Wow. That’s a lot. We’ve been at this for a while now. Yes, we have. So thank you all for listening that do on a routine basis. We appreciate it. We get emails and comments and we appreciate each and every one of them. We’ll start today off with. Not the best of news. We saw the airplane crash at LaGuardia, not a crash in the air, but one on the ground. Still a lot of investigation going on. I’ve read so many things about it and there’s so many fingers being pointed so many different directions. It always cracks me up. Bob, I’ll start with you with the amount of so-called aviation experts that just come out of the woodwork and everybody knows exactly what happened and how it could have been avoided. And as I listen to the actual recordings, I’m like, you guys are listening to something completely different than I am.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, I know. And, you know, it’s interesting, too, watching the video of it. And it’s tragic, of course, because the two pilots died. And so we certainly need to recognize the gravity of it. But watching the video of the crash, there was a certain surreal nature to that. Because, you know, we’ve all seen videos of two cars crashing, you know, as a T-bone in an intersection or whatever. But you just don’t think of… a fire truck and a plane crossing each other, in essence, in what appears to be an intersection, and just hitting each other in that way. So it’s kind of a surreal thing to see. But, you know, I think the investigation, obviously, as they continue getting to the bottom of it, they’ll figure out who is it that really messed up. You got that one air traffic controller who said, you know, I messed up. And then another pilot is trying to let him off the hook going, no, you did the best you could. But So it does appear that a traffic controller called for the fire truck to go from point A to point B because point B, they had another plane with an odor problem that had to take care of. And so did the fire truck choose to take that route himself? Did the controller know that’s the route that he would take and then realized, oh, no, no, don’t take that route. And then the communication wasn’t happening. I don’t know. I mean, it’s a tragedy that they will investigate the daylights out of this, of course, as they should. But somehow, some way, the left and the media is going to tie this to the Department of Homeland Security being shut down, defunded, TSA running without it. Somehow, some way, they’ll find a way to connect it to that. even though I got to remind everybody, this is the Democrats DHS shutdown. It’s not the Republican shutdown. It’s the Democrat shutdown, no matter how many lies the Democrats try to tell.
SPEAKER 02 :
And real quick, and I do have, you guys probably don’t know this. I do actually have some experience on airport driving and have been through all of the, you know, certifications and the background checks and so on to actually, you know, be like in this case in the fire truck or another maintenance type truck and so on. And one of the problems that, that needs fixed frankly and i’ve watched some videos on this is they talk on two different channels you can’t tell that from the from the recordings from the tower but the fire truck doesn’t hear what the airplanes are hearing the airplanes don’t hear that the fire truck is there so they’re on two separate channels which by the way is a problem because frankly had either one of them heard that they were both going to be in the same place roughly at the same time, that may have actually prevented what just happened. But the way that works on the truck’s part, on the fire truck’s part, is before he crosses an active runway, he has to call in and get permission to cross that. And yes, there are already pre-distinguished routes and so on, Bob, that they have to take to go from A to B. And everybody knows where those are when you’re actually driving on the ground in the vehicles themselves, not in the planes, but in the vehicles. They’re taxiways just for vehicles.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, John, let me ask you, though. Go ahead. As a pilot, though, what could the pilots really do differently other than try to quickly pull up? And at that point, I don’t know that they could have.
SPEAKER 02 :
The only thing they could have said was had they heard that the truck was getting an okay to go across their runway, they might have been able to jump back in and say, hey, that’s the runway we’re landing on. Be careful. But they don’t know any of that’s going on because they can’t hear the other conversation, which, by the way, I think is really dumb. And I get why we do that. I mean, I understand that for all of you listening to say, well, why don’t we put it all on one channel? There’s a ton already going on with airplane traffic already, and then add all of the other ground things that people don’t think about. There’s a lot of ground stuff going on also that no one really ever sees, because that stuff’s kind of done, if you would, behind the scenes. And so I see both sides of it, Bob. I see why we don’t do you know, one channel. But I also know that if you did have one channel, this might have been avoided.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know what, John, though? One of the things that really struck me about the pilots in this case, and I admit I’m a total layman, so I’m ignorant to what pilot, what decisions they can make at the moment. But, you know, when you’re driving to anybody who’s driven in the country, knows that if a deer darts out in front of you, that you’re not supposed to swerve, because if you swerve, you run the risk of flipping your car, hitting another car, whatever the case may be. You have to keep your composure, slam on the brakes, and hit the deer going straight. And I know that here in Michigan, it’s deer country, and so we experience stuff like this all the time, right? And that’s one of the things, those pilots, I’ve got to imagine that there had to be at least a human instinctive desire to try to swerve. But they knew if they did that, that you’re just going to tip the plane. It could be way more disastrous if they did that. So it’s like keep it straight, hit the brakes, and that’s the best you can do.
SPEAKER 02 :
Mm-hmm. I’ll let you chime in, too, because it’s a miracle that no one else on board was killed besides the two pilots. I mean, I think what Bob is saying really gives those guys some huge attaboys. And, yes, they both passed, and our hearts and prayers go out to their families, of course. It’s always tragic any time there’s a loss of life.
SPEAKER 04 :
By the way, that flight attendant strapped into her chair.
SPEAKER 02 :
Amazing.
SPEAKER 04 :
And the chair gets ejected from the plane. She’s bouncing on the tarmac in her chair, and she survives.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yes. Amazing. I mean, amazing, guys. It’s amazing that it wasn’t a bigger tragedy than what it already was with two people dying, Neil. But again, we woke up to that, you know, for me, at least for you guys, I don’t know. But for me, Monday morning early and to see all of that news, it was just tragic.
SPEAKER 05 :
I heard one comment by an air traffic controller saying that there are, or maybe it was a former air traffic controller, but there are multiple levels of checks and balances that for any kind of situation like that to occur, that there has to be a number of breakdowns. You know, it looked like a simple enough mistake. You know, hey, I messed up, whatever, should have got it right. Uh, but you know, one article I saw, I think it was in the wall street journal indicated that there was, there was no staff shortage that contributed to this and, you know, how it all plays out. They’re going to figure that whole thing out. But, um, the bottom line is, uh, These kind of things obviously shouldn’t happen. What I just can’t fathom real quick is you mentioned driving in the country. If you’ve ever come to, you know, a train crossing on a sort of, you know, kind of solitary road out in the country or something, or even in the city, it doesn’t matter, but you come to where the, you know, the arms will go down, the red lights come on and the train goes by. i don’t trust those things i don’t so when i come i’m looking to the right into the left and if i don’t have a great field division maybe there’s a building there then i approach slowly to be able to see i want to be sure there’s no train coming i can’t imagine and i’m not pinning this on the fire truck driver he was given permission to cross that runway but how in the world can do you not look one way or the other and see oh my gosh and see a plane Yeah, with massive lights shining in your face, this thing’s coming down, and it’s going to be on you in like five seconds.
SPEAKER 02 :
How in the world did he not see that? Not to defend that, but if you look at the direction that he was headed and the fact that it sort of has an angle crossing over the runway at that point, and they’re not sure exactly where the two guys in that were positioned. It was one in front, one in back. There may have not been anybody looking out the right to even see the plane coming. And keep in mind, too, it was also dark and rainy.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah, the whole thing was absolute tragedy and too bad that anyone lost their life in it. But you’re 100% right. This thing could have been way bigger.

And again, guys, going back to just airline or airplane airport topic in general, I guess you could say really quick before we get to the TSA ice end of things. Did you guys see where Delta ended the perks for Congress? I guess in the past there’s been sort of this red carpet rollout where if you’re a politician, you know, you know. senator or congressperson and you’re flying, they roll out the red carpet, their special check-in, and they escort you and this, that, and the other. Well, Delta ended all of that yesterday until they actually get this thing figured out.
SPEAKER 05 :
I love it. I think it’s hilarious. Yeah, and that’s across the board. So every city that Delta flies.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, wherever Delta’s at where they would have normally have done that, which, you know, as you guys know, Delta’s really big on the East Coast. They’re not as big out here where we are, but they’re really big on the East Coast, which is where a lot of those guys.
SPEAKER 03 :
They’re big here. We’ve got a major hub here in Detroit Metro Airport.
SPEAKER 02 :
Delta’s the biggest hub we have. Anyways, I just thought that was interesting. We’ll see if other airlines do the same thing, but I thought that was pretty interesting. And by the way, these are the things that Americans find out about when things like this happen, that frankly, guys, Bob, no one knew this stuff was going on. I mean, I knew they got some special treatment, but not the stuff they were listing.
SPEAKER 04 :
I didn’t really know that they were getting that level of special treatment, actually. But, you know, I guess it doesn’t surprise me. And you know what, John? I’m probably going to have you and everybody in the audience disagree with me here. But I’m not really offended by members of Congress having some special perks like that. You know, you’re serving the country. You’re a member of Congress. You know, I’m the guy who’s like… You know, if a police officer gets his meal comped, it’s like, good, he deserves it. You know, if a member of Congress is getting some special treatment because there are representatives in Congress, I don’t mind giving perks to people in positions of leadership or whatever. Yeah, I know. I’m not just going to say, hey, but that only applies to the Republicans, not the Democrats. So I’m the guy that doesn’t necessarily fault the perks for the VIPs, whoever they may be.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, the way I look at that is each airline can do whatever they feel like they want to do. Sure. Oh, no, absolutely.
SPEAKER 04 :
I got enough libertarian in me to say let them make the decision. It’s definitely not a government decision. And if Delta chooses to do that, that’s fine. I’m just not saying – I don’t want to cop that attitude of people that are in leadership, people that make more money than me, people that whatever. It’s like, good, good. They’re getting knocked down a peg to the same level as I do. I just deliberately try not to have that attitude about VIPs getting special treatment that I don’t necessarily get. You’re a better man than me, Bob.
SPEAKER 05 :
That’s all I got to say.
SPEAKER 02 :
All right. Let’s talk about ICE, TSA, the things that are going on there. As everybody by now should know, Monday morning they sent ICE out to really assist with not only airport security, but I think just some presence there and trying to keep the, you know, not only keep the peace, but frankly, I think it’s a huge, and this is, I’ll start with you, Bob. Great PR move, by the way, on the part of whoever decided to do this, given the fact that everybody thinks ICE is just out there. Akeem Jeffries himself thinking that ICE is just going to be there to kill everybody. The reality is I’m watching videos of these guys hanging around people, shaking hands, handing out water bottles. I mean, it is the opposite of what everybody would have thought, Bob.
SPEAKER 04 :
Absolutely. And that’s why it just it cracks me up to Hakeem Jeffries goes on CNN and he’s complaining about ICE agents taking some of the TSA slots. And he says, you know, Americans are going to potentially be brutalized. or killed, actually suggesting that you need to be in fear of your life if you go to an airport. Why? Because a TSA agent, let’s say you’ve got six TSA booths or terminals available, but only three of them are operational because the other three are empty. You don’t have TSA agents there. And so now we got five because you got a couple of ICE agents sitting there as well. So, number one, when you hear, oh, they’re untrained, untrained, how much training do you need to say, boarding pass and ID, please? I mean, really, how much? By the way, ICE agents are already trained in looking at ID and trying to match it up with the person in front of them. They’re very trained in that area. They’re also very trained in people that are trying to sneak in drugs, guns, paraphernalia into the United States at various ports. And airports already have ICE agents for those purposes, and they have for decades. So this is an absolute joke. How much does it really take? Is an ICE agent really putting your life in danger by saying, yeah, boarding pass and ID, please? Which, by the way, while we’re at it, If they’re asking for photo ID to get on a plane, doesn’t that mean that we’ve been for decades trying to suppress black people from voting? Because after all, photo ID to get on a plane, that’s Jim Crow. So it looks to me like we’re practicing Jim Crow laws in airports against black people by asking for ID. I’m just using liberal logic.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, good point. Neil, your thoughts on all this?
SPEAKER 05 :
liberal logic is what is that that’s like jumbo shrimp there you go exactly no i don’t have a problem i think it’s a great idea put them in there and utilize them at a time like this and it probably i don’t know that it was solely a public relations move to say hey look at you know Here’s your friendly neighborhood ICE agent helping you to get to your destination quicker because we’re alleviating these long lines at the airports. Or if it was necessary simply because of the attrition created by people not getting paychecks so they’re not showing up to work. Either way, I don’t know. I think it’s a great idea. Why not? They’re being paid anyway. And if they can provide that service while the government shutdown continues, the Democratic government shutdown, I would say, the Democrat initiated, then let’s do it. I’m all for it.
SPEAKER 04 :
And by the way, think about the PR part of this, though. It really is huge because now you’re going to get right now you have hundreds of thousands of Americans that are actually interacting eyeball to eyeball, voice to voice with an ICE agent. And they’re realizing this is not the monster that the media has been painting them to be.
SPEAKER 02 :
Correct. Yeah. And guys, it’s actually let me change that, Bob. It’s a million. I was going to say hundreds of thousands. Actually, it’s millions. If you look at how many people travel each week in the United States of America, it’s a huge number.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, you know, I was trying to shave it down to, OK, it’s just the airports that have the ice agents. And then it’s just of the of the terminals for the TSA agents. It’s only the extra overflow terminals that are opened up for the ice agents. And so I actually I grappled with the same thing. Do I say millions or hundreds of thousands? I chickened out and went hundreds of thousands.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, really quick, I just looked this up. I didn’t know the number was this big. About 17.5 to 20 million passengers fly in the U.S. each week, Bob.
SPEAKER 04 :
Okay. Well, then you know what? Then it is going to be millions. It is going to be millions that we’ll encounter. Okay. Think about this. People listening to our audience right now, how many of them have ever even had a conversation with an ICE agent? Me? I never have, Bob. I never have. I’ve never had a conversation with an ICE agent. I’m 65 years old, okay? Me neither. So now suddenly you have millions and millions of Americans that are going to have their first live interactive moment with an actual ICE agent. And they’re going to see, wow, these are regular human beings after all. What do you know? The guy was nice. He was polite. OK, enjoy your flight. You know, things like that.
SPEAKER 05 :
I know a guy who’s an ICE agent and he has served as a youth pastor at a local church. He’s kind of a bearded wonder, like a sort of a David Crowder kind of look. I don’t know if you can picture that, but tatted up, the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. Absolute nicest guy you’ll ever meet. It happens to be best friends with a family that we’re friends with. And so we met him in his own neighborhood and he told us about what ICE agents do every day. you know, offering $1,000 and a plane ticket to get people out of here who don’t belong here. And he couldn’t have been a nicer individual. So I hope that, you know, I’m sure that there are some crass ICE agents around the planet, but I just pray that what we’re describing is actually happening, that people are getting a chance to see that these are real human beings. They’re not going to pull a gun out and shoot you at random. They’re here to uphold the laws of the United States and in this case, help move people along at airport security. But, yeah, I mean, it’s an absolutely wonderful move.
SPEAKER 02 :
And, of course, the one video that we have to see, Bob, that got things kind of kicked off this week was the – I believe she was from South America. She was here illegally. She had been on the deportation list, was supposed to have been deported, was supposed to be leaving the country. She’s there with her young daughter, and, of course, they find her at the airport, which, by the way, I don’t think these ICE agents were the same ones that we’re talking about. These were ICE agents that were most likely looking for these types of individuals there. in the first place. And so, of course, all over the news, the first thing you see is, you know, ICE arresting this particular individual. And of course, she’s screaming and crying and there’s other people around. And of course, nobody knows the entire story until later. And they did finally get her rounded up. They got the daughter rounded up. They got things taken care of. They got them back together and still still going through the deportation process because that’s what was supposed to happen in the first place.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s right. You know what? Here’s a harsh reality for people to understand, okay? When people break the law, whether they’re United States citizens breaking American laws, whether it’s people from other countries coming here and breaking our laws, it’s not just… white males over the age of 50 who break the law. You have women that break the law, and you have parents who break the law. And when you break the law, you’re going to get arrested. And if you have a child, then that’s not fair to your child, but it’s the parent doing that to the child. So you know what the answer is? Don’t break into a country illegally. Don’t do things that are against the law. Because then you run the risk of getting arrested and anybody who gets arrested is at least temporarily going to be separated from their child. I don’t care if a U.S. citizen does anything. You know, I mean, John, let’s face it. You go out and break the law, you’re going to get arrested. And if you’ve got kids, your kids aren’t going to go to jail with you. All right.
SPEAKER 02 :
And by the way, they had already told her. A few days earlier, what was going on, what they were going to do, don’t try to leave because we know what you’re up to. And they gave her fair warning on the front side, and she still did that, Bob.
SPEAKER 04 :
I know. So we got to get past this notion, oh, but this is a mom. Here’s her child. We got to get past that notion that says if you’re female or if you’re a parent, then somehow you’re above the law. You’re allowed to violate the law. No, you can’t do that. You’ve come here illegally. You’re going to get arrested. And you’re putting your child in a tough situation when you do that. So be a good parent.
SPEAKER 05 :
You know, something else that I was thinking about with regard to the whole thing is just the idea that we’ve all heard the term that perception is more powerful than reality. And it often is. that what you can get people to believe whether or not it’s true is ultimately what matters. And I mean, a prime example would be the Joe Biden thing, right? That four years in office, oh, he’s fine. You know, no cognitive impairment whatsoever. He’s perfectly fine. We meet with him every day. We don’t see anything until the great debate with trump right and and all of a sudden the american people with thrown eyes realize they’ve been lied to systematically by the democrat party and the legacy media that literally were just lying to your face and four years later it’s discovered and you know trump wins in the next election i mean the bottom fell out at that point why because people discover the truth well it I’m not saying that there isn’t any merit to any story that the legacy media covers ever, but I am saying do your homework and understand that there are narratives at play, that when Hakeem Jeffries says that these ICE agents could potentially kill you at the airport, Well, you know, I guess if you pull out a gun and try to shoot one of them, maybe they will kill you in that instance. But my point is they’re not there to kill you. They’re there to assist you. And the millions, I do believe that you’re correct, that the millions of encounters that people have with ICE agents are going to reap dividends in the end because people are going to see that these are actual human beings with a pulse and probably have families and the whole thing. But these are real human beings that want to help you. And I think it’s going to assist them in the end.

Real quick, before we end up, before we end up this first half hour, the first half of the, of the podcast, going back to ice at the airports at the end of the day here, here’s a question for you, Bob, and I know we’re short on time, but how much longer does this shutdown last?

I really don’t know. Unfortunately, the Democrats are winning the PR battle because the polling tends to show that Americans are blaming Trump and the Republicans more than they’re blaming the Democrats for the DHS shutdown. And so, John, I hate to sound like a broken record here, you and me saying the same thing. Somehow the Republicans have got to get better on messaging because they’ve got to show the American people this is a Democrat shutdown of DHS. Republicans have been ready to open it this whole time. It’s the Democrats who are holding it hostage so that they can have, quote, unquote, ICE reforms as the ICE agents aren’t supposed to defend themselves if they’re under attack now.

Welcome back. National Crawford Roundtable. Appreciate you guys all listening. Talked about, oh, the crash and TSA ice, all of that. Guys, let’s switch over to the Iran war. It is number one news. In fact, it’s so big that there’s been a million acres burned. in Nebraska that frankly there’s a big fire there no one’s talking about because the Iran war is taking precedence which I’m not saying that it shouldn’t as it’s a worldwide thing but we have things going on here at home that honestly need some news coverage as well but in light of Iran and what’s going on there first question I’ve got and I’m going to throw this to you Neil first this time around is do you think Iran and this is the question first of all who’s in charge and are they being honest?
SPEAKER 05 :
No, they’re not being honest. They have a history of lying about everything all the time. They cannot be trusted. Who’s in charge? God only knows. And, you know, there’s apparently some talks happening. Well, I guess we’ll discuss that. But supposedly, you know, the whatever the Iranian Republican Guard or whatever they’re called. has really essentially running the country now. The son of the late Ayatollah was supposed to be in charge and maybe is from a hospital bed somewhere, but there’s no understanding really about whether or not that individual is even cognizant or in a coma. No one knows. No one’s seen him. So I don’t know, and I wouldn’t trust – You know, it’s the old Reagan term. I think it was Reagan. Trust, but verify. You know, I wouldn’t I’d say, yeah, sure, we’re going to trust you and we’ll have conversation about where we go from here and what kind of deals we make, you know, in organizing or setting up some kind of a peace settlement or a ceasefire or whatever you want to call it. I just do not. There’s nothing they’ve said in the past. That’s actually been real. You’re like, well, no, we’re not pursuing nuclear weapons. Well, yes, they were. No, we don’t have long range intercontinental ballistic missiles. Oh, yes, they do. So, you know, I think they’ve proven again and again that they cannot be trusted. So I am concerned about it. I think that, you know, our intelligence community and people that are tasked with trying to come up with some kind of understanding, they are going to have some mechanism in place whereby we can actually verify that what they’re saying is true. And I pray that that’s the case.
SPEAKER 02 :
And Bob, I can’t disagree with anything Neil just said there because I don’t think they can be trusted either. So then the question that we have to ask is, given the fact you can’t trust them, how do we get to a point where there is a some sort of an agreement or we move forward? You know, we end our participation in this. I mean, at what point, given the fact that I agree with Neil, you can’t trust these individuals. How do you end this thing then? I’m not sure.
SPEAKER 04 :
I’ve got to imagine that certainly Trump and his advisers and the generals and, you know, they’re all talking about this, certainly, and trying to figure out what the endgame is. I think part of the problem here is that Iran does appear to be more stubborn than… than I think a lot of people assumed that they would be. They’ve been completely decimated, but they’re still sending out conflicting messages. They’re letting their Iranian state-run television claim that that’s not true. We’re not negotiating. They’re negotiating with themselves at the U.S. So they’re still allowed to put out that kind of propaganda. And some of the latest reports are that Iran and the U.S. through back channels that they have both rejected so far the negotiated suggestions that each one of them have given. And I’m sitting there thinking to myself, wait a minute, Iran is telling the U.S., no, we won’t accept this. We won’t accept this. We demand this. Iran’s given their list of demands. So I think as a layman who’s not a military advisor, so it’s easy to be an armchair quarterback here, but I think what Trump may need to do is basically what Ronald Reagan famously did with Mikhail Gorbachev, which was in the middle of their negotiations, got up and said, well, that’s it, and just got up and walked out of the room. And I have a feeling that the answer may be for Trump to basically say to the – say to his advisors that are negotiating, Witkoff and Kushner, that they say, oh, wait a minute. I’m sorry. You guys – you’re making demands? And then get up and walk out of the room and then have another thousand targets blasted. blasted that very next day and go two or three more days with no talking whatsoever and don’t even take their phone calls when Iran tries to call and then call them back again and say, oh, I’m sorry, were you going to make some more demands to us right now? Are you serious? You shut up and listen. We’ll tell you what you have to do to live. I mean, it seems like that’s the only way. But to give them the credibility to enter into, you know, equal ground negotiations, it’s like, no. I mean, I hate to say it, but I think this requires a, okay, well, then you’re not taking this seriously. Walk out of the room. Treat them like gangsters. Just overwhelmingly decimate them for a couple more days and then say, okay, yeah, we decided to take your call now. Are you going to be stupid and make demands again? I don’t know how else to handle terrorists. I just don’t know how else to.
SPEAKER 05 :
Well, but what I was going to add is we’re not dealing with conventional warfare, really. I mean, yes, they had a Navy supposedly and they had an Air Force and they’ve been neutralized for the most part, I guess. And their air defense system is completely taken down. And so Donald Trump has made statements like, you know, we obliterated them on day one. They have no ability. And then you hear about cluster bombs flying into Israel or those ICBMs that got shot towards that. Is it Diego Garcia, the island, you know, 1200 miles out in the ocean or whatever. And thankfully, neither of those happened. missiles. One didn’t make it. The other one was destroyed by the defense systems. But the point is they have that capability and they’re experts at what I’ve heard this term now, I guess, asymmetric warfare. These are number one sponsors of terrorism worldwide. They know how to fund and motivate and arm proxy groups all over the place. They’ve been doing it with Hamas and Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen, I believe. These guys are experts at what nobody else thinks of because they’re terrorists. And I just think that they have a much more robust underground warfare system than anybody probably really imagined it. So you can cut the head off the snake a million times, but it’s just morphing into other smaller snakes. I just think that it’s going to be a while before they feel like they’re completely incapacitated and they’re ready to really negotiate because they’re like, man, we haven’t stopped yet and we don’t plan to stop. And by the way, you can kill us because then we go to heaven. This is what we want. We want to die martyrs or we want the apocalypse to happen. And we’re going to do everything we can to bring it about. I just don’t see that any amount of I know Donald Trump is a dealmaker. But, hey, you know, Don, you’ve been making a lot of sense. We want to we want to do the Mar-a-Lago thing. So let’s just kind of agree to everything you’re saying. That’s not who they are fundamentally. And that’s why I don’t think regular negotiations are going to work.

Bob, the biggest issue in front of us right now when it comes to Iran, and Trump, of course, knows this, is the Strait of Hormuz getting that opened up. You’ve got to get traffic going. Twenty percent of the world’s oil comes through the Strait. I know there’s lots of talk about other options, but right now those options are, I mean, they’re really not, you know, solid options right now. cutting a canal through the top of the peninsula, you know, relying on the roughly 7 million barrels a day that Saudi Arabia is now putting through their pipeline, which, by the way, helps, but none of that is a fix for the Strait. What do they do moving forward to get that fixed?
SPEAKER 04 :
It may very well be that it’s going to require military force to open up the strait. And that’s where Trump has been really pressuring and shaming our allies to put some skin in the game and send some of their ships to. And now there’s reports that the United Kingdom is actually spearheading a coalition of some other nations to send some ships to the Strait, which would be good because we don’t want our blood to be the only blood shed. If we end up militarily having to open up the Strait, there’s going to be deaths. There will be deaths because now we’re in close range missile exchanges with Iran at that point in the Strait. And so I think Trump has wanted to avoid going to this level, but it may be necessary. We’ll see. I do have to say this, though. Trump was absolutely right to shame our NATO and European allies into getting involved because last week, last week you had 12 Arab Muslim nations that issued a joint statement. condemning Iran and demanding that they open up the Strait. You couldn’t even get our European allies and NATO allies to even put out a joint statement together condemning Iran, let alone actually sending some ships. Well, just a few days after that letter from the Middle Eastern nations, then suddenly, what do you know, you had a coalition of 20 nations, including nations like Canada, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Germany, all the people that are supposed to be our friends. What do you know? They finally, 23 days later, signed a joint statement declaring a condemnation of Iran and demanding the Strait be opened and even saying we stand ready to assist in opening up the Strait. So 23 days late, but it took Trump shaming them on the public scale, worldwide scale, for them to finally do this.
SPEAKER 05 :
Bob, let me add something to what you’re saying. We mentioned those intercontinental ballistic missiles, the ones that were shot towards that.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, intermediate range. Technically, they’re referred to intermediate range because intercontinental go longer than the intermediate range.
SPEAKER 05 :
But we were under the impression that the ones that Iran previously claimed to have in their arsenal – were only able to go about 2,000 kilometers.
SPEAKER 04 :
About 1,200 miles, right.
SPEAKER 05 :
And so the ones they shot were more like 4,000 kilometers, which is in the range of 2,500 miles or certainly over 2,000 miles. All of a sudden, you’ve got Rome, Berlin, London, Paris, even Moscow, all within range.
SPEAKER 03 :
Reachable.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. Now, all of a sudden, maybe our allies wake up. And by the way, how do you define ally if you’re unwilling to support allies? your supposed ally in an effort like this. And maybe some of that falls on Trump for not talking with people in advance, you know, building a coalition, having reasonable conversation. But I don’t believe for a minute that these nations that are supposedly our allies were under the impression that the U.S. wasn’t going to act at some point.
SPEAKER 04 :
You really don’t think Trump talked to them ahead of time? That’s what I’m saying. He had to talk to them ahead of time. They probably said no. And he said, fine, we’ll go it alone. But I’m going to embarrass the daylights out of you publicly.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. Well, anyway, once they realized Iran can hit them, all of a sudden they’re more than willing to help with the Strait of Hormuz. Interesting, isn’t it? Yeah.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah. And Bob’s correct on that. It’s going to take other countries’ efforts. I mean, there’s other – and for those of you listening, please, it’s not just because we don’t have the capability. I mean, we do, but we need other involvement. There’s other – armament, let me say it that way, that other countries have that would be a huge help to this outside of what we also have. So, you know, this is one of those examples, Bob, where, you know, the more the merrier. The more people you get involved, the easier it is to make this thing happen. The more powerful it looks, the more in line you keep Iran, I think, at the end of the day. So, yeah, I’m one that says, yes, we need to make sure that we’ve got other countries helping us out. And, yeah, I think those missiles was a wake-up call for the other countries, absolutely.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, I do. And so now what happens from this point, if it I’ve said this all along and I still stick with this. I think Trump Trump’s original plan, his a plan is that Iran would open up the strait themselves and not try to block it as part of a ceasefire agreement. I do believe that Iran is being more stubborn about. And more demanding and more defiant down to the end than maybe Trump assumed that they would be. I think he probably thought they would cry uncle and say, we’ll do whatever you demand of us. Just let up.
SPEAKER 02 :
I want to jump in there. I think part of that is. I mean, I don’t know that Trump is completely wrong other than maybe figuring that there’s more chiefs there than there is Indians per se. I hate to say it that way, but that’s kind of the way you got to look at it.
SPEAKER 04 :
That’s a very important point. Right. That’s a very important point that you make, John. I think that’s right, because there is a lot of confusion and disarray in Iran right now. They don’t really know who’s in charge. And when Trump’s people are talking with officials in Iran, it’s like, OK, number one, do those people actually have the authority? Yeah. to control the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which they’re really the ones that are in charge. Ultimately, in any country, you have to have the generals, okay? You got to have the generals. And the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the IRGC, they’re the ones ultimately who whoever is in charge They’re going to have to obey any ceasefire agreements from whoever is in charge. So we don’t even know if we’re talking to the right people or not. But I’ve got to imagine that our intelligence is doing the best they can to figure out who at least has the ability to control the guard corps there.
SPEAKER 05 :
OK, this sounds stupid, but let’s just say the telephone repairman. OK, there’s like we’ve been dropping bombs everywhere. for a better part of a month over there, and its phone system goes down, guy repairs the phone, it rings, he answers it, you know, who is this? Well, I’m in charge here right now. It’s the phone repair guy, honestly. And is that possible? Yeah, I think it’s entirely possible. Seriously.
SPEAKER 02 :
No, I don’t think you’re that far off. You’re right. I think there’s some of that going on over there right now.
SPEAKER 03 :
I don’t think we do.
SPEAKER 02 :
I don’t think we do. And now really quick, just jumping back to what Bob said a moment ago, Neil, I think yes, I think even going into this, I think we had really good intel and probably had a pretty good idea of what would happen, although I don’t know that you ever know. I mean, nobody has a crystal ball to know that if you take out all of these leaders. Oh, and then take out additional leaders. Oh, and one more time, let’s do this a third time. I mean, at the end of the day, I don’t think anybody has any idea who would now be in charge. And I will say that I think that’s a really tough road to hoe, no matter how you look at it, Neil.
SPEAKER 04 :
way, can I say something also to kind of come to the defense of the Trump administration, Pete Hagseth and all the generals and the rest of them? There is a fog of war where no war is completely clean. No war goes, hey, everything went exactly the way that it’s supposed to. It is a fluid thing. And what you have to do is you have to adapt and adjust the based on what’s happening at that particular time. You have to plan on some setbacks. And I have no doubt that Trump and all of his generals probably said, hey, look, let’s not assume this thing is going to go exactly the way that we expect it to go. We have to expect some variations and some deviations from our intended plan here. And Maybe I’m naive, but I trust the people in United States leadership right now. I trust them to be able to adapt accordingly to whatever kind of deviations you may experience in this war, this fluid war.
SPEAKER 02 :
And you’re right, Bob. Everything, especially in this particular scenario, yes, definitely going to be fluid. It’s what drives me nuts about some of the people talking against the war, which I’ll get into in just a moment here. But yeah, at the end of the day, it’s very, very fluid. very fluid. Sorry for the pun here regarding the Strait of Hormuz, but the whole thing is fluid, especially given the fact that you’ve got a country whereby there are lots of factions in that really want to control things at the end of the day. And to your point, the guard doesn’t want to go away. At the end of the day, I do believe that that is the one thing that we’ve got to get taken care of is you’ve got to get a handle on them. Now, how does that happen? And Neil, I’ll throw this to you. Do we put boots on the ground? I really don’t want to. Do we use other boots on the ground outside of ours? Do we supervise those boots on the ground? I do believe that’s coming, Neil.
SPEAKER 05 :
I do too. And that’s not what the American people want to hear, but I don’t know how you’re going to verify some of the things that need to be verified in order to have some sense of security that this war is actually over. I mean, just I mentioned asymmetric warfare they’ve got suicide skiffs they’re called these are like boats that explode that look like fishing vessels you got those you know tooling around the Strait of Hormuz or getting near some of those super tankers carrying oil and they blow a few of them up all of a sudden you know nobody’s going to be using the Strait of Hormuz no matter what you And then secondarily, I said, I think earlier, perception sometimes is greater than reality. What if Iran just says, yeah, we’ve been deploying mines in the Gulf? Well, somebody’s got to verify that. Somebody has to. And another thing, the U.S., our minesweepers are docked on the east coast of the U.S. somewhere. They’re not in the Middle East or the Mediterranean area there. Who’s going to do that? Which is why I do think that Donald Trump, or at least military officials here, had to be talking to somebody in Europe, our allies in Europe, to say, hey, look, if we need minesweepers, are you in or not? Because why would we? The Strait of Hormuz is like the chokehold point that Iran, with very little effort, flying drones, kamikaze drones, towards these tankers on a regular basis. They have drones. Smaller vessels that can get out there and disrupt, you know, naval traffic. They can have tremendous amount of power by shutting down that strait. Somebody had to think of that in advance. With the coordinated effort to take out Iran in one day, take out their air defense, take out their Navy, you know, the whole thing. Somebody had to be thinking about the Strait of Hormuz. And I don’t know where we’re at.
SPEAKER 04 :
They had to be, of course.
SPEAKER 05 :
Yeah. So, you know, God willing, we can verify that and get the Strait opened again. But, you know, they’re talking about what’s that island, Karg Island, maybe occupying Karg Island. You absolutely need boots on the ground if you’re going to try something like that. And you better plan for all kinds of, you know, cluster bombs and other things coming your way because then you’re well within range of whatever Iran still has available to, you know, shoot at enemies like us. Right.
SPEAKER 02 :
Yeah, and I think where I’m going with this is don’t be surprised if you don’t see some of that coming. I don’t think we’re going to see infantry and that on our end, but I do think you’re going to see some of our guys and Bob maybe monitoring, maintaining, advising, managing. I guess you could say maybe some of the other folks that end up there. Who are all those other folks? That I don’t know, Bob.
SPEAKER 04 :
Right. Well, first of all, if we do militarily – Open up the Strait of Hormuz. That, for all intent and purposes, is kind of a boots on the ground thing because we’re now in close enough range. As I said before, missiles are being exchanged. I mean, try to picture the old clipper ships where you got arrows and cannonballs flying back and forth at each other. To a certain extent, that’s what’s happening out there. And so we would be very vulnerable. We would defeat them, of course. But still, you get in hand-to-hand combat like that, basically missile-to-missile combat, then there’s going to be deaths. You know, look, Americans hate the idea of boots on the ground. I do too. I don’t want to minimize the severity of boots on the ground. But I have to say, if boots on the ground ends up being the only thing that ultimately turns Iran into a friendly, or at least a more friendly than they have been, then I say we gotta do what is ever necessary to get control of Iran. And even if it involves a boots on the ground mess, better to do what we have to do so that when the dust does finally settle, we have a controllable Iran that is actually working with the United States. Can I remind you guys, look at Venezuela for a minute. Everybody went crazy on the left about Venezuela. Oh, you can’t go in there and snatch up the dictator and everything else. And Venezuela’s leadership right now are basically the vice president. They’re part of Maduro’s group. But you know what? They’re coloring within the lines. They’re working with the US. They’re selling us oil. They’re letting us manage the exports that they do to places like Russia and China. And they’re basically playing nice and saying, well, we’ll do what you tell us to do, US. So what do you know? Venezuela is not the big powder keg bomb explosion that we were afraid it was going to be. It turns out Maduro’s regime is standing in line and doing, OK, we’ll do what the US says. So it is possible for us to do that. Iran is bigger than Venezuela. I get that. But it is still possible to take a bunch of Shiite Muslims and make them obey.
SPEAKER 05 :
John, I know we’re short on time, but let me just say that. But we’re also not dealing with the same deck of cards because this is a crazed, apocalyptic world. suicide death cult we’re talking about the the islamic you know shia leadership in iran not the people in general i think there’s in fact there’s an underground church that’s at least a million strong some say two or three million people have come to faith in christ in in iran so i mean the people themselves can be dealt with it’s the leadership that matters and i just think we shouldn’t discount that going forward

And hopefully the generals, there’s some moderate generals in there that aren’t like the mullahs.
