In this episode of the International Gospel Hour, we explore the pivotal question, ‘What will you do with Jesus?’ Throughout history, from Judas to the apostles, the choices surrounding Jesus have shaped faith and destiny. This study dives into scriptural references and historical decisions to emphasize the importance of accepting Jesus in our lives today.
SPEAKER 01 :
It was Pilate who asked, What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ? What did others do with Jesus? Well, what will you do with Jesus, dear friend? That’s our study today from the International Gospel Hour. Please stay with us.
SPEAKER 02 :
Hi, this is Jay Webb for International Gospel Hour. We’re so glad you’ve decided to listen to our program today. In a world of challenges, we need God’s Word to help us face those challenges. Thank you for joining us in this period of Bible study with our speaker, Jeff Archie of International Gospel Hour, a broadcast of the Churches of Christ. So let’s listen today.
SPEAKER 01 :
Here’s Jeff. Well, greetings, everyone, and great having you with us once again for our broadcast from the International Gospel Hour. You know, we’ve been on the air since 1934, and we’re blessed to be on the air, and we are appreciative of you, our listeners, that keep us pressing onward. We also appreciate our J-Web and his kind words, and you will hear from J throughout our broadcast. You know, we’ve spent the past few broadcasts of our study of God’s Word with what we have called long-time sheet lessons. Now, if you’re not familiar with that term, sheet lessons were used by preachers years and years ago. They would paint their sermon or print their sermon on a bed sheet and would hang it up and teach or preach from it. I guess you could call it a forerunner of PowerPoint. And friends, what’s special, we have a number of these that we love to share and study with here from International Gospel Hour. And you can see the lesson today on our social media pages. If you are a Facebooker, if you will, you’re on Facebook, go to International Gospel Hour. Feel free to follow our page. You can see the lesson, What Will I Do With Jesus? If you are on Instagram, that is also go to International Gospel Hour. You can see the same. X, formerly known as Twitter, go to H-O-U-R underscore gospel, and you can follow us there as well. Now our lesson today, as mentioned moments ago, is what will you do with Jesus? You know, there are many individuals this very hour who follow him, and sadly many more who reject him. But we’re going to look at the decisions of others in the Bible. What did they do with Jesus? And let’s apply therein. But before we begin, a few words about a good work done. that we love to observe and honor here at International Gospel Hour. Here is our Jay Webb with the details.

SPEAKER 01 :
What will I do with Jesus? Well, Judas, he corrected or he sold out Jesus. Now, speaking of correction here, if you see our sheet lesson, the scriptures on it are not correct. It would be Matthew 26, verses 14 through 16, where he sold out Jesus, and his regret of what he did and then took his life is Matthew 27, verses 8 and 9. Judas sold out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Today, how many will sell out Jesus for other things that have greater interest to them? We see Judas’ fall. Remember, if we sell out Jesus, we will fall the same way. What about what will I do with Jesus? Well, the Jews crucified him. We see that in Matthew 27, verses 11 through 30. And also, today there are those who will crucify Jesus again by going back to their old ways, Hebrews 6, 4 through 6. Let’s learn this lesson from the Jews and not crucify the Son of God afresh. What will I do with Jesus? Well, His disciples? Let’s consider. Peter in Mark 14, 54 through 72, he sold out Jesus. He did forsake him. And you know, through inspiration in 2 Peter 2 and verse 1, Peter was well equipped to write those words of those false teachers who would deny the Lord that bought them. In 2 Timothy 2 and verse 12, we are reminded that if we deny Him, He will deny us. You see, disciples or followers of Jesus can forsake Him. They can also deny Him and walk away from Him. Friends, we learned this lesson from Peter. Here’s the words. Peter came back. Many more do not. What will I do with Jesus? Well, let’s talk about those disciples that would walk no more with Him. In Matthew 26 and verse 56, there were His disciples that fled from the garden when they came to take Jesus. Of course, they came back. other than Judas, came back and preached the gospel to the whole world. Sadly, there were those in John chapter 6, verses 54 through 68, who turned away as they walked with the Lord. In Acts 4, verses 11 and 12, we find that Peter is preaching of Christ and says of Christ, This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved. So friends, if we fail to walk with Jesus and turn away from him, we will face the same fate as those before. What will I do with Jesus? Well, Saul in Acts chapter 9 verses 3 through 5 heard the rebuke from the Lord and he asked Jesus in Acts 9 verse 6, what will you have me to do? In Galatians chapter 1 and verse 13, Paul spoke of his former life as Saul when he said, For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. Saul persecuted Jesus and his followers. But oh, how he turned and became the Apostle Paul through obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ. When Jesus told him what he would have him to do, he sent Ananias to him. Ananias spoke with him. And I love Acts 22, 16 that says, And Saul, why do you tarry? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Let’s continue. What will I do with Jesus? Well, Felix would say, go for now. When there’s a more convenient time, I’ll call for you. Acts 24 and verse 24. But friends, we find nowhere in the scripture where Felix obeyed the gospel. We must remember that life is like the grass of the field, 1 Peter 1 verse 24. It’s here today, it’s gone tomorrow. And according to Hebrews 3 verses 12 through 15, if we hear Him today, don’t harden our hearts, but hear and obey. What about Agrippa in Acts 26? You know, good intentions are simply not enough. Agrippa said, almost you persuade me to be a Christian, was his reply to Paul. Dear friends, we cannot be almost there. I’ve seen individuals who knew what they needed to do and just would not make the decision. How tragic that is. We must learn from Agrippa and what he did with Jesus. What will I do with Jesus? Well, Pilate, as we noted earlier, he asked, what will I do with Jesus who is called Christ? But Pilate, in Matthew 12 and verse 30, he was one who was neutral. And when we think of that text, we cannot be neutral. We must accept Jesus Christ. If we wash our hands of Him, which we still have responsibility, just like Pilate did, that will not work. But what about those on Pentecost? In Acts chapter 2, when they heard the preaching of the gospel, they obeyed the commands of the Lord, John 14, verse 15. Those on the day of Pentecost, they accepted. So when we ask them, what will you do with Jesus? They accepted him. They obeyed the gospel. They responded as they repented and they were baptized for the remission of sins. Acts 2 and verse 38. That day many received his word and were baptized. Acts 2 verse 41. They were added to the church. What will I do with Jesus? Well, the prodigal son came home. And you know, the prodigal son came home in Luke 15. Think about how the father placed a robe upon him, a ring on his finger, shoes on his feet. And then let’s think about when we were to come back. Or the blessing of how we are clothed in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5, 2 and 3. For in this we groan earnestly. Desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. We want to be clothed in Christ. Peter said, You are the Christ. Thomas said, My Lord and my God. Friends, when you think about it, Christ stands before us. And one day we will stand before him. And the question will be, what did you do with me? Friends, have we given you some things to think about? The best answer is what we will do with Jesus is obey him. You know, we have a Bible course by mail. Maybe we are prompting you to think about some things and you’re looking for those answers from the Bible. Here is our J-Web with those details.
