On this powerful edition of Victorious Faith, Cherri Campbell continues teaching from her series “The God of Miracles” with another message from “Lessons From Jesus’ Healing Miracles, Part One.” The focus of this broadcast centers on the connection between faith and spiritual authority and how believers are called to exercise authority through the spoken Word of God.
Using the story of the Roman centurion, Cherri explains how the centurion recognized Jesus’ authority because he understood authority structures himself. She teaches that Jesus consistently healed the sick, cast out demons, and performed miracles simply by speaking commands — and that believers
SPEAKER 01 :
Welcome to Victorious Faith. I’m Cherry Campbell. This morning I’m going to continue sharing with you the message that I’ve been sharing with you all this week that I preached in a six message series in our Victorious Faith services called The God of Miracles. And this is message two in that series called Lessons from Jesus Healing Miracles Part One. So join me now on our live service for part five of this message called Lessons from Jesus Healing Miracles Part One. The Roman centurions and the Roman soldiers were in Israel, occupying Israel to keep peace there in order to keep them under the Roman Empire, Roman Emperor. So they were there to keep their control, but they were also to keep any uprising from happening, to squash it if they saw it. So they were there whenever they saw a crowd. Ooh, that’s potential danger. Danger. Ding, ding, ding. Send out the troops. Make sure there are plenty of soldiers on hand when there are multitudes of people gathered because an uprising can start even against one of their own. And so the Romans were there. There was a mob crowd following Jesus and, This Roman centurion watched him long enough that as the sick person after sick, after sick, after sick came, he cast out the demons with the word. He commanded the sick be healed. Take up your mat and walk. Stretch forth your hand. He was constantly all day long in some places, you know, like Beatitudes. He taught them all day. And then the next day he healed them for days. You know, all the sick were brought to him. And the Roman centurion is there in the crowd watching. He just gives a command. Everything he says, he commands that sickness go, that demon go, and it instantly happens. I’ve been standing here all day and I’ve watched him heal hundreds. All he needs to do is say the word and my servant will be healed. He walks up to the Lord, sir, just say the word only. I know my servant will be healed. I’ve seen it all day long. You just say the word and hundreds have been healed one after the other, after the other, after the other, everything you’ve said has happened. So I know my servant will be healed. He saw authority in action and he knew it. He recognized it because that’s the way he lives. That’s what he lives by. Yes, sir. And he recognized the authority that Jesus had. And strangely and sadly, none of the Israelites really understood that. They did not recognize the authority that he used. But the Roman did. The Roman centurion, because he was one who lived by it strictly. And so just say the word only my servant will be healed. And he believed. And Jesus said, it will be done just as you believed. He believed he knew it would happen. He didn’t question or doubt because he watched hundreds of them all day. Every sickness, every sickness, every sickness. He spoke the word healed, spoke the word demon cast out, healed, demon cast out. Everything he said instantly is done. Just say the word. My servant will be healed. Done. And Jesus said, finally, somebody understands me. He didn’t say that. That’s Cherry’s addition. But really, I can believe in his heart. That’s what he felt. Finally, somebody understands. Somebody understood what’s been happening all day. It’s been the work of authority and faith together. Faith and authority. Faith and authority. Those are the twins that you need to hold on to. Faith and authority. Speak the word and believe. When you say it, the authority in your words will be carried out. It will be done as you say. That’s what Mark 11, 23 is all about. If you say to this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea. And do not doubt. That’s just like casting out the demon, casting out the sickness. And do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will be done. It will be done. Faith and authority, faith and authority. They’re the twins. Whenever you speak to receive a miracle, you need to give the command. Don’t wait for God to give the command. He gave you authority. Jesus said, I’ve given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy. And so he gave you the authority to cast out the demons and to heal and to receive your own healing and your own miracle and your own breakthrough. You speak the word, whatever you buy on earth is bound in heaven. In other words, God will back you up. Whatever you loose on earth is loose in heaven. God backs you up. He’s waiting for you to give the command. His power will flow through your words when you believe what you say. So faith and authority speak the command and believe in your heart without doubting that what you say will happen and it will be done. And so that’s the major lesson of the centurion’s miracle. He recognized the authority. He believed it. Now, I actually haven’t given it to you here, but I just quoted you several scriptures. Matthew 18, 18 is whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever you lose on earth is loose in heaven. And so God will back you up. Luke 10, 19, Luke 10, 19. Well, let me read verse 17. The 72, Jesus sent out 72. Okay. And he told them to heal the sick. And then in verse 17, the 72 returned with joy and said, Lord, even the demons submit. Notice the authority. They used authority. The demons submit and the sickness submits in your name. Verse 19. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy. So you have authority over sickness, disease, demons, over the curse, over lack, over fear, anxiety, panic. strife, division, all the things that come through the curse and come via the agent of Satan and his demons. Satan and his demons are the agents working the curse. They bring sickness, they bring fear, they bring strife and division, they bring poverty. So the demonic world, they are the agents that work the curse and then you have authority over them and over the curse. Use your authority. Whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven. That word bind also means prohibit or forbid. So if you forbid it, it will be forbidden. The word loose also means to permit or allow. What you allow will be allowed. So people are always asking, God, why did you allow this? Bottom line, the answer is God didn’t. He gave you the authority, told you to bind and loose, forbid and allow. So he’s saying whatever you forbid on earth is forbidden in heaven. In other words, God will back you up. Whatever you loose or allow, whatever you allow on earth is allowed in heaven. God will back you up. God gave us authority in the earth and especially, particularly authority over our own lives and circumstances. He is expecting us to use our authority. He’s expecting us to command. That’s why Mark 11, 23. If you say to this mountain, be removed and be cast in the sea and do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will happen. You will have what you say. Is the mountain a literal mountain? Is he telling you to move Pike’s Peak? No, I think Pikes Peak is beautiful where it is. Mount Evans is beautiful where it is. He’s not talking about literal mountains. He’s talking about a mountain in your life, which is any problem or circumstance that is really big in your way and causing you a problem. The mountain is symbolic of problems. And sometimes those problems get so big, they look like mountains. So he’s not telling you to move Pike’s Peak. Please don’t. And I know, I don’t believe you would be able to anyway. But in your life, move every mountain, every problem that is rising up before you. It’s in front of you. Speak to it. Remove it. I command it. Be gone. Be cast into the sea. And it will obey you if you believe and don’t doubt. Don’t doubt in your heart, but believe. So Jesus said that. Mark 11, 23. You speak to the mountain. What you bind on earth is bound in heaven. What you loose or allow on earth is loosed. I give you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy. God gave you authority. Jesus gave you authority over your life to rule your situations. God backs you up and it’s according to what you believe in your heart. When you speak, that’s what you will have. And so faith and authority is a very major lesson. All right, let’s read one more example. And this is another example of authority. That’s why I put these two together. It’s another example of using authority. Peter’s mother-in-law, Luke 4, 38 and 39 says, Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and what rebuked, did he rebuke the woman? No, she didn’t do anything wrong. He rebuked the fever and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them. I heard a preacher one time. Actually, I’ve heard him say this many times. But he said when he was first learning about authority and faith and speaking, he read that and the Holy Spirit quickened to him. Jesus talked to the fever. He said, I wonder, can a fever here? He kept reading. It left. Yep. Fevers can hear. A fever can hear high blood pressure can hear blood sugar, kidneys, liver, lungs, knees, backs. They can hear what you just heard was part five of a message that I preached in a six message series in our victorious faith services called the God of miracles.
