SPEAKER 01 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning I’m going to continue sharing with you message number two in a series of messages that I preached in our Victorious Faith services called, What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart? So join me now in our live service for the continuation of message number two in this series, What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart? Do you realize most Christians don’t think about inquiring of the Lord? They just, their life is their life. Well, should I do this? Should I not? Let me see. And then they talk to their spouse about it, talk to their friends about it, and they weigh the pros and the cons, and then they make their plans. And they don’t really seriously or sincerely inquire of the Lord. But if God is first place in your life, and if you call him Lord, Lord means master. That means you do what he tells you to do. And so do you sincerely inquire of the Lord before, especially before any big decision, even a big purchase? You know, God can save you a lot of money from buying the wrong thing, hiring the wrong contractor. I mean, don’t raise your hand. We’ve all done it. We’ve all bought something that we wished we hadn’t, or we’ve gone somewhere we wish we hadn’t, or used a certain company or business to do a job for us. that we wished we hadn’t because they did a bad job. But if we had really been inquiring of the Lord, the Lord would lead us and show us, no, not that one. Not that one. That’s not a good one. Not a good company and not a good business, not a good product, whatever. And we’d save a lot of money if we would inquire of the Lord. So before you make significant purchases or hire a company to do something, whether it’s even just shampoo your carpet, you know, Whatever. Inquire of the Lord. Put it before the Lord. Learn. Remember that he is Lord. Remember that Lord means master and that you seek his will in everything you do. And then we see the next point that I have here was he was then also after he inquired, he obeyed. He was a man who obeyed God. And, you know, we read in 1 Samuel 23, 1 through 4, that he inquired of the Lord. Well, verse 5 says, so David and his men went. Verse 4, David inquired of the Lord. The Lord said, go. And verse 5, David and his men went. He obeyed the Lord when the Lord said, go. And there again, you know, there’s a lot of Christians who don’t obey. I mean, we want to sit in church and think that everybody is good, obedient, totally submissive to God and obedient to God. But do you realize, like I said earlier, most Christians actually go through life without asking God. And many times when God prompts them and nudges them in their heart to do things, they They’re not quick to obey. They’re slow. And they will then say, well, let me talk to my spouse about it. Let me talk to my friends about it. Let’s Google search and see what are the pros and cons. You know what? I was listening to one of my favorite ministers this week, and it’s fresh in my mind. Do you realize… That when you get something in your heart, and you know it’s God, it’s strong, but you procrastinate to act and obey, you then confuse yourself. And if you then start asking other people, Or doing a Google search and looking at all the pros and cons. And you see all these cons against what God put in your heart. You confuse yourself. It doesn’t matter what other people say when God has spoken. And it doesn’t matter if there’s a hundred cons. When God has spoken. Because God can turn those cons around. He can make them into pros instead of cons. He can put blessing and favor on you. When you have got something in your heart. that’s really strong, learn to follow your heart, not just your head. Your head will reason and confuse you. Other people will confuse you. They’ll tell you why it’s not a good idea. Your Google searching can confuse you. People confuse themselves. And then they say, I just don’t know what to do. What am I supposed to do? Oh God, show me what to do. He did. She told you. But you don’t have the faith and the courage to act because you looked at all the negatives or listened to other people talk negative. You confused yourself. You brought fear in. And now you are wondering, what do I do? What do I do? God help me. And God has already shown you the right path. The right thing to do. Learn to follow your heart and be obedient to God. Many, many, many Christians are out of the will of God because they confuse themselves. Because they get something in their heart and then they start asking a whole bunch of people. They start Google searching. And then they confuse themselves and they dull God’s voice by bringing in a whole bunch of other voices. God’s voice was, or not even a voice, but a strong witness, a strong unction, prompting to do something was in their heart. But they diluted it and diluted it and diluted it and watered it down, watered it down, watered it down with a hundred other voices. That then made the voice of God or the unction or the prompting of God too weak for them to confidently follow it. You need to, when you hear from God, learn something from Oral Roberts. Seek the Lord. When you’ve heard from God, inquire no longer with flesh and blood. When you’ve heard from God, when you have something in your heart, you’ve heard from God, inquire no more with flesh and blood. That includes the computer. That includes Google. People put up their opinions and all this facts or fiction, whatever it is. Confirm no more with flesh and blood. Confirm no more with the computer, with searching. When God speaks… That’s it. That’s how you train your spirit to recognize God’s voice loud and clear. Because you are putting down all the other voices. The voices of man, the voices of the computer, the internet searching. You’re putting those down and you’re letting God’s voice be the big voice that you’re following. And that voice will get clearer and clearer and clearer to you. as you follow it. Now, you may make a mistake and you thought, well, I thought that was God. I mean, I’ve done that. Thank God, not very much. Thank God, most of the time when I follow my heart, it’s right on. But I can say, I can think of a few times that I have thought it was God and I followed it and it wasn’t right. Well, guess what? Two things. First of all, I would rather step out in faith thinking I’m obeying God than holding back and being disobedient. I would rather, even if I’m making a mistake, when I step out, I say, God, okay, I think this is you. I’m going to do it. I’m doing it in faith because I’m doing it in obedience, what I believe you’re saying. Well, if you do it in faith, then number two, God can fix it. If you did make a mistake, if it wasn’t God and you thought it was, God can fix it because you did it in faith. But first and foremost, primarily, I would rather step out in faith and obedience than hold back and I don’t know if that’s God or not and be disobedient when it is God. It’s much better to be obedient than be disobedient. And it’s much better to do something that you think is what God’s saying and it’s a mistake, but you’re doing it in obedience, thinking you’re in obedience, than to not act and be disobedient when it is God speaking. So fear is going to hold you back from obeying God. It will be probably the first thing Satan brings your way to stop you From acting and obeying on what God prompts you to do. Fear. Fear. Fear. Fear of what’s going to happen. What if? What if? How are we going to do it? How are we going to pay for it? Who’s going to help us? What if this happens? Fear is the number one thing that stops people from obeying God. And without faith, it’s impossible to please God. And we’re going to get to that in a moment. So it takes faith to be obedient. And if you step out in faith being obedient or thinking you’re obedient, but it was a mistake that wasn’t the Lord, then your faith in action, God can use that faith to make it work or turn things around and make it all come out all right. God can fix it if you’re doing it in faith. But if you’re holding back in fear… you’re displeasing to the Lord. It says we will not shrink back. Those who shrink back displease the Lord. We are not of those who shrink back, but we are those who step out in faith. And so obedience takes faith. Fear will stop you from being obedient. You should make note of that. Fear is the number one thing that will stop you from being obedient. So whenever there’s fear in your heart, you need to check up on why is it there? And did God tell me to do something and I need to step out in faith to be obedient to what God said to do? Well, David was a man who obeyed God. He went when God said go. Psalm 119, 34, give me understanding and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Psalm 119, verse 60, I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. Here’s something else. I will hasten and not delay. Hasten and not delay. You can also say hurry or be quick to obey. Let me challenge you with that. Is delayed obedience, for example, if you have children and they’re sitting watching TV and you tell them, go clean your room. And they sit there for another hour. Is that obedience? No. Delayed obedience is disobedience. Just like when you tell your children go clean their room and they sit and they keep watching cartoons for another hour. That is disobedience. Even if they say, well, I’m going to, I’m going to, I’m going to. Delayed obedience is disobedience. So that’s why David said, I will hasten or I will hurry or I will be quick. And not delay to obey. Because delayed obedience is disobedience. And, as I said earlier, delayed obedience brings confusion to your soul, your mind. Being slow to obey gives the devil all kinds of opportunity to bring in outside influences to bring you to fear, doubt, and procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate. So you say, oh, I’ll do it, I’ll do it, I’ll do it, and then you just never get around to it. What you just heard was the continuation of message number two in a series of messages that I preached in our victorious faith services called What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart. And we will continue this message again tomorrow. So join me again tomorrow and remember God loves you. You are blessed and highly favored by the Lord.
