In this episode of International Gospel Hour, we delve deep into the unchangeable nature of God, exploring His characteristics and understanding the significant things God will not do according to His divine nature. From the truthfulness of God’s word to His unwavering justice, host Jeff Archie takes us on a reflective journey through the Scriptures. Listen in as we explore the foundations of faith, examining passages that emphasize the power and limits of God, and why recognizing His truth matters in our lives.
SPEAKER 01 :
Oh, the sweet little child will begin a prayer. God is great. And indeed He is. The Almighty. But you know, friends, there are some things God will not do. Stay with us right here as we think on those things. Right here from the International Gospel Hour.
SPEAKER 03 :
Hi, this is Jay Webb for International Gospel Hour. Welcome to our broadcast today. For over 90 years, Churches of Christ have proclaimed God’s Word through our broadcasts. Just ahead is another Bible-based lesson with Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour. Let’s begin.
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, thank you to our J-Web. And greetings and hello, everyone. Great having you with us once again for our studies from the International Gospel Hour. Before we get into our study today, I want to mention something. I try to mention this from time to time. But when you listen to our broadcast or view our broadcast, we will not ask you for your money. We will offer a number of Bible tools for your study and access, but we will not ask for your money. Friends, we appreciate so many individuals and churches of Christ that will help us with our broadcast. And so we don’t want to sell our material on the air to you. We’re grateful that you’ve tuned in. We’re grateful that you request the study material. And we hope it will help you in a closer walk with the Lord or to bring you to Jesus Christ. As you study the things that we bring forth, maybe you see some things that you’ve always been taught that the Bible is saying otherwise. We will hope we will help you in your walk with God and to do His bidding, to walk in His will and His way. Speaking of God, consider with me just a few characteristics of God Almighty. From the very beginning of the Bible, Genesis 1 and verse 1, He is all-powerful. He created the worlds and all therein. He is all-present. We note that from Psalm 139, verses 7 and 8. He is all-knowing, Psalm 147 and verse 5. And to this very moment, He is in control, Hebrews 1, 1 and 2. We praise Him that He is of great mercy, but also recognize His severity, Romans 11 and verse 22. And knowing the characteristics of God, we know and we are reminded what God can do and what God will do for us. For with God nothing shall be impossible, Luke 1, verse 37. And the Lord asked of himself, Is anything too hard for the Lord, Genesis 18, verse 14? Of course, the answer is rhetorical. There’s nothing too hard for the Lord. But I also love Jeremiah 32, verses 17 and 27. Jeremiah 32, 17, Ah, Lord God, behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you. And then later in verse 27, Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me? Well, friends, the answer to that is no. But we’ll keep those texts in their proper context. And you know, the Bible clearly affirms the greatness of God and His power and what He will do and what He can do. But have you ever considered what God will not do? There are some things God will not do because they are against His very nature. Let’s continue our study in a moment as we talk about what God will not do. But first… As we do from time to time, sharing with you material we receive from co-laborers of the gospel, we have some very special material from our friends at Apologetic Express of Montgomery, Alabama. SPEAKER 01 :

We’ve been blessed with a number of these. So when you call and request, just add and say valor to, and we’ll send it to you right away. Now, what God will not do. Friends, God will not and cannot lie. That’s affirmed in Titus 1 in verse 2. God who cannot lie. He has given us truth through the Son, Jesus Christ. As Jesus said in John 14, 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. And how God’s word is truth, John 17 and verse 17. How they are to be sanctified through truth. Thy word is truth. And in 2 Timothy 2 and verse 15, to give diligence, to show ourselves approved unto God, workmen that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, that we can take the word of truth to make sure it is accurate as it is accurate, but accurate in our lives. We know what God says He will do. He’s not willing that any man should perish, but all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3 and verse 9. You see, Satan is the father of lies. That’s how Jesus defined him in John 8, 44. Satan is a deceiver, Revelation 20 and verse 10. So it’s with Satan where the lies begin, not with God. God will not and God cannot lie. And with that assurance… We know His word is truth. His promises are true. And all He says He will do for us, He will carry through. Amen. I love 2 Corinthians 1 and verse 20. The promises of God are yes. What God will not do, He will not and cannot lie. How about number two? What God will not do, well friends, He will not and He cannot overlook sin. God did not overlook the sin of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3, nor of Nadab and Abihu in Leviticus 10, 1 and 2, or the sin of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5, 1 through 11. We are reminded and assured of the words from Numbers 32, 23, Be sure your sin will find you out. From the prophet Habakkuk in Habakkuk 1, 12 and 13, Are you not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, you have appointed them for judgment. O rock, you have marked them for correction. You are of purer eyes than to behold evil and cannot look on wickedness. Why do you look on those who deal treacherously and hold your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he? Well, friends, God will not overlook sin. He sent his Son in order that we might live, John 3 and verse 16. And He made His Son to be sin for us that we might have hope. 2 Corinthians 5 and verse 21. God will not and cannot overlook sin. Friends, He has done everything that you and I will not live lives of sin. He sent Jesus to die for us. And He will not simply overlook sin because we make the choice to be sinful. Notice with me a third area, what God will not and cannot do. He will not and cannot save one without the blood of Christ. You see, all cleansing is due to the blood of Christ, Matthew 26, 28. And it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, Hebrews 9, 27, and the first part of verse 28. Paul told the church at Ephesus, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1 and verse 7. One must have the saving, cleansing blood of Christ in one’s life in order to be saved. Oh, friends, when we think about faith in Jesus Christ, as he said, unless you believe that I am he, you shall die in your sins. John 8, verse 24. How he taught us the beauty of repentance in Luke 13, verse 3. And confession in Matthew 10, 32 and 33. And then the command of baptism based upon our faith in Mark 16, 16. And preached on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, verse 38. Someone says, well, if you’re baptized into water, what about the blood of Christ? Friends, water is the element that we use, but it’s not the power to save. It’s the element we use above the command to be baptized. But when we’re baptized into His death, immersed into His death, Romans 6, 3 and following, it’s at His death the blood was shed. What a beautiful thought that when one is baptized into Christ and raised to walk in newness of life, that the blood of Jesus Christ will cleanse their sins and will continue to cleanse their sins as they walk in the light. 1 John 1 and verse 7. Oh friends, how we are thankful what God will not and cannot do for our lives. Have we prompted you to think about the greatness of God and would you like to study more about Would you like to bring your life in accordance with His will? We will not part from our broadcast without sharing with you our free Bible study course that’s available by mail. That’s right. We’ll send it to you free. Friends, knowing what God will not and cannot do, let us be thankful. He cannot lie so we can depend on Him and know His Word is truth.
