CHRYSANDRA :
Welcome, everyone, to The Calling’s radio show to all the dreamers. I’m your radio host, Dr. Chrysandra Brunson, founder and CEO of The Calling, and it is such an honor to be with all of you today. You know, at The Calling, we have realized that so many people are afraid to go after the dreams that Jesus has placed inside each one of our hearts because they are afraid to fail, and that is just plain wrong because of If God has given us a dream and we’re not living it out, we are wasting it and we do not want you or anyone else to die with regret. That’s why at The Calling we love to inspire, empower, and equip people to, after God’s calling on their lives, to create the best kind of eternal legacy possible to have immediate impact on ourselves and our families. We love to do this through so many different avenues, through custom tools and programs, workshops, seminars, but especially through this radio show where we bring on world-renowned guests to share how they’re going after their God-given dreams and how you can do the same. Today is no exception. I am thrilled for more of the world, for all of you to be able to join the one and only Dr. Arthur L. All right. Welcome to the show.
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Dr. Chrysondra Brunson. Good day, my dear friend. How are you? It’s a pleasure to be here with you.
CHRYSANDRA :
Oh, it’s such an honor to be with you. And Art, we have to tell everyone, and I should be saying Dr. Art.
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
It’s Art is fine. Dr. Art, just call me Art.
CHRYSANDRA :
Well, formally, that’s what we can formally call you. But how do we both know each other?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
We know each other because you and I, along with a nice group of very distinguished individuals, had a life journey together of more than maybe six to seven years, I believe, because both you and I and some of our friends, we traveled through over Robert’s universities, multiple programs, including a doctorate program. But prior to that, our master’s program, I believe we were, kind of connected with each other as well.
CHRYSANDRA :
Yes, yes. And we just walked as doctors this May of 2025. And that was such a blessing. And Art throughout the whole program looked up to you and your fearless leadership example and just the way that you have been able to truly change the world. Can you just share with our listeners some of the leadership positions that you have been able to hold thus far?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Well, right now, obviously, I’m a pastor, a pastor of a church out in a place that probably no one has heard of before called Aquabog. I live in eastern Long Island. Our church is in Aquabog. Very, I would say, I don’t want to call it small. We’re a family-oriented church. So first it would be as a pastor. Beyond that, or extended to that, I’m also an author of two books now, co-authored, or I’ve kind of ghostwritten for some people as well. Beyond that, I’m in the business world. So I’m a leader and a dreamer, as you would call it. And- The business world as well. I go around, I speak. I try to pour into and edify leaders. But most importantly, my mission and goal in life. And as you say, I go back to you. My dream is to hear those words from our Lord. Well done, my good and faithful servant. My number one role in life is to serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That’s my priority more than anything else. My life is devoted to him.
CHRYSANDRA :
Amen. And you can see the fruit of that in your life, Art, in every area throughout your family, throughout your business, throughout your ministry, and just truly honor you. And Art, we’re so excited to hear about this latest book that was able to debut this year. And can you just share the titles of your books?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Well, I have two that are available now. The first is my book titled Effective. It’s seven keys for Christian leadership success. That book is more for the growing Christian to the mature Christian. Simply put, I know you didn’t ask yet, but let me just throw a little information about it out there. The book helps to shape an individual’s walk. Specifically, it’s a calling into leadership. And the reason why I believe that’s for the Great Commission, all of us are called to lead in some capacity or some shape or form. So it’s not just for, let’s say, clergy, the bishops, the pastors or whoever, the reverends in the church. Yes, they are called to a form of leadership. But I also believe mom and dad. I also believe grandma and grandpa. I also believe the person who owns the local pizza shop or the sandwich shop. If they’re a Christian, they’re called to lead and to influence school teachers, the janitors, et cetera, et cetera. This book is written for all people. what it’s doing its goal is to attach the gifting of the holy spirit with seven attributes and principles that god gives to each of us that sometimes leaders compromise sometimes leaders forget about sometimes leaders aren’t made aware of these things but If we acknowledge these seven things in our walk as Christian leaders, failure, which we have seen, I don’t personally believe the Lord wants us to fail. Now falling, meaning mistakes and errors, we all fall short before the glory of God. But how do we get back on our feet? How do we enter into a state of restoration? How do we continue on our journey? Effective tackles all of those things in the few chapters the book has, again, for the sake and the hope of God’s people to continue on their journey.
CHRYSANDRA :
I think we all need this, Art. Can you just share real quickly what you think that maybe the most surprising seven tips are within the book?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Well, I mean, let’s just take one of the keys. One of the keys that’s often compromised is stewardship. Stewardship, when we hear stewardship, we often just fall to the direction of finances and money. But that’s just a quarter. If I could just say one fourth of what our stewardship approach should be. Yes, we should properly steward the finances we have because our finances actually don’t belong to us. When we pass away, We don’t take them with us. And what that means is what’s given to us belongs to God. But doesn’t time fall into that same category? We’re born. We don’t ask to be born. For the most part, none of us can determine our death. But what God gives us in between is something called time. Stewardship involves how we use that time wisely, which a lot of people struggle with. The third of stewardship involves people. How do we treat people? Like, Chrysandra, you’re a gift to me. You’re a precious person to me. We’ve shared very, very sacred conversations with each other. And again, I hold that to a high level of value. Here’s the reason why. You belong to God. How I treat you and respond to you reflects God in my heart. Because I understand you’re God’s precious jewel. You’re his. if i mistreat you or if if i respond to you in a horrific way what does that say about me and what does that say about me being held to that standard before god number four and the last one is myself i belong to god too and we have to learn how to treat ourselves in a specific way according to god now again uh Should we be conceited? No. Should we inflict harm upon ourselves? No. But should we take care of ourselves? Yes. For God to use us in an effective, pardon the pun, in an effective manner, we have to be healthy. We have to be mindful. We have to be able to be used in the way God wants us to be used. So at the same time that we treat others good and we treat our time good and we treat our finances good, make sure we respond to ourselves using what God has spoken about rest and time with him in prayer, and at the same time, having some love for yourself. Scripture says, love your neighbor as yourself. So if you don’t treat yourself in a way that’s godly, can’t expect to treat other people in the correct way as well.
CHRYSANDRA :
I think we’re all just wanting to make sure that we wrote down everything that you said, but thankfully it’s in your book. We want to hear how we can get this and be able to have it truly just soak into our veins and our cells and allow this to marinate to really transform our whole lives. Because it does affect every part of our daily lives without the hefty titles, just the integrity of being God’s child. Yeah. That is so powerful. We want to know, take us back when you were a little boy and, you know, what were these seeds that God started just to be able to grow in you to know that this is what you were meant to do and your true calling in life as a leader?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
You know, it’s odd because I had the roller coaster life without being on the roller coaster. And I know that sounds odd, but that’s my testimony. I did not have the story many people will share of the drugs, of the alcohol, and in no way am I lifting or exalting myself. I’m just speaking my personal truth. What I did have is a sense of I felt abandoned. And by way of that abandonment, I started to make decisions where I felt I needed to be accepted. And I know a lot of people make decisions in life. And again, just because there’s no drugs or alcohol or violence doesn’t mean that, again, you see yourself the way God sees you. And I think early on that that was my problem.
CHRYSANDRA :

DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Yeah, what happens is I was exposed to great people. That was as simple as that. You know, God put people around me. I lacked a father during the time. I did have a dad, but my father wasn’t present with me. But he put people around me, and these people, they were people of God. so not only did they demonstrate their godliness i saw them from a human perspective so i was allowed to go to the house i saw how husbands treated their wives wives treated their husband how they loved their children and what happened in life is i got a choice and it was a fork in the road and a decision had to be made what did i want my life to look like And the decision I made, which was a bad one at first, I chose to go the wrong direction, not go God’s way. But God, with his grace, allowed me to come back around and empowered me through the Holy Spirit to have that choice again. And what came to mind were the seeds that were planted in me years before and say, wait a minute, I don’t want that because that didn’t taste good. That didn’t feel good. What ended up happening was I was able to come to the realization, no, I wanna go this way. And there was a sign on the road that said God’s way this way. So I went God’s way. And what happened was I was able to capture my uncle and my aunts and other people who I’ve met along the way, godly people. And that was the life that I believe I was called to have. Now it led to ministry, led to all these different things that were beyond my dream. I never could envision Chrysandra being an author, could never even envision having a master’s or doctorate degree. This was so far out of my reach because it wasn’t part of my plan. But it began with going that way, the alternate way, not the way of the world, but the way that God has called us all to go, no matter what. happens down that road we have to understand god has already ordained our future he’s already composed it but we have to go the way of the lord when i did that’s when everything changed manifested into you know little old me that what you see and i believe he’s got more to come and the thing is real quick it’s not about me anymore It’s about being used in such a way to inspire others, to inspire and encourage other dreamers.
CHRYSANDRA :
Right.
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
And that he’s glorified through all of it. And when we live in such a way, that’s when things become outside of our ability to even capture.
CHRYSANDRA :
Amen. All right. That is incredible. And you can really see, I don’t think enough people talk about the power of influence as a child with the families that we have surrounding us and really soaking in that content and wisdom from just family members, from leaders, seeing how they don’t even have to say anything to you directly, but just watching and observing is a great reminder that Today we’re getting watched and looked at, and it really does matter of all ages of our influence. Yes. So in this journey of pursuing your God-given calling, you know, the challenges come, the giants come, the valleys. How have you been able to walk through one valley in particular to be able to know that there was a mountaintop and that you could get there?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
To me, it’s understanding that they’re supposed to come. Jesus said we’ll face tribulation. You know, Chrysandra, it’s sort of like if I tell you that between today at five and six o’clock, you can’t do any radio interviews. You already know ahead of time that there’s going to be a blackout or there’s going to be an interruption. So what do you do? Well, at five o’clock, you stop your interviews and you come back on at 630. You understand that this is going to happen. I think sometimes as Christians, when Jesus says we’re going to face challenges, we’re shocked and we’re rocked. But if we seemingly are prepared and we understand that they’re going to come, he gives us how we get through them. We get through the challenges with him. So a lot of us, what we’re not doing is when they come, we get rocked and scared and all thrown off course and we run and hide. No, we’re not supposed to run away. We’re supposed to run towards. We run to him and say, Lord, you told me that if this happens to come to you, now help me get through this. Well, he promised it. He never reneges on his promises. So what happens? He helps us through. So when I face challenges, whether it was in school, which I did, whether it’s in life with my wife and my children, which we all do with family, whether it’s with business, whether it’s the church, I always have to remember that God said this was going to happen. Now, why does this happen? He refines us. Think of beautiful golden jewelry. Think of anything precious. The way that it gets purified is you put heat to it. You make it hot. You make it uncomfortable. There are times the Lord makes us uncomfortable to get the goop out of us, to get the things off of us that we don’t need to hold on to. And we lose them when we run to him. It’s the same exact thing. So if in your mind and in your heart, something comes your way, you get that bad diagnosis. You get that bad report card. You get fired from your job. Something happens. You get in an argument with just, just pause for a second. Just pause and say, wait a minute. The Lord said these things are going to happen. He didn’t say specifically when or who or what. But I trust in you, Lord. And I trust in you so much that I’m bringing it to you so you can bring me through.
CHRYSANDRA :
Amen. That is really powerful. And just know that. we all we’re not promised an easy life but we’re promised to be able to get to know jesus throughout it and to be refined like you’re saying through the fire and couldn’t have said it better thank you for that What has been one of your most miraculous stories that you have been able to live out in terms of just walking by faith and seeing the Lord provide for you, whether that was a physical need or just a miracle of a dream coming true? And how did that happen?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Back in the early 80s, there was a show called The Cosby Show. I don’t know if you remember The Cosby Show.
CHRYSANDRA :
I love The Cosby Show.
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
I love The Cosby Show. I love Cliff and Claire, the married. They had the five kids. They had the nice home. That to a point, if I ever had a dream that was outside of the box, that was my dream to have a family. Now, again, I didn’t come from that dynamic. My grandmother and grandfather had a little bit of a toxic relationship. My mother was not married to to my father and wasn’t married for many, many years. But when I saw that on television, I said, I think that’s what I want. I want I want to love one woman. It wasn’t about loving many. It was just I want to love the way she looked at him and he looked at her. I said, I want that. I want my children to come home and call me dad. And here’s the reason why Chrysandra, I never called a man dad in my life, but I wanted that. So it took some time. I mentioned that fork in the road. I went down the wrong road for a moment and the Lord allowed me to double back. But here, here is the challenge. How do I get that? Because I don’t deserve it.
CHRYSANDRA :
Yeah.
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
So what happens? Faithfulness. I wasn’t trying to get it. I was trying to please God. And when I pleased God, he gave me a wonderful wife. When I pleased God, he gave me not five like Cliff. He gave me six kids. The last the last was a surprise because it was supposed to be one and two showed up. It was twins. He gave me the ability. I never thought I wanted to be a pastor or anything in church. My grandfather back in the 70s has what they call eight track tapes of me preaching at three and four years old.
CHRYSANDRA :
Those need to go viral art.
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Right. How scary is that? You know, he died in 95, but they found the tape somewhere. So so here’s my point. Everything you’ve seen here from me, I don’t deserve any of it. None of it. No degree, no church, no wife, no anything. And this is why I respond to it the way I do, because it’s all a blessing from God. The challenge was to overcome the fact that God was blessing me. Because some people receive blessings, Chrysandra, and they dismiss them. I understand I don’t deserve it, but it comes my way because it’s an expression of God’s love for me. That’s why back to stewardship, I’ve tried to learn how to handle these things godly, the way God wants me to, because when he blesses you and blesses me in ways where we don’t deserve, but we respond to it accordingly, he’s glorified by that.
CHRYSANDRA :
yes he gets the glory well i i think art that we just are so reminded of i think deep down if people are honest with their hearts and souls and minds none of us deserve any blessing and you your posture and humility of having that lens of insight of of daily life and gratitude and servitude and stewardship is just it’s extremely profound and those words well done good and faithful servant i know will be will be yours and they can be all of ours and just be able to capturing to capture the father’s love um for each person we encounter and the way that he sees us We’re coming up towards the end of our show. We don’t know where time goes, but we do want to be able to quickly ask, you know, there’s people tuning in right now and they are afraid, one person in particular, and you know if that’s you, they are afraid to go after what God has called them to. And they don’t know how to be able to move forward. What is the greatest piece of advice and wisdom that you could tell them?
DR. ARTHUR FABER :
Get into the word of God, get into the local church, get on your knees and pray. Find yourself a mentor, someone that can pour into your life. So you’re going to God, you’re going to church, you’re going to the Bible, and you’re going to find a friend. Find those four things. Make it purposeful. It should be your intention. Don’t just waver around. Be intentional. Find those four things. Chrysandra and myself, we’ve experienced these things personally and in our lives. The reason why you see the success and hear a successful woman the way you do is because she has those four things in her life. They’re mandatory. They’re a necessity. And God wants us to have all of those things to lead us. to cross from the possibility into that becoming our reality. Let our dreams be defined by God, but let God define the dream.
CHRYSANDRA :
Mic drop. We just love and appreciate you so much. And we want to be able to know how we can get your latest book, your other books, as well as come alongside. Visit your church is when we’re coming to New York from around the world. How can we do all those things?
