Well, thank you always to our J-Web. Greetings to all of you. Thank you for being with us. And please know we are always honored for each and every one of you that tune in. May you desire and know the truth as noted from John 8, 31 and 32 when Jesus said to those Jews who believed him, If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. You know, such is sought diligently with an honest heart, a desire to know God’s will. Let’s remain in the book of John, as we begin with a reading from John 1, beginning with verse 1 through verse 15. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all through him might believe. He was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of that light. That was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own did not receive him. But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of him, and cried out, saying, This was he of whom I said, He who comes after me is preferred before me, for he was before me. May the Lord bless us with the reading and the hearing and the application of His Word. And from this text of John 1, 1-15, today our study is Jesus, the Word of God. We’ll be back in a few moments.

Jesus Christ, friends, is the Word of God. The Scripture says so in His distinct and superfinite personality. He is one of the Godhead three who came to earth as a man, Emmanuel, God, with us. Matthew 1, verse 23. No other man ever walked the face of the earth as did Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. There has never been one other, never has been, never will be. He is the Word of God who walked among man. No other one had the most intimate communion with the Father. No other man would ever support the claim of being God in the flesh. 1 Timothy 3.16 affirms God was manifest or brought forth and proven in the flesh. Indeed, friends, as Jesus Christ. Let’s consider from John 1.1-15, first of all, that Jesus, the Word of God, the Creator of all, He is eternal. In John 17, verse 5, Jesus said in his prayer, And now, O Father, glorify me together with yourself, with the glory which I had with you before the world was. In John 8, 56-58, Jesus said, Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it and was glad. Then the Jews said to him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham? Jesus said to them, Most assuredly I say to you, before Abraham was, I am. What about Colossians 1, 16 and 17 that says, For by him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things consist. That continues by saying in Colossians 1 and verse 18, And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence. Other texts to consider would be 1 Corinthians 8 and verse 6, and Hebrews 1 verses 8 through 10. Friends, there is no question that the Bible is clear of the Christ being the Creator through whom God created everything. The Word of God. Let’s return to our text of John 1, 1-15 and look at verses 4-9. Jesus, the Word of God, the light of the world. Let’s talk about the use of light concerning the Christ. In Luke 2 and verse 32, early in his life, Simeon took Christ as a child in his arms and declared the Christ a light to lighten the Gentiles. What about in John 8 and verse 12 of this declaration of hope and his guide for the world? Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world. He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Well, friends, how do we follow the Christ? How do we follow that light? He is the word of life, as John declared in 1 John 1 and verse 1. Well, as the word, we must note that his word will judge each of us. For in John 12 and verse 48, Jesus said, He that rejects me and receives not my words has one that will judge him. The word that I have spoken the same will judge him in the last day. So following the word, we need to arise from the dead, Ephesians 5.14, Romans 6.4-6, knowing that Christ will give us light to arise from the dead. For the words of Jesus teaches us the importance of faith in Him. John 8, 24. John 3, verse 16. Mark 16, verse 16. Jesus taught us of the command of repentance in Luke 13, 3 and 5. And said that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24, 44-46. And then we see His command of confessing Him. Matthew 10, 32-33. His command for us to be baptized. Mark 16, verse 16. And Matthew 28, 19-20. A baptism to where we are baptized into His death and raised to walk in newness of life. Romans 6, 4-6. And then, friends… We’re able to walk in the light as He is in the light. 1 John 1 verse 7. You see, the light of the world wants us to follow Him. Oh friends, what a wonderful thought. What a wonderful thought to know that we can obey Him. He is the Creator, the Light of the world. In Jesus and Jesus only will we have salvation, for there is salvation in none other name. No other name given among men whereby we must be saved. Acts 4, verse 12. Let’s think on these things, friends. I’m going to pause at this time, because through our studies, you may be thinking, man, I need to look at this a little bit more carefully. Friends, from John 1, 1-15, let’s note specifically verses 10-15. Jesus, the Word of God, who came to earth as a man. In verse 14, And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Oh, friends, how thankful that we are that Jesus came to earth. He was made flesh. He walked among man, full of grace and truth. He came unto this earth of which through God He was the Creator. He brought the light into the world and came to this earth to teach and instruct us how we should obey the gospel. And then He died the death that you and I might not be saved. How thankful we are for Jesus, the Word of God, and that we have His Word, the Holy Bible, to instruct us of how we should live on this earth. And for that we are thankful, and we give Him the praise, the honor, and the glory. We hope to continue these lessons from time to time, looking at Jesus and how He is described in the Scripture, especially from the Gospel of John.
