SPEAKER 02 :
Good morning. Welcome to Victorious Faith. I am Cherri Campbell. This morning we are going to continue and conclude the message I’ve been sharing with you in the last few broadcasts that I preached in a series of messages in our Victorious Faith services called Who is the Holy Spirit? And this is message two in that series. So join me now in our live service for the conclusion of this message. Message number two, Who is the Holy Spirit? Part two. Now the Holy Spirit also possesses a will. 1 Corinthians 12, 11, but all these work that one and self-same spirit, dividing or distributing, dividing or distributing. to every man or person, severally or individually, as he will, as the Holy Spirit will. The NIV says determines. The Complete Jewish says chooses. As he will, as he determines, as he chooses. So it’s the Holy Spirit who determines and chooses the distribution of the operation of the gifts of the Spirit. That’s why it is incorrect… anybody to say i have this gift no it’s as the holy spirit chooses even situation by situation you don’t possess it god possesses it the holy spirit possesses it and it’s by situation by situation occurrence by occurrence event by event that he distributes those. And they can be different, they can be mixed up. One time he gives you a word of knowledge, and the next time he gives the other person a word of knowledge. So it’s not your gift, it’s his. And in each service, each situation, each occasion, he’ll deliver or distribute those gifts as he wills, and he can change them up. Who he gives what to. All right, then let’s go on. The communication of a person. The Holy Spirit speaks. Acts 1.6. Brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled with which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas. The Holy Spirit spoke through the mouth of David. The Holy Spirit spoke through the mouth of David. Acts 8, 29, the Spirit told Philip, go to that chariot and stay near it. Revelation 2, verses 7 and 11, he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. And verse 11, he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. So the Holy Spirit is continually speaking. Well, of course, he’s our guide, our teacher, our counselor. How is he going to communicate that to us except through words? He speaks. He also testifies or gives witness. John 15, 26. When the counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify. So the Holy Spirit is constantly giving testimony or witness to us. And in Romans, the Holy Spirit bears witness. Romans chapter 8. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. So the Holy Spirit is in us and a witness. And you know that’s the primary way the Holy Spirit will lead us in the will of God. is by giving witness in our spirit. So we need to learn to be sensitive to that inner witness. The world calls it a gut feeling. Really, that’s a good description. But it’s the Holy Spirit in there, in your inner man, giving a witness. This is right or this is wrong. Do this, don’t do this. You know, the world will say, I just had the feeling, I had a gut feeling that I shouldn’t do that. I shouldn’t go there. I just knew I shouldn’t have, or I should have done that. I just should have been there, you know. And what was that? That was the witness of the Spirit. That is the primary, number one way the Holy Spirit leads us. He doesn’t speak with an audible voice. Very often, very rarely does he speak with an audible voice. Once in a while, he speaks with the inner voice. But that’s even different than the witness. The witness is the number one way the Holy Spirit guides. It’s a witness on the inside that testifies something is right or wrong. Yes or no. Good or bad. Go, don’t go. Do it, don’t do it. And learn to follow that. Let that rule over your head. Yes, reason, calculate, and get facts. But in the end, final decision, do not make decisions with your head. Make your decisions by following the witness in your spirit. Because the Holy Spirit knows the future. Tomorrow, all the facts could change. All the facts could change tomorrow. And the Holy Spirit knows it. And so he can bear witness in your spirit what is right and wrong. So learn to follow that. That’s the number one way the Holy Spirit will lead you is with the witness. And so I was quoting Romans 8, 16. It’s right here. The spirit himself testifies or bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. And then the Holy Spirit also gives commands. Acts 13.2, the Holy Spirit said, these were to the disciples, set apart for me Barnabas and Saul. It was an instruction. Acts 13.4, then the two of them sent on their way by the Holy Spirit went down to Seleucia. So the Holy Spirit sent them. They were set apart and then they were sent by the Holy Spirit. And then what else does a person do? As the actions of a person, the Holy Spirit works miracles. I already mentioned Genesis 1, verse 2. The Holy Spirit hovered over the face of the deep, and that was when God was recreating and reforming the earth. And then Acts 8.39, when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away. The Spirit took him away, and he appeared in another place far away. And then Romans 15, verses 18 and 19, what Christ has accomplished through me by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. And I can go back, actually, we were looking at the gifts of the Spirit and in 1 Corinthians 12, and we looked at the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits, but there are also three power gifts. There’s the gift of faith, the working of miracles, and gifts of healings. And those are three power gifts. Three power gifts. And then there’s three speaking gifts. There are three speaking gifts, three knowledge gifts, and three power gifts. And those are all the manifestations of the Spirit. Okay, there’s the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits. Those are the knowledge or intellectual gifts. Intelligence. And then there are the power gifts, the gift of faith, the working of miracles, and gifts of healings. Those are the power gifts. And then the speaking gifts are tongues, interpretation of tongues, and prophecy. Tongues, interpretation of tongues, and prophecy. So there we see the spirit speaking, the spirit having intelligence, and the spirit having power. And so back to Romans 15, 19, by the power of signs and miracles through the power of the Spirit. And then we see finally, this will be our last point for tonight. We see the Holy Spirit does also have relationships like a person. He is in a social structure with the Father and the Son. And he has relationship with the Father and the Son. Here we see creation, Genesis 1, 1 through 3, and the three of them working together. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was over the surface of the deep. The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, let there be light. There was light. And Jesus is the Word made flesh. So God said that’s Jesus in manifestation. the Word made flesh. And so Jesus is the Word. And so we see Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in creation. We also see the relationship in Matthew 3.16. We see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit As soon as Jesus was baptized in the river, he went up out of the water. At that moment, heaven was opened and Jesus and also John the Baptist was there as a witness and the crowd was witnessing. He saw the spirit of God descending like a dove. and lighting on him. So there we have the relationship of the spirit and the father. And the father spoke out of heaven. A voice came and said, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. So we see Jesus is baptized. He comes out of the water. The spirit of God comes upon him. There’s relationship. And then Luke 4, 18, Jesus said, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me. So Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit. So that’s relationship with the Father and the Son. And then we see his relationship with believers in 2 Corinthians 13, 14. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God And the fellowship. fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Fellowship, fellowship, relationship, social relationship, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. So the Holy Spirit wants relationship with you. He wants fellowship with you. So we’re studying the Holy Spirit. Who is he? He is a person. He has relationship and fellowship with the Father and the Son. But he wants fellowship and relationship with you. He wants fellowship with you. He wants to talk with you. He wants you to talk to him. He can talk to you. Share thoughts and ideas. And spend time together in his presence. Spending time with the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. And you know, as you mature in the Lord, you can learn… to distinguish when you are talking to God the Father, when you’re talking to Jesus the Son, and when you’re talking to the Holy Spirit. And you can even learn when they are talking to you. You can learn to recognize that’s the voice of the Father. This is the voice of Jesus. This is the voice of the Holy Spirit. You can develop in that awareness capacity knowing their voices and having relationship with each person of the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, individually as well as corporately. Yes, they’re all together when you’re in prayer. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can come on you. In a church service, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can come on you. In a corporate meeting, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can be manifesting and moving. But you can also learn to know each one Talk to the Father. Listen to Him talking to you. Talk to Jesus the Son. Listen to Him talking to you. And talk to the Holy Spirit. And listen to the Holy Spirit talking to you. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Let Him fellowship with you. Develop your relationship and your fellowship with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen? Amen. What you just heard was the conclusion of part two that I preached in a series of messages in our victorious faith services called Who is the Holy Spirit? And we will begin message three in that series tomorrow. So join me again tomorrow. And remember, God loves you. You are blessed and highly favored by the Lord.
