Good to have you with us for another edition of the National Crawford Roundtable Podcast. My name is Neil, and I’m host of Neil Boron Live on WDCX Radio in Buffalo, New York. Joining me, as always, we’ve got the full… The full entourage here, Bob Duco, host of the Bob Duco Show in Detroit, Michigan, and John Rush, host of Rush to Reason on KLZ in Denver. And three of us, of course, talking about things that are going on in the news from a Christian perspective and at times literally drawing the word of God into our conversation. Yeah, we got a lot to talk about here, including probably especially the L.A. riots and what’s going on in Los Angeles. I don’t know how we’re going to avoid talking about that. There’s some other things maybe to catch up on, like the Trump-Musk feud and other factors like how Donald Trump is polling right now, given what’s happening. with jobs reports and Wall Street, et cetera. I think he’s surprisingly strong, but we’ll talk about that later if we have time. First of all, guys, good to have you here. And I’m just wondering what your thoughts are about what’s happening in Los Angeles. I mean, it’s an absolutely crazy scenario and you’ve got Donald Trump, of course, standing strong on what he campaigned on and what the American people voted for him regarding, and that was, you know, border security. Let’s take this illegal immigration thing seriously. Then you’ve got, obviously, the progressives and the liberals who are trying to play at everybody’s emotions on this saying, oh, but, you know, let’s not be bullies. Let’s treat these people well. And so Gavin Newsom steps up to the plate looking like he’s the hero for the opposition against the dictator, Donald Trump. And so it plays out in the media. But I’m wondering what your thoughts are about this. There’s so many different angles to take, but I guess we’ll start with Bob Duco today. Bob, your thoughts about what’s happening in Los Angeles right now?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, first of all, I just barely got back in time from organizing my Detroit area anti-ice riot and rally. So I’m glad to get back here and talk about it. You know what? I got to tell you, a couple of things come to mind here for me. First of all, this is absolutely exposing the Democrat Party for who they really are. I mean, this is the epitome of what’s good is bad, what’s right is wrong, what’s noble is evil, and vice versa. I mean, we are literally living in an age where Matt Dillon, Festus, and Chester are the bad guys. And the bank robbers are the good guys. And that’s what the Democrat Party is, in essence, taking the mask off and exposing about themselves. They are lawless anarchists. You got to keep in mind, ICE, these are law enforcement officers, okay? They are law enforcement for immigration. And it’s important for people to know Trump is not targeting and ICE is not targeting Consuela, the single mom trying to raise two kids, minding her own business. Yes, she’s here illegally and there’s every right to deport her, but she’s not being targeted. It’s the Tren de Aragua gang members, the MS-13 gang members, the drug traffickers, the human and sex traffickers, the cartel guys, the gang leaders, the ones that are committing additional crimes. These are the ones that are being targeted right now. And these are the ones that the liberal left is standing in solidarity with, including Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass, the L.A. mayor. So to me, I don’t think these Democrats are doing themselves any favors for next year’s midterms. I don’t think Gavin Newsom is doing himself any favors for 2028 hopes because I think a lot of independent voters are. Look at this and realize these are the bad guys that they’re going after here, and the bad guys I’m not going to feel a sense of sympathy for. Democrats are trying to turn it into a sense of sympathy. And then one other point I wanted to make about this as well, with Donald Trump sending in the troops, sending in 2,000 National Guard troops, then upping it to 5,000 and sending in 500 Marines. Number one, the National Guard and the Marines, none of them have any kind of policing powers. They’re restricted in any policing powers whatsoever because Trump has not invoked the Insurrection Act, which means they’re only there for the purpose of defensive peacekeeping of federal employees and federal property. That is it. But the fact that they’re there… is, in my honest opinion, keeping these riots from spreading so far out of control that they become like the Rodney King riots of 1992 where 63 people were killed. But if Trump did not send any troops in, I would just ask, and I would encourage our listeners, ask your liberal Democrat voting friends that hate Donald Trump and are listening to the MSNBC crowd. Ask them. If these riots now were going on for several days and Donald Trump did not get involved, sat on the sidelines, does anybody believe that Democrats would be complimenting Trump saying, you know what, we really got to give him credit? Would Gavin Newsom be saying, kudos to Donald Trump for sitting on the sidelines and not getting involved? No, they would be turning this into George W. Bush’s Katrina moment. Okay, where’s leadership from Washington? Trump is absent at the wheel while all of this rioting is going on. Donald Trump’s busy out there golfing. You know that’s what we would be hearing. So this is a blanked if you do, blanked if you don’t, as far as Donald Trump goes. I think he did the right thing. Let’s try to get this under control immediately. I guarantee you he’d be demonized if he didn’t send troops in right now for just sitting on the sidelines while Ali burns.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. John, I want to get your thoughts, of course, but let me just throw this in since you kind of identify at times with libertarians. Ilya Soman, who identifies herself as a libertarian professor from Antonin Scalia Law School. said that Trump is declaring utterly bogus emergencies for the sake of trying to expand his power, undermine the Constitution, and destroy all civil liberties. Do you agree with her on that?
SPEAKER 02 :
No, she’s completely wrong. She’s not looking at it correctly. I see it the same way Bob does. It’s a situation with Trump where he’s – he’s in trouble one way or the other, no matter how you play this out, because if he doesn’t do anything, then he’s not a good president. He’s not a good leader. He didn’t intervene when he could have, he could have slowed the spread of this, et cetera, et cetera. Now that he’s actually doing something about it. And Bob is correct. And the other misconception that a lot of folks have is that he’s there to actually, you know, the, the, the troops on the ground per se are there to stop the riots. No, that is not what they’re there for. They are there to keep the peace when it comes to ICE themselves because they’re federal agents and then also the federal buildings and things that are there as well. So the reality is they’re there to protect life and property of federal employees, which, by the way, as a federal taxpayer myself, that’s exactly what I want done. I want my investment protected at all costs, and that’s exactly what he’s doing at this point in time. The other misconception that’s out there, and you’re hearing lots of things from the left, by the way, like, you know, Donald Trump is deporting citizens. No, he is not. That is a flat out and out lie. There has not been a single report, nor could you deport a U.S. citizen. So there’s a lot of lies coming out of the left. And to Bob’s point, the reality is the majority of these individuals that are being, quote unquote, rounded up. And we had some discussions on air yesterday, even about that particular term. But This rounding up is typically and yes, there’s going to be some some casualties in this when you go do sweeping raids and things along those lines. You know, you’ve got some fringe people that. maybe wives and children of those particular individuals they’re rounding up. You know what? Oh, well. It’s sort of like, guys, and I know this might not be the right comparison, but it’s sort of like those that say that all of those innocents in Gaza, the Hamas supporters, the innocents there, the reality is we should be protecting them and doing everything possible to watch out for them. Yeah. To a point on the same token, they’re there. They were in support of the people that they elected to now be in charge of that particular area. It’s no different, in my opinion, than the drug dealer’s family that knows exactly what the drug dealer is doing and yet chooses to hang around. And then they get caught up in some of these sweeps. You know what? It is what it is.

So much to say about what’s going on in L.A. and we will talk more about it here in the next couple of minutes. But first, I want to shed a little light on. So it’s really fascinating to watch the Democrats try to respond to what’s going on in Los Angeles right now. In one sense, they’re desperate to not identify with any violence that’s going on there. You’ve got Maxine Waters saying, this is completely peaceful. Maxine Waters. And then Bob’s distant cousin, Kamala Harris, kind of saying the same thing. But John Fetterman… i know uh john fetterman i don’t know if you saw what he said this is amazing he said this is anarchy and true chaos my party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire destroying buildings and assaulting law enforcement um it’s interesting the media is trying to spin this the democrats are trying to spin it john fetterman of all people comes out and tells the truth john what are your thoughts about that uh you know what it’s funny that
SPEAKER 02 :
that he says some of those things about his own party. And by the way, I think I can say this even for you two guys. A couple of years ago, would I have said some of these things about John Fetterman? No, I would not have. I don’t know what’s happened to this guy, but he grew a brain somewhere along the way, and he’s calling out his own party where he should be, and he is 100% correct in the things that he’s saying. This right now, and he knows this, this is the biggest commercial for the Republican Party there is right now.
SPEAKER 03 :
Right. And that is so true. And by the way, can I just say, John, I was thinking the same thing. I look at John Fetterman and I’m thinking, what is going on in the world today? Could I have ever imagined me saying the words, John Fetterman is the voice of intellectual reasoning in the Democrat Party right now? I mean, who would have ever thought such a thing? But you know what you got to keep in mind? Okay. The term gaslighting and such Democrats are masters at telling you, what are you talking about? The sky is too green. Yes, it is green. And they say it was such confidence. They tell blatant lies. How many of these people, Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass, Kamala Harris, all of up and down the line. OK, Chuck Schumer, even Hakeem Jeffries. They’re all trying to claim, as Newsom said, we had no problems until Donald Trump got involved. We had no problems. So apparently, ICE agents having rocks and bricks and concrete and explosives thrown at them. And the looting and the burning of the cars and all that, apparently those are no problems at all. And Donald Trump was supposed to just sit on the sidelines and take no action in this case. Which, by the way, can I also say, as far as the LAPD being overwhelmed, I wonder how much of that is they really couldn’t handle what was going on versus how much they’ve been ordered to stand down from Karen Bass. And a little bit afraid to stick their necks out because if anybody phone films some police officer taking some migrant down, And the migrant, you know, is bloodied in any way. Oh, there we go. You think Karen Bass is going to have that cop’s back? No. So Trump was absolutely right. This is something that, you know, nip this thing in the bud, keep it from getting out of control. But to say there were no protests. problems there. Everything was going fine until Donald Trump showed up and he’s the one creating chaos and violence. It’s like a jaw hanging open kind of statement, but that’s what they’re all making right now and the press is letting them get away with it.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, and no matter what anybody wants to say about California, they’ve had a defund the police kind of mindset. They have a smaller police force now than they had previously by about 1,000 police officers, and they’re in danger. I mean, Gavin Newsom’s political future would be destroyed if you see a Tim Walz kind of incident where they end up burning down a police precinct or a federal building or something in Los Angeles. So who knows where it goes, but let’s bring Gavin Newsom into the conversation because there’s no doubt People are talking about him as a possible presidential candidate in the next election cycle. And so all of a sudden, Gavin Newsom is at war with the Trump administration over this whole thing. And, you know, he had been kind of leaning, trying to appear more moderate. I don’t believe for a minute. He’s going more moderate, but, you know, I think he was talking to Charlie Kirk on a podcast about now, you know, thinking that it’s wrong that males compete in women’s sports and it isn’t fair, I think was the official term that he used. So he’s trying to take like a more moderate approach. But the reality is it’s a very, very liberal state and Democrats won’t be happy with him unless he coddles the protesters and stands up against the Trump administration. So he’s trying to take like this opposition leader kind of thing. And in the process, it’s kind of daring Tom Holman to arrest him. Trump’s saying he thinks maybe it’d be a good idea because of the lousy job he’s doing as governor of California. Nothing related to this, just save the people from his governorship. But I don’t know. The war between Trump and Newsom. And the question has to be asked, if the Trump administration or Tom Holman or anybody involved They’re arrested Gavin Newsom. What’s the political fallout from that? How does that help or hurt Republicans or Democrats in the future?
SPEAKER 03 :
Bob? This thing about arresting Gavin Newsom. If you read the actual words of Tom Homan, OK, Tom Homan didn’t say we’re going to arrest Gavin Newsom. He was specifically asked by a reporter about. would you consider arresting Gavin Newsom? And he said, look, if he violates, if he commits a felony, and it’s a felony to aid and abet or harbor illegal aliens. So if he does what that judge did that rightfully got arrested for this, then of course he said, nobody’s above the law, but we’re not talking about arresting Gavin Newsom. That’s what Holman actually really said. And then Gavin Newsom comes out and tries to play tough guy. You want to come and get me tough guy? I’m right here. Try to arrest me. So what a joke. When a reporter asked Donald Trump about that, Trump said it mostly in a joking way. Hey, I think he ought to go ahead. I think it’d be good. You know, Trump is not saying that he’s going to have him arrested. He’s basically tongue in cheek saying, hey, look, I think it’s funny. I think it’d be personally great if he were arrested. That doesn’t mean he’s calling for that. And Tom Homan would be the one to push for this. And he didn’t. He specifically said we are not talking about arresting Gavin Newsom. So, no, this is a dishonest media trying to turn it into something that it’s not.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. John, your thoughts?
SPEAKER 02 :
Same. I agree with Bob on this. I mean, A, it’s not going to happen. I mean, as much as some would, even on our side, you know, our side at times gets, and I love our side dearly, but sometimes they get way off. And the reality is as much as some of them would want to see that, no, A, it’s not going to happen. Would it be good press for our party? No, it would not. The Democrats would use that against us. So at the end of the day, Tom Holman, even Trump sort of tongue in cheek saying what he’s saying is fine. But at the end of the day, is Gavin Newsom going to get arrested? No, there’s a better chance of me being governor of California than him getting arrested. Let’s just say it that way.
SPEAKER 04 :
It looks like, you know, if you look at the polls, that there’s plenty of opposition to the way the Trump administration is handling this, but that the majority of Americans and probably in most cases, the voters that elected him to be strong on illegal immigration. and the danger that presents to our country are in favor of it. So he’s got the majority on his side right now. And I just wonder how much of what the media is saying, what liberal Democrats are saying, just trying to stoke the fire further and maybe utilize this in some further attempt to discredit Donald Trump. But it doesn’t, in my estimation, doesn’t look like it’s working and that the people are saying, hey, we need law and order in our country. And if you need to call in the National Guard to protect federal buildings or federal agents while they carry out their responsibility, to uphold the law then let’s do it and by the way the other thing about all this that the trump administration didn’t need to pass any new laws to begin cracking down on illegal immigration all those laws were on the books it’s just that the biden administration completely ignored the law for four straight years and opened the floodgates and said come on in now we’ve got this problem with criminals and people who have you know nefarious plans about what’s going to happen Once they’re here in our country and they represent some of the gangs you mentioned earlier, it’s got to stop. And this stuff, you know, needs to be enforced.
SPEAKER 02 :
So I’m in really quick, Neil, just to jump in. The one thing, too, that I think happened in regards to people and their thought process and what’s going on and what the Trump administration is doing when you’ve got I don’t know who the camera person was and what news agency was. It was, but when you’re filming a guy in a motorcycle helmet that is picking up decent-sized rocks and throwing it literally through the windshields of ICE vehicles as they’re driving by, and he didn’t do it just once. He did it over and over and over again. When you’ve got that on video and it’s making its rounds, it’s why people aren’t upset about what Trump’s doing because they’re watching that thinking, nobody else is going to stop these knuckleheads. Trump might as well do it.
SPEAKER 04 :
I like what Speaker Mike Johnson said. He said, Gavin Newsom is standing in the way of the administration and the carrying out of federal law. He’s applauding the bad guys and standing in the way of the good guys. He’s a participant, an accomplice in our federal law enforcement agents not being able, being not just disrespected, but assaulted. This is a serious problem, and the governor is now filing a lawsuit against the president. What a joke. Do your job, man. Some strong words from Mike Johnson, but… appropriately said, I think. Real quick, we just got a couple minutes before we wrap up this first half of the roundtable, but last week we did touch on the Donald Trump and Musk feud, but it went nuclear after we recorded last week’s podcast with Musk coming out saying how displeased he was with Donald Trump’s big, beautiful bill, and especially then throwing in completely unnecessary comments about Trump’s involvement or not with the Epstein situation. It went really nuclear. It got really ugly. And now Musk is beginning to walk back some of his comments, maybe because this has had a huge economic impact on his companies, including Tesla. Not sure, but real quick, let me start with you, John, regarding the Trump-Musk war and where we’ve gotten to at this point.
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, and I said this even last week that, you know, it would. It would eventually blow over. It has. In fact, all the riots and everything have pretty much buried that. And there were some folks that, you know, are near and dear to me that we had huge disagreements on all of that. I didn’t think it was going to be that big of a deal when it was all said and done. And it’s turned out to be that not, you know, not that big of a deal. In fact, at this point, Musk has really backed down this morning, even, you know, giving out another apology. And what, you know, Bob and I were even talking about before we did the podcast today is when you get high level, high intelligent people. And then, you know, Musk is even on the autism spectrum as well and, you know, not giving him a pass on his behavior. But when you have all of that going on in your mind, it’s not, it’s not surprising to me that he has knee jerk reactions at times to different things, even though, and Trump has said it, he knew all along what was in the big, beautiful bill. And then he comes out at the end and acts the way he does. And across the board on certain things, and he went too far on the Epstein files and so on, and I think he knows that now, but the reality is I knew it would settle down. It has. Fortunately, it’s not going to be anything at the end of the day. It won’t be used against either one of them, I don’t think, on down the road. It’s blown over now, and that’s good. It needed to, by the way.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, Bob, you got about a minute. And just one thing I wanted to say is that it saddens me that we live in the age of social media and we have to watch this mess play out in public because I think things like this probably happened in the past. We just didn’t hear about them. But anyway, your thoughts on the Musk Trump debacle that’s going on right now. And then we’re going to need to hear from from you regarding pre-born.
SPEAKER 03 :
Absolutely. I’m glad it’s at least appearing to kind of wind down a little bit. I did see Elon Musk as more the bad guy in this. I mean, yes, Donald Trump can be petty and insulting, but Elon Musk, he did cross the line. Trump had a very good and fair point. Musk wasn’t surprised by anything in that bill. He’s known about it for a long time. He’s known about the EV mandates for a long time. He’s known about the size of the spending that’s in this. And Musk was fine with it until suddenly he’s done with Doge. And then he comes out as forceful as he does and saying shame on anybody who supports this bill. It’s despicable. And then, of course, the stupid Epstein comment, which is just going way over the line. So, no, I… To me, there’s got to be something more than the size of this bill, if you will, because you’ve got to remember that there’s $1.6 trillion in reduced spending as part of this bill. The only reason the CBO says it would add $2.7 trillion to the national debt is on the assumption that that’s $2.7 trillion less in taxes paid to the government. But when you reduce taxes, you increase revenue to the government. Yeah. So I don’t think you can look at that number totally. And Elon Musk is smart enough to know that. So I just I don’t I don’t buy it.

Welcome back to the National Crawford Roundtable podcast here on being recorded on this Wednesday, June 11th. We record on Wednesday morning, so it’s always a little iffy because if you listen later in the week, sometimes news breaks later on a Wednesday or on a Thursday morning or something and you seem a little out of touch. Let me guarantee you, we’re out of touch, but we do the best we can to stay on top of news items and to talk about them in a way that ultimately represents truth and allows us to honor God in the process, sometimes directly referring to scripture or speaking from a Christian perspective, and that’s what the National Crawford Roundtable is about. First half, we obviously were talking about the LA riots, what’s going on there, the feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and I want to I want to circle back to something we’ve touched on in the past, and that is, you know, the Democrats obsession with taking down Donald Trump and always thinking that piling on, you know, two impeachments, four indictments, all kinds of accusations thrown at him from every single angle, news media personnel. lying about his history and then getting fined $15 million as ABC News was for saying false things about the president. Anyway, they keep piling on and it doesn’t really seem to be working. And I ran across a couple of articles I sent him to you guys. I don’t know if you had a chance to look at him, but with all that’s going on in the world. And he said, obviously, on day one, I could end the Ukraine-Russia war in a day. Well, that didn’t happen. And he’s acknowledged that it’s more complicated. than perhaps he imagined in the first place, but he’s working on it. You’ve got the situation in Gaza that hasn’t fully resolved. There’s controversy there. The tariff thing and some of the ill will that’s created, including with our friends north of the border in Canada. We love our Canadian listeners, but these tariff things have been an issue. This Musk war that we just described, how he’s handling the LA riots, and yet… the world isn’t falling apart and his poll numbers remain strong. And then looking back in analysis, some major research organizations have looked back over the last few elections to say that Republicans and conservatives are continuing to gain ground In counties virtually all across America, only a few places like, for instance, Ithaca, New York, where it’s home to Cornell University and Ithaca University. The county there that houses Ithaca showed some support for Democrats. But thousands of counties around the country, you know, went for Trump and he’s made gains amongst Latinos and blacks. And this is confounding the Democrats. I got to believe behind closed doors, they’re ready to implode. But I wanted to talk about this reality right now, because, you know, even in light of the tariffs, the economy is hanging in there and people may not be entirely happy with where it’s at. But Donald Trump had clearly said, look, no pain, no gain. This is going to hurt for a while. And then let’s watch where it goes after that. Watch the prosperity that follows. Remains to be seen how it turns out. But anyway. I don’t see people getting off the Trump bandwagon. I see people getting on the Trump bandwagon. So let me start with Bob this time. But, Bob, what are your thoughts about this?
SPEAKER 03 :
Well, I’ll tell you what. There was a few days ago. It was on June 6th, if I remember right. June 6th or June 5th. There was a survey analysis of an average of all of the polls, presidential polls. Okay. And this is the real clear politics average of all. So, you know, you get the outliers that are higher than normal, lower than normal. But what are the average of all of the major polls showing? And Donald Trump’s average approval of all of the polls on that day, June 5th, was 47.5 percent. OK, fine. Then you go back to Barack Obama’s second term on the same identical day. in his second term, his RealClearPolitics average was 47.1%. So Donald Trump actually has an average higher approval rating at this point in his second term than Barack Obama did. And here’s what you got, number one, the dishonest corrupt media, They’re not painting it that way. They’re painting it as though Barack Obama was beloved and Donald Trump is hated by America. But guess what? He’s more popular than Obama was at this very same point. And here’s what’s most significant about that. Donald Trump has this popularity with 90 to 95 percent of everything reported about him in the mainstream media through a negative critical lens. However, Barack Obama, we all remember, he was heralded as basically the second coming. He was so wonderful. He was a above basic humanity. He was just, he was a savior of the world. I mean, this is how Barack Obama was treated. Overwhelmingly, not just positive coverage, but gushing coverage about him. And he couldn’t even muster the same approval rating as Donald Trump is getting now with a almost all negative news coverage about him. That tells me that Trump is, in fact, doing a great job. And I’ll tell you what, if he were getting a fair shake in the press and the media, I’m convinced his approval ratings would be well into the 60s.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. And I think honestly, John, we’ll get your thoughts, but I think that it says that minority individuals, lower income people, even people without college educations are capable of looking around and seeing for themselves what’s actually going on and then agreeing or disagreeing with how they actually see life playing out. And I think less people are listening to the nationwide media, which has proven it can’t be trusted, you know, legacy media. So I don’t know. I, I say, praise God, that we’re seeing that average human beings are capable of discerning right from wrong, and they’re looking at situations and going, I don’t want any part of that. John, your thoughts?
SPEAKER 02 :
Well, and part of that too, Neil, keep in mind that you’re looking at energy prices, for example, where, yeah, we’ve had a few things that the tariffs have increased prices on. But overall, and the numbers are showing this, inflation is well within reason where it needs to be. In fact, according to the Fed, even we’ll see what they do as far as interest rates and all that are concerned this month. But The reality is it’s in check. So I think to your point, Neil, people are smart enough to look around and say, okay, wait a minute. All of this news media talk and all of this hype about what’s going on, the reality is I’m spending less money to fill up my car. My grocery bills have actually come down. At the end of the day, things are headed in the right direction. Even with all of this naysaying talk that’s going on by the press, the reality is my life has improved. That’s why his approval ratings are where they’re at. That’s my opinion.
SPEAKER 04 :
You know, one other area where there’s been a ton of cover up, and we’ve got probably more to talk about here, but Bob, liberals and progressives over the years have done everything they possibly can to keep a young woman who’s pregnant, feels all alone, isn’t sure about her future, whether or not she should have a baby. They’ve done everything they possibly can to try to convince her. that what’s happening inside of her womb is really nothing to worry about. It’s just a blob of tissue. It’s not a human being. Guys, no matter what the other side has tried, and it has to be so frustrating, he seems to gain in strength and popularity. And it isn’t just him. I honestly think what’s happening is that there is a common sense revolution going on. And the people are saying, look, you know, we bought into the lie that the Democrats were going to protect us, that as a minority… They were going to meet all our needs. And 30, 40 years later, we’re not in that better of a position. There’s ongoing problems here. I’ll give you one example. In our own city, they’re talking about the infrastructure problem. Sewer lines and bridges are decaying and roads are falling apart, and there’s an infrastructure problem in Buffalo. Now, a lot of the areas have been refurbished and they’re doing great, but especially on the East side of Buffalo and in lower income communities, not so much. So what are people realizing? Well, for the last 40 years, Buffalo has been controlled by Democrats, Democrat legislator, mayor, Erie County legislator, New York state politicians, mostly Democrat governors. Okay. It’s not working. And I think they’re saying something else has to happen. We have to figure out a way to get this done. And I think a common sense revolution is occurring. I don’t know. Is this just a Trump thing? John, let me start with you. Is this just a Trump phenomenon? Or do you think across the board, Democrats are going to have to rethink their approach and that minority, you know, low income people, minorities, Latinos, blacks, et cetera, are really actually capable of thinking for themselves. And they figured out the Democrat. Hey, don’t worry about it. We’ll just subsidize everything. We’ll take care of you. Isn’t working.
SPEAKER 02 :
It’s not working. The Democrats are in such a world of hurt right now. And there’s article after article about, you know, who’s going to be their next leader, who’s going to bring things back together, who’s going to get things on track. And no, it’s not going to be the Bernie Sanders and AOCs of the world. That’ll be another disaster for the Democrats. I hope that actually happens, by the way, because it would be disastrous for them. And to your point, Neil, people are finally, you know, we saw it in the last election. People are coming around to the fact that, wait a minute, I can have I may not like every single thing Donald Trump says or does, but the reality is at the end of the day, things are more in order. We’ve got a border secure and there’s more money in my pocket at the end of the month where I can actually feed my family. Those things just naturally, Neil, add up to success for a particular party. And it’s something that. The left has not been able to deliver on. And again, as I said, they’re in a world of hurt because they have right now no bench, no leadership. I mean, who’s going to be the next person that even runs in 2028? And I don’t know who that person is, to be honest with you. Maybe Bob does, but I don’t know who it is.
SPEAKER 03 :
I thought it was going to be Gavin Newsom, but I’m not so sure. I know. I know. You know what? It’s interesting to Neil to answer your question. I think it’s a combination of both things. I don’t think it’s only Trump. I think it’s it’s Trump with a powerful assist from the Democrats themselves. Trump is willing to take on head on and fight a bunch of the craziness that’s and he’s taken the extremes of today’s Democrat Party. And he’s exposing them for the whole world to see. And then the Democrats themselves have just gone off the rails. OK, if I were a Democrat strategist, I would be saying to them, why in the world don’t you get back to some Bill Clinton kind of messaging? But when the Democrat Party doubles down on. on transgenders and drag queens in kindergarten, trans competitors in women’s sports, now siding with the illegal alien criminals and gang members. OK, they’re the heroes that we’re standing behind. Not to mention the fact economically, everybody’s taxes are slated to go up at the end of this year. And Every single Democrat is voting against this bill that will extend and make permanent those tax cuts from 2017 combined with Donald Trump is evil, Donald Trump is Hitler. And I think to John’s point, I think a lot of regular middle America Americans are looking at Trump and going – You know, I don’t know if he’s the guy I’d want to have a beer with. He is a, you know, he’s kind of a harsh, blunt kind of guy. His personality rubs me wrong. But my goodness, he is competent and he does make me feel safe and more prosperous. And that’s mattering to me more than his personality. I think a lot of middle America, when it hits close to home for them, the safety and security of their own family combined with their own finances matters. I think they’re starting to say maybe substance really is more important than style. I’ll take Donald Trump’s substance over his lack of style any day. And I think that’s what’s happening.
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah. Well said, Bob. And we’ll obviously talk about these kind of things again in the future. But, you know, I think the other side, the liberals, progressives, whatever, they’re astounded that every effort to take down Donald Trump has not worked. And I think it has something to do. related to common sense and the American people can see through their lies. Well, I want to switch the subject here.
SPEAKER 03 :
They tried to throw him in prison. I mean, think about that. They weaponized the government against him and tried to throw him in prison. And these, by the way, can I just say, I saw this meme online and it was really a great meme. It showed a picture of a bunch of today’s leading Democrats and they’re all standing there. And the meme said, I’ve never seen people work so hard to throw a former president in jail as they’ve worked as hard to keep illegal criminal aliens out of jail. And it really is such an excellent point. They were so passionate about, we have to throw the book at Donald Trump. And with equal passion, they’re saying, we have to protect and stand in solidarity with illegal aliens who commit additional crimes. It’s incredible.
SPEAKER 04 :
Well, we’ll keep our eye on it and appreciate the thoughts you guys have shared. We got a few minutes left here. I want to turn the attention to Father’s Day, which is coming up this weekend. And we all know there’s been hundreds of studies about the importance of fatherhood and intact families and how kids who grew up in homes without a dad around are more susceptible to crime, drug abuse, alcoholism, depression, suicide, juvenile delinquency, etc. The list goes on. So Dads Matter, we’ve known that. And for years, the media tried to just portray dads as buffoons. I saw a stat the other day, not sure exactly how accurate it is, but it said that in 1982, a significant 43% of fathers reported never changing a diaper. By 2000, that number had decreased to just 3%. Meaning that 97% of millennials were involved in diaper changing. I don’t know what to make of a stat like that or if it’s even accurate. But my point is, I feel like I’m seeing more dads at grocery stores, you know, carrying children. I saw one last Saturday in a papoose, you know, he got the little one on the front, pushing the cart with another baby in there, helping mom do the grocery shopping. my dad never helped my mom do grocery shopping. And I’m just wondering if the, you know, if the trend towards men that all men are bad and white men, especially are the antithesis of all problems in our country, they’re at the epicenter of all problems. You know, if that’s not just an all out lie. So I’m wondering what your thoughts are as we head towards Father’s Day and you know, maybe throw in your own thought about the importance of fatherhood. I wouldn’t be here without my dad. I can tell you that much.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. Yeah. Actually, Neil, I’m, I feel like I’m getting on the verge of having to change my own diapers pretty soon. So I, as far as diaper changing goes, but. No worries.

John said he’d help.
SPEAKER 03 :
Yeah. Thanks, John. I appreciate that. No problem. Yeah. With a fire hose from 50 feet away, maybe. So, you know, I mean, dads are important. They are significant, of course. And we see this certainly in Scripture. And, of course, God presented himself to humanity as our heavenly father. And so… Obviously, any trend that can show dads getting more involved and having more influence over their kids is a good thing. Your average kid, if you talk to the psychologists, even the non-Christian psychologists, they’ll tell you that dads will very typically have way more of an influence over their kids than mom will as far as who the kids will emulate. Right. And so dads need to know that they are, in fact, being watched by their kids. But I want to say also that one of the things that I don’t agree with is how common it is, even in churches, to constantly beat up on dads. It’s almost like every Mother’s Day, the sermon is on, Mothers, stand up while we honor you. And every Father’s Day, it’s, Dads, I’m going to beat you over the head with all your shortcomings. And so there comes an area where it’s almost like in the church we’re deliberately coming up with ways to criticize our dads. And I’ll just tell you real quick. We had this event. It was a church event. And a bunch of us were sitting around. We got into small groups. And the leader of the thing said, everybody needs to take a few minutes and talk about how your dad has hurt you so you can be honest and transparent. Oh, wow. Yeah. And these guys are like, well, you know what? My dad, when I was 10, he didn’t really, whatever. And it got around to me. And I said, you know what, guys? I’m not going to play this game. I said, I don’t think that this is healthy. If you have a genuinely abusive or absent dad and he really genuinely has harmed you, then fine. Come to terms with that. Don’t sweep it under the rug. I said, but I’m not going to sift through the inventory of of my dad’s life and see if I can find some negatives to cherry pick. My dad’s not a Christian. I’m a first-generation Christian. Okay, I’m still working on him. He’s in his 80s, but you know something? He taught me honesty. He taught me integrity. He taught me a work ethic. Was he a perfect dad? No. Guess what? I’m not either. only our heavenly father. He’s the only perfect father that there is. So I choose to look at the good that my dad taught me instead of focusing on the bad so I can generate a tear. And the guys sitting around in my circle were like, you know what? I think you’re right, Bob. And so I was kind of the troublemaker in the crowd. But so- No, I said, let’s focus on the good things that our dad has done. Let’s honor him for that. And I’m not saying there aren’t people out there that have horrible, horrible dads, the molesters and the whatever. I’m not sweeping that under the rug. But for the most part, I choose to look at the good that my dad taught me, work ethic, honesty and integrity and not the bad.
SPEAKER 02 :
John, we got about a minute. Go ahead. No, a good way to look at it. I mean, I’m so thankful for my dad’s in memory care now, but so thankful for him and just the leadership that he provided to myself and our family and the things that I learned, my mechanical ability that I have and literally the ability to run around and fix anything. in the house all of that you know came from him because he was just one of those guys and and i i learned it from him and and on top of that you know how to treat a lady and all the other things that dads teach and you know i’m i’m just utterly guys thankful and i i wish he could hear me say that but he doesn’t understand anymore
SPEAKER 04 :
Yeah, it’s sad. My dad died of Lewy body dementia, so he thought I was his brother in the last few years of his life. But my dad had been hit by a car when he was 11, thrown on his head, told he’d never walk again, but walked for 77 more years and only spent the last three years of his life in a wheelchair when he began to lose his memory and so forth. But very grateful for my dad. Love my dad, and I want to take the things I learned from him. I’ve passed them on as best I can to my son. I hope my son is passing them on to my grandchildren.
