And again, friends, everything that we offer from International Gospel Hour is absolutely free. We hope you’ll enjoy your reading of the Gospel Gleaner at GospelGleaner.com. Subscribe today. We began our last psalm cast with Psalm 7. We dealt with the first ten verses. If you would like to hear that broadcast, it is available through various podcast platforms and at our website at internationalgospelhour.com. And we dealt with the first ten verses to where in verses 1 through 5 we saw David’s call and his confession. his call upon God to deliver and to help him, and his confession of sin that would be on his hands or anything that he had done in context as the king. If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me or plundered my enemy without cause, Then David said, let them take my life, because I was wrong. And he made his confession unto God, and he humbled himself in this prayer. In verses 6 through 10, we learn of David’s commitment and his conviction. What we’re going to do is we’re going to read verses 6 through 10, elaborate a little more of what we failed to do previous broadcast, and then press onward with the rest of the psalm. Psalm 7, verses 6 through 10. Arise, O Lord, in your anger. Lift yourself up because of the rage of my enemies. Rise up for me to the judgment you have commanded me. So the congregation of the peoples shall surround you for their sakes. Therefore return on high. The Lord shall judge the peoples. Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to my integrity within me. O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just, for the righteous God test the hearts and minds. My defense is of God, who saves the upright in heart. Again we come to this part of David’s prayer, this psalm, where we see his commitment and his conviction. He is committed to the Lord. He sees the conviction of others who are against God. But within this, he builds off that Selah from verse 5 to where they are to reflect. But now he also wants them to know that as the congregation, the just, the upright, that God is for his people. In 1 Peter 3, beginning with verse 12, For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. In verse 13, going through verse 15, And who is he who will harm you, if you become followers of that which is good? But do not be afraid. I’m sorry. Let me begin again. Let me go back to verse 12. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. Well, friends, we are reminded that for the Christian, the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous. God hears their prayers. God hears the prayers of the righteous. And then he says, Who is he who will harm you if you follow that which is good? If you suffer for righteousness’ sake, that’s a good thing. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be troubled. But rather, when those things come upon us, then we are reminded to make certain we have our commitment and we see the conviction that is right. Notice, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. That means set apart God in your hearts. To the Christian, we have God set apart in our hearts. And if God is set apart in our hearts, there’s no room for the trouble, for the problems. We just keep fighting those troubles ourselves. And be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. Friends, you’re able to give an answer. And we need to be able, with our commitment to God, to give an answer. Friend, are you truly committed to God? If someone asked you to give an answer about your hope in your life, would it be a biblical hope or would it be a false hope? I bring this challenge to you, friends, because as like David earlier in the psalm, and as we see here, we need to make certain that we are right. We are blessed to offer from International Gospel Hour a number of study materials. I want to pause here, defer to our J-Web. Friends, you’ve got to try the God and Man study. SPEAKER 01 :
And now, friends, Psalm 7, verses 11 through 16. God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day. If he does not turn back, he will sharpen his sword. He bends his bow and makes it ready. He also prepares for himself instruments of death. He makes his arrows into fiery shafts. Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity. Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood. He made a pit and dug it out and has fallen into the ditch which he made. His trouble shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown. This part of David’s prayer is conclusion of the conception that is there. For example, The Lord conceives revenge upon the wicked. That’s verses 11 through 13. For the wicked conceives trouble, verses 14 through 16. The bottom line, David’s conclusion, the wicked will not win. He has his call and his confession unto God, his commitment, the conviction therein, and his conclusion therein. The Lord will conceive that revenge upon the wicked, because the wicked conceives trouble. The wicked will not win. Galatians 6, 7, and 8 says, Do not be deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Friends, David’s power of his prayer, his plea is unto God as his child. And friends, David’s conclusion here was the conception therein. The Lord conceives revenge upon the wicked. The wicked conceives trouble which brings it upon them. How would David conclude this study, this psalm, if you will? The same way that we will. Verse 17. I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Here is David’s continuity from it all. He’s going to stay with the Lord. his call upon the Lord in prayer and confession of any wrong, renewed his commitment and conviction and continuity in serving the Lord. Friends, maybe we need to stay with the Lord. There’s no maybe there. Maybe we need to make things right to stay with the Lord if we need to do that very thing. Friends, when you look at this psalm in its simple outline, it’s written to those who follow Christ. And we call upon Him. We confess our wrongs. We have a commitment. There is a conviction that God has to us. And the conclusion of conception is what God will do in holding off and putting off and destroying the wicked. God will never forget His people. Friend, do you need to become a, if you will, a people of God? Do you need to respond to the Lord? We hope that the Bible study course that we shared with you, God and Man, will help you toward that end. We love to challenge all of our listeners. Think about what you hear. Think about what you look. Think about what you hear and see, and then look upon the Word of God for your study. To search the Scriptures daily as they did in Thessalonica or in Berea in Acts 17, verse 11. We love to search the Scriptures together, and we hope that we are helping you on your journey for God. But allow Him to lead, always. Thank you for joining me today for this study. We’ll continue at another time. And again, the first part of Psalm 7 is available at our website, internationalgospelhour.com. Thanks for joining me today. I’m Jeff Archie, and friends, keep listening.
