 12, verse 40, and Acts 7, verse 56. But the Son of Man will return, and attention will be granted unto Him. Matthew 25, 31-32 Friend, we would ask this question. Are you ready for the return of the Son of Man? You see, no one knows when Jesus will return and when this old world will end. Nobody knows that. Not even the angels in heaven, but the Father only. Matthew 24, 35. No one knows when Jesus will return. Peter said he would come as a thief in the night in 2 Peter 3. But friends… So many people try to figure out when the Lord will return. Why don’t we figure out being prepared when the Lord returns? I mean, He served others. He sought the lost. He said He would return. The Son of Man came into this earth to grant us what we needed. Friends, what we need is salvation through the Son of Man, salvation through Christ, in whom there is salvation in none other, no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, Acts chapter 4 and verse 12. I want to pause here and defer to our J-Web. We’ve shared with you some good sites and material, but how about our free Bible study course by mail?
