In this insightful episode of Discovering the Jewish Jesus, Rabbi Schneider and Dustin navigate the challenging waters of sexual identity confusion and gay revisionist theology in the context of Paul’s teachings in Romans. They discuss how societal norms are shifting and how these changes contrast with biblical truths. This conversation is crucial for anyone seeking to understand the foundations of modern debates on identity and Christianity. The episode dives deep into the philosophies that are reshaping the church and society, urging listeners to reconsider the statements about what is ‘natural’ according to scripture. Listen as Rabbi Schneider offers a

I think we need to share the truth in love. I think the first thing they need to hear is not that God is judging them. I think what they need to hear first is God loves them. God loves them.

SPEAKER 02 :
Thank you, my brother. This is really so interesting to me because what we’re seeing happening in the world right now with the confusion regarding sexual identity and same-sex attractions and homosexual unions, this was written about by Paul, who we call in Hebrew Shaul. That’s Paul’s Hebrew name. 2,000 years ago, and Paul told us exactly why this sexual identity confusion and why these homosexual relationships are springing up, popping up like popcorn right now. Paul told us when he wrote the book of Romans that the reason for this is because man’s fellowship with God was broken. That’s why we can’t fix the problems that we’re having today by helping people transition to become a woman when they’re born a man, or vice versa. Nor can we solve the problem by blessing homosexual unions, even as some Christian denominations are doing right now, because the answer isn’t to bless and say what is wrong is right, but the answer is to go back and understand why it’s happening and what the remedy is. Right. So Paul tells us here in Romans 1 that the reason that mankind has fallen into the trap of blurred sexual distinction is because of sin. And Paul says that as man began to suppress the truth in Romans 1 and unrighteousness, God gave man over to degrading passions. So if we suppress the truth, What the Scripture tells us is that God gives us over to a lie. That sounds hard, but Paul wrote about this in one of his other epistles. Paul said that those that did not receive the love of the truth would be given over to a lie, that God would send on them a deluding spirit Paul said, that those that did not receive the love of the truth would be judged. And so we see this happening today, and it almost seems like those that are taking this role of being outwardly gay or outwardly transgender, they’re actually given extra bonus points, especially by judges that are judging the competition because they are gay. So it’s just like we’re championing this today. You know, Paul said here, professing to be wise… They became fools. And so we’re celebrating this thing today thinking that we’re wise because we are inclusive. Paul said it’s foolishness. And one of the things that’s going on right now in the realm of this whole deception—again, Paul says professing to be wise, they became fools— is that there’s this theology that’s gaining momentum. As you alluded to, Dustin, in the beginning of the broadcast today, it’s called gay revisionist theology. And when I began to read about this, it was so defiled. It was so degraded. Paul actually uses the word here in verse 26, degrading. He uses that word. It’s so degraded that it’s just mind-boggling. So what Paul is saying here in Romans 1 is that because men suppress the truth, God gave man over to degrading passions. And he begins to explain what these degrading passions are. In verse number 26, he says, “…for this reason God gave them over to degrading passions, for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire towards one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.” So what Paul is describing here is that it’s natural, right, for a man and woman to be together. A woman’s function is to have children and to be knitted with a man. Simple anatomy tells us that the anatomy of a man and a woman fit together like a puzzle. The anatomy of a man and a man… repel each other in a magnetic force. You take two negative poles and they push each other away, two positive poles and they push each other away, but a negative and a positive will attract to each other. But, of course, this is something that has been greatly perverted today. So I’m making the point, Dustin, and my listening audience today, that Paul is speaking here about the natural relationship that is in creation by which a man and a woman come together. They can procreate. They’re made to go together physically by simple anatomy. But instead, because mankind is separated from God and has become defiled in their mind and lost in their way and broken in their character, we have this craziness and this chaos going on where the natural function of the relationship between man and woman is being abandoned for homosexuality. Those that are in the movement that are in rebellion against God and they’re not even wanting to get out, but rather they’re trying to say what they’re doing is right, what they’ve done is they’ve rewritten the Word of God. So they’ve taken Paul’s words here that men and women have exchanged the natural function of being in union with each other. Yeah. And they’re saying that the word natural there doesn’t refer to a man and a woman coming together the way God designed it. God defines what’s natural. God says what is natural is a man is to be with a woman and vice versa. He made them male and female. He made them male and female. In the beginning. Exactly. But what gay revisionist theology is saying is what God means here by natural in Romans 1, they’re saying, is what is natural to the men. So they’re saying if you’re born with homosexual inclinations with same-sex attraction, that’s what’s natural to you. So that’s okay because it feels right to you. Exactly. Now, they would say it was a sin if you were born with a natural affection towards woman as a man, but you decided to forsake what was natural to you because you thought it was cool to start living a homosexual lifestyle. Then they say you’d be in sin. But they defined us, and just as you said, the word natural, as Paul relates it here in Romans 1, not on the basis of God’s creative order of, as you said, he created them male and female, and by the simple anatomy structure of men and women about the ability that men and women can propagate together. So this is natural, but they’re not defining it by God’s use of the word natural. but they’re defining it by, as you just said, how they feel.
SPEAKER 03 :
This is exactly what you were talking about when you were reading just a couple verses up of how they exchanged the truth of God for a lie so they could go after their own lusts.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, it’s insanity what’s going on.
SPEAKER 03 :
And Rabbi, you know, today I think about my children because this is so rampant. When I was in school, I’m 40 years old. When I was in school, it was still not really acceptable to be living a homosexual lifestyle by most people. But now my children in high school It has gotten so bad. If you don’t accept people who are in this lifestyle, you’re marginalized and ostracized for not accepting these people because we have to accept everybody. And that’s become the God of accepting everybody as the highest form of moral clarity. And I actually moved one of my kids. It got so hard for them. We moved them out of the school, Rabbi, into a private Christian school. Mm-hmm. It’s a major issue in our society today.
SPEAKER 02 :
We need help. Oh, my gosh. And think of all the kids growing up right now that aren’t secure in themselves, are still growing, they’re still developing, and they’re exposed to all this homosexuality, all the pressure. And how all of a sudden maybe they start, you know, questioning themselves. Maybe I’m gay. Maybe they think, well, you know, I’m going to experiment with it. And the breakdown of society that’s being created and it’s going to keep on spiraling downward at a quicker and quicker, more rapid rate. And there’s going to be left in the wake of all this complete destruction.
SPEAKER 03 :
My youngest daughter in sixth grade, her friend was texting her and telling my youngest daughter that she was bisexual. Said, you’re bisexual. And thankfully, we were monitoring the type of text and info on my daughter’s phone. But we literally, we sat her down and we had to have a talk about this. I mean, this is sixth grade. They’re being inundated with it. Even the teachers are talking about this stuff and curriculum is changing and so forth. What do we do as Christians living in this society like Paul’s talking to these Romans? How do we respond to this situation?
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah. Yeah. Well, first of all, praise God for families where there’s still a relationship between the parents and the children to be able to strengthen our children and to speak life to them and to speak boundaries to them and to bring understanding and to strengthen them in the Lord, to nurture our children, the Scripture says, in the admonition of the Lord. And you just think about it. I’m just thinking, Dustin, about what you shared and the evilness of it. But you think about it. If there’s somebody that’s struggling with their own sexual identity, what are they going to most likely do? They’re going to put their own struggle. They’re going to project their own sexual identity confusion. They’re going to project that upon their other friends. So now you’ve got somebody that’s struggling with sexual identity confusion, and they’re in a friendship with somebody that’s not, but the one that’s struggling with sexual identity confusion begins to put on their friend that was not struggling with sexual identity confusion that same issue. And now the one that it didn’t even occur to their mind Now they’re all of a sudden wondering, well, maybe I am. Maybe I need to start thinking about this. And it’s just the way the devil is wreaking havoc right now. It’s just, it’s so destructive. There’s no words to describe the horrendous… outpouring of mass evil that’s on the earth today.
SPEAKER 03 :
We need God and we need His Word to be our truth and guidance. And before we continue with the second part of this conversation, thank you so much for tuning in to Discovering the Jewish Jesus today. If the Lord’s leading you to support this ministry, would you give a gift of any amount online at discoveringthejewishjesus.com? That’s discoveringthejewishjesus.com. And now, Rabbi, back to this in-depth conversation here.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, you know, the Bible says that Jesus lighteneth every man that comes into the world. He gives light to everybody that’s birthed into the earth. The scripture also says, let God be true and every man a liar. So picking up on where we were earlier in our discussion, I’m looking here at the last verse in chapter 1, verse number 32. And it says, and although they knew the ordinance of God, and that those who practice such things are worthy of death. So I just want to break by saying that what the Word of God is saying here regarding truth, regarding the issues of sexual identity and homosexuality that we have been discussing, and we’re not, by the way, just talking about homosexuality. It’s part of a larger discussion, but Paul actually hits on this in Romans 1. What the Word of God is actually teaching is that deep inside Everybody knows the truth. In other words, even somebody that was born with same-sex attraction, and it’s been natural to them their whole life because that’s all they’ve ever known, deep down inside, they know that something is not right. That’s what Paul is saying. They know, deep down inside they know, that every person that comes into the world receives light. And so listen what happens next here. And although they knew the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, listen to this. They not only do the same, but listen to this, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. That’s what you were just talking about. This is our society right now. We’re giving hearty approval to the whole LGBTQ movement, and even believers are doing it more and more. more and more, making allowance for it, afraid to take a stand. Afraid to take a stand that it’s not right, that it’s wrong because of the rejection that they’re going to personally experience by taking a stand and because they have been broken down by the pressure of compromise So now they’re saying, okay, it’s right. Okay, it’s right. God loves everybody. I’m not going to comment on that. And I guess the last comment that I would make on this is that we can complain a lot today as Christians about cancel culture. It’s true. We’re experiencing tremendous cancel culture. But let me ask you, my beloved listener today, how many of you are canceling yourself?
SPEAKER 03 :
Wow, Rabbi, I identify with that because I remember you preaching and teaching on this and talking about how we have to take a stand. And I just remember personally, even myself, maybe you’re listening today and you can identify with this. I believed, you know, the Bible. I stood for the truth of the Bible. But this wasn’t a subject that I actively discussed with people. And if I knew someone was in this lifestyle, I didn’t really bring it up with them or talk target them to talk about it in any way, shape, or form, or even with friends who believed that it was okay. It wasn’t a discussion I had because I knew it was divisive. And I didn’t want divisiveness to come in. And I thought I could be a better witness by just sharing with them. But what I’ve learned from you and what I’ve learned through all of this is I was making the mistake because I wasn’t standing up for the truth. Jesus said, like, be as wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. He was basically saying, like, if you share the gospel, you’ve got to do it with wisdom. And then he was also saying, though, but share it. Right. don’t be afraid to share it. Don’t just be silent. And I was silent and not addressing things. And so if I hear it again today, if anything, we’ve got to stand up and actually speak out before everyone else speaks out and there’s nothing, there’s no truth to speak for anymore.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, I think when it comes to sharing this truth that we’re discussing today, with other believers that are not involved in a homosexual lifestyle or suffering with identity confusion sexually. I think we very much can do it in a way that is informational, like we’ve talked about today. You know, that it’s just simply, this is the written Word of God. Either we’re going to receive it or we’re going to discard it. I think that it’s easy to make a case with other believers that are really hungry for the truth. But I think when it comes to sharing the things, Dustin, that we’ve talked about today with people that are in that lifestyle, in an LGBTQ lifestyle, I think what they need to hear is love. I think we need to share the truth in love. I think the first thing they need to hear is not that God is judging them. I think what they need to hear first is God loves them. God loves them. And he wants to help you right where you’re at. God wants to help you. God loves you. And the road that many are traveling down is not going to bring health. It’s not going to bring healing. It’s not going to bring my dear friend that may be listening right now that is struggling with these very issues. The road to letting yourself go the way of our culture today will not bring you the wholeness and the healing that you’re looking for. But Jesus came to save us. from our sin. And the Bible speaks of sin, and when we hear that word today, sin, it’s like a dinosaur word to our culture. Like people, when they hear the word sin, most people have an emotional reaction to it. Like they think sin is some kind of old-fashioned word that religious zealots used, that ignorant people used. They don’t really understand that sin is as modern of a word as any word can be today because sin is simply when the movement of our soul is going a different direction than the movement of God’s Spirit. I mean, there are many definitions of sin. If you look at the etymology of the word, it means that we missed the mark, we missed the target. But to bring it to a level that hopefully our listeners can understand today, if God is going one direction, if the movement of His Spirit, if His energy, the word today would be His vibe, if His vibe is one way, And our vibe is a different direction than his vibe. A separation in relationship takes place because he’s going one way and we’re going a different way. And if we’re going a different way and we begin to celebrate our way and say that our way’s right and harden ourself against his way and say, you’re wrong to God, I’m going to go my way, it’s just going to bring us further and further into darkness and we’re going to end up dying in darkness, in eternal separation from God. So what Yeshua is saying to us is repent of your sin. Again, sin, what is it? You’re going a different direction than the Lord’s going. Jesus is saying, turn to me. I’m going to save you from yourself. I’m going to heal your brokenness. I’m going to repair your soul. I’m going to bring you into my peace, and you’re going to be blessed forever in the Godhead.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. Someone could be listening right now, Rabbi, and they’re saying, you know what? I am struggling. Would you just lead them in prayer, Rabbi? And maybe even pray, too, for people who have family members who need God’s wisdom in this situation.
SPEAKER 02 :
Absolutely. And let me first of all say, beloved friends, today that I’m not promising a quick fix here. But what I am saying is that what I’m teaching, it’s the truth. And if you will continue to cling to Jesus and keep on moving towards him and keep on crying out to him in desperation every single day, even if you fail at times, just keep coming back, keep crying out, keep praying and mean it. He is going to deliver you from your sin. He was named Yeshua because it means Yahweh saves. He shall save his people from their sins. So, Father God, in Yeshua’s name, and you might want to just even repeat after me if you’re struggling right now. Father God, in Jesus’ name, I humble myself before you. I ask you, Jesus, to come and live inside me and deliver me from darkness, deliver me from sin, and deliver me from evil. In Jesus’ name, just keep praying that prayer over and over and over again. He will come through for you, beloved. He will come through. I love you today. Jesus saves. He’s faithful to his word. He’ll do what he said he would do. and i just bless you today keep calling out to him he will not fail you if you’re being blessed by the broadcast today just want to encourage you if you feel the holy spirit knocking at the door of your heart to financially support us just be obedient dustin’s going to tell you how to do that in just a second god always blesses us he said given will be given back to you press down good measure and running over into your lap One of the ways that we can be drawn closer to God and be brought into a greater relationship with him is by honoring him with our tithes and financial sacrifices because we’re surrendering to him when we do that. It costs us something and it creates an open door for him to come in and live inside us. Until next time, beloved, God bless you and shalom.
