CHRYSANDRA :
Welcome, everyone, to The Calling’s radio show to all the dreamers. I’m your radio host, Chrysandra Brunson, founder and CEO of The Calling, and it is such an honor to be with all of you today. You know, at The Calling, we have realized that so many people are afraid to go after the dreams that God has put inside each one of our hearts. Because we are afraid to fail. And that’s just plain wrong because God has given each one of us a dream. And if we’re not living it out, we are wasting it. And we do not want to die with regret. We understand fear and we know that you can overcome it. We love to inspire, empower, and equip people to live out their God-given dreams through doing this through global conferences, workshops, even through this incredible radio show to all the dreamers and having incredible guests like we do today. The one and only Lindsay Solo.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Thank you so much. I’m so happy to do this with you.
CHRYSANDRA :
Oh, Lindsay, this is it’s such an honor to have you and you are just such a cherished friend, but also just such a world changer and just a you really are like a heavenly movie star. Thank you. So I think that a lot of people have heard your name and have come across you in different scenarios. But can you just introduce yourself to everyone today and some of the roles that you have played in humanity?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Wow. Yes. So my name is Lindsay Solanese. Originally, my artist name is Lindsay Solo. It’s a little easier to spell. I’m originally from Colorado and moved out to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams about six years ago. And God really put it on my heart and it was scary. And I made the leap through the support of friends.
CHRYSANDRA :
Yes. And you, I mean, you have just been able to be a champion of facing fear in the face and just walking forward no matter what. And it has been such an inspiration to see you do that. And you have such an incredible background from acting to singing. And what is so part of that world? Just describe that to us a little bit.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. So I grew up singing, being inspired by Disney and all of the songs that different princesses sing. And I continued to sing in church. I started singing the Lord’s Prayer and got really inspired by God in church and just continued on that path. And I didn’t really know where it would lead. And I found myself in the world of opera and discovered another type of voice that I didn’t realize that I had. Continue to pursue that and realized that I loved having that foundation, but I also wanted to use the gifts that God has given me to expand into the public as much as possible and crossing over into something more cinematic, more pop focused, but still using that foundation of classical music. Los Angeles seemed to be an incredible place that God was calling me to. And I’ve continued to pursue that here. And it’s been absolutely incredible.
CHRYSANDRA :
So let’s take everyone back to when we first met each other real quick. Do you remember?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. So it’s been almost maybe eight to 10 years ago that we met in Colorado. And I remember it was with wands and wishes in Denver and inspirational company, um, they create the most incredible events um with these characters uh that are reimagined and i remember you were tinkerbell and i was cinderella and i remember children’s hospital we did that together and it was so beautiful and so many people were so inspired you know and uh I remember doing that with you. It was, it was incredible. Um, yes.
CHRYSANDRA :
And I remember that too, Lindsay, and you were Cinderella and you guys, you guys will see Lindsay and you guys know her, but you just look at her. You’re like, Oh, she is the real life Cinderella. Yeah. Just having this pureness of heart and beauty inside and out. And so that was such a marker in my life, too, Lindsay, just seeing you live out what God was calling you to and that you were a performer, too, in Orlando. Is that correct?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. So I was actually the opposite of Cinderella. Yeah. So I scared many families and children. However, there’s also wonder and excitement in that as well. And I at first did not want to do that, but then I got excited because, you know, it’s still, you’re still living out a dream. And I was able to dance and incorporate dance into that and, and different personalities with that. And it was, it was such an experience with acting as well. An improvisational experience.
CHRYSANDRA :
moments so well just god has been training you and leading you to be able to just be a world leader and to be on these different platforms and you mentioned classical opera and that is lindsay maybe we’ll have to see maybe in our time that maybe today that you would be able to sing a little bit for us, but we’ll see how it goes. It really is like the angels singing. I’ve never heard anything like it. It’s just so beautiful. Lindsay, so take us back. So you have all these passions, all these dreams. You’ve been able to live out so many of them. There’s so much more to come. You’re right in the heart of Beverly Hills and just in the center of impacting just the Hollywood sector to be able to be a bright light in a dark spot and to just bring heaven into people’s hearts and that joy and that pureness of love. Bring us back to when you were a little girl. How did you know that this was what like when you look back, how can you see God dropping these things in your heart of these different seeds?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. So I remember just singing in the living room with my grandma. I sang A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. And she was and I’ll never forget. She said, never forget. you know, this moment and pursue your dreams. And, and I felt that in my heart anyway, she really brought that out. My family’s been so supportive as well. And I remember just singing in church and feeling just this inspiration in my heart and almost feeling like an out of body experience when I was singing. And I just felt really connected to God and noticed that with others, they felt this bright light and this joy and connection. And yeah, God just put it on my heart. You know, I gave you this gift. I want you to give it away. So I’ve continued to pursue it. And again, like I said, in Los Angeles, it requires you to have a lot of armor, right?
CHRYSANDRA :
Yes. Lindsay, can you give us a snapshot? Just like that moment being with your grandmother and she just saying, don’t forget this, Lindsay. Do not forget. Can you, could you sing us a little bit of that song?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. Let’s see. I did not prepare for this portion.
CHRYSANDRA :
I know. I’m putting you on the spot.
LINDSEY SOLO :
You’re putting me on the spot. Sorry. A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartache. Whatever you wish for, you keep.
CHRYSANDRA :
Lindsay, I have goosebumps. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my gosh. Thank you. Everyone listening is just like, wow. And you guys, you’ll be able to see bits and pieces of the interview as well. But you just see it. You just know that that’s what your calling is. Like, Lindsay, that is your God-given calling. And I love that your grandma was able to stamp that on your heart as a little girl to say, don’t ever forget this. And then for your family to just, like, wrap around you and to support you to know that this is what you were made to do.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes.
CHRYSANDRA :
Amen.
LINDSEY SOLO :
And just to encourage everyone out there, your calling is placed within you. And it constantly… it’s almost like a little soft tap and it is God, but it doesn’t matter if you move to different States, it doesn’t matter if you move to different countries, if you don’t pursue the dream in your heart, it will continue to kind of find you and remind you of what is in there, um, until you continue to pursue it. And I, I’ve experienced that myself. Um, just sometimes trying to step away and, you know, we get so caught up in life, but it’s always this soft little graceful nudge. And it’s incredible because as long as you continue to pivot, um, it will always show up in different ways and it grows. And as long as you’re open to the growth, um, it can shape shift in different, in different ways, but it’s, it’s incredible because it doesn’t leave. Yeah.
CHRYSANDRA :
Wow, that is so powerful. Lindsay, you’re so, because that is, you know, a lot of people are like, well, how do you even know what your calling is? God makes it known what your calling is. And it’s just that awareness of our heart to not block it and to continue to walk forward and seeing it be lived out. And cause that’s where the, that abundant life comes in that joy and that radiance. And Lindsay, so you were a little girl and then you, so how did you start pursuing this dream in your heart? You, you shared a little bit, but walk us through that journey.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yeah. So church was a really big foundation for me. And singing the Lord’s prayer, like I said, really was an inspiration and so moving. And I continue to start singing different choirs in school. And, you know, when I majored in opera in college, I was in different operas in Italy and experienced different cultures and foreign language. And it just was this constant ripple effect of inspiration. I experienced singing in acapella groups in Denver and different Christmas choirs and things like that. And when I moved out to Los Angeles, the doors just opened even wider because I gave God room for that instead of listening to my own fears, because we all have fears, right? And it’s so hard to pursue a dream because there’s no guarantee, especially in music, um there’s never a guarantee but if we trust in god we know that he will fulfill that plan so i continued out here in los angeles and you know i sang with michael bolton and just so many incredible moments out here um that are are provided um compared to to staying in denver so you do have to expand and allow yourself the opportunities as well
CHRYSANDRA :
Right, right. And well, I just remember a little bit of that scenario, Lindsay, where you’re like, I just don’t know, like, if I, like, you felt like God was calling you to be able to move to Los Angeles, but it was so scary. And You were like, I know I’m supposed to do it. I’m going. And you didn’t know exactly how he would lay out. That’s what happens, too, is we don’t have the map right in front of us, but it’s step by step and walking by faith. And just like you said, to see all these doors open for you is so powerful. Yeah. And Lindsay, we’re needing to take a quick break. We are with Lindsay Solo on to All The Dreamers radio show. I’m your host, Chrysandra Brinson. We’ll be right back. Twist and shout with Lee & Co. Can you take us to a scenario that Has this been beyond your wildest imagination while being in LA? Yeah, tell us about one or two situations.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Sitting in Quincy Jones’ home, singing Smile with him holding my hand. That is a god wink of, I don’t even know.
CHRYSANDRA :
Okay, so tell everyone how big of a deal Quincy, because I think some people don’t know as big of a deal as Quincy Jones is, but you guys, this is a massive deal.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes, Quincy Jones is an icon and legend. I can’t even get into all of… everything he’s done in his lifetime, but he is most, well, he’s known for so many things, but Michael Jackson and all of his albums that he produced is what he’s known for. It’s one of the 500 things he’s done. but he’s just so influential in music and so inspirational. And I was able to sit with him and he’s also a mentor for so many. We were able to sit and I sang with him and he, he told me to never give up with my dreams as well. And to have someone that has done everything that you could ever think of to sit there with you and inspire you and tell you to never give up. It’s, it’s so encouraging. Another person that has done that was BB King. I’ll never forget. He gave me his guitar pick after a show, um, and said, never, ever give up. And he also held my hand. So God had all these people surrounding me throughout my lifetime. Um, it’s been different little God winks of inspiration and, um, And it’s moments that you have to recognize. And I have. And so those are just a few. There’s more, but those really stood out.
CHRYSANDRA :
Those are huge. So Lindsay, you’re in Quincy Jones’s living room. Did he just invite you over for coffee or what happened? No.
LINDSEY SOLO :
So it was through Lorenzo Quinn, who is an incredible world-renowned sculptor based in Spain and London. And we wrote a song together called Give and Receive. The more you give in life, the more you receive. The more love you give, the more you receive. Based off of his sculpture. And he’s very close with Quincy Jones. And so we all had a day where he scheduled it. And I went with him and Quincy and Marcel Camargo, who is an incredible musician here in Los Angeles. He’s played with Michael Buble for years. And he’s… helped me with my last EP that I released. So we all sat in the living room and shared our music stories and inspiration. And I thought I was going to cry. It was just one of those moments that you never forget. And it’s important. Yeah.
CHRYSANDRA :
Yes. Those pillars to stand on, to know that you are called to this. And Lindsay, that is just so, that’s so powerful. And like you mentioned, Michael Jackson to then TV shows like Will Smith and Frank Sinatra.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. He, he discovered Frank and, and just there’s, he’s been around every legend that you could imagine. He is, god has him in the palm of his hand too it’s just you know so many inspirational legends and um and you know what’s interesting is Sometimes I’ve realized that God puts us in these different rooms, but maybe it’s not exactly our time to shine and that’s okay. And you can sit in that room and have these incredible experiences, but you don’t have to have these huge expectations from that and just kind of let God speak to you in those moments and see where it leads. Um, learned that having less expectations, it’s very important as well. Um, allow God the space to create versus us always like trying to figure out the outcome in every moment. I’ve learned that out here. Yes.
CHRYSANDRA :
Well, I think that rest and I just heard something recently, but just that constant reminder of Psalms 46, just being still and knowing that he is God and he’ll be exalted among all the nations and among all the world while we’re still. And just like you’re saying, Lindsay, just being still in those moments and just knowing that God is going to he knows every heart desire in our, in our innermost being. And he wants that to unfold before us. But just like you’re sharing, not to be anxious to have to rush to open up a door or make something happen because it’s timing. So perfect. And yeah, Lindsay, you’re walking in such elegance and beauty of this dance that he’s taking you on and letting him open up these historic doors. And so it’s just such an inspiration that, you know, I think all of us to the listeners tuning in and just me just hearing this as well again. of being so inspired to just enjoy the moment, enjoy the dance. Lindsay, how have you been able to overcome these different, the different trials that come up in living out your God-given calling? How have you been able to persevere time and time again?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes, especially. It just keeps going after us. Yes. And as many of us know, especially with the pandemic and mental health and You know, people go through so many ups and downs with depression and I’ve even experienced it. And, you know, it does take a lot of resilience. It does take a lot of prayer and being persistent with prayer and being present in the moment and kind of almost taking a step back and saying, OK, God. in these moments, sometimes I don’t trust us, but I actually need to trust you more and just kind of constantly surrounding yourself around that narrative, but also around incredible people that will lift you up because sometimes we can talk to ourselves over and over again, but we need to hear it outside of ourselves as well, as long as it’s from the right people. But I think community is very important and, and, just having those constant reminders from others and um in your prayer in your prayer life um to keep going and know that the path is not always clear. And there are moments of silence, but even in that moment of silence or seasons of silence, there’s a lot of direction in that too. And sometimes God wants us to pivot a little bit and just be even more open to what he has. And sometimes the picture is painted a little different. Yeah. Yeah. you know he’ll still guide you back to your calling um it just might look a little bit different um as as you grow in your in your seasons I love it like Lindsay can you take us to one situation in particular where you’re like I’m just I feel stuck like what do I do and then
CHRYSANDRA :
There was an epiphany of wisdom of what to do.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. So honestly, the pandemic, I know everybody talks about that, but I was definitely kind of flipped upside down in the music world with the pandemic. And it’s taken a lot of resilience to build that back. But having that trust in God and just literally using the word surrender and Surrendering is so key, especially in, well, in any industry, but especially in entertainment. Just surrendering everything, knowing that God will get you exactly where he wants you to be is so important. Yeah. things have started to open up again, you know, um, I’m having a lot of trust in, in that, in the surrender. And he’s really starting to open up different doors and I’m really excited for what the future holds, but just having that constant resilience and remembering, no, if he puts a dream in your heart, he will bring it to completion, but you also have to show up. You really have to show up.
CHRYSANDRA :
Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Lindsay, so I just want everyone to hear a little bit of how profound this angelic voice of the opera tone. Oh my goodness. Are you, would you be able just to share real quick, just a little bit of a blurb?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Sure.
CHRYSANDRA :
For people to get a picture, because I don’t think, most people have not heard how gorgeous and amazing this is.
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes, you can see the orchestra, hear the orchestra behind me right now.
ADVERTISER :
Yes, yes, yes.
LINDSEY SOLO :
This is a tiny bit of the very well-known O mio bambino caro that everybody has heard a million times.
LINDSEY SOLO :
O mio bambino caro, mi piace bene.
LINDSEY SOLO :
We’ll just leave it at that.
CHRYSANDRA :
Yeah. No, that is so perfect, Lindsay. I mean, it’s heavenly and it’s so profound. And thank you for sharing. And I can’t wait for everyone to come see you live and in person at upcoming events. Lindsay, we’re coming up towards the end, but we want to be able to hear what would you say is your biggest tip or piece of wisdom in someone living out their God-given calling? What would you say?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Stay authentic and really know that as you walk in your calling, you’re going to walk through the right doors. You’re going to walk in that authenticity and you’re going to inspire others if you’re walking in your own calling as well so you give others the inspiration to do the same when you actually feel that you can show up as yourself then you inspire others to do the same and that’s very important it’s a ripple effect of love
CHRYSANDRA :
Yes. Oh, my gosh. That’s very profound. And it’s life giving to know that we’re all we all have a unique calling that is so beautiful to us. And that’s the best inspiration that we can give to one another. And that’s who you are, Lindsay. And I know everyone wants to be able to tune in and to stay in touch with you, see you. What’s the best way that people can do that?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yes. So through Instagram, it’s at Lindsay Solo and it’s Lindsay with an A-Y.
CHRYSANDRA :
Do you want to spell that real quick, Lindsay, just to make sure everyone gets that?
LINDSEY SOLO :
Yeah. So for Instagram, it’s L-I-N-D-S-A-Y-S-O-L-O. And the same on Facebook, Lindsay Solo. My YouTube channel is also Lindsay Solo and you can see videos that we’ve released there. The website is lindsaysolo.com.
CHRYSANDRA :
We can’t wait. Well, Lindsay, and just like you said, this is just the beginning and this is a new season. And thank you for being resilient to be able to persevere to this other side of the pandemic and to know the best is yet to come. And we see that marked all over your life and life. Oh my goodness. You’re part of the legends with Quincy Jones.
LINDSEY SOLO :
And you are such a heavenly light. I, I love you so much. And you know, God puts people in our lives and, and you’re definitely one of those gifts. So I really appreciate you.
CHRYSANDRA :
Thanks, Lindsay. Well, we would love to have you back. This goes by way too quick.
LINDSEY SOLO :
