Welcome to Seeds of Revelation, a short devotional presented by Rabbi Schneider, a Jewish believer in Jesus, the Messiah. Do you understand your calling? Many times people talk about calling, and I’ve heard pastors teach that if you don’t know your calling, then you’ll never have an identity. And then they talk about the callings of a pastor or a teacher or an evangelist or what spiritual gift you have. And they say, that’s your calling. And unless you know what your calling is, you’ll never have an identity. But beloved, that is so shallow. Our calling goes beyond what we do in terms of our ministry. Our calling is that we’re called to be conformed to the image of Jesus. Our calling is that we’re coming to God the Father. Our calling is that we’re going to heaven. Paul prayed in Ephesians 1.18 that we would have revelation, that our heart would be enlightened so that we would know what is the hope of our calling. He wasn’t referring to whether you’re an evangelist or a pastor or a teacher or the gift of helps. He was talking about our eternal calling. He was talking about understanding who we are to the Father and where we’re going in Him. Everything else is going to pass away. Only love, faith, and hope, and our identity as sons and daughters of God will remain. This is our calling, beloved. Let’s think straight about what is really important.
