SPEAKER 02 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherri Campbell. This morning I’m going to continue sharing with you message two that I began sharing with you yesterday that I preached in our Victorious Faith services called Who is the Holy Spirit? And this is message two in that series. So join me now in our live service for the continuation of this message. Who is the Holy Spirit? Part two. He said, I set before you today life and death, blessing and cursing. You choose. He says, this is the path I have for you. Many go off on a different path. They don’t want his path. He gave every human being free choice. And you can choose his path or not. Sin is rebellion. Sin is disobedience, doing what he told you not to do. So the very fact that sin exists proves that God is not controlling people. Every time you sin, it was your choice, not God’s, to sin. Whether it was sinning with your mouth, sinning with your mind, sinning with your actions, whatever the sin was, it was your choice. God didn’t make you sin. It’s because you are a free agent. You are a free agent. Now, you do have a Lord, either Satan or God. It’s who you submit to because every time you sin, you are submitting to the devil. Satan, you’re submitting to Satan. Every time you sin, you’re submitting to Satan. And you’re making him your Lord and master and ruler, at least for that moment when you sin. Because he’s the one who’s tempting you. Temptation comes from Satan. When you sin, you’ve yielded to him. So you’ve let him be your Lord and master and ruler. But when you obey God, you’re making him your Lord, master, and ruler. And sadly, we can make the devil or God our Lord and master at various times throughout the day. Because at one time we’re obeying God, honoring God with our heart and our mouth and our lips and our mind and our actions. But then we yield to temptation. We get angry, say things we shouldn’t say. Then at that moment, we’ve let the devil master us, rule us, control us when we have submitted to that temptation. But we are all free agents and we all have the choice at every moment. So don’t say I can’t help but sin. Yes, you can, because God gave you a free will and a free choice. So you have the choice to follow God and follow his path or not. But God knows in advance ahead of time what path you will choose. His foreknowledge is not predestination. So I’m just going back to that point again. God did not predestine some people to be saved and go to heaven and some people to be lost and go to hell. No, we are actually all chosen to go to heaven. But then some people don’t accept God’s choice. Some people don’t accept God’s choice. Everybody is chosen by God to go to heaven, to be his child. But some people don’t accept God’s choice. They make a different choice, the devil’s choice. So actually, we are all predestined to serve God, but we’re not all doing it because God also knew in advance who would reject him and who would serve him. So foreknowledge is not predestination. He just knew. He just knew. All right. So we all have a sense of purpose. We have to find that purpose. God has a plan for our lives. And then another description or characteristic of a person is a person is part of a culturally established form of social relations. A form of social relations. So we have family, parents, siblings, spouse, children. And in that family network, we have social relations. We have friendships. We have work relationships. And we also even have ownership of property. We have the ability to own property. These are things that differ. that distinguish, I should say, us from animals, but not only that, us from angels. Because angels, I don’t know that they have social relationships. I mean, I’m sure they don’t have family. I expect they can kind of be friends with one another and get along with each other, but I don’t know that they’re really in a culturally established social form. I don’t even know that that exists. We’ll learn more about that. But we do know they do not have ownership of anything. They are servants. They don’t have ownership of anything. And the final characteristic here, and most people don’t even know this, is that God gave people spiritual authority. Spiritual authority. We have authority over ourselves, number one, and then our possessions also, what we own. And then in circles or degrees, outward concentric circles, in my teaching of spiritual authority, the law of spiritual authority, I go into that. We have less authority the more those concentric circles go outward. And the farther distant we are related or touching something, the less authority we have there. But you’ll need to study that in the Law of Spiritual Authority series. But we have spiritual authority. That is one of the things that we are created in God’s image. In Genesis 1.26, God said, Let us make man in our image and our likeness and let them rule. Have dominion. So that puts us, that is why we are sons of God. We are in God’s class because he gave us spiritual authority to rule. And I have a whole six-month series on that. Now, so those are characteristics of a person. Now we’re back to the study of the person of the Holy Spirit. The person of the Holy Spirit. And so, first of all, you know, mind, will, and emotions. The Holy Spirit has intelligence. He is very intelligent. Now, I didn’t even put this in here, but in Genesis 1, he was involved in creation. You can add that in. Genesis 1 says in verse 2 that the Holy Spirit hovered over the deep. And so he was the active energy force in creation. We might mention that again later in the actions and the miracles of the Spirit. But here we’re talking about the intelligence of the Holy Spirit. And in 1 Corinthians 2, verses 9 through 12, however, as it is written, no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. But a lot of people say, see, nobody knows. Don’t stop reading. The next word is but. There’s a contrast. But God has revealed it to us. We’re not stuck not knowing. We’re not stuck there. No, God has revealed it to us. How? By his spirit. The spirit searches all things. That’s intelligence. Even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world, but the spirit who, there’s a personal pronoun, who is from God. That we may understand what God has freely given us. See, we’re supposed to know. Verse 9, no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. But God has given us his spirit. And the end of verse 12, that we may understand what God has freely given us. So he has given us the Holy Spirit so we may understand. what God has freely given us and all the thoughts of God. But the Holy Spirit is intelligent. 1 Corinthians 12, verses 8 and 10. To one, these are the manifestations of the Spirit, also most often called the gifts of the Spirit. Verse 8, to one there is given through the Spirit the message or the word of wisdom. To another, the message or the word of knowledge by means of the same Spirit. Verse 10, to another, discerning of spirits. I just named these three of the nine because these are gifts of intelligence. Gifts of intelligence. And then in Isaiah 11, verse 2, it gives six descriptions of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord. Six descriptions, and four of them are intellectual. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him. And then these are descriptions. The Spirit of wisdom… and of understanding, the spirit of counsel and of power, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Wisdom, understanding, counsel, and knowledge are all intellectual or intelligence. And then Ephesians 1, 17, I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better. And then the Holy Spirit also has emotions and feelings. We’re talking about the descriptions of a person and characteristics of a person. Likewise, similarly, the Holy Spirit is a person. The fruit of the Spirit, many of the fruits of the Spirit have to do with emotions and personality and characteristics of intelligence and will as well. the soul. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace. Those are emotional or they very greatly affect the emotions. Patience, that’s character and affects your emotions. Kindness, goodness, faithfulness, that’s character. Gentleness, that’s character. Self-control, that’s the will controlling one’s actions. Self-control. Now, as Christians, we are all supposed to develop in these. But the Holy Spirit himself is perfect. Perfect in every one of these. And so we see these are similar to what we have against such thing. There is no law. And we see that the Holy Spirit loves in Romans 1530. I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the spirit, by the love of the spirit, by the love of the spirit. to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Now, he was encouraging the church at Rome to uphold him in prayer because he was going through the trials, sometimes in prison and various things. But the point here is by the love of the Spirit. Praise the Lord. And the Holy Spirit has joy. 1 Thessalonians 1, 6. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction with the joy of the Holy Spirit. The joy of the Holy Spirit. What you just heard was the continuation of part two that I preached in a series of messages in our victorious faith services called Who is the Holy Spirit? And we will continue this message again tomorrow. So join me again tomorrow. And remember, God loves you. You are blessed and highly favored by the Lord.
