In this gripping episode, we dive deep into the fascination with miracles and the supernatural, exploring the discrepancies between modern-day wonders and biblical miracles. Join David Hawking as he unveils the truths hidden within Revelation Chapter 6, shedding light on the Four Horsemen and the ominous implications of their arrival. It’s a powerful reminder of the approaching tribulation and the urgent need for salvation.
SPEAKER 03 :
Can you believe the interest in the miraculous and supernatural? Even among the unbelievers, the apparitions and all these reported sightings of miraculous things. Even in our Christian world, we have all kinds of wacko teachers who are bringing before us miracles that in fact are not the miracles of the Bible. You say, well, some of them are working good, you know. They’re really happening. When God does something, he does it real good. You know that? He does it so good, you don’t even know you were sick. There’s no evidence of a scratch or a pain. Nothing. It’s cleared up. When God heals, he heals. God doesn’t do partial surgery. God doesn’t do partial dentistry either. But the devil does.
SPEAKER 01 :
It’s a blessing to have you with us for Hope for Today with Bible teacher and author David Hawking. Revelation chapter 6 reveals four horsemen riding out, conquest, war, famine, and death spreading across the earth. It’s a sobering glimpse of what’s coming when God’s judgment finally falls. It reminds those who don’t yet know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that the time to turn to him is right now, before that day arrives. We’ll open your Bible to Revelation 6, 1 through 8, because day two of David’s message, the four horsemen, is coming up next. Before David begins, a quick word about a book that hits like a prophetic wake-up call. David Hawking’s Visions of the Future takes you through Zechariah, eye-opening prophecies, explosive visions, and a clear look at where history is headed. It’s not theory. It’s God’s plan unfolding right now. And Visions of the Future is just $15. And you can order your copy by calling us at 800-75-BIBLE in the U.S. or 888-75-BIBLE in Canada. Bible is 24253. SPEAKER 03 :
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder, one of the four bees saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he that sat on him had a bow, and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red. And power was given to him that sat on it to take peace from the earth and that they should kill one another. And there was given unto him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third bee say, Come and see. And I beheld in low a black horse, and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four bees say, A measure of wheat for a penny or a denarius, and three measures of barley for a denarius, and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell or Hades followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with sword and with hunger and with death and with the beasts of the earth. The whole tribulation period is contained in a seven-sealed book or scroll. The seals are on the top, on the edges. So when you break one, you can unravel it a little ways and read something. When you break number two, unravel and read something. When you come to the seventh seal, that’s most of the message. Most of the scroll unravels in the seventh seal. The others kind of go quickly. When you come to the seventh seal, that message contains seven trumpet judgments. The seventh trumpet will sound over the entire last three and a half years of the tribulation. And during the sounding of the seventh trumpet… One of the messages contained in the seventh seal. During the sounding of the seventh trumpet, you have the seven last plagues, which are called the bowls or vials of wrath, which are poured out upon the earth. So the great tribulation begins with opening of the seals. We start with the description of what happens when one of the seals was opened by the Lamb of God. The description of what happens is, to me, very interesting. When the Lamb breaks one of the seals, you have the thundering of God Almighty’s voice, and one of the worship leaders of heaven, one of the four cherubim, the living creatures or beasts, says, come and see. The second thing I want you to notice is the deception. the deception that will introduce the judgments of the tribulation period. The Bible warns us not to be deceived, but it also tells us, Jesus said, that there is going to be great deception. He said, take heed that no one deceive you. But the whole thing opens up with deception. Verse 2, I saw and behold a white horse, and he that sat on him had a bow, and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth conquering and to conquer. Now we need to talk about two issues really. One is the identity of the one on the white horse. Who is the one that sits on him? It’s definitely a person. He who sat on the horse. And I want to give you four things about that, the identity of this one on the white horse. I quickly scanned all my commentaries on Revelation, and I have more than I really should have purchased. And most of them aren’t worth a dime. That’s true. A lot of people just give in their own opinions, and they don’t really study the Bible. But there’s a number of them that are excellent, and there are a number of good commentaries on Revelation in the bookstore. But as we look at those commentaries, we notice a disagreement on the identity of the one on the white horse. There are many who say this is Jesus and that it’s a type of the rapture. And because he is on the white horse in Revelation 19, verse 11, when he comes at the end of the tribulation, he’s on a white horse. Several post-tribulationists will also use this to convince us that it is simply talking about that event and kind of a prelude to it. Well, I want to start out by saying that it is not Jesus Christ, even though he does come on a white horse in Revelation 19. Now, how do I know that? Well, there are at least three reasons, if not more, but here’s at least three. One, he’s the one who opens the seals, not the one who is riding the horse. Interesting, verse 1 clarifies the lamb opened one of the seals, and out of that message comes the white horse. The second thing that I think hits me is that the remaining seals clearly deal with judgment and tragedy, not the blessing of the second coming. When God describes the second coming of Christ for the believer, it is a blessing. The dead in Christ will rise first. We are alive and remain. We’ll be caught up to meet them in the air. And so shall we ever live with the Lord. We’re to comfort one another with these words. But the remaining seal messages here are not comfort. They are talking about judgment and terror and death. A third reason why I think for sure it’s not Jesus is because of the word crown in verse 2. I’m kind of a bear for word studies because I find often they give you the answer you’re looking for. The Holy Spirit inspired the word and not one jot or one tittle will pass away to all this be fulfilled. Well, there are two words for crown. One is our English word Stephen from Stephanos. A Greek word means a crown. But the word that is used of Jesus is not Stephanos. When you turn to Revelation chapter 19 and look at verse 12, when he comes on that white horse at the end of the tribulation, it says that on his head were many crowns, but not Stephanos. It’s our English word, diadems. There’s a big difference between a Stephanos and a diademata. A Stephanos is a small little wreath that is put on a person’s head to recognize a particular triumph or victory they’ve had in life. A diadem is put on a sovereign ruler who is over all. Our Lord does not come with little laurel wreaths stacked up on his head for his numerous little victories through life. Our Lord is coming with many diadems because he’s king of kings and lord of lords. So there’s quite a difference. No, this is not Jesus Christ in Revelation 6.2. A second thing I would mention to you is that his authority, according to this passage, was given unto him. And a lot of people try to connect this as though the Father had given Jesus his authority when Jesus said, all authority is given unto me. But I remind you that there’s someone else given somebody authority. Turn to chapter 13, verse 4. This crown, this Stephanos crown, This appearance of conquest was given to him. In chapter 13, it describes a beast. In verse 4, it says they worshiped the dragon who gave power or authority unto the beast. So there’s someone else who gives authority, and not simply the Father to the Son, but the devil does to the beast or to the Antichrist. Turn to 2 Thessalonians 2, and look at verse 9. Here he’s called the man of sin, the wicked one who will be revealed, the son of perdition. We’re talking the Antichrist still. And 2 Thessalonians 2, 9 says, “…even him whose coming is after the working of…” Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. Now, if they didn’t have the word lying in there, you might get confused because signs, wonders, and miracles are used of the miracles of Jesus and the apostles. But apparently the Antichrist is going to produce something similar, though they are counterfeit, but they are lies. They are deceptive. They’re going to appear to be miraculous. I want to ask you, do you think our world right now is being set up for this? I have seen miracles by satanic power. I have seen it with my own eyes. I saw it not just in one or two incidents, but constantly in a great revival that occurred in Argentina a few years ago. Argentina is known for its interest in the occult and its Satanism. They have warlocks and witches who will come in three-piece suits and are bankers and lawyers and politicians, and they control the country, and it’s well known. And in that great revival, which God brought thousands of Argentinians to Jesus Christ, it was like a war between the powers of Satan and the powers of God. I saw miracles done by satanic power. I just want you to know that Satan is fully capable of doing supernatural things. You knew that, didn’t you? That’s why you need to be careful about messing around with him. There is going to be signs, wonders, lying wonders. Deception is going to be everywhere. And according to the Bible, this one is coming, this leader, is going to be operating under the working of Satan. And he is able to do miracles. And it’s a counterfeit. You see, the whole period of the tribulation is beginning with this deception. And apparently it’s going to cover most of the planet. It’s going to be worldwide. Deception is going to be everywhere. 2 Corinthians chapter 11. You want to know what the demons of hell are like? Verse 13, such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ, the Messiah. And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works. According to the Bible. Satan can transform himself into an angel of light. Have you noticed that we’ve seen many news articles about angels? There’s a fascination with angels right now. Spirit guides, it’s a part of New Age thinking, and they’re talking a lot about it. Hey, I believe in angels. I believe they’re good ones. God’s elect and holy angels who are ministering to us and taking care of us, even though we don’t see them. And I also believe there are wicked, evil spirits, demons from hell, that are angels. And they are deceivers. And notice they can appear as ministers of righteousness. They can appear like, hey, they’re holy men, like they’re really walking a straight and narrow, like they got no problems. Somehow they are like almost angels of light. If you see an angel of light, I wouldn’t immediately conclude it was the Lord. We can be easily deceived. I don’t know what people think about the tribulation, and if we’re right there as I believe we’re at the threshold of it, then I expect some of that which the tribulation will be characterized by will be seen in some sort of beginning forms in our own culture right before the rapture. Well, we really see deception now. It’s everywhere. Look in Matthew chapter 24. You see, the white horse suggests a counterfeit to what we read in Revelation 19. It’s a counterfeit Messiah. It’s anti-Christ, not Christ. And he is coming to power at the beginning of the tribulation. And there’s a lot of deception. And a lot of people are believing the lies. He’s going to be able to do some powerful things. Satan’s going to give him miraculous ability. And the whole world, the Bible says, is going to wonder and be amazed at this man. Matthew 24, verse 4. Jesus taught us concerning the coming tribulation. In the beginning of sorrows, he said, “…take heed that no man deceive you, for many, not few, but many, shall come in my name, saying, I am Messiah, I am Christ, and shall deceive many.” Wow, it’s going to be pretty heavy evidently. Look at verse 23. Now why? Why? Because the Lord isn’t going to need any advanced man. No PR department. No satellite television. No CNN. Lord won’t need any of it. It says, how’s he going to come? As the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even into the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. The whole heaven’s going to be lit up with the presence of Christ. You don’t need somebody saying, hey, I know where the Messiah is. He’s living in the suburbs of London. He’s an East Pakistani. Jesus said, don’t believe it. You know what? I heard he’s a rabbi in Brooklyn, New York. Don’t believe it, Jesus said. Why? Because when he comes, it’ll be like the lightning flashing from one end of the sky to another. You won’t have to be worrying about where Jesus is or who he is. When he comes, every eye will see him and all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of him. When he comes at the end of the tribulation in power and great glory. So this white horse going out at the beginning of the tribulation, his deception through and through. Go back to Revelation chapter 6. I believe this is none other than the Antichrist and that biblical descriptions of a coming world leader who will rise to power at the beginning of the tribulation all seem to fit here. Let me just give you a quick rundown of them. I don’t expect you to, you know, to quickly grasp all of this, but those of you who are somewhat familiar with Bible prophecy can put it together rather quickly. I believe this is the same as the little horn of Daniel chapter 7. who comes to power among a confederation of ten other horns. And he quickly takes up three, gets the balance of power, and eventually will take over. I believe this is also the prince to come in Daniel chapter 9. The people of the prince that is going to come are the ones that destroyed Jerusalem back in 70 A.D. That’s why we believe it will be some sort of a revived Roman Empire, a world empire. I believe this is the king who blasphemes in Daniel chapter 11. I believe this is also the man of sin and son of perdition, as 2 Thessalonians 2 says. I believe this is none other than the Antichrist, as 1 John 2.18 says. I believe this is also the beast of Revelation 13. All of these are picturing the same person. He’s going to be such a deceiver that everybody will love him. He’ll be Mr. Clean. People will be rejoicing in the fact that he can bring peace. But the Bible says when they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape. Now, notice in Revelation 6 the impact which this white horse rider will have. It says he has a bow and he went forth conquering and to conquer. And what that is describing is a rise to power. It’s saying he’s coming to power by continual conquests. It may indicate military conquest. It may indicate other kinds of conquest. The point is, it’s a continual conquering, a series of engagements or conflicts or events or circumstances. He will be coming to power at the beginning of the tribulation period.
SPEAKER 01 :
That’s Bible teacher and author David Hawking, and this is Hope for Today. David’s back in just a moment, but first, Matt Hawking is here, and we want to share a terrific Bible study resource with you. We talked about this just a bit earlier in the program, got some more detail for you right now, Visions of the Future. Matt?
SPEAKER 02 :
It amazes me how infrequently the major and minor prophets are studied in pulpits, radio, and in print.
SPEAKER 01 :
And how much rich teaching and faith-building understanding of God’s plan for the ages, his plan of salvation and eternity, is missed as a result.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, that’s why Hope for Today is all about the Bible. The whole Bible. And nothing but the Bible.
SPEAKER 01 :
Nothing but the Bible, yeah.
SPEAKER 02 :
And that’s why my dad has written a thorough study of Zechariah titled Visions of the Future.
SPEAKER 01 :
Zechariah is often referred to as the little revelation of the Old Testament. The historical background follows Babylon’s destruction of Jerusalem and the return of the Jews to rebuild the temple. The book also speaks of the centrality of Jerusalem in God’s prophetic plan. And tells how this city will become a cup of trembling to all nations. And prophecy concerning a future invasion of Israel, the Battle of Armageddon. The glorious return of the Messiah to this earth. And the setting up of a kingdom that will never end. Amen.
SPEAKER 02 :
You know, it’s right there in Zachariah, Jim. Right. And my dad’s book, Visions of the Future, will show you all of the vivid details, historical context, explanations of crucial original text terms, cross-references, and fascinating applications for our lives today.
SPEAKER 01 :

We’re teaching the book of Revelation, chapter 6, dealing with the four horsemen, and I hope it has challenged your heart. We’re talking tribulation times. I believe the church will not be on earth during the tribulation. They will have been raptured to heaven and be with the Lord all during that time. Praise God. And if you need further study, you can go to our website, HFT Media, and there’s where you can find the whole study on Revelation and on Isaiah and the Gospel of Matthew and Chronicles. Wow. Thanks for listening. I sure appreciate you, and it’s because of your prayers and gifts that we’re on your station. We don’t have anybody behind us like big organizations do. We have no church, no special organization. We are dependent totally on the gifts of God’s people in each broadcast area. And we’re on in Canada, and we’re on also in the United States. Thank you for your help. Well, it’s chapter 6 that we’re in, and we’re picking it up when we see the fifth seal being opened, and there are people in heaven. Can you believe it? Those who have been killed, who died— and are now in heaven, and they’re communicating. They’re alive and talking to the Lord. Wow! Heaven is going to be some special place. A lot of folks don’t know that when you’re absent from the body, you’re present with the Lord. You’re not sleeping. You will be conscious in heaven. and interested in Bible prophecy. So it’d be a good thing if you get started now, as many of you are, because you’re listening to our broadcast every day. God bless you, and plan to be with us for our next broadcast.
SPEAKER 01 :

No one can outrun it. But for those who belong to Jesus, there is hope that cannot be shaken. Join us as David charges ahead with the four horsemen from Revelation chapter 6. And we’ll see you then right here on Hope for Today.
