In this enlightening episode of Seeds of Revelation, Rabbi Schneider reflects on the profound teaching from Yeshua found in Matthew 12:34 about the power of words. He highlights the importance of being mindful of our speech as it reflects our inner heart. Our conversation delves into how seemingly minor words can direct the trajectory of one’s spiritual journey, reminding us of the biblical analogy of the tongue being like a rudder that steers a ship. Welcome to Seeds of Revelation, a short devotional presented by Rabbi Schneider, a Jewish believer in Jesus, the Messiah. I’m going to read a scripture now that you probably haven’t heard read in a devotional context like this. But listen to this. This is Matthew 12, 34. Yeshua is speaking to the Pharisees. And here’s what he says. You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. So obviously Yeshua is condemning the Pharisees and their unrighteousness. But there’s a real nugget there for you and I to meditate on today. Yeshua said, out of the mouth, out of the heart rather, the mouth speaks. And I think that’s really important for us to think about because so many people that are identifying themselves as God’s people, and many are, they are God’s people, but they don’t really have a consciousness of the words that are coming out of their mouth. I mean the gossiping about one another, the speaking ill of brothers and sisters, the distortion sometimes of how we relate somebody’s life to somebody else. In other words, we’re talking about a brother or sister and we start sharing with them a story that really isn’t the full picture. In other words, our words, beloved, need to be edifying. We need to be measuring what’s coming out of our mouth. Number one, is what’s coming out of our mouth good? Secondly, is it true? And thirdly, is it helpful? And if it’s not good, if it’s not true, If it’s not helpful or if it’s not necessary, the best thing we can do is keep our mouth shut. The Bible tells us that our mouth is like the rudder of a ship, that the way that we speak is going to determine the trajectory of our soul. So I want to encourage you, really guard your
