In this episode of Victorious Faith, Cherri Campbell delves into the concluding message of a series examining what made David a man after God’s own heart. As we explore the bold and courageous faith of David, learn how his unwavering trust in God propelled him to confront giants and take bold actions, becoming an embodiment of faith in action. Listen in to discover how David’s life offers profound lessons on living by faith every single day and not shrinking back in fear or unwillingness.

SPEAKER 01 :
This morning we are going to continue and conclude message number three in a series of messages that I preached in our victorious faith services called What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart. And if you’d like to listen to these messages again in their entirety or share them with your friends and family, which I encourage you to do, you can go to my YouTube channel, which is under my name, Cherri Campbell, C-H-E-R-R-I, Campbell, C-A-M-P-B-E-L-L. And there in the top category called radio broadcasts, you will see this series called What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart. Now join me in our live service for the conclusion of message number three in the series, What Made David a Man After God’s Own Heart. faith to be healed, faith for your children and grandchildren, faith for your job, faith for your needs to be met, faith for financial material provision, faith for protection from danger, whether it’s accidents or violence. Faith to act when God tells you to do things. You’ve got to develop each one of those. And I’ve got other lessons on the YouTube channel specifically about how to develop faith. So I don’t have time right here right now to go into a whole lesson about faith. and how it works. But I’ve talked already a bit about it, even during the offering. I shared with you the word believe to receive. Receive is the Greek word lambano, means to take, to take with the hand, to take to yourself, to take possession of. And so that’s how you believe to receive things. And that’s just a part of it. Go to the YouTube channel. And the YouTube channel is under my name, Cherri Campbell. And there’s radio broadcasts at the top by series title. You can look for the one that is on the Law of Faith. And then down on the page, there is a category of faith messages preached in our services. These are longer messages teaching on faith. Then we see in James 2.18, “…show me your faith without deeds.” And I will show you my faith by what I do. So faith is demonstrated by action. Faith is demonstrated by action. I was trying to read the scripture last time. Hebrews 10, 38 and 39. But my righteous one, or King James, the just, shall live by faith. Now stop right there a minute. Live by. That means it’s a daily way of living. It doesn’t mean you just declare that you have faith when you go to church on Sunday, use your faith to get saved, and declare your faith in church on Sunday. No. Live by faith means it’s 24-7. Faith when you wake up, faith all day long, faith when you go to bed. You do everything by faith. My righteous one or the just shall live by faith. Living is 24-7. And if he shrinks back, okay, think about being obedient when God tells you to do something. And I told you fear and unwillingness are two main things, reasons why people don’t act and obey. Fear or unwillingness. They hold back. They draw back. This says, the just shall live 24-7 by faith. You might even write that in there in your notes, in your scripture. 24-7, live by, means 24-7. And if he shrinks back, if he holds back fear or unwillingness, I will not be pleased with him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed. Notice, you can be destroyed if you hold back. Why? Because as soon as you are in disobedience, you’re out of God’s perfect will. And then you have an open door access to the devil. The devil is given an open door access. You become a target. When you get out of the will of God, you get out of his perfect will, then you’ve opened yourself up to the devil, Satan, and the curse of sin and death. Now you’re a prime target for attack, to steal, kill, and destroy. That’s why we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed. Notice that shrinking back, holding back, fear or unwillingness, We’ll open the door to the curse to come in stealing, killing, and destroying. We are not those who shrink back and are destroyed. We are those who believe and are saved. That word saved actually has the whole huge definition of delivered, protected, made whole, provided for, healed. Saved is everything. We are those who believe and we’re protected from all of that. We’re saved from all of that. We’re healed from sickness. We’re delivered from danger. We are provided for and delivered from lack and shortage. We are those who believe and are saved. Those who shrink back… don’t obey, don’t believe, they’re in fear or unwillingness, they’re opening the door to destruction. Even Christians. That’s why so many Christians have bad things happen to them. I mean, that’s why bad things happen to Christians is what I mean. Because of the open door they give. And it’s not because they would say they hate God. They don’t say that. But it’s because of holding back in fear or unwillingness, not obeying, not staying in faith. And so they shrink back and are destroyed. But we are those who believe and are saved. We act. We go forward. Hallelujah. And so the example, of course, David, he was a man of great exploits. And so, really, you could look at his military career and some of the things he did. My, they were bold, courageous, in faith. He asked the Lord, should I do this? And the Lord said, do it. They went. I mean, even 1 Samuel 23 that we referred to earlier is when the wives and children were all taken captive at Ziklag. And then the Lord said, pursue, overtake, and recover all. He went after them. And yet it was a bigger army than his. So he acted in faith. But the famous story I’ve got here is the prime example, Goliath. I mean, Goliath was a giant, a big, big dude. And I don’t recall. I’ve done this study before, and I’ve read it before. But Goliath was probably, what, 10 or 11 feet tall, 12 maybe. I don’t remember. And so he was a big, giant dude of a man, and he intimidated every man in Israel. Not one was bold enough. to go face him. He frightened even King Saul. 1 Samuel 17, 32-37, David said to Saul, Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine. Your servant will go and fight him. Saul replied, You are not able to go out and fight him. You’re a boy. He’s been a fighting man from his youth. David said, Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it, and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it, and killed it. Can you think of attacking a lion or a bear with your bare hands? Bare hands attacking a bear. Bare hands attacking a lion. Grabbing the lion by the beard and attacking him. Faith. Because he spent his time there in the fields with the sheep. meditating on God’s law, on God’s word, on God’s covenant, God’s promises. He believed it, and therefore he acted. He’s like, God said he would deliver me. I’m not going to be afraid. I can take this bear. I can take this lion. Well, the bear and the lion were practice for the big one, Goliath. Although I don’t know if… It’s probably just as bad. I mean, a lion and a bear are very vicious. So it would have been just as bad. But anyway, he practiced on those. And so when he faced Goliath, and we’re going to look at this passage again later in the next message, this uncircumcised Philistine will be one of them, like one of them. He has defied the armies of the living God. And then he says, “…the Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the bear…” Notice this. I sure hope he delivers me. I just sure hope he does. Is that what he said? What did he say? Well, deliver me. How are so many Christians? Oh, I hope God delivers me out of this. Oh, God, help. Deliver me, deliver me. Oh, I hope God delivers me. Well, they’re not acting like David, that’s for sure. David said, the Lord… That’s actually in Hebrew the word Jehovah. Who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear. What’s the next word? Next three words. Will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. He did not have any doubt. There was no doubt there. There was fearless, confident, boldness. He had faith to act because he had spent time meditating God’s promises, God’s covenant, his promises to deliver, his promises to protect and to keep and care for. And he said, I saw it with the bear. I saw it with the lion. God will deliver me. So many Christians are, God help, please deliver me. I hope you do. I hope. And then you talk to their family and friends. I don’t know, but I sure hope God delivers me. God heals me. God provides and pays our bills. No, he will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said, Saul could see the faith. He could see and hear the faith. And he said to David, go, the Lord be with you. So David was a man after God’s own heart. We’ve looked at several things. His heart was pure and clean. And going back to that, he repented quickly. He loved God. He loved his word. He was a man of prayer and fellowship, man of praise and worship before God. He sought the Lord, seeking him in his temple. And he received his righteousness by faith. And then he sought the Lord’s will, what to do. And then he obeyed, and he obeyed in faith. He acted in faith. Does this describe you? If not, do you want to make a determination to the Lord, Lord, I want to be like David. I want to be this kind of a man or a woman who does this, who lives this way, who has this heart before you. And so let’s all pray. And if this is your prayer, say it in your heart. Not out loud. Father, we thank you and praise you. You are so good. You are so faithful. You are so righteous and holy. You also help us so graciously, mercifully. You’re so patient with us. And Lord, we’re looking at David and characteristics of his life. And I’m not ignoring the fact that he did commit some humongous, huge sins. But he did quickly repent. And he was not perfect, but none of us are perfect. And that actually gives us great hope. Because even though he made some big mistakes, he repented. kept his heart right. And then he was the man who sought you, your will and obeyed you and acted in faith. And Lord, we believe we can do the same thing. What you just heard was the conclusion of message number three in a series of messages that I preached in our victorious faith services called what made David a man after God’s own heart. And we will begin message number four, the last and final message tomorrow. So join me again tomorrow and remember God loves you. You are blessed and highly favored by the Lord.
