Mike Triem and Director, Jeff Archey discuss Jeff’s trip to Athens, Greece as he and his team walked the steps of disciple Paul. They went a number of places with direct biblical significance, and Jeff brought some of that experience to our interview and he will be expanding more in the future on international gospel hour.
Hey, it’s Mike Trame with Crawford Media Group and KLTT. I’m here with Jeff Archey, the director and speaker for International Gospel Hour. And Jeff, once again, so good to have time with you. You had a really special trip that you went on, and we want to give a listener shout out, if you will, first, then talk about your trip.
SPEAKER 01 :
Well, of course. Thank you, Mike. Always great to be back on with you here on KLTT and to spend time with the listeners there. Yes. The last time you and I talked, Mike, we received a kind note from a dear lady, and we did not get her name. And the reason that I’m mentioning this, and if she is listening, I didn’t get your entire email address. And she had asked about a program that could deal with widows and how widows can now serve and some of the struggles that are faced. And I would love to do that program. And I wanted to kind of reach back out to her for a little clarification. So, dear lady, dear listener, if you’re listening, we are listening. That’s so good. And Jeff, it’s a good time to remind people on 670 KLTT International Gospel Hour. It’s an evening Bible study at 7.45 p.m. So it really is a great way to say, okay, I’m going to set that time aside because you know you’ve got to be on point at 7.45 to be listening to the station. And then for 15 minutes, 14 minutes, and you can then, you know, work towards getting kids to bed or, you know, doing whatever you need to do afterwards. But 7.45 p.m. weekdays, and then Sundays, a little longer teaching, more in-depth teaching at 12.30 p.m.

That is correct. Yes, each evening you can call it your dinner devotional or myself being from the South, what about supper time with the Savior? And we’ll just study the Word of God together. That’s great.
SPEAKER 02 :
That’s great. Now, tell us about the trip because you got to walk some shoes of someone rather influential in the Bible and what you did. Tell us a little bit about that.
SPEAKER 01 :
Yes, Mike. Back in the month of March, my beloved bride and I joined a number of friends and fellow Christians and We traveled and let’s just say we walked the path of the Apostle Paul. We visited the city of Athens and made Acts 17. You know, as you read the Bible, you see those things. We went into Philippi. We looked over at where they believe Paul and Silas were held. Of course, as we stand back and look at the layout of the city, we were wondering if they were held somewhere else in the prison and all. And one thing special of Philippi, we went out to the riverside where, of course, Lydia was baptized, Acts 16. And they note that in the city, they note that it’s a part of the creek where it runs off of the river, a small tributary, I guess we could say. And they have built a baptistry there that the water flows through. that the entrance, it’s the shape of a cross. Think about Romans 6, Mike, that when we are baptized into Jesus Christ, we are baptized into his death. Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death. And again, now that’s not believed to be the spot where Lydia was baptized, but recognizing this from the scripture and where she was baptized thereby, We went into Ephesus, and it was amazing to see the city there, to see all of the houses that they have since come across, the writing, the wall, everything that just still is intact. And it would remind you of how the church met in houses. and how those houses how the church would receive a poor person who may not have a chance to go into a house but through the gospel through the obedience to christ to the church there with brothers and sisters in christ regardless of what their standard was are their living standard they’re very humbling when we walked we went into corinth and we went to an area believed to be one of the houses. We were there on the Lord’s Day, and we started talking about partaking of the Lord’s Supper, as we do every first day of the week. And then we found a spot uncovered in 1980, where it’s the starting line for all of the events, the Olympics, the events that were in Corinth. And even the small place cut out where you would put your foot, the starting block, if you will. And so several of us got our pictures there with our spouses that we’re running the race of life together. Of course, Paul talks about that in 1 Corinthians 9, verse 24. But another quick highlight. when we were there walking through Corinth. And Mike, let’s keep in mind when we’re walking, we are looking at ruins. Yes, we’re looking at ruins. About 10 to 15 percent has probably been excavated through the years. Keep in mind, too, from Bible times, we’ve had world wars, we’ve had earthquakes. You’re talking 2000 years. You know, whereas Corinth was once a city right on the sea, you know, how that has even changed and all. So you keep all that in mind. But there is an inscription that is recognizing Erastus, who was the city treasurer or possibly or the King James Version calls him the chamberlain of the city. We learn about that in Romans 16, verse 23. And so what we see is the Bible is affirmed once again. It is true. It is the word of God. And when you walk in these places, it’s amazing that you sit down and you you’ll read the text again and something will cross your mind. You know, you can’t help but to read First Corinthians nine of all running the race. And, you know, that’s going to be in our mind where we started at the starting block. And so just a little bit highlights of through the trip and the cities that we went. And there were others too.

This is where we’re going to talk about the city and what we saw recently. I travel places and I hear a lot of other preachers. And so I’ve created a segment recently, sermons I have heard. And just share those with our listeners, too. And a little variety. You know, you hear someone else proclaim and preach, and just it’s a good opportunity to recognize good friends and all. But we plan on probably more into summertime. You’ll be hearing our broadcast about cities or cities. Probably call it Places I’ve Traveled or Walking with Paul. I’ll give it some kind of title there. And we look forward to sharing that with individuals, with the audience, rather.

Now, Jeff, will that be in the dinner devotional, a shorter form, as well as in the more in-depth on Sundays, both?
SPEAKER 01 :
Yeah, Mike, I know it will be in the shorter form, the evening sessions, the dinner devotional, as I call it. I’ll put those in there as well. And of course, there will be some where applicable would be more longer, a little longer programming. And of course, and the thing is, Mike, if someone misses it, they can always access it at our website, internationalgospelhour.com. And of course, I think you all have access with some archives as well. And so we, you know, if folks miss it, we can come back around. And sometimes I will bring back like an old sheet or a chart lesson from years ago. And if I do that, I will share that on our social media pages so people can go over and say, oh, that’s what that looked like and can kind of follow along.
