Keep you. And before Kimberly comes on, I want to give our memory verse for this week. It’s from Lamentations 322 and 23. I love this verse. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases his mercies, his mercies never come to an end. That means when you slip and fall or you falter. Ah, his mercies.
00:02:48 Barbara
And love just cover that in Jesus name. Hallelujah. They are new every morning. Ohh great is your faithfulness Lord great is your faithfulness. Welcome to call to freedom Kimber.
00:03:01 Kimberly
Thank you. Oh, I love that verse. It’s one of my favorites, and I found myself playing that old hymn. Well, it’s not a hymn, but it it’s an older worship song. I was playing it quite a bit last week, and the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end.
00:03:21 Kimberly
They are new every morning, new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Oh, Lord great is your faithfulness.
00:03:23 Barbara
Yes.
00:03:26 Barbara
Yes, yes. Aren’t you glad you learned those verses when you were younger and especially during the 80s and 90s? Oh, they had actual quotes from the Bible. They were putting to music.
00:03:39 Kimberly
Yeah, for work, right, right.
00:03:40 Barbara
Those are verses I remember. I do. Yes, yes, word for word.
00:03:45 Kimberly
Yeah, I I enjoy reading Bible stories and stories about David Daniel Joseph II like trying to imagine. Well, even remembering back to my own childhood and imagining.
00:03:59 Kimberly
Being back in a place in a time where.
00:04:02 Kimberly
Everything was quieter and simpler, and we were just, you know, I think maybe there are some childhoods, you know, some of you out there can remember your childhood was much simpler than today is. And it wasn’t as busy. There are other children that are just.
00:04:23 Kimberly
Busy from from the time that they hit toppler states you know they’re they are being taught and being trained and there’s a lot of business that can happen even in a childhood that was looking at Isaiah 30, verse 50.
00:04:40 Kimberly
Pane.
00:04:42 Kimberly
I just opened the tanak here and it says thus says the Lord God, the holy one of Israel.
00:04:49 Kimberly
It says this says my Lord God.
00:04:54 Kimberly
I I like that the Tannock actually has that personalized this says, my Lord God, the holy one of Israel, you shall triumph by stillness and quiet. Your victory shall come about through calm and confidence.
00:05:12 Barbara
Yes.
00:05:14 Kimberly
The New American Standard version of that verse says thus says the Lord God, the holy one of Israel. He has said in repentance and rest you will be saved in quietness and trust is your strength.
00:05:28 Barbara
Yeah.
00:05:30 Kimberly
But you were not willing. And in the Tanakh it says but you refused. I think it’s really difficult for us as human beings to let ourselves be quiet.
00:05:44 Kimberly
To let ourselves just rest and trust that is hard it I’m finding it’s taking me a lot of energy to just quiet myself and get to that place where I will not let myself be run by stress run by.
00:05:47
Yeah.
00:06:03 Kimberly
I know there are schedules to keep and routines in this world, I understand.
00:06:07 Kimberly
On that. But is that what we want to prioritize? I think that is exactly the thing that has brought unrest and anxiety and stress and pain. And is that really how we want to live? So looking back to what God originally intended for us, some of us can look to our childhood for that.
00:06:29 Kimberly
You know, and just.
00:06:30 Kimberly
Oh yeah, I had more time to.
00:06:32 Kimberly
Just pet a Kitty cat or enjoy running and playing with a dog. Or I remember just taking blades of grass and putting them between my thumbs and blowing on them and making making little instruments out of blades of grass. Yes, I.
00:06:48
It’s.
00:06:51 Kimberly
Don’t do that anymore.
00:06:53 Barbara
Well, no, of course not. You’re you’re a Mama and you’re a wife and.
00:06:58 Barbara
I’d like you to go down to the 18th verse of that same chapter in Isaiah, Kimberly, because this is the very heart of God. This is his character and he said, you know, all the people are saying no, we will flee on horses. We’re going to busy ourselves with the worldly things. And in the 18th verse of Isaiah 30, he says therefore the Lord longs.
00:07:18 Barbara
To be gracious to you. And therefore he waits on high to have compassion on you, even though we’re faltering, we’re flailing, we’re failing. He is longing to have compassion.
00:07:31 Barbara
On us, every one of us, he knows exactly when to reach out to us and when we will yield to him and rest in him. I love that I love that character of God.
00:07:42 Kimberly
I’m so glad you read down there. Yes, thank you for that. Truly, that the to not says truly the Lord is waiting.
00:07:45 Barbara
Yeah.
00:07:52 Barbara
Waiting.
00:07:53 Kimberly
Probably the Lord is waiting.
00:07:56 Kimberly
Being.
00:07:56 Kimberly
To show you Grace truly, he will arise to pardon you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Happy are all who wait for him.
00:08:09 Kimberly
There it is, the waiting and waiting. You’ve got to rest. You just have to trust and and be at peace. Be in quietness as you wait. That’s a good way to wait to quiet your spirit and quiet your heart.
00:08:10 Barbara
Yes.
00:08:14 Barbara
That’s right.
00:08:20 Barbara
Yes.
00:08:24 Barbara
That’s right. Praise God. That’s like, so many of us in these last four years regarding our our government.
00:08:31 Barbara
We were on the waiting list. We were waiting and waiting and waiting and God just really flowed it through the country with such a great victory, I can’t still, Kimberly, I can’t comprehend at all.
00:08:45 Kimberly
Well, OK I I I am in agreement with you. You know that. You know my feelings on this too.
00:08:52 Kimberly
And the compassion in me realizes and recognizes that there are many who don’t see this as a victory, and what we need to do as believers when when we choose to say that we recognize God in our lives, that we have a relationship with him.
00:08:59 Barbara
That’s right.
00:09:12 Kimberly
Then, and even if you’re calling yourself spiritual, if you are a spiritual person, then you’ve got some relationship going on with the divine. One who created all of this so.
00:09:25 Barbara
That’s right.
00:09:27 Kimberly
And and recognizing that it’s so good to recognize then that he is on the throne, he has not left this just careening out of control. He is in control and he’s on the throne and he knows what he’s doing. And I think when we put ourselves on the waiting list.
00:09:47 Kimberly
I like how you said that when we put ourselves on the waiting list, we can quietly sit and trust. That’s what we do at a restaurant. Yes, you know, we’re out on a waiting list.
00:09:54 Barbara
Right.
00:09:58 Kimberly
To be seated at the table and we quietly sit. You know, we don’t stomp around and throw a tantrum and cry and tear our hair out and wonder, right?
00:10:07 Barbara
Well, some some do. Yeah.
00:10:11 Kimberly
Well, OK, most don’t. At a restaurant. You know, most of us understand how that works, and we just sit down and wait our turn. And I love this verse that says the Lord is waiting. Truly, the Lord is waiting. And what is he waiting on? He’s waiting for us.
00:10:30 Kimberly
To learn how to wait on him.
00:10:33 Barbara
That’s right. Amen. Praise God. Wow.
00:10:36 Barbara
Oh, that is so beautiful.
00:10:37 Kimberly
We’re made for relationship with him. Yeah, and I, Daniel is one of my favorite people to read about and and understand that he had a tight relationship.
00:10:48 Kimberly
You know a.
00:10:49 Kimberly
Really tight relationship with God for to be thrown in the lions den and for the Lord to say yeah, no, I’m not going to let.
00:10:55 Kimberly
That happen to you, let’s just.
00:10:57 Kimberly
Knows all these lions mouth hey.
00:10:59 Kimberly
You know there.
00:11:00 Kimberly
Had to be a lot of lions in that lions den because there were 120.
00:11:08 Kimberly
Of these other leaders that were trying to get Daniel in trouble and all of them and their wives and their children were thrown into that Lion’s den and immediately crushed by the Lions, there had to be a lot of lions in that lions den.
00:11:12 Barbara
MHM.
00:11:23 Barbara
Yes.
00:11:28 Barbara
Very hungry lions. You know, I can. I can compare this to President Trump, Kimberly.
00:11:28 Kimberly
So.
00:11:30 Kimberly
Yes.
00:11:34 Barbara
That he has had lions coming at him for years and he has just stood his ground and now today I heard that Jack Smith who brought all these charges against President Trump is resigning. I mean, things are just falling into place. Rachel is raising her hands. Yes, we see as.
00:11:54 Barbara
We go into those metaphorically as we go into those lions dens. Or if there is such danger confronting us, God is right there to keep those mouths from doing their damage. Ohh, it’s so wonderful that we have that same God.
00:12:04 Kimberly
Yes.
00:12:10 Barbara
Who prevented the lions from?
00:12:12 Barbara
That’s right. Many years ago. Thousands. Yes, he’s the same God today.
00:12:16 Kimberly
That’s right. And Kaylee, he is waiting to show you grace.
00:12:21
Yeah.
00:12:24 Barbara
It is so good.
00:12:25 Kimberly
John 15 verses one through 4. I’m going to read this from the passion translation.
00:12:33 Kimberly
Jesus is speaking and he says I am the vine and the farmer who tends the vine is my father.
00:12:41 Kimberly
He cares for the branches connected to me by lifting and propping up the fruitless branches and pruning every fruitful branch to yield a greater harvest. The words I have spoken over you have already cleansed and pruned you so.
00:13:01 Kimberly
You must remain in life union with me, grafted into me.
00:13:08 Kimberly
For I remain in life union with you.
00:13:10 Barbara
Oh.
00:13:13 Barbara
Wow.
00:13:14 Kimberly
I’m just going to stop there for a moment because going back to the idea that truly the Lord is waiting.
00:13:22 Kimberly
He’s waiting for us. He remains in life union with us. He made a covenant with his people and he is not a covenant breaker. He keeps his covenants, he keeps his promises. So trying to imagine what is that like for Jesus?
00:13:36 Barbara
That’s right.
00:13:43 Kimberly
To remain in life union with you.
00:13:46 Kimberly
Today, you know, if you’re getting mad in the traffic right now, what does that look like for your best friend who’s living in you and through you, you’re never alone, you know? So what are you walking through today that might cause some negative emotions to rise up?
00:14:06 Kimberly
And if those emotions rise up, then what are you doing with those emotions? Are you going to your best friend? Are you going to do?
00:14:14 Kimberly
Us and your remaining in life union with him so that he can help guide you and direct you through through the stuff that’s truly confusing, chaotic and turbulent it it can produce a lot of turmoil in our lives. But we’re not alone.
00:14:27 Barbara
Yes.
00:14:34 Kimberly
He is in life union with us. He remains with us. He’s waiting. So what would that be like to really listen to, to realize. Wait, I have somebody else right here with me and this mouth.
00:14:52 Kimberly
Is his mouth and this mind with these thoughts going through my mind, that’s his mind.
00:14:59 Barbara
MHM.
00:14:59 Kimberly
This body is his sanctuary. He calls it his sanctuary. So is it looking like a sanctuary today because Jesus says that we must remain in life union with him because he remains in life union with us.
00:15:04 Barbara
Yes.
00:15:19 Kimberly
This is from John 15 and I’m going to go on to verse 4. It says for as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit. So your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine.
00:15:19 Barbara
Yes.
00:15:37 Barbara
Isn’t that beautiful? Wow. I remember when you and Matthew came in October and you spent four days and you went through the whole property that that I live.
00:15:47 Barbara
On and you were sizing up everything that needed to be pruned, and you got like 11 or 12 bundles of branches that you severed, you pruned. And I’m so grateful you did then because with this heavy snow, we had this last week, Kimberly, some of the more branches would have been down than just the two huge.
00:16:08 Barbara
Limbs in the backyard and so I’m grateful that you came and you pruned that that gives the plant a whole new life when you get rid of the stuff that’s dead and broken and.
00:16:20 Barbara
Is is I’m grateful. And so that’s when we do, when we do realize that though that God is pruning us, it’s painful. We’re going through pain. We really are and.
00:16:30 Kimberly
It is.
00:16:33 Kimberly
Yeah.
00:16:35 Kimberly
You’re right about that and I think it’s obvious to me that there’s revival.
00:16:40 Kimberly
Going on right now and I just keep praying that all of us will be able to see that revival. There’s like a fresh wind and a fresh spirit. There’s an awakening happening. And and it’s really fun. It’s fun to see, but it’s also a little disorienting.
00:16:57 Kimberly
There’s there’s something about it that causes us to feel like, huh, I wasn’t expecting this, but it awakened us. It’s so, I think sometimes the pruning does that the pruning it causes us to be stronger and a little more awake to what’s really going on and.
00:17:15 Barbara
Ohh, you’re right. You’re so right. Ohh.
00:17:19 Kimberly
That strength is so good, but it it doesn’t.
00:17:22 Kimberly
Feel really great.
00:17:24 Kimberly
You know, but strength.
00:17:25 Kimberly
Does come when pruning happens, strength will follow and I I think maybe revival and this disorientation right now is kind of coming hand in hand. I wasn’t expecting that.
00:17:38 Kimberly
You know, and I’m not sure that the Great awakening of years.
00:17:42 Kimberly
Last was ever described that way. It just seemed to awaken but not cause a disorientation. I think the disorientation right now is people wondering. Wait. Now what do I do with my life? You know? Now, what do I do with all this social media with this phone that I carry in my pocket and people are constantly trying to get a hold of me.
00:18:03 Kimberly
What do I do?
00:18:05 Kimberly
And and did I. Was I doing things well before I’ve been awakened?
00:18:10 Kimberly
Or do I need to start rethinking things? There’s kind of a lost feeling or feelings of unsurely that I’m that I’m looking at and watching, even in my own life, you know, and just saying, huh, that’s interesting. That I feel unsure or insecure or overwhelmed.
00:18:30 Barbara
MHM.
00:18:31 Kimberly
And all of that can lead us to the quietness and rest that we’re longing for, you know, all of it can lead us to a place where we need the pruning. We need to just sit and now heal and listen calmly and quietly.
00:18:37 Barbara
Yeah.
00:18:51 Kimberly
And in that listening, we can find ourselves waiting on the Lord and waiting for his instruction. He is the vine. Jesus is the.
00:19:00 Kimberly
Vine and where the branches of the vine and all of that life from Jesus is flowing through us. We want to be able to hear what he has planned instead of just running straight ahead with our plan. So I think that’s why we’re a little bit confused some of us.
00:19:13 Barbara
That’s right.
00:19:20 Kimberly
And disoriented because we are realizing wait, some of my plans need to be set aside, and that happened even in my kitchen. The new cabinets that were put in.
00:19:31 Kimberly
Then they are a standard depth, but my old cabinets were deeper because they were custom and so many of the items that I boxed up and put in storage during the renovation, they don’t fit on my new shelves. They don’t fit in my new cabinets.
00:19:51 Kimberly
That’s a little disorienting. You know, it’s like it’s the same thing with this awakening, this revival coming in.
00:19:53 Barbara
Yes.
00:19:59 Kimberly
Some of the old stuff we’ve been doing just doesn’t fit with this new revival that’s coming to us and and so maybe that’s confusing and maybe that’s a little bit hard for us, but it’s OK. It’s leading us to quietness where we can just sit and breathe and figure out, OK.
00:20:03
That’s.
00:20:05 Barbara
Yeah, that’s right.
00:20:18 Kimberly
You’ve been waiting on me, Lord. Wow. You know, I’m just thinking about that right now. As I say it. God, you’ve been waiting.
00:20:27 Kimberly
Help us learn how to wait on you. Help us have that blessed life of waiting on you. If you have something to say, I’m going to let you say.
00:20:30 Barbara
Yes.
00:20:36 Kimberly
It because I’m getting emotional, right?
00:20:37 Barbara
Now what you’re saying? That reminds me of the man who was walking on my limb from the house to the tree. I mean, this limb was huge.
00:20:48 Barbara
And he was walking and I said, how did you do that? And he says you have to work very slowly. And all my life has been so.
00:20:56 Barbara
Ohh running running all the time, Kimberly.
00:21:00 Barbara
I I remember when I was married to well, I’m still married to Darren, but when Darren was here on this Earth and he would, he would do some things spontaneously every day, something new. And I said you’re just jerking me around. I I was getting frustrated because every every day was something new and he was jerking me around and my emotions.
00:21:20 Barbara
We’re going all over the place and God wants us to settle in now and just take a big long.
00:21:26 Kimberly
Yeah.
00:21:28 Barbara
Breath and maybe drink some water, but take a a deep long breath and be sustained by Holy Spirit. Yeah, yes.
00:21:33 Kimberly
Right, right.
00:21:37 Kimberly
Yes, that’s good. Just take it slow. And when I think of Daniel and reading his story, I he must have just taken things. Roll methodically and slowly, you know, because others were rushing around him and especially King Nebuchadnezzar with his dreams.
00:21:40 Barbara
Yeah.
00:21:56 Kimberly
He just was in a rage, rushing.
00:21:58 Barbara
Yes.
00:22:00 Kimberly
To to actually execute all magicians and the.
00:22:07 Barbara
Off with your heads well off with your heads.
00:22:07 Kimberly
The people who helped them.
00:22:10 Kimberly
Yeah. And Daniel, he just quietly. He came in. Quietness. You’re right. But I like how you’re remembering the guy on the branch. If you if you run too quickly and do a job like that too fast, you could cause the.
00:22:11 Barbara
Oh my goodness.
00:22:26 Kimberly
Down.
00:22:26
That’s.
00:22:27 Kimberly
To be unbalanced with that branch and then cause more damage to the house, more damage to the tree. Take out some of the lines the.
00:22:29 Barbara
That’s right.
00:22:38 Kimberly
Myers. Yeah. So we do want to go quietly and softly and slowly. And in Daniel Chapter 6, the people who were upset with Daniel were trying to find fault in him. They really wanted to.
00:22:58 Kimberly
To have him arrested to to get him out of the picture.
00:23:02 Barbara
Yes.
00:23:03 Kimberly
And it says they could not find neither fault nor corruption. They could find neither fault nor corruption in as much as Daniel was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him.
00:23:11 Barbara
Four options.
00:23:19 Barbara
My goodness, yes.
00:23:21 Kimberly
I I just know that God is coming for a people who is pure.
00:23:26 Kimberly
Started a people who have no fault in them and yes, we make mistakes in this world. And yes, accidents happen in this life.
00:23:36 Kimberly
I believe the ones with no fault are the ones who continue to have conversation. Constant conversation with the Lord, the one we were made for, that we find ourselves waiting on him, just like he is waiting on us.
00:23:52 Kimberly
Us and I believe this is the season right now for us to have the same desire as Daniel to live so intimately joined to our God to know him, to think his thoughts and to manage our bodies of this sanctuary that he calls it, to manage it well, to manage it.
00:24:13 Kimberly
In quietness and peace, you know when you invite somebody to your home and you want them to find it a place of peace.
00:24:20 Kimberly
And rest, you know. Come, come. Enjoy my sanctuary in my backyard. That’s not where you’re going to be throwing tantrums and screaming and yelling and.
00:24:30 Barbara
I hope not.
00:24:33 Kimberly
Well, well, and and what are our thoughts and our mind doing to our sanctuary, you know is our.
00:24:40 Barbara
Do we have thoughts?
00:24:42 Kimberly
That are creating a sanctuary for Jesus for Holy Spirit to dwell and live.
00:24:49 Kimberly
And remain in our thoughts and enjoy his sanctuary.
00:24:54 Kimberly
I I know this is the season where he has more and more of us questioning what we’re doing in our life so that we can just quiet ourselves and say, OK, your word says I’m loved. Your word says you love me. You love me just the way I am.
00:25:15 Kimberly
So I want to just sit and enjoy that, you know, try practicing. Enjoying that today, incorporate that in your life.
00:25:26 Kimberly
Day.
00:25:27 Kimberly
Take a few moments to just breathe and enjoy what God has given you. If you’re in a really rough season right now and it looks like you can’t be thankful for what you have presently, then think back to a former time when you can say I am very thankful for what you gave me and look forward to what he has for your future.
00:25:49 Kimberly
Because he tells us that he knows the plans he has for us, they are plans for good.
00:25:55 Kimberly
There are plans to give us hope for our future.
00:25:58 Barbara
Yes, that’s right. Oh, praise God.
00:26:00 Kimberly
And we choose to believe that and we are at the end of our time already. How does that happen to us?
00:26:05 Barbara
I know. And you’ve got a song and so you’ve got to come back tomorrow to give us that song. It is so beautiful. It’s. Is it Cody that does the song? Yes. So we’re going to have to do that tomorrow, Kimberly.
00:26:17 Kimberly
Cory Asbury.
00:26:22 Barbara
Because it talks a lot about in the pain that we are in, his comfort is overwhelming his comfort over us is overwhelming, and we learn so much through this fellowship of suffering, as Paul said, in Philippians 310, in the fellowship of his suffering, that’s where we learn so.
00:26:42 Barbara
Right.
00:26:42 Barbara
So I invite you back tomorrow. I’m.
00:26:45 Barbara
Looking forward to it.
00:26:45 Kimberly
Well, thank you for that invitation. I look forward to that and I look forward to seeing what the Lord is doing in all of his people as he creates in.
00:26:48
OK.
00:26:53 Kimberly
