Radio Broadcasts And so you can go there to get an in-depth study of all of the spiritual laws. So today we are going to move on to a new series. And I’m going to begin sharing with you a message called True Value, in which we are going to look at what is precious to God and what is precious to you. So join me now in our live service for part one of this message, True Value. This is actually a prequel message for a series I’m going to be doing on the word of God. And as you see on the notes, and by the way, if you’re watching online in the description box below the video that you’re watching in the description box, there’s a link where it says download the notes here. You can click on the link and you can download the notes and And you can follow along on the same notes that we are using right here. And they are downloadable and printable. I like giving out notes because I believe when people see it, it gets in them. It comes in two gates, not only the ear where it can go in and go out and be forgotten, but when it comes in the eyes, it sinks in a little deeper. And then it also gives you something to remember and go back to later and refresh and study later. That’s why I give the notes. And so tonight’s message is called true value, true value. And starting with the question, what do you consider precious? What do you consider precious? What do you consider valuable? What do you consider important? Jesus said, where your treasure is, that’s where your heart is. So where you spend your time and your money, that shows you right where your heart is and that shows you what’s important to you. Your time and money is a direct arrow to what is important to you. But what do you consider precious, valuable, and important? The word precious simply means, of course, we all know it, but I like to give the definition. Means of great value, not to be wasted or treated carelessly. Synonyms of the word precious are valuable, costly, expensive, dear, priceless, expensive, rare, and irreplaceable. So to consider someone or something precious is to hold that person or thing in high esteem and of great worth. Great worth, great value. Amen. So let’s look at some things what the Bible calls precious. And are these on the top of your list? Jesus is precious. 1 Peter 2 verses 4 through 7. As you come to him, that’s Jesus, the living stone rejected by men, but chosen by God and precious to him, to God. You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in scripture it says, see, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious stone. And the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame. Now to you who believe this stone is what? Precious. But to those who do not believe the stone, the builders rejected has become the capstone. Is Jesus precious to you? Well, I expect he probably is. If you love him, he is precious to you. And then we see the blood of Jesus is precious and his sacrifice was precious. Jesus’ precious blood and precious sacrifice. 1 Peter 1, 18 and 19. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers. but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb, you could say a sacrifice, lamb sacrifice without blemish or defect. In other words, a precious sacrifice, precious blood, precious lamb, precious sacrifice. The complete Jewish Bible in verse 19 says, on the contrary, you were purchased with the costly, bloody, sacrificial death. So whereas the other says precious blood, complete Jewish Bible says the costly, bloody, sacrificial death of the Messiah as of a lamb without defect or spot. So his sacrifice was costly and precious. His blood is costly and precious. Because you were purchased by that precious blood and sacrifice of Jesus, the cost and the price paid for you makes you precious. You know, the price paid for something determines its value. And you were bought by the precious, costly. You can’t put a price on it. It can’t be counted. And that’s how precious you are. You are that precious to God. Cannot be counted. Your worth cannot be counted. Isaiah 43 verse 4. Since you are precious and honored in my sight. God is saying this. God says since you are precious and honored in my sight. And because I love you. I will give men. He gave Jesus. In exchange for you. And people, he gave Jesus, in exchange for your life. So he gave Jesus in exchange for you. That means your worth equals Jesus’ worth. Can you believe that? In John 17, Jesus prayed to the Father. Lord, may they know that… You love them as much as you love me. Can you believe that? God loves us as much as Jesus. And that we are worth as much as Jesus. That’s why he gave Jesus to buy us. Our worth equals the worth of Jesus. Even one of us. Even if there was only one of us. Not like it’s just the whole human race. And as a conglomerate body of people. We’re worth Jesus. No. One individual. One individual. Even in the book of Psalms, I forgot the chapter and verse, but it says the cost of a life is precious. No price is ever enough. It says something like that. Nothing can ever be paid. Nothing is ever enough for the cost of a life. So even for one of us, Jesus would have died. And that makes one of us, that makes you alone, your value equal in worth to Jesus. Praise the Lord. Say, I’m valuable. I’m precious and I have great worth in God’s sight, in God’s heart. Glory to God. Thank you, Jesus. Now, the opposite of precious is worthless, of no value. No value at all. Worthless. So looking back at verse 18, 1 Peter 1, 18, again in the NIV, all my scriptures are in the NIV unless they say otherwise. This is the old NIV, the 84 edition. For you know… That it was not with perishable things such as silver and gold that you were redeemed from the what? Empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers. Empty. Everybody say empty. Empty. The American Standard Version says, “…knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life, handed down from your fathers.” The Bible in Basic English says, “…being conscious that you have been made free from that foolish way of life.” which was your heritage from your fathers. The complete Jewish Bible says, you should be aware that the ransom paid to free you from the worthless way of life, which your fathers passed on to you. New American standard says, knowing that you are not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life, inherited from your forefathers. The New Century Version says, you know that in the past you were living in a worthless way, a way passed down from the people who lived before you, but you were saved from that useless life. Unfortunately, many, many, many, many people, and unfortunately, sadly, including Christians, many Christians, are living an empty life. worthless, useless, vain, foolish. And futile, that’s the words that were used in these different translations. Empty, worthless, useless, vain, foolish, and futile life. Many people are living that life. And when a person does only vain, useless things, they also feel useless. Right? Many people feel useless. I mean, we’ve heard about people say, why do we do this? Why do we get up and go to work and come home and go to eat and do this? What’s it all for? It’s useless. That’s all they can see because that’s all they’re doing. They’re living a futile life with really no purpose except to get a little more get ahead. And some people, it’s more even of a consuming desire to pursue the American dream. And we basically know what that is, to prosper, get rich, store up as much as you can so you can retire comfortably and get an RV and tour the country or whatever. But to retire comfortably at 65, 66, 67, whatever, whenever you can retire and then just sit back, eat, drink and be lazy. that’s the American dream. And that’s why they go to work and they save up everything. But you know, if that’s all you’re doing, it’s useless. It’s futile. It’s foolish. It’s empty. It’s vain. If that’s all there is for many people and sad to say, even a lot of Christians, that’s all there is. That’s all there is in life. It’s empty, worthless, useless, vain, foolish, and futile. But God’s ways are precious. What you just heard was the beginning of a message that I preached in one of our victorious faith services called True Value, in which we are studying what is precious and what is worthless, what is precious to God and what is precious to you. Join me again tomorrow as we will continue this message. And remember, God loves you. You are blessed and highly favored by the Lord.
