SPEAKER 02 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victoria’s Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning I’m going to continue sharing with you message number three in a series of messages that I preached in our Victoria’s Faith services called What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart? And I trust these messages are blessing you. So join me now in our live service for the continuation of message number three in this series, What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart? Every time he did wrong, he repented wholeheartedly. And then he said, Lord, keep a clean and pure heart in me, O Lord. And then he had God looking at the heart. A man after God’s own heart. He loved God. And I gave you scripture, Psalm 18, Psalm 116. I love the Lord. I love you, O Lord. And then he loved God’s word. God and his word are one. In the beginning was the word. The word was with God. The word was God, John 1.1. John 1.14, the word became flesh and dwelt among us. If you don’t love the word, the written word, the preached word, then you don’t really love God. There’s a lot of Christians who, with their mouth, they say they love God, but they don’t care anything about the word. Well, you can’t know God without the word. And you can’t love God without loving the word because he and his word are one. And so, for example, Psalm 119.97, Oh, how I love your law. Psalm 119.103, How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth. So I gave you all those scriptures of his love for God’s word. And then he was a man of prayer and fellowship. He called on the Lord. He said, in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I lay my requests before you and I wait in expectation. I go about your altar. I see your face when I awake. I gave you all those scriptures. And then he was a man not only of prayer and fellowship, but he was a man of praise and worship. God loves your praise and your worship. Do you praise him? Some people pray, but they don’t praise. Actually, probably a lot of Christians. They’ll pray because they need things, but they don’t think about praising and worshiping. God loves your praise and worship. And guess what? That draws you into his presence more. What does it say in Psalms 100? You enter his gates with thanksgiving. You enter his courts with praise. And guess what? The inner holy of holies, that’s the place of worship. So if you want to really be in the presence of the Lord, go in by giving thanks and then proceed to praise and then proceed to worship. And you’ll be drawn into the close inner place with the Lord. And so he was a man of praise and worship. Then he was a man who sought the Lord. He said, show me your ways, teach me your paths. And he said, this is what I seek, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord. to seek him in his temple. My heart says, seek his face. I seek you with all my heart. So he sought the Lord. And then he was a man who, as I mentioned before, when he sinned, he repented wholehearted. And then when he repented, he received his forgiveness and righteousness by faith. And that’s the thing, that after you repent, you have to believe you receive forgiveness. Right? I mean, you are forgiven. God forgives you. But a lot of people walk around with condemnation. Condemnation and guilt remain for some people, for a lot of people, after they repent because they have not learned to believe they’re forgiven. They are, but they don’t believe it. David believed it. And he believed he was forgiven, and he believed he was made righteous by faith. And that is where he actually reached into the next dispensation, the New Testament, the church, the born again. We live in the dispensation of righteousness. Righteousness is given to us through the blood of Jesus. David, Abraham, different ones in the old covenant, they reached ahead to our dispensation and they received righteousness by faith. And he took and received his righteousness. Then last week we talked about seeking the Lord’s will. How much do you seek God’s will? So many people just don’t think about God when they make plans. For anything, big or small. They don’t think about asking God. They just make their plans. They talk to their friends, their family, their spouse. And they make their plans according to what they want to do. A lot of Christians never even ask God his will for their life. And you know, it can even be for something simple like your day, what the order of your day is or what you should wear. I mean, it’s a good thing to at least practice some with saying, Lord, what should I wear today? It doesn’t always matter, but, you know, I’ve had it happen where the Lord prompted me to wear something, and I was so thankful I wore it that day. It was the right thing, most appropriate thing for either it was the weather or somebody I was going to meet that I didn’t expect. And I, well, thank you, Lord. You prompted me and drew me to this to wear, and this was the right thing. I needed to wear it today. So God is interested in what you wear, what you eat, where you go, which road you drive to work. You can ask him all those things and then especially, even things about your time off work, what you do in your free time, vacations, and especially about your life path. A lot of Christians don’t think to ask him. He is so unreal to them or so out there, so distant that they don’t bring him in to their decisions. But you should always be seeking the Lord’s will for everything you do, and especially for life decisions. So he sought the Lord’s will. And then the last point we talked about last time was he was a man who obeyed God. He obeyed. I don’t know by any positive number, but I am quite sure that I know a lot of Christians don’t obey. You might think that everybody in church is holy and you look to the side person and the side person and, oh, everybody’s doing everything right. Everybody’s obeying God fully. Actually, probably many of them are either partially or not at all obeying God. Because, not asking, but then I gave you two or three, I think I gave you two, but I’m going to add a third one tonight. Reasons why people don’t obey. Now, okay, let’s say number one reason they don’t even ask. So they’re not paying attention to God’s will. They’re doing their own thing. But then there are times when God makes his will really clear. Put something in your heart strongly that you really believe he is telling you to do. But there are a lot of people who won’t even do those things. Why? Well, one is fear. Fear. It frightens them because, and something we’re going to talk about tonight, well, tonight’s message is to build on this, talking about doing things in faith. A lot of, especially significant things that God tells us to do, even if it’s forgive that person who really, really, really did you wrong. A lot of things God tells us to do, go somewhere, do this, do that, requires faith. And they’re not things for the weak-hearted or the timid or the fearful. And so it requires faith to do it. And people let fear choke them to where they don’t move and they don’t act. A lot of people let fear stop them from obeying what they have in their heart. They’re afraid to go that way. Do it. And so they hold back in fear. And I’ll be talking more about faith momentarily. That’s what we’re going to build on tonight. But another one that I gave you last time is procrastination. That is a biggie because a lot of people won’t say no to God. And this brings up another one. I don’t think I mentioned it last time. Unwillingness. They just plain don’t want to do it. I’ve had the Lord direct me to do things I didn’t want to do. But I made a choice a long time ago. Lord, I’m willing to do your will. There were places on the mission field I didn’t want to go to. Or when I got there, I didn’t want to stay. I’m thinking of at least three places I know of, three or four. When I got there, it was so bad, I wanted to leave immediately. And yet the Lord made it clear in my heart, I called you here. I’m giving you this place as an assignment. And I had the choice to either disobey or obey. I knew that leaving would be disobeying. And I said, okay, Lord, I’m willing to stay. And I stayed. And I remember going into a place. Sometimes places were hard physically, physical conditions. Sometimes places were hard spiritually, spiritually dark, oppressive. even scary. Exactly. And some places were hard relationally. And so I remember one of the places that God had directed me to go to was spiritually very dark, very oppressive. And when I had been there, I just wanted to get out of there. And then when the Lord told me to go back, I didn’t want to. And so I took this scripture and And I put it in the notes here, Psalm 40, verse 8. I desire to do your will. And in the King James, it says, I delight to do your will. And I made that my commitment to God. That when I didn’t like what he was telling me to do, going where he told me to go, Then I chose by faith, Lord, I’m doing this and I’m doing it. I delight to do it. God doesn’t want grudging obedience. I had to keep my heart right before the Lord. And so I prayed that prayer many times. I desire to do your will. In the King James translation, I delight to do your will. Lord, you know I don’t like this place. I delight, though, to do your will. By faith, I delight in this. Oh, praise the Lord. I had to do a lot of things that I didn’t want to do by choosing to delight in it. And so there’s an unwillingness. Sometimes God tells you to do things you just plumb don’t like and don’t want. And that unwillingness, a lot of people will just stop right there. I’m not doing that. They don’t. That’s why a lot of Christians really are in disobedience. They just plumb don’t like and don’t want to do what God told them to do. I don’t want to do that. I am not going there. And they will just not do it. What you just heard was the continuation of message number three in a series of messages that I preached in our victorious faith services called What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart. And we will continue this message again tomorrow. So join me again tomorrow. And remember, God loves you. You are blessed and highly favored by the Lord.
